Well, you've read the notes, the notes didn't care who knew it, and now it is time for you to post until the I don't care who knows it cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUPERJACENT!
-
First post after BK!
-
TOD Phantom of the Opera.
-
Topic of the Day: the first one that comes to mind is the production of The Turn of the Screw that I just saw in Seattle. It was mostly really cool animated projections, but the physical set which the projections were projected onto seemed to be somewhat simple. Thinking about it though, it really was pretty clever and inventive.
-
Also, Les Misérable with the turntable. They built that for the tour when it was at The 5th Avenue in Seatle.
-
Wonderful news DR TCB! Vibes the other eye responds as well.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
Well, today is going to be a day. I'm going to work for at least five hours on my first day to earn extra hours because we're changing when we get paid each month, and to make the adjustment, they're going to delay what would've been our December 31 paycheck until January 10!
-
We also have the option of cashing out some vacation and personal time, or a combination of both working extra and cashing out vacation time.
-
But before that, I'm going to stop at the rehearsal space and ask the director and stage manager a few questions.
-
Then, to work.
-
I don't know what I'll do after that. I might come back home and do some laundry and watch some TV or DVDs. We'll see what happens.
Good night and have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
DR vixmom, I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's death.
-
I had several dreams about John McGlinn last night. In one, I was looking at music for a recording and much of it turned out to be music that had belonged to McGlinn. In the other dream, I was flying to London to record with John, and I could not get anyone to confirm when I needed to be there.
-
I have to finish up the final number for How to Succeed . . . this morning and go to the bank, maybe the market as well.

Saturday.....my bed making is done and the house is swept and Swiffered.....I sweep every day and Swiffer on Saturday.
Sad news from DR VIXMOM last night.....
Monday is the surgery so we shall see what we shall see. I am looking forward to the conscious sedation which is always a trip. No one seems to know WHO is doing the surgery....it must be a mystery doctor.
-
Keith Partridge has two dates for the beach party this morning....a nice girl that Laurie set him up with AND a knockout (Played by Cheryl Ladd)....my guess is he is going to end up with NO DATE.
-
Arlen arrived here on Tuesday.....I forgot to write it down.

-
Good morning, all.
-
Vixmom, my sympathies on your co-worker's passing.
-
DR Jane, where in Quebec could people be travelling that there would be snow? Temps in May usually are nice. But with the way the weather is who knows. It could be 60°F or it could be 80°F. We had a very very hot summer this year. Hopefully it will be the same next year.
-
TOD:
Actors Theater of Louisville had great set designers when I was growing up and the look could be sleek and elegant (a Deco production of The Play's the Thing), realistic (Morning's at Seven with working kitchen sinks, etc.) of period (What Every Woman Knows).
On Broadway, Grind was as overdressed as the women were underdressed.
And regionally, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music staged Sweeney Todd with a good copy of the original Lee sets.
-
DR Vixmom I am so sorry to hear the news about your former co-worker. That is so sad. :(
-
I actually got more than eight hours of sleep last night. Feels good.
-
Off to the salt mines soon.
-
Two!
-
Good morning, Jennifer!
-
Half Price Books is having its clearance sale today. I hope I can get out there. It's way across town. Nothing priced over $2.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Half Price Books doesn't have any stores in the Northeast, a fact that never fails to sadden me.
On the other hand, it's probably a good thing for me that they don't.
-
Sorry you got that news, vixmom. She sounds like an amazing woman.
-
I've been to the Lincoln Center farmer's market and post office. I doubt I will step out of the building again today. Next up, laundry.
-
Nothing Over Two Dollars.
That's the name of my new volume of memoirs.

Last night at '2001' turned out to be as fine an evening as one could have hoped. Keir Dullea introduced the film, and sat for autographs and photos afterward. As I'd already heard, he's extremely personable, and very supportive of the film being seen by the widest possible audience. And trust me, a few of them were pretty wide.
(pause for polite laughter)
The presentation was very good for the theater's first showing (I flatter myself to think I was probably the only one in that audience to detect a couple of flaws which I hope they'll iron out for the remainder of the run), and I don't think I've known any present day '2001' audience to be as wrapped up in the film as this one. There were only a couple of hundred people in attendance, so not nearly a full house, but through it you could hear a pin drop, with no fidgeting or anything unseemly going on. There was reaction in just a couple of the right places, and most of them stayed to get a signed photo or have their picture taken with Dullea. (Which by the way wasn't free; it's all like "cons" nowadays, they don't give it away.)
Most importantly, friend Kristi - who had never seen the film in a theater and therefore had literally never cared about it in spite of very much liking other Kubrick films - LOVED everything about the movie. It was a revelation, which - better late than never, has SOLD her on seeing things the way they were meant to be seen.
-
Let's have a little photographic evidence, shall we?
This is one of the remaining original 70mm IMAX theaters with the six-story screen -- which tragically is going to be demolished late next year to make way for a replacement railroad bridge the state has to construct on the site. (Long story.) And that is Mr. Dullea, across the theater in our row, during the intermission of his own first viewing of the film on an IMAX screen.
-
Good morning to all
-
I met Kier Dullea and his wife at the 68th Street movie theatre, maybe 10 years ago They were a lovely couple. I cannot remember now what the movie was!
-
TOD:
The tour of "Aida" had amazing sets (and costumes).
Mark and I always like to sit in the front row because we're short, but that means we really don't get to see the sets much.
-
TOD
Original Broadway set design for Deathtrap.

She assisted last night, and was as delightful as he is.
Here's yrs truly, presenting him with the one original studio 8x10 I'd ever acquired, followed by three of us who were ready for our close-up.
-
I did an HHW search. I met Kier Dullea and his wife, Mia Dillon, through my friend Conan McCarty. I was seeing Run, Fat Boy, Run with former DR Jose, when Conan and they came out of the theatre. They had seen The Visitor. The date was indeed 10 years ago, April 12. 2008.
-
Vixmom sorry to hear about the passing of your friend
-
Add the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd

I am guessing now that the photo was off of the internet and not something he took.
-
I'm up, I'm up - barely. Maybe five hours of sleep.
-
I want that donut.
-
But as I have no donut, I’m having a sandwich.
-
Good morning, Jennifer!
Good afternoon!
-
vixmom, I'm so sorry to hear about your bad news from last night's posts.

Non-Political post about Ted Cruz:
His Facebook live event kept turning every which way by whoever was doing the video on their phone.
My favorite comment about that was the twitterer who said:
"I didn’t know my mom was in charge of Ted Cruz’s Facebook live streams"
-
I put the laundry away and we've all had a nap.

We just returned from a beautiful walk in t-shirts with a vest weather.

I survived the Half Price Books sale.
-
But I may not survive today's dancing. Five hours so far. Three to go.

Ooo! Sexy men! ;)
-
Arlen arrived here on Tuesday.....I forgot to write it down.
I'm still waiting...patiently.
-
You never know what you're going to find at the big sale, so it never pays to have an expectation. People who were looking only for Dan Brown books were inevitably disappointed.
-
I found a bunch of mysteries to give at Christmas.
-
For me, I found the only volume of Proust outside of In Search of Lost Time.
-
Among the CDs, I got the OBC of Beautiful and an album of Rosemary Clooney singing bossa nova.

That's so cool, ChasSmith! I wish I could see it on a BIG screen!

Among the DVDs was a Roberto Rosselini film on St. Francis that was co-written by Fellini.

Great pictures! And of the theater and screen!

Nice!

Very nice photos DR Chas, especially when you were in them.
-
Well, I'm off. I got my five hours in today, and am now going to my parents' for dinner. I have to bring my own and something for my dad, so I'm going to Red Wagon, a local burger joint with VERY good burgers. It's just at the end of the street where I work, it's close.
Be back later.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Vixmom, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your former coworker.
-
John G, although I enjoyed the early episodes of 800 WORDS, I didn't complete the first season. It got too involved with the two teens for my taste and I didn't return. Maybe I should. There were several elements of the show that I liked, just not the teen stuff.
-
Enjoyed the photos, Chas.
-
Good news from TCB re his laser eye procedure. Vibes for the next one.
-
I've been busy trying to catch up. I don't know where all this stuff comes from. Brian will be on vacation for the next couple weeks, so the cleaning is up to me. Plus all the other stuff. :P
-
Jane, I hope you and Keith are happy with all the work that was done. Awful to have to go through that. Hope it's soon history!
-
I found a bunch of mysteries to give at Christmas.
Lucky you. I'm still trying to figure out what to give.
-
TTFN.

One last item and we are done. Thank you yes, basically we are pleased with the results. They will be writing a check to replace the mattress & box spring, after we sign & have an acceptance agreement notarized. They cleaned the spread & sheets. I don't know if the water ruined them or the perfume they were cleaned in ruined them but they smell.
-
I am not sure if I simply overdid it yesterday or what, however, my wrist is bad again today. It is connected to the elbow issue and could be a mix of reasons.
I will likely stop in once later tonight but that will be it. It is important I do not write using my tablet.
-
Chas, thanks so much for sharing the "2001" experiences and photos!
-
Good evening.
-
Leonard found a bug.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Vixmom.

I remember that now. And I agree.
-
Let's move on.
-
Four!
-
What is this page four malarkey?
-
Where is everyone tonight?
-
I went dancing for several hours.
-
Waltz after waltz, tango after tango. I'm tired.
-
But I'm braising red cabbage now for Bible study tomorrow night. We're doing Oktoberfest foods.

It's like my favorite vegetables at the vegetarian restaurant in Rio I went to. It's starts with bacon -- perhaps one of my top 5 vegetables.
-
I'm sure olive oil would have worked, but why?
-
Just listened to Rosemary in Brazil. Nice CD.
-
What next? I have to stay awake another 15 minutes or so while the cabbage finishes.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!
-
I am decorating cookies. Or maybe I should say I am trying to decorate cookies.
-
I just learned that Winston Graham, the man who wrote the Poldark series of novels, is also the the author of Marnie, which Hitchcock filmed and is now the source of a rather ghastly (according to one review) opera at the Met.
-
I am decorating cookies. Or maybe I should say I am trying to decorate cookies.
What types of cookies and how are you decorating them?
I could use a plate right now.
-
I'm up, I'm up - oh, wait...
-
Cabbage is done.
-
And so am I.
-
Good night, all.
-
Cabbage is Done - that's the title of my next novel.

Had an okay rehearsal, mostly running music because we had to be upstairs instead of where we're doing the show. And the stage upstairs is really too small to run much. Rehearsal was supposed to be from noon to five, but I let everyone go at three-thirty as it was just pointless. I had an actress get irritated to me and get all defensive because I call her out on knowing NONE of her lyrics after two weeks. She gets through one line and has to look at her script and even the one line is wrong. I cannot tell you - well, I can - she has one song that consists of three verses consisting of six lines each. I was warned about this and she was told that she had to come in knowing her lyrics before the first music rehearsal. And here we are. So I know if I don't make a deal about it that it will continue, but she got defensive with me, which you never really want to do when you're in the wrong. She said she was nervous doing it in front of people - well, what's gonna happen when there's a full house? Then it's because all the lines are similar. Okay. I think it's really time for Doug to have a conversation with her about promises unkept.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Watched the new Blu and Ray of Who Killed Teddy Bear.
-
Listening to music - more Lyrita and a major musical discovery - a composer called George Lloyd - fantastic music - three symphonies in a three-CD budget-priced set - his fourth, fifth, and eighth symphonies. Listening to the eighth right now. I have to say that the fourth is utterly brilliant, filled with incredible tunes, just fantastic and an instant favorite. The fifth isn't quite up to the fourth, but so far the eighth is also great. I now need to hear the rest of his symphonies.

The vegetarian version sounds good.
-
I am decorating cookies. Or maybe I should say I am trying to decorate cookies.
Will there be a photo?
-
Now I am hungry.
-
Being hungry better not keep me awake. I didn't fall asleep last night until around 4:30.
-
'night

The non vegetarian version sounds better. Thank you for the recipe. I must expand my horizons, my red cabbage cooking thus far has been limited to heating up the contents of a jar
-
It was a busy day
-
From 8 am until noon I was Poland
-
That is a lie.
-
Perpetuated by spellcheck
-
From 8 am until noon I was polishing brass, silver and wood at church until everything gleamed
-
Finished the wonderful music of George Lloyd and am now listening to more Lyrita - a composer called Geoffrey Bush. Very good, also.
-
Who killed teddy bear? Doesn't anybody care?
-
Page five? Really?
-
I think a hot shower might just be the ticket.
-
Then I did some banking ran home and showered , changed and drove back to church
-
Today was the ordination of the husband of a long time church friend,
-
It was a beautiful service
-
Followed by a lovely reception
-
Then to my moms to take care of a few thinks around the house
-
Then to the market and finally home
-
Where I took and unplanned nap
-
I have to be up in 3 hours to drive my mom to the airport but that stupid nap is keeping me awake now
-
I was unable to finish my posts earlier as I kept getting a message that Server was unavailable ...but I guess whatever it was is fixed now
-
Well I must try and sleep
-
So I can wake up
-
Hope both Vixmom and Jane sleep well!

That's too bad, BK.
-
Hopefully, she gets her act together (pun intended ;) ) and quickly!
-
Finally!
-
Good evening.
-
I have been trying for over an hour to get onto this site.
-
Not that I had anything urgent to say, but it is the principle of the thing.
-
But I see my time is running out on Saturday.
-
Welcome back, Tom!

But I see my tie is running out on Saturday.
Where's it running to?

SIX!!

I slept almost the entire afternoon.

I was supposed to be studying my lines and watching football.

Goodnight.
