Here I am at almost two in the morning. I am too exhausted to fall asleep.

John, no matter how stupid he acts I will do everything I can to leave things absolutely pristine. It's not about him, it's about it my coworkers I leave behind who will be stuck trying to do a job none of them are trained for.

I am working with them to teach them what they need to know to handle things and they don't need any additional angst

Also I want all the clients to see me doing the absolute best for them, it's a small world and you run into the same people over and over. When I leave if things fall apart I don't want anyone to say it was because of things I did incorrectly or left undone.

I am home today. Since the MTI check is now in the works, I need to pay a few bills and be ready to post them when the check is in my hands.

Today I’m on to A Charlie Brown Christmas.
I’ve never played it, or even seen it except for the original TV show. But there’s no end of execrable amateur productions on YouTube to watch, and the score is all of twenty-three (count’em) pages long, so this will be a quick and dirty subbing job. I’ll observe how it’s played tonight with the trio (piano/bass/drums), then play it by myself for their preview tomorrow night. Hopefully it will be a Christmas miracle.

I love SOME LIKE IT HOT.....I first saw it on the ABC Sunday Night Movie.....which for some reason would show the credits at the END of the movie.
Last time I watched it - I looked to see who played the Bellboy because he was so funny - and I had never really paid him much attention....

My metal plate feels the cold. Fortunately my elbow is still warm from the surgery to counter that. Boy am I going to feel it next winter.

The surgeon cleared me from return visits unless I feel I need them. He said with time I might get a bit more extension with my elbow if I keep up the exercises. The bone is mended and I am permitted to go on roller coasters if I so desire. I do desire but Keith was worried I shouldn't go.

Though I was told after a year I can remove the plate & 8 screws he highly advised against taking the risk of doing so. I suppose I will just leave with this hard thing in my arm. I could cushion and hide it by gaining a lot of weight. You know how I feel about gaining 4 pounds let alone more.

I would say I just received my best birthday gift knowing that I have healed properly and normally.

Was the Orange Julius you had as good as your memory? I don't think they are, but then I likely stopped getting them anywhere else after drinking Stan's improved version of the drink.
My sister and I also made a better one at home using a blender. First we added ice, then vanilla ice cream, a touch of vanilla, and then orange juice. I continued making them with my children for a long time. I even took all the ingredients to the elementary school and let the children make them. They loved it.

The Orange Julius wasn't quite as good as they used to be, one reason is because it's not as freezing cold as they used to be - that first jolt was always something.
I can't say I remember the freezing cold, but there was a taste and a texture that the one I tried a few years ago (at an Orange Julius in a mall) definitely lacked.
And oh, the Orange Julius locations that had hot dogs. (Was that just some, or all of them?) Probably my favorite hot dogs in 1970s L.A.

I worked eight hours today and ushered for six and a half hours tonight. I'm exhausted.

I can't say that I enjoyed Paula Abdul's concert, but the audience certainly did. They thought it was the second coming.
I found it slick, overproduced and probably featured more lip-syncing than any concert I've ever seen. When she did sing, it was to pre-recorded music. And she danced throughout without ever getting short of breath.
It also didn't help that I didn't know a single of her songs, and I proceeded to forget each one before it was finished.

But I do admire her for coming back as she did after a plane crash that left her paralyzed. 15 surgeries and countless hours of physical therapy later, she did dance well, even if that '80s style of dance is a bit silly looking.

Yes, the drug store at Robertson and Pico was my first Orange Julius - I would get one and pair it with a great hot dog with mustard and onions. This would have been circa 1955 - there was a newsstand right next to it and that's where I bought all the comic book versions of MAD Magazine. I think the drugstore was gone by the mid-1960s - certainly the Orange Julius was.
