Well, you've read the notes, the notes were just the sort of notes one would hope for, and now it is time for you to post until just the sort of cows one would hope for come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RUTILANT!
-
Howdy
-
I am home following th show and a nice after theater get together with George and Tracy.
-
I have been friends with Tracy for 35 years. She is 36
-
Tracy was Ma Bailey in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, when I did it in Lakewood.
-
She is a wonderful actress.
-
And, of course, we are all aware of George’s talents.
-
Gee, shucks, Tom! :D
-
I am glad the three of us went out after the show. They made me feel better about my work in the show.
-
Only one more show this weekend. Then we are off until next Friday.
-
We had 102 people in the audience last night. That is probably our biggest house, so far.
-
I have no idea who the 100 people were, but I know the 2.
-
Finished a fun Vaughan Williams opera thing, Hugh the Drover. Now listening to a Holst choral piece that's pretty gorgeous - the Hymn of Jesus. Whilst listening I did the blurbs and finished the fifth set of liner notes and that just leaves some track info for that set.
-
By the time I got home last night, I already had my line notes from last night’s show.
-
Well, I guess it is time to say good night.
-
Goodnight.
-
Today, we have a 6 1/2 hour rehearsal scheduled. We'll get a half hour break in there. I don't know how long I'll need to be there, but I won't need to be there the whole time. We're supposed to have a costume parade then run (most of?) the show (without costumes). Then they'll let some of go because a lot of the scenes are just with the family and kids, and the adult chorus members aren't needed for those scenes.
-
Whenever I get to leave, I'll go to my sister's because my cousin and his wife are up visiting from Oregon. That'll be fun. :) Then I'll come home.
-
And now, I need to get to sleep, too.
Have a good day, all!
-
But before I go...Gratuitous Post #20!
-
Am I first in the actual morning?
-
I have no idea who the 100 people were, but I know the 2.
That was delightful, Tom!
-
Sunday. I am going to watch The Patty Duke Show and then take a shower - the two events are unrelated.
Thank you DR JEANNE. I guess I should have noted in my comment that yesterday's Birthday Video for MR BK was a new one, not the one I did a few years ago.....
-
Good morning, all!
-
I fed the cats and went back to bed.
-
I would swear it was less than 30 degrees F in the apartment around 3:15 this morning. Annabelle crawled under the blankets to get warn. I dragged Thatch in for a bit, but I believe my little boy is an alpha male cat who prefers to challenge me for control. I think he liked the warmth but didn't really care for my pushing it. His coat is longer than Annabelle's and he seems happy lying on top of the blankets next to me, although once he'ds relaxed and asleep, he crawls as close to me as he can.
-
After I went back to bed this morning, he finished his breakfast, jumped onto my bed, and then proceeded to crawl under the blankets and explore the terrain on his own terms. Then he crawled out, leaped around the bed and went off to play. Annabelle retired to her washtub for another 4-6 hours of sleep.
-
I have to clean the litter now, patrol with Annabelle, and then settle in for a day of writing. I'd like to get the major parameters of this arrangement laid out. I want to finish it as soon as possible, since I need to do some NYPL research before I begin the second one.
-
Nice Sunday activities.
I am going to the YEAR END Theatre Board Meeting.....and then OUTLANDER!!!
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning!
-
Sunday morning greetings! I'd planned to stay home all day today doing Christmas prep, but Rebecca has an extra ticket for a holiday concert and offered it to me. It's at the Fitton Center in Hamilton, where DR Elmore gave his Sondheim lecture a couple of years ago. The featured vocalist is Nancy James, whose name might be familiar to DRs Elmore and JRand.
-
We made our patrol. Annabelle's sounding congested, so there may be a vet visit in her near future.
-
Good morning!
Good morning, DR KevinH! I am so sorry I cannot join you this morning.

Nancy who?
-
DR Elmore, I'll wait to see if DR JRand knows who Nancy James is before telling you about her...
-
I am glad to hear that BK had a lovelier than lovely birthday
-
Enjoy your concert, Ginny
-
How is your eye?
-
I was hoping for photographic evidence of last nights meeting
-
How is your eye?
Ugly...
But I’m dressed and almost ready to leave. By skipping church today I was able to get the piano decorated with our Advent wreath and my angel collection, while listening to the Cincinnati Pops play Christmas music.
And that helps.
-
Good afternoon (or morning).
-
This morning at 7:30, Nick and I discussed the pros and cons of getting out of bed. We both promptly fell back to sleep until 8:30.
-
In that extra hour, I had a very depressing dream, which left me feeling out of sorts and rather down.
-
Either that, or I am just down because I have a matinee today.
-
A very unusual attitude leading up to a performance.
-
I am developing a major headache.
-
Belated birthday wishes.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep - finished the final set of liner notes, the blurbs, and my work is done - all before going to bed.
-
DR GINNY of course I know Nancy James.....but I think she's older than either of us....but if she's still singing - good for her.....she always could get off a zinger or two when her co-host would shut his big mouth.....
-
Matinee vibes for DR TCB.
-
I told my Pastor I got the job and got a big hug
-
We were overheard by our retired Pastor who is now a member of the congregation and got hugs from he and his wife
-
Then the word spread like wildfire, people were coming up all morning to congratulate me on leaving that job
-
I am so excited!
-
I hope I don't screw it up
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
I am on the run today. I was up at the crack o' dawn to drive up past Poughkeepsie to play a church service, substituting for a friend. Now I'm home for a bit, but before too long I'll have to head out to the wake for our deceased buddy. And then I'm off again this evening to the same church to hear the first of their two (or is it three?) Christmas concerts.
-
Vixmom, I'm glad to hear you got those trees chopped down okay in my absence.
-
And I apologize for being a no-show at the English Breakfast.
I do believe I've had but one (1) doughnut so far today. In addition to three cups of coffee. I shall have to do something in the food department shortly.
-
The best laid plans of mice and men . . .
-
I am home from City Vet. I will pick Annabelle up at 4:00. This was not the day I had anticipated.
-
Oh, poor girl! More congestion issues?
-
I am glad the three of us went out after the show. They made me feel better about my work in the show.
Good. I wish I had been there to make you feel even better.
-
By the time I got home last night, I already had my line notes from last night’s show.

Everyone here was jumping for joy and giving you virtual hugs ;)

-
DR elmore I am surprised you vet has Sunday hours. Is this the special practice vs your regular veterinarian office?
-
VIBES FOR ANNABELLE!
-
We are home. We have the ability to turn the heat on by remote so our home is warm before we get here. If only we had remembered to do that.
-
I just put a sweater on since the temperature and reached the set degrees of 68.
-
Oh, poor girl! More congestion issues?
Yes.
-
DR elmore I am surprised you vet has Sunday hours. Is this the special practice vs your regular veterinarian office?
Seven days a week.
http://www.cityvetcare.com
-
Your regular vet office then, not a specialty? Those are great hours.
-
I am so sorry to hear this, Elmore
-
We spoke with the Vixter last night
-
They had some cat woes oftheir own this week
-
Vixter came home to find the cat being sick
-
They thought it was a hair ball and didn't worry too much until they noticed she wasn't sting or using the litter box and kept retching
-
They took her to the vet where she was xrayed(the cat not the girl) and they. Discovered some sort of mass in her stomach
-
The vet operated to remove the 4 hair bands that had been eaten
-
Vixter said " sure, she turns up her nose at the cat food and then steals hair bands from the bathroom and makes a meal of this"
-
OH my!
Annabelle vibes and VixCAT vibes.....
-
Off to the meeting.....we shall see what transpires.
-
Mr BK must be at the matinee or enjoying the preshow festivities....
-
Vixter came home to find the cat being sick
Has the cat recovered from the surgery?
-
Vixter said " sure, she turns up her nose at the cat food and then steals hair bands from the bathroom and makes a meal of this"
When I leave things out such as hair bands, or drop a needle without having to search until I find it, or other little things I did to keep the pets safe my instinct is that I am being careless though it no longer matters.
-
We are home from the vet. We saw a new doctor today, Dr. Brennen.
-
And?
-
DR GINNY of course I know Nancy James.....but I think she's older than either of us....but if she's still singing - good for her.....she always could get off a zinger or two when her co-host would shut his big mouth.....
DR JRand, she said she was hired out of CCM at age 21 just after Paul Dixon died, which was December of 1974. That makes Nancy a few years younger than we are, but not by much.
-
So, DR Elmore, Nancy James sang on the Bob Braun show, which was descended from the Ruth Lyons show. She said she never met “Mother,” but talked to her on the phone once. In today’s show she sang a couple of Christmas songs written by Ruth Lyons while lots of nostalgic photos were projected behind her.
-
Nancy was accompanied by the River City Band and I’m sure they’re all fine musicians, but they were so over-amplified I had to keep my buzzing ear covered. I’d really like to hear them without a sound system.
-
DR elmore how is Annabelle?
-
DR elmore how is Annabelle?
She had her sinuses flushed out, as theuy've done for the past six months, and seems fine now the congestion is gone. Same old chronic problem in which they seem unable to pinpoint a source.
-
I hope it will be a good long while before she needs this done again.
-

Apparently the cat was sneaking them out of the bathroom, Vixter didn't realize that they were missing
-
Poor Annabelle and poor Papa Elmore
-
Good evening, all.
-
Berlin Alexanderplatz is done. Except for the supplements. Probably seven or eight hours of those.
-
Hi, Vixmom!
-
Vibes for Annabelle.

I figured she didn't realize they were missing but she wasn't keeping track either. I am not criticizing, just commenting on my awareness level due to having so many pets. Long before we had children pot handles were left turned away from the edge of the stove or counter.

The boys grew up learning to be careful with their toys, etc.

Hi, Jane!
-
I went to a cookie exchange today. Donna, the woman who throws this get-together every year, told us a great story of how she rescued a kitty stuck up in a tree. The cat was so sweet when her husband went off to the hospital shortly before he died. She walked all over Ray's space in the bed, as if asking where he was. When Donna explained to the cat that he wasn't coming home, the cat curled up with Donna and has continued to do so ever since.
Elmore, Donna named the kitty Annabelle.
-
I have had too much sugar today.
-
After all that German, I need something very English. So, it's Richard Wilbur's translation of Tartuffe with Tammy Grimes, Patricia Elliott, Victor Garber and Donald Moffat.
-
I need to pack tonight, too.

Has anybody hear a new Latin jazz album called West Side Story Reimagined from Bobby Sanabria?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I just came home from seeing A Carol Christmas. It was a lot of fun and we all really enjoyed it. Bruce has good reason to be proud of all his work on this. This Christmas was sung very nicely; I know the Sandy Bainum recording well and would know if it wasn't. There were some surprised for me, even after reading about all the ups and downs. For instance, I wasn't expecting a tarot reading scene. It was really fun.
Peyton Kirkner, who plays Trina, the young girl with a heart problem, did a fine job and seems very comfortable on stage. I've heard Bruce talk about her, but this was the first time I've seen her perform. Hartley Powers, the lead, can certainly handle the role.
We stayed for a short talkback, then battled the traffic back to West LA.
-
Hi, John G, When do you leave for Germany?
Travel vibes for whenever you need them.

DR Jeanne I enjoyed reading your show report :)

DR Jeanne I enjoyed reading your show report :)
I did, too. Really looking forward to that CD, which I guess will arrive after my trip.
-
Back home from a huge day which ended nicely on a lovely Christmas concert.
-
Tomorrow I sit down to learn the next concert’s music. First rehearsal on Tuesday. Includes a
Jason Robert Brown piece. Better get cracking.
(I didn’t play tonight’s concert, just the church service this morning.)
-
Matinee, as has been the case for the past three weeks, was not as good as the previous two performances - I'm trying to figure out how this company could every play an eight show week. It wasn't bad, it was, in fact fine, but flubbed lyrics twice by a performer who just can't do more than two shows in a row without messing up the lyrics and it's very frustrating because said performer makes mis-rhymes and people never blame the actor because they don't know the lyrics. And the performer blames everything under the sun (usually the track volume - which has been the same all weekend) save for the one person the performer should blame - themselves. Peyton was actually great today - one of her best shows - not a note did I have for her. Some others did great, for others the energy was a bit off from how I like it, but the show thankfully moves like a machine in terms of pacing, so I don't think most notice it, and it was a very full house and a good audience to boot, and had the show been as sharp as Friday and Saturday they would have had the audience eating out of their hands.
-
I'm sorry, BK. Must be frustrating.
-
Watching Four Weddings and a Funeral for the first time in more than 10 years. I loved this movie when it came out. And I am enjoying most of it again. Except ...
Well, except for Hugh Grant's hair, which seems to have a life of its own -- and not a very good life at that.
-
Good night, all.
-
Watched a nice documentary on the Flix of Net - about Harold and Lillian Michelson - two very important behind-the-scenes film people. I also prepped everything for our announcements tonight.
-
Now I'm listening to music.

-
Good evening.
-
We had a lovelier than lovely matinee audience today.
-
Almost a full house. Close, but no cigar.
-
Speaking of cigars, I am amazed how many people think I am smoking an actual cigar during the show.
-
Even Tracy, who knows I quit smoking 24 years ago, thought for sure I was actually smoking.
-
The audience today was with us from the very start.
-
We received a lot more laughter than usual.
-
During the curtain call, we go some whistles, some shouts of “Bravo”, and even a few people gave us a standing ovation.
-
Now, of course, I know the show was not suddenly a major hit, but it was still nice to get the audience response.
-
I had a husband and wife there today that were with me in THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER eighteen years ago.
-
PBS has a Carpenters special on right now. I had forgotten how much I loved her voice.
-
I am home from City Vet. I will pick Annabelle up at 4:00. This was not the day I had anticipated.
Oh, no!
-
What a tragic ending to a very talented singer.
-
VIBES FOR ANNABELLE!
~~~SUPER DITTO!!~~~
-
They just mentioned how her critics dismissed her for being a vanilla piece of fluff.
-
The vet operated to remove the 4 hair bands that had been eaten
Yikes!! :o
~~~Quick Recovery Vibes for The Vixter's Cat!!~~~

My niece's cat, Oz, ate a very wide ribbon and had to have it surgically removed...for $1700!

George.
-
I have now caught up with all of today's posts.
-
Today, we had an extended A Christmas Story rehearsal.
-
Wow, Karen Carpenter died 35 years ago, at the age of 32.
-
Wow, Karen Carpenter died 35 years ago, at the age of 32.
Wow. It's always weird when you make those kinds of realizations.
-
Our rehearsal started at 1:30 and was scheduled to go until 7:00, with a break from 4:00 to 4:30.
-
We non-Parker family adults were able to get our break at 3:30 and didn't need to come back until 4:30, and then we also got to leave for the evening at 6:30. We did get some work done, so that's good.
-
I then went to my sister's because our cousin and his wife were up for the day. I guess they're leaving tomorrow morning.
-
I don't know why they came all the way up from Coquille, Oregon for the day. I can only assume that it was for his job, but I didn't think to ask.
-
I am glad you got to spend a little time with them while they were here.
