Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wet, and now it is time for you to post until the wet cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: REDE!
-
And a happy haineshisway.com birthday to edisaurus, who still comes around occasionally.
-
A Very Happy Birthday to edisaurus (a.k.a. Amy, but not DR Amy)!!
-
So, last night I worked concessions for a fund raiser for Pizza Klatch (https://pizzaklatch.org), a local support organization for kids in high school. They had a live auction, performers (Cris Williamson was the main draw), testimonials, and an on-line auction. I'd never heard of Cris Williamson, but she was very good. A highly enjoyable...and VERY long...evening. It was
only supposed expected to last about 2 1/2 hours, but it was almost three and a half hours long! Some people left early, but everyone seemed to enjoy the whole evening.
-
For the on-line auction, I actually bid and won a "Unique and Fun Wall Lamp." Here are a few pictures. This is with the light off:
-
And here it is with light on:
-
And here's a close-up of the center piece of glass:
-
I think it's made of tin and is very light. It does bend somewhat easily. There already were a few bent places, but they're not very noticeable at all. I didn't have to bid the full value of the lamp, but since all the auction items were donated, Pizza Klatch got the donations.
-
It's supposed to be 30 inches tall. I don't know how deep it is, but you can see it here:
-
Today, I'm going to Lakewood Playhouse (https://www.lakewoodplayhouse.org) to see their last performance of Forbidden Broadway. Sharry, a friend of Tom and Jane and mine, is in the show. This month, she will also be in Broadway Olympia's next show, The Wedding Singer. I hope it's good. ::)
;D
-
But first, sleep.
Good night, and have a good day, all!
-
Good morning
-
I did most of the driving yesterday, driving not through Florida and South Carolina and 20 mikes of North Caro,ina until we arrived here in Lumberton
-
I snoozed while Vixdad drove through Georgia
-
Didn't the movie AGATHA with Vanessa Redgrave also deal with Agatha Christie's 11 missing days?
-
We watched BLACK KLANSMAN last night.
We didn't really care for it.
There's a good true story there, but I think it could have been told better.
-
I snoozed while Vixdad drove through Georgia
Does this mean this is at least "First post from New York" today? :)
-
Those are such fun, George! Thanks for posting them.
-
Good morning to all
-
Then we checked in to our hotel, went down the block to the Cracker Barrel for dinner and back to the room for an early night
-
Bk - Thanks for sharing your feelings about Grant's mom.
My dad is near that age, and we've taken to saying my mom is "only 90." And yet every additional year at that point with good functioning and really enjoying the good things is a blessing.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Ah, Lumberton. Which place are you staying in these days, vixmom?
-
Never saw that Redgrave/Hoffman movie. Must do something about that.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I was awakened by the phone at 2:00 this morning. It was the neighbor below me. I wasn't quite awake, and I thought she was complaining about the cats making too much noise. I was thinking, they're making that much noise romping across her ceiling?
-
Then I thought, does she have a noisy ghost? About then I was awake, and she made a comment about a leak in the bathroom. I went to check: bathroom floor dry, no running water, no sign of a leak. She told me there was a big leak over her toilet and water was running down the walls, and I told her it might be one of my pipes under the floor boards, but it could also be from another apartment. We both agreed the plumbers this apartment's management employs are dim bulbs.
-
I went back to bed and she went back to evacuating her bathroom. At 6:30 the alarm rang, and I fed the cats. I went back to bed, and the next thing I remember is waking to find Annabelle sitting next to me and resting her front paws on my body. It was around 8:00, and she crawled under the blankets with me. Around 8:30 a loudly wailing Thatch, who's been talking quite a lot lately, jumped onto the bed, and I decided it was time to rise.
-
I need to make a turkey run this morning, and I plan to have a quiet day after that doing very little.

Larry - Have they looked for the source of the problem? Or does that wait until Monday?
-
This ABC "Practical Jokes" segment with Marie Osmond seems so elaborate to place, and makes me wonder how these things didn't backfire and really get the celebrities angry.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QZlQKHJ6Zs
Marie seems to be taking the weird turns firmly but keeping her cool. Could she really not have guessed something like an elaborate practical joke was up earlier than when she was actually told?
-
And while watching Marie, then another Donny-Marie-Sonny-Cher crossover video, this came on again.
Donny - Soldier of Love - 1989
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXs0r47STuY
Someone there on YouTube pointed out there that (as sexually charged as the number and video are), Donny never actually appears in any of the shots with the women, that any sexual connection between him and them was done in the editing room.
-
Larry - Have they looked for the source of the problem? Or does that wait until Monday?
At 2 in the morning? There's no activity this morning.
-

LOL, I mean, has anyone dealt with it this morning since the actual day started. There's no weekend emergency staff?

I like DR GEORGE'S lamp.

Continued proofing vibes for MR BK.

Getting home safely vibes for DR VIXMOM and VIXDAD
-
Those clips are nice DR FJL.....but I never liked that show because of the spots they put people in.....
Of course I was never much of a Dick Clark fan outside of AMERICAN BANDSTAND.....
-
I think the World Series is today, they were talking about it on TV this morning.
Pat Brady is playing - I really thought he had passed away....haven't seen him since Roy Rogers went off the air....but if he wants to play, then good for him.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Slept maybe nine hours. It felt good. But the allergies are still irritating. I guess it's mold. THere's been a persistent drizzle, and it always wakens that stuff.
-
Spring is here. Trees are beginning to get green. I saw new leaves on the fig tree from the relative dry of the back door. Yesterday I saw irises. All this green can only mean one thing: pollen.
-
Listening to an album of Andrea Marcovicci and Shelly Markham singing the songs of Frank Loesser. It's a live recording. Her voice may not be what it once was, but, boy, can she hold an audience. And her song selection is excellent.
-
I like this from someone named CarolSue in theTimes comments on collecting Playbills: "I am not a hoarder--- I consider myself an ARCHIVIST!"
-
That's strange on the owners' part, Larry. So if there's anything that goes wrong between Friday afternoon and Monday morning, there's no one from Maintenance to get in touch with? So even Val never did any work on weekends?
-

Doesn't compute. Please try again.

I like DR GEORGE'S lamp.
Yes. I even went to look at the photos again on my computer instead of the small version on my little tablet.

Oh no!!!
Sorry to hear that! Oy. Been there, done it. But not for many years, and only in the western states.

Those are such fun, George! Thanks for posting them.
Thanks, Fred!

Darn, Best Buy doesn't open until 11:00 on Sunday. I should have called yesterday to confirm the Samsung tablet I want to get. Mine just keeps losing the battery charge, even when I am not using it.

DR George thanks for the detailed photos of your unique wall lamp. Without them I would not have been able to imagine it. Congrats on winning the bid.
Thanks, Jane! I just hung it there where I had a framed poster so that I could take the picture. I have to find a more permanent place that also has a plug nearby so that I can turn it on.
-
I like DR GEORGE'S lamp.
Thanks, Jrand! I had no intentions of bidding on anything, but I just saw that, and saw that there were no bids, and bid on a whim.

That's too bad, Jane. I hope you get exactly what you want!
-
Fortunately, my four year old Samsung tablet is doing as well as it always has been. :)
-
And now, I need to get out of bed, face the day, and get ready to go to the Lakewood Playhouse to see Forbidden Broadway!
I'll be back later with a report.

Getting the tablet vibes for DR JANE.

DR VIXMOM went through North Carolina like Sherman went through Georgia.....
Maybe we should call her Barney Oldfield now.

Beautiful weather here today.....short sleeves....no jackets needed.

Thanks. This issue has been a problem since May. Then I had purchased the mini iPad which I returned after Keith improved the problem. I worried on this trip I would run out of a charge and not have a book to read. It was more like home on the ship, otherwise it was a pain keeping a charge.
Keith fiddled with it again. He did what I did after we returned home (after searching online for instructions) but then he completely turned off my tablet and turned it back on. That seems to have helped, so once again I will wait a bit longer before purchasing a new tablet, at least until spring.
Fingers crossed.

Wow but lovely.
We have a cold spell and possible snow moving in, just when I need to go to the outpatient clinic Tuesday morning for my test. I am calling Monday morning cuz if I do that drink that makes me yell, cry, get chills & sick, and throw up, they had better be there to do the test.

Has anybody heard about the Skittles commercial musicalat Town Hall today? I guess it's already over
-
It's a lazy afternoon. I think I will put on a long BBC series of Dickens or Austen to while way the remainder of the day. First I must feed the kitties and make my tuna salad for the week.
Everything for my accountant is assembled and put into my bag for tomorrow.

Didn't the movie AGATHA with Vanessa Redgrave also deal with Agatha Christie's 11 missing days?
Folks, sometimes I feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone. This is one of those times.

Just got back from visiting my son, David, at his new house in Pflugerville.
Nice house.
Long drive.

One wonders if dear old Druxy actually reads the posts here. One wonders as one wanders.
-
BK, just sent you an overdue email.
-
I read a review yesterday of the new film The ABC Murders with John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot. It sounds ghastly.
-
Nothing like some bad films to destroy a trend. But Agatha's fairly indestructible. She'll survive.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Just crossed the state line into New York

I think I need another nap.

Traffic suddenly at standstill

from FJL last night:
Jeanne, I suspect their research must show them that overall, people at least getting their blood work done every year saves money for the insurance company in the long run.
_________________________________________________ ______________________________
I totally agree. I suspect there's also a face-saving factor. No one wants to hear "That was your patient and you didn't KNOW this??"
-
Vixmom, sorry to hear about the hefty "road tax" you'll have to pay. Not very nice to tourists or others passing through.
-
Vibes the plumbing problem in Larry's building is resolved soon and without undue inconvenience.
-
DR George thanks for the detailed photos of your unique wall lamp. Without them I would not have been able to imagine it. Congrats on winning the bid.

When it comes to tax records a little OCD can be very helpful. And save you lots of money.
-
One could even argue that the IRS fosters OCD.
-
"The IRS made me keep all this stuff!"
-
I'm hoping to go out for some food before it gets nasty again.
TTFN.
-
Why are all these people on the road? Shouldn't they all be somewhere eating chips and chili drinking beer and yelling at their TVs?
-
"The IRS made me keep all this stuff!"
For example, if you sell property like a house or condo, you save a lot by having a solid record and receipt trail of the improvements you made over the years. That's reason enough not to throw any old years out. :)
-
That is what I understand the Supper Bowl to be about

I didn't understand until recently that the new $10,000 tax exemption limit deduction was a combination of property tax and state and local income taxes.
-
I thought the limit was just on the property tax, which us bad enough.
-
Vixmom, sorry to hear about the hefty "road tax" you'll have to pay. Not very nice to tourists or others passing through.
Apparently they thought I should be passing through at a more leisurely pace

~~~~~~~~~~~Safe driving vibes to George both going to Lakewood and driving home.~~~~~~~~~~
-
Where is everybody? Watching the World Series?
-
I paid $24.00 to get WiFi on this flight in hopes that I could watch the Super Bowl. CBS Online will not load, so all I can get is score updates.
-
I was hoping that for $24.00 I could, at least, chat with some of you online, but there is no one here.
-
I guess I should have just torn up the money and thrown it in the air.
-
More fun than talking to myself.
-
I can’t even see the Super Bowl commercials.
-
And spell check isn’t even working today.
-
Alaska offers 500 free movies, but I can’t get the earbuds to work on my iPad.
Damn them! Damn them all to Hell!
-
Maybe I should just take a nap.
-
That way I won’t be able to sleep tonight when I get home.
-
So, then I can chat with myself on HHW tonight!!
-
I waved to Kevin as we passed by Alexandria
Was that you?
-
George should be getting home from Lakewood soon.
-
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is not a very long show.
I hope the Interstate traffic isn’t a mess.
Hi, TCB!
Watching "The Simpsons." I guess there's some sporting event on another channel.
We've called it that for years
-
Hi, TCB!
Hi, Kevin
We are home, unpacked, and pizza and wings were ordered, collected and eaten
-
TCB, you certainly didn't miss anything with that halftime show
-
Today I saw "They Shall Not Grow Old," a fascinating documentary using film taken by the BBC during World War I. Director Peter Jackson had hundreds of hours of film to work with, along with audio recordings of WW I veterans (from the 1960's and 1970s). There are some very disturbing images along with lighter scenes. It's incredible what those soldiers went through. It's really worth seeing.
I meant the Ratatouille.
I meant the Ratatouille.
Yes, I was joking that I saw the Ratatouille movie while I was having lunch ( but it doesn't really make sense, I guess)!
This is nice about Cher and her mom and sister. It says that Cher confronts her principal, but it's more like a very nice visit.
The first 80 seconds with Carol Burnett and her (now late) daughter Carrie Hamilton is touching. Second proofer's notes came in, so I've spent the past four hours inputting those that were easy, then running others by Muse Margaret, and now all those have been done. One more proofer to come and hopefully sooner than later.
Whoops, I am a day early.
Watching an oddity called Damon Runyon's When Irish Eyes Are Smiling. He produced it, but didn't write it.
And Monty Woolley gets top billing over June Haver and Dick Haymes.
Of course, there's a Salvation Army band in there. And Veda Ann Borg.
How was dancing?
I thought my head was going to explode. Doing a swing dance with a headache like this is no fun.
Thanks, Tom! The driving up and back was very easy going...not much traffic and no snow.
-
George should be getting home from Lakewood soon.
I didn't go directly home after the show. ::)
-
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is not a very long show.
No, but it was a good show. Sharry and Micheal were very good, as were the rest of the cast. Quite an enjoyable performance. I was able to visit after the show and Sharry took pictures. I wonder if she'll post them on FB.
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!!
This movie has one of the strangest production numbers I've ever seen. It's called Bessie in the Bustle and it features June Haver with a chorus of drag queens.
-
Today I saw "They Shall Not Grow Old," a fascinating documentary using film taken by the BBC during World War I. Director Peter Jackson had hundreds of hours of film to work with, along with audio recordings of WW I veterans (from the 1960's and 1970s). There are some very disturbing images along with lighter scenes. It's incredible what those soldiers went through. It's really worth seeing.
I saw previews for that and really want to see the movie. If it comes out on DVD, I'll probably get it for my dad. He's a real history buff.
Thanks, Jane! They worked! :)
I was hoping that for $24.00 I could, at least, chat with some of you online, but there is no one here.
I am sorry. I was changing the shits on our guest room bed. We have company coming on the 7th.
I am glad you are changing the ....... what you said, before the guests arrive.
LOL
Good night, all.
Oh no, did spellcheck make that change? It's been getting hyper lately, but I need it, so I don't want to turn it off.
Sure, we can blame it on spellcheck.
Freudian slip??
My sister's boyfriend posted this article on FB: CANADA’S SUPREME COURT RULES THAT LGBT RIGHTS COME BEFORE YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS (https://hopeforourtimes.com/canadas-supreme-court-rules-that-lgbt-rights-come-before-your-religious-beliefs/)!
That's amazing!
Vixmom, what was the highlight of your trip? The lunch with the in-laws?
;D
I hope that isn’t a sore subject to vixmom.
I felt bad for Vixbeau, he was really embarrassed
Yes, but thank goodness he was embarrassed.
DR TCB your money wasn't wasted.
I am going to send the bill to Bruce.
I thought my head was going to explode. Doing a swing dance with a headache like this is no fun.
No.
My eyeballs are tired from all this proofing and entering fixes. I did watch the documentary about the Fyre festival. Everything that is wrong with this world and its young, entitled, wealthy idiots is encapsulated in this ninety minutes.
Good evening.
I am home. Nicky and I have been cuddling on the bed, so I guess he has forgiven me.
I am glad you enjoyed the show, George. I thought it was terrific.
Welcome home, Tom! Glad that Nicky is in a cuddling mood!
I am glad we could do eight pages for my homecoming.
It was! One of the funniest (to me) moments was during the Les Miz section and they were circling around the stage and had to get on and get off the turntable! :))
-
And then when they started singing the REAL "The Song That Goes Like This" from Spamalot! :o I was wondering if they took it upon themselves to (illegally) add that, but then in the third (I think) verse, the lyrics were different, and it was obvious that it's in the script! Very funny!
-
Yes, the LE MIZ bit was great. I loved the Phantom and Ethel number.
Good bye, 1 Guest! Parting is such sweet sorrow!
Did you notice that Sharry wasn't wearing a microphone for that one number?? ;D
Actually, I'm not watching anything right now. I'm on my computer and surfing the net.
