Well, you haven't read the notes because I cannot post them because our web host did an update to WordPress that completely has a new form and editor that I do not understand at all and no one is responding to my calls and angry texts, so it probably won't be up until ten when they get in and can fix. I actually think I kind of figured out how to do it but I get "publishing failed" every time I try. And apparently I'm not an admin when I sign in so I can't get back the the classic form I understand. Needless to say, I am FURIOUS but it's not gonna happen tonight, I guess, and now it is time for you to post until the Panufnik cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HEARTSTRING!
-
Hello.
-
Not an admin ::)
-
And the head of the company, who usually deals with this stuff instantly is out of town until Friday, so I've written to support and I'll call first thing in the morning and will not get off the phone until they fix the damn thing.
-
The head guy saw my text and even though he's away he's trying to fix it now - so I'll be up for a while and pray for Rosemary's Baby that he can fix it so I can post this thing and not have to get up so early.
-
Page one? Really?
-
Notes are up, all is well, and it will be fine from here on in.
-
That's great that he responded so quickly!

Alert: BK is just 8 away from 98000.
-
98000 is a pretty round number.
-
I'm first after BK today?
Edit: I guess just first in the daylight hours. :)

All of TCB's talk about condos and HOAs calls for another look at:
Donny Osmond's condo/condom blooper
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-bt-xK_7OI
Donny and Marie do those "laughing break-ups" really well. I think they're tied with Steve and Eydie for quality break-ups.
-
By 1999, Donny had really eased up from when his steamy videos had to be made with no women in his scenes, and then edited to feel, well, steamy.
"Soldier of Love" Donny in 1989, always worth the time, because it's always just really fun

Good morning, all!

This morning I see my podiatrist. I like her very much. I'll leave here around 9:00.

Valentine's Day memories? Ha!
None, absolutely none. Ever.
But who's bitter?

DR JohnG, a Carmen ballet for Valentine's Day? A story of sexual obsession leading to murder?
Perfect.

Good morning, all.

Valentine’s Day? Pshaw!

I wonder if DR Elmore’s blog reported extra activity yesterday, since I was on there re-reading more stories.

A day without snow and ice is okay in my book, and we’ve got a few good ones here.

It’s supposed to hit 75 today and, drumroll, 87 tomorrow. Next week, it could get back in the 30s.

Yes. I had three visitors yesterday, and someone is on this morning.

Annabelle helped me carry the litter to the garbage and an empty litter carton and paper recyclables to the basement. She likes riding on my shoulder.

My favorite Valentine's Day memory is from the second grade when Mrs. Gee chose me to be the class Mailman to deliver all the valentines to my classmates.
It's been downhill since then.....

Glad that MR BK got to post the notes....I hate when technology holds us back.....and of course I hate CHANGES.....particularly those that are unannounced.

See's Candy has a romantic story and photo on their fb page. The photo is of a man holding a large heart shape box he has been taking into See's every year since 1954 to be filled with 5 pounds of chocolates for his wife.

I survived ny acupuncture treatment for allergies. It really wasn’t bad. Next one in a week.

Valentine's Day? I always wondered why we celebrate a Mafia massacre.
-
What a lousy day so far. I do not understand the point of "appointments" since doctors seem to never be able to keep on time. Stop fucking over my time.
-
Then, to add insult to injury, taxis are now charging you $3.30 just to get into the goddamned car before the meter starts running. A $5.00 trip with tip now coasts $10.00. Color me furious.

I hope everyone's day gets better.

Very annoying indeed.

We had our annual check-ups this morning, same office, same time, different doctors. Neither of us had to wait long for our appointments and we were out just minutes apart, the time it took for me to get my blood taken after Keith gave his.

Sweet.

While we were driving out of our complex we saw three of the staff running across the street very concerned. A resident was also there and stopped briefly to tell us a car had driven over the embankment across the street. We apologized we couldn't stop and continued to our appointment.
-
We stopped on the way home to apologize to the manager, and to find out if everyone was ok. The only way that accident could happen was if the person was impaired in some way.
-
Turns out a neighbor in our building was getting a ride to the airport from a friend who had a stroke and just kept going instead of turning. They both seem fine from the accident. He was coherent by the time the ambulance took him away and the resident who stopped to talk to us took the woman in our building to the airport.
-
Thank goodness one of the staff was outside and saw the accident. I don't think our neighbor is capable of walking up the embankment on her own. Who knows how long they would have been down there.

What makes you think I can afford either any more than this $3.30 surcharge?
-
And to add insult to injury, Thatch just threw up[ at my feet while I was having lunch.
Thinking on this, I realize what a large percentage of throw-ups here happen around the crack of dawn.
How often am I awakened early by the dulcet tones of glurk glurk glurk...

Only the crack of dawn. I recall many in the middle of the night. Plus always checking the ground when I got out of bed as not to step in it just in case I somehow slept through the noise.

I know.
-
DR elmore we take Uber home from the airport instead of a taxi as it is less expensive. Your credit card is charged and you know the amount before you get into the car.
I don't know if it still exists but there used to be a taxi discount card one could apply for in Los Angeles. I am not sure if it was for seniors or seniors on a limited income. Might NY have something like that?

Scary story DR JANE - glad everyone is okay.
We forgot to ask if they people were out of the car before the hard rain hit. It was only a light rain when we went into our doctors appointments and was pouring when we came out.

The rain let up so we went for a walk, shorter than usual but still decent.

There is one year that is memorable only because of what followed. It was the first Valentine's in our first home and I was disappointed Keith hadn't given me anything and probably made a bit of a fuss. What followed was Easter. Keith went to See's and got me a big delicious milk chocolate, chocolate cream Easter Egg. Then he made a BIG fuss I hadn't gotten him anything for Easter. He had me laughing hysterically and the egg was a special treat.
I then learned to just go with the flow. Gift or no gift, for any special event, what was important were the little everyday things that showed he loved me.

Back from a grilled chili, cheese, and onion hot dog and a side Caesar salad - really good today.

Hello, everyone.
-
Happy Valentine's Day to you all.
-
Every now and then I have a day when I don't feel motivated to do much. Today was one of those days. I've been very busy with tax prep--first the Tax Problem and now starting 2018--and no doubt needed a break. We've also had lots of rain. I think rainy days are my new snow days. I just want to relax and read.
The rain ended and I went out for some tacos. It was good to get out. The air is always so clear after the rain.

Be sure to read the HOA regulations. There can be lots of restrictions.
You'd better believe it!
Many years ago I purchased a townhouse in Alexandria, VA that was part of a condo association. It was in a charming mews setting, but after a while I noticed that a lot of maintenance was simply not getting done. I spoke to my neighbors and many felt the same. We ended up ousting the board and putting in people who were more attentive and I -- for my sins -- ended up as president. A neighbor who was an attorney and I went through the bylaws line by line. They were written in such a way that virtually ANYTHING could be against the rules if the board wished to interpret it that way.
We got the maintenance done and found interesting little areas of neglect along the way. I sold not long afterwards and purchased a "fee simple" townhouse a few blocks away. In Virginia, "fee simple" means that you're not part of a condo association. There's an abutting wall, but no common property. For me, this was a much better arrangement.
Condo association boards can raise the HOA fee enormously and on short notice. This happened to a real estate agent I knew. She and her husband suddenly owed $4000 to the board for some repairs. They sold and moved to a "fee simple" townhouse.
Condos have advantages, to be sure, but much depends upon who is on the board. It would be advisable to learn if there have been any special assessments and for how much. For most of us surprises of this sort are not welcome.

I'm pleased to hear you're giving acupuncture a try. I hope it helps and you see significant improvement.
Are you doing NAET (specifically for allergies) or regular acupuncture? I've never had NAET. Some people say it really helps and others say no.
Acupuncture can help with many ailments. You may find some other areas of your health improve, as well.
-
And it appears to be covered by my insurance.
Even better.

Time and again I see websites do a massive remodel and then crow about it, when, for the users, it's a total disaster. No one wants another learning curve; we just want to get our work done. HHW, BTW, had the most successful "remodel" I've seen, because it was virtually unchanged when it went to the new platform many years ago.

Valentines Day is for lovers. Of chocolate. So my chocolate and I will be relax and watch tv. Until I eat my valentine all up.

No, it was a one-time assessment. But they can come out of the blue -- and often. Understandable if there really is an emergency, but in my friend's case it was not.

Years ago I finally convinced Keith to stop buying roses for Valentine's Day as the cost was outrageous. Sunday he took me to See's so I could stock up on candy.

Our yearly fees just went up. Some of that raise will go into the emergency fund as protection from a big hit.

I'm halfway through it, and I was ready for a li'l break.

Nice long movie, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Hadn't seen it in so many years, though, that I probably couldn't credit the last time as having been in my adult life. :)

I laughed out loud to read Laura's second post about being sure of hookups right after the previous post

There's nothing creepier than sitting at my worktable with Annabelle helping me write, Thatch in his cat tree, and hearing something fall or move in another part of the apartment. Both cats react as you think, the spirits are active tonight. It creeped me out.

Congrats on BK's 98000 posts!
-
And on that note (B-natural), I'm off. Margo and I were supposed to usher for the opening night of Broadway Olympia's The Wedding Singer with Tom's and Jane's and my friend Sharry, but because of the weather and I would assuming cancelled rehearsals, they're postponing the opening until tomorrow. However, they said that we can come and watch their new final dress rehearsal, so we will. :D
Be back later!

Well, I don’t think anyone can accuse RHAPSODY IN BLUE as sticking to too many facts, but it was highly enjoyable and full of great music, and the cast don’t suck.

I'm back from seeing The Wedding Singer, and even though it was the final dress rehearsal, it was really well done!
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Goodnight.
Good night, Tom.
-
Sharry was a lot of fun!
-
She played the grandmother.
-
I knew a few other people in the cast, so it was fun seeing them in the show, too.
-
We didn't stick around afterward because they were just blocking the bows, and then would have to get out of costume and get notes, and all that, so we just left.
-
We both really enjoyed it and will actually usher tomorrow night as well as the previously scheduled Sunday evening. Highly recommended by both of us!
-
We found out that another reason that they postponed the opening was that the leading lady has laryngitis and probably can't do the show. :-\
-
The woman who played it tonight was from the ensemble (so she was familiar with the show) and had script pages, but this was only her second time playing the role!
-
Obviously, she would benefit with more rehearsal, but she definitely didn't embarrass herself.
-
Even if she has to perform with the script (and I've seen shows where that has happened), she sings really well and knows the role well enough to pull it off and have the audience be sympathetic to the situation.
-
The leading guy was very good!
-
He's a quadruple threat: singer, actor and dancer....and VERY cute! ;)

I feel pretty fortunate. My condo's HOA fees are only $215 a month, and all the buildings themselves have been well taken care of. And in all the years I've lived here, we've only had one special assessment of $300 per unit for new roofs.

One good thing about them (among so many good things about chocolates) is that they can be frozen and enjoyed throughout the year!
