Sunday afternoon, I'm ushering at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts for the latest installment of their silent movie series, Clash of the Wolves (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/silent-1902/).  According to the WCPA website, "This 1925 Western is one of only two surviving silent features starring Rin-Tin-Tin!"  I love going to these!

I hope the "national emergency" of the Orange POS squatting in the White House is the final nail in this ass's reign of terror.  In my opinion, the national emergency is getting this Wannabe Hitler out of office and into a prison cell.

I had a strange dream this week.  I do not remember all of it now, but it seemed to be in an altered version of the Miami University campus and there was some production in which we were all involved. What I do remember very clearly is walking through the grounds of the campus with two lady friends.  Loyce Martin, a friend of mine and DR Ginny's, was walking badly with a cane.  She suddenly threw the cane away and went leaping gracefully through the grounds.  The other lady was Marni Nixon.  When I awoke, I wondered why I was dreaming about two deceased friends.

My dream was an abstraction about scores and keyboard patches, from which I very gradually awoke, finding myself tightly sandwiched between two cats.

T.O.D.

I imagine that I should go to Redbox and rent a copy of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, since it's probably going to win some major Oscars next week.

The problem is that it's not my kind of music, nor my kind of movie.

I could also rent A STAR IS BORN, but since I love the Janet Gaynor version and, to a lesser extent, the Judy Garland remake, I'm really not motivated in that direction either.

Decisions...decisions...

Friday afternoon greetings!  Richard and I have been on an excursion I’ve been needing to take for quite a while now.  We took my 10-year-old MacBook to the Apple Store in Cincinnati and I purchased a spiffy gold MacBook Air.  Left both computers with the geniuses for data migration and I should get them back tomorrow or Sunday.  We then had our Valentine lunch at Montgomery Inn and did a couple of errands on the way home.

Thatch has decided he is brave enough to beard me in my lair, and he has spent the past 30 minutes jumping on and off the computer table to watch me.  When he feels I get too close, he jumps off, but he's back five minutes later.  This is progress.

Picked up a package and got three pieces of lox and some cream cheese from Jerry's and brought it home and had to lox and bagel sandwiches - very good.  Helper is on his way and we'll see how pleasant or unpleasant that conversation will be, but I've basically had it and we'll either come to a meeting of the minds or we won't.  I've got two other candidates standing by.

LOL, DR Jeanne, when I did the Apple online quiz to see about trade-in value the result was, “Your computer is ready to be recycled.”  Both the sales person and the migration tech asked first if it would even power up and I said, “Well, I just used it this morning!”  When I offered to leave the power cord they declined and said they keep a supply of “legacy” accessories.  I’ll get it back and Rob will use it for some gaming.  He’s been doing that with Richard’s even older MacBook, which will now become his parts donor.

I just read that, at the age of 94, Rosamunde Pilcher has passed away.

Following is a cute bit I read about her young daughter.

"“I always practice my dialogue out loud,” she said. “Once, when Fiona was small, she had a friend over, and I was hanging up the washing and running through my dialogue. Her friend said, ‘Look, your mummy’s lips are moving.’ And Fiona said, ‘Don’t be stupid. She’s writing.’”

This has been an all bagel, lox, and cream cheese day.  No sweets.

Carmen the ballet was interesting. Canned music, but well recorded.

The Carmen, Don Jose and Micaela were all excellent.

The Escamillo was a little too flamboyant to be believable as a love of Carmen's.

Every time I hear the Bizet score, I think of Gilligan's Island and their musical version of Hamlet.

To fight or flee
To fight or flee
I ask myself to be or not to be.

I think the best part of the evening was the approach to the romance. Good girl Micaela lets Don Jose lead her in their pas de deux, following him submissively through each step. When Carmen dances with Don Jose, she's in charge. She never makes a move that she doesn't want to or direct. And it ends with them horizontal on the floor with her on top. Very suggestive and very right. Don Jose has never had a woman like her, and he's smitten.

Listening to music.  New master sounds excellent, and I did the inlay card info so all that remains are the liner notes.

I forgot that I must be up early tomorrow to do a musical theatre workshop at the Group Rep.  Come June, they asked me to put together a fund raiser cabaret in my style, using mostly the members but I will bring in a couple of our people, too.

And then in the local newscast that followed, they said Ted graduated from Tyee High School.  Huh?  He was a proud graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1965.

Although she was hesitant in some of the high notes early in the show, I think she was able to sing the whole show without the audience really knowing that she had had some voice issues earlier in the week.

DR George I'm glad you liked my VD story.

I don't freeze chocolates,   maybe I should try it but somehow it doesnt seem right.  I also don't eat them cold.  They should be roon temperagture, better if it is a warm room and not a cold one.

Jane, what I meant is that they can be frozen to preserve them, then you can take them out and, of course, let them thaw to room temperature (or maybe overnight in the fridge first, then on the counter) and enjoy them much later than when they were purchased. ;D

Have you tried doing this, George? I'm wondering if they degrade at all.

I would think they do and it is best to buy just a few at a time.

But if you do this regularly, you always have some in the freezer, and every couple of days you take one (some) out and they're ready when you want them.

What makes you think I would leave them in the freezer long enough to do this ;)

Well, I have put things in my freezer to make them last longer, and as a deterrent to eating them all at once.
