Well, you've read the notes, the notes stumbled-through and were twitchy and bitchy and manic, and now it is time for you to post until the twitchy and bitchy and manic cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SASHAY!
-
First post after BK.
-
And where is Dino on this Saturday night?
-
Getting plenty of sleep so he will be ready for church in the morning.
-
Jan, some of these yards would require a herd of goats.
-
I think there may have been a kitty out on the balcony.
-
We have a new and very beautiful Siamese in the complex.

We have a new and very beautiful Siamese in the complex.
Hopefully, this new cat won't torment Nicky.

And the word of the day is: SASHAY!
Would that be The Sashay Redemption?

Thank you, I hope not either.
-
She is a beauty!

I have been listening to GUYS AND DOLLS. I did enjoy doing that show. I should probably pull out the DVD of our production (for educational purposes only). I have never watched it.
-
We recorded (also for educational purposes only) Bunbury. Pug, the director, and her husband were going to put together a video of the show from the various recordings and and angles taken over several days. Hopefully, they can put together a good cut.

That would be cool. That is kind of what the people who filmed SCROOGE did. They recorded it 3 or 4 times and then edited it together.
-
Did jan retire for the night?

Hopefully, it'll fit together from all the different cameras, and that the different sound tracks will all sound the same...or at, least similar enough.
-
I guess George also retired. So good night.
-
Well, you are there. Good night, George.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Finished the "series" - pretty decent with a good ending.
-
Listening to music and I'll get to bed in an hour or so - will take a nice hot shower first.

And on that note (E-natural), I'm off to bed. I get to sleep in again, but not as long as I want because of the ushering. My friend Margo is also ushering for the same show, so we'll probably go out to eat afterward.
Have a good day, all!

Poor Nicky crying :(

DR George I am clad you didn't have a cat fight in your yard.

Ditto!

I only had 5 hours of sleep, darn. Maybe I can get another hour in.
-
Good morning, all.
-
A matinee day. And, naturally, the nicest day of the week outdoors.
And per yesterday’s TOD, it’s also the day I miss seeing a certain favorite large format film in ideal conditions and in the best of company. Just shoot me now.

I mean, I love me my music, but... but...

Nice schedule. I'd like to see the Faust. Maybe they'll show it here.

I'm still reading Where the Crawdads Sing. I've gotten to where the author has gone full Harper Lee and it's too much like Mockingbird for my tastes. It's more like a paint-by-numbers kit, which is too bad because the earlier part of the novel was much more effective, if implausible.
-
It's storming outside right now. I think a few inches of rain has fallen. Maybe some hail.
-
I don’t know why I thought the FX series FOSSE/VERDON started tonight, but it’s Tuesday night and I’ve set the DVR to capture it. For better or worse, I look forward to watching.
And I’m absolutely determined now to sit down this week and learn how to transfer these programs to a hard drive and to disc to preserve them in all of their HD glory. I might not feel that way about this series, but I have some good stuff that needs to be rescued from the DVR to free up the space and protect it for the future.

DR Jane asked:
We watched season 1, episode 1 of Pushing Daisies. Did anyone watch this show? We enjoyed it and plan to watch the next episode.
I watched it when it was on. I know I liked it. But it was so long ago that I can't remember how much.

I had wanted to sleep in for as long as I wanted, but two kitties with mischief on their minds and too much free time decided otherwise. I was out of bed by 8:30, but I would have happily slept till noon.
-
When I got up and dressed, I decided yo clean the food dishes and the litter and take Missy for her outing. Since we've returned, she's been impossible, climbing and jumping everywhere, spilling my coffee through a huge running leap onto my computer table. Thatch has been chattering away at me as well.

Last night I had a long creepy dream about renting a huge house with a friend. The vicinity was somewhere between Cincinnati, Miami University, and my Aunt Jean's back yard and driveway. The house overlooked Miami University and came with a middle-aged Latina housekeeper, and it was rented to us cheap because it was haunted and no one would live there. In my bedroom there was a noisy bird-something toy that kept returning, no matter how many times I carted it to the basement, and when I was there alone, I kept the volumes of the radio and stereo turned up high to keep from hearing the curious noises from other floors of an empty house.

So here's one of those Facebook mysteries I often wonder about but usually scroll right past. Let's make it a Sunday question, shall we?
I was reviewing my FB news feed and there's a post that leads off with "Bruce Kimmel was tagged in this". The poster is a Ryan Blanchard, and it says "Ryan Blanchard is with Bruce Kimmel and 6 others". Ryan's post reads:
"I saw this on shark tank and knew I had to try it! I have been taking it for about 3 weeks and already lost 20 pounds! Strongly recommend it!" Now does this sound like a real post from someone talking to their friends? It's a video and URL that I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
But I did look at Ryan Blanchard's profile to see if he looks like a real person. Well, he looks real, and maybe BK (the only mutual friend) actually knows him. But I still didn't trust what looks like an utterly bullshit post that very likely doesn't come from him.
Next I look at the "6 others" tagged:
Brian Patrick Murphy
Brian O'Brien
Brian Reiser
Brooks Braselman
Brian Walker
Bryan Bennett
Now isn't that just a hoot? Obviously the Bruces come right after these. Some cretin or entity has hijacked some huge list on Facebook. (I also couldn't help but notice "Ryan - Brian - Bryan" etc. Potentially lots going on here with algorithms.)
So my question is: BK, do you see that you're tagged on this? I ask because when I see these things that reference people I know, I never see any comments or likes or anything -- from anyone -- and I wonder if they even know their names are on them. Which means I have to wonder if anyone ever sees MY name on any of them.
Another one I often see is the Ray-Ban "ad" hawking $199.00 Ray-Bans on sale for $19 or some such, always with someone I know tagged at the top of the post.
This crap truly makes me want to declare that "someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets."

Show vibes for MR BK & Co.

Today is the first session of auditions for SHE LOVES ME. I may drive down to watch.....and see everyone to get the season off to a good start.....
-
Yesterday was yard work day.....and much was done by my sister Paula and her husband Larry.....

I wonder if Bruce needs to report this post.
-
Yes, whoever he is he's been hacked and I took down a post yesterday and will now take this one down - I reported it yesterday and alerted him but he hasn't done anything about it, clearly, so I will unfriend him until he does.

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.

No posts in three hours.

I shall shortly be on my way to Vitello's for sound check and then show.
-
Back - from a good but occasionally hair-raising matinee in which odd little technical things seemed to be plaguing the jernt. Fortunately, not in the orchestra.

Can anyone report one of these as being an obvious hack, or must it be one of the people involved?

The town ready to lynch the outsider. The blacks only in the balcony. The well-intentioned attorney slowly explaining the court to the defendant. It's Scout on trial.

Had brunch with friends today, followed by a group visit to another friend, who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I hope we didn't wear her out, but it was good to see her.

This evening is a birthday
party dinner for another friend.

My family curse. Vibes for your friend.

We changed out our walk today and it was nice. We drove and parked, then walked to Fort Vancouver, then to the downtown area to see how they changed the growers market. We like what they did. The we walked to the waterfront area that has been renovated. While not completed it looks very nice. Last stop, back to our car. We did a rather large circle that was about 5 miles.
-
As we crossed the street at the corner of the library, the one DR George spent time at for a work event, we saw people holding signs. We couldn't see if they were protesting something at the library or not and I can't find anything in the news about it.
-
There would some good folks at auditions today....and some other folks.
-
Another session tomorrow - but I do not need to be there.
-
Good evening.
-
My friend from college sent me this photo from the campus newspaper for the play BLACK COMEDY. That is me in the middle playing the flaming Harold!
-
The first, last, and only big hit that I did in college. Word of mouth spread so quickly that by closing night we were selling out.
-
My straight roommate was so horrified by my performance that I don't think he spoke to me for a week.
-
LOL! Good times.
-
I like your haircut in that photo DR TCB.
-
Sunday evening greetings! Yesterday I attended a big fundraiser for the local presence of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The guest speaker was Thane Maynard, executive director of the Cincinnati Zoo. He’s also the 90-second naturalist on NPR. He was very entertaining and ended his presentation with a show and tell - his assistant walked all around the room carrying, first, a barn owl, then a baby alligator.
-
This afternoon we attended the unveiling of a new historical marker at the Middletown Canal Museum. Fr. Richard delivered the invocation.
-
Hello
-
My straight roommate was so horrified by my performance that I don't think he spoke to me for a week.
That's funny, sad but funny. It is nice to see you in your college days.
-
I like your haircut in that photo DR TCB.
So do I.
-
I got up at 7 this morning and showered, shampooed, dried, dressedand got me to churchby 8 to open up the place
-
Started the coffeemakers going then popped into the sanctuary to reset the altar
-
Then back to the kitchen to get coffeehour set up
-
Back to the sanctuary by 8:45 to put on my ally and organize. The communion assistants
-
I was assisting minister and lesson reader today
-
After the service I reset the altar after re supplying my handy dandy portable communion kit
-
Then I had a quick visit to coffeehour (which was being manned by one of the young men) to chat with Mom and then off for egg sandwiches
-
Then Vixdad went out to one of his games and I went back to church for a meeting
-
Otherwise are you enjoying the book?
I am. I'm nearing the end.
-
Four!

My friend from college sent me this photo from the campus newspaper for the play BLACK COMEDY. That is me in the middle playing the flaming Harold!
The title of my next novel: The Flaming Harold.

I have finished Cleo from 5 to 7. Now watching a documentary from 2003 in which Varda gets her two leads back together and they talk about the making of the film.
I think I'm going to enjoy all of these extras. One features Varda and Madonna talking, two are shorts that Varda directed early in her career.
-
Great photo, TCB!
What other plays did you do in school?
-
Hi, Fred. Hi, Jane.
-
I could have made that two posts.
-
Now watching Varda's short, L'Opera Mouffe, which has a George Delerue score written in Weill style.
-
Hi, Fred. Hi, Jane.
Hi John.

Back from one of the greatest Kritzerlands ever, at least for me it was. There'd been so many issues at the stumble-through, and I'd given so many notes, but everyone showed up and just hit it way out of the park. I'll say more in the notes, but when I arrived and saw they'd completely reconfigured the room so weirdly that I kind of went berserk. Instead of our long tables, the first two rows were now side by side tables, twelve to a row, like theater seating. So they had to figure out how to add a two-top to the front row since I always have fourteen - Nick, our wonderful sound guy, figured it out quickly. I hate surprises and I simply don't get why they couldn't have let me know in advance so I could get used to it. So, in my opening remarks I went right there and addressed it and it was hilarious - I said I felt I was being judged like American Idol and said I'd try to get used to being at The Last Supper, which is what it looked like. The laughs were really big, and then my first real joke of the evening killed - I mean a HUGE laugh that kept building and then I made it a runner throughout the show. I live for that stuff. So, I personally had the most fun I have ever had at one of our shows. I was, as I put it at some point, "off the rails." More in a bit.

And on that note (E-natural), I'm off to bed. I get to sleep in again, but not as long as I want because of the ushering. My friend Margo is also ushering for the same show, so we'll probably go out to eat afterward.
Have a good day, all!
Well, the ushering for the silent movie was quite easy today.
-
I took tickets at the door and there were no problems, at all.
-
There were under 300 people there today, but it was a great crowd and they come regularly to these silent movies.
-
Instead of one long movie, there were three separate movies that featured dogs.
-
"The Center goes to the dogs with an all-comedy triple feature: Charley Chase’s hilarious Dog Shy (1926), Charlie Chaplin’s equally wonderful A Dog’s Life (1918), and the Our Gang comedy Dog Heaven (1927), starring Pete the Pup. Featuring dog-themed organ solo pieces to really get your tail wagging!"
-
After the show, Margo and I did go out to eat.
-
We went to Mercato Ristorante (https://www.mercatoristorante.com/), a local restaurant that has very good Caesar salad.
-
I had mine with chicken.
-
I also used a gift card that I bought from Costco for myself.
-
You buy two cards for a total value of $100, but you only have to pay $80!
-
And they don't expire!
-
You can't beat that!
-
I also get gift cards from Costco for Taco Time (https://tacotimenw.com/) and Meconi's Subs (http://www.meconissubs.com/).
-
You buy $50 worth of cards for only $40!
-
It's the same rate, but you only have to spend $40 for those, whereas the Mercato's cards are only available in $80 increments.
-
...which is fine by me since they never expire.
-
;D
-
And now, it's time for the...

PAGE FIVE DANCE!!
-
DR George I am clad you didn't have a cat fight in your yard.
Thanks, Jane! Me, too!

Larry, my sister's boyfriend can do that, and can even make Blu-ray discs of them, and he said that he'd teach me, and I've gotten the programs that he uses, but I just haven't had him come over and teach me, yet.
-
One of my DVRs is about 80% filled, and most of that is stuff that I want to make Blu-rays. My other DVR is about 60% filled with stuff that I want to keep.
-
Someday...hopefully, sooner rather than before it's too late. ;)

Nothing in the news. It must have been too small of a group.

My college roommate was so freaked out. It was really funny. Of course, this was only a few months after Stonewall, so gays were not really “out.”
-
George, was the silent movie shown at the theater where I saw HAIRSPRAY, or was this actually at the Washington Center?
-
Good night, Jane.
-
Bruce, congratulations on the successful show.
-
George, was the silent movie shown at the theater where I saw HAIRSPRAY, or was this actually at the Washington Center?
It was at the Washington Center. They have a silent movie series where there's live organ music for silent movies, and it's three times a season.
-
The organist, Dennis James, lives in upstate New York, but does these kinds of performances around the country.
-
The other plays that I did at Central Washington State were GALILEO, JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK, CARMEN, THE TEMPEST, and SEXUALLY SPEAKING, WE HAVE NO BUSINESS IN VIETNAM.
-
Until BLACK COMEDY came along, allmost all the shows done on campus were “The Classics.” We used to draw maybe 40 to 60 people per performance, if we were lucky.
-
The first night of BLACK COMEDY we drew the usual 40 people. The second and third nights where closer to 100+ each night. By the time we started the second weekend, the word of mouth had spread all over campus. Our last three performances drew audiences of several hundred people.

Hi, jan.

I am looking forward to reading BK’s notes.

The other plays that I did at Central Washington State were GALILEO, JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK, CARMEN, THE TEMPEST, and SEXUALLY SPEAKING, WE HAVE NO BUSINESS IN VIETNAM.
About 10 years ago, I was cast in a production of JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK, but it all fell through before we got too far into rehearsals. :-\
