Well, you've read the notes, the notes were hard-knock, and now it is time for you to post until the hard-knock cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POLYSEMY!
-
First post after BK.
-
BK, I am so sorry that you whacked your head. If you have a bag of frozen peas, you might hold them on the lump. It might ease the swelling and the pain.
-
If that doesn’t work, stop by and I will give you a Vicodin.

Well, I'm going to take the MAST test...just because. I'm sure that it can't take as long as the class, so I'm going to go for it. I found out that if I don't get the 80% or more on the first try, I can take it again. Whew! I'll find out how well I did as soon as I'm finished with it, which is a good thing. So, I'll say good night, Tom and jan.
Have a good day, all!
-
I was hammering in a nail while angry (big mistake) and hit the side of my finger with the hammer. I split the tip of my finger for about half a inch. I try very hard never to use a hammer again.
-
Good night, George. Break a leg on the test.

That would keep me away from hammers, unless I can get someone else hold the nail.
-
Okay, when I nod my head, hit it!
-
Good night, jan.

Well, that was easy! The on-line class took a little over 3 hours and had six sections. Each section had a 10-question quiz and on three of them, I got 100%, and on the other three, I got 90%! And then on the actual final test which only took about 10 minutes, I got a 90%! You just need to get 80%, so I'm now legal to pour drinks in the state of Washington!
-
Not that I know anything about actually mixing drinks...that's a ballgame of a different color. ;) But certainly as far as the Washington Center for the Performing Arts is concerned, I can now again be a barback or serve beer and wine.

;D

Good night, George. Break a leg on the test.
Thanks, Tom!

And NOW, I'm off to bed!

Vibes for MR BK's injured head.
-
I never received the wrap up call.....I hope to begin the book today.
-
Virginia won the NCAA tournament last night, but they are NOT the champions.
One of their players KNOWINGLY double dribbled in the semi final game and went on down the court to score two points.
He KNOWS he cheated and EVERYONE saw him....the fact that it wasn't called doesn't matter - everyone KNOWS Ty Jerome double dribbled. Cheating....Fake Champion.
Final game should have been Texas Tech and Auburn.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning

Sorry about your head BK

TOD
I am sure there have been many over the years but the most recent was slicing the tip of my right forefinger with the vegetable slicer
-
It's getting better
-
Not a sports follower so I am afraid I don't share your outrage, JRand
-
We're you rooting for the other team?
-
I remember the term double dribbling, but don't really remember what it means

Well I must get me in the shower

I haven't bumped my head on a kitchen cabinet in years, but I well remember doing it and what it feels like.
The cabinet doors in my kitchen here are too low, but if you were bent over doing something at the counter and stood up straight fast without checking, I suppose it could still happen on a door or on the cabinet itself. But I think at some point I simply decided it wasn't ever going to happen again, and so far, so good.
My first times doing this were in Franklin Park Apartments in Hollywood. I absolutely remember that. And it happened a few times elsewhere over the years.
Oh--I've done it with an open car door (my own car), if I'm standing outside of the car retrieving something from inside. Stand up too fast, and you get a surprise as to where the frame of the door was. So I guess I've transferred my hard knocking head mishaps in the kitchen to the car. Somehow I think the kitchen ones always hurt more.
-
Good morning, all!

My brothers Randy and Macbeth meet a new realtor tomorrow. I hope this bodes good.
-
As to the TOD, slicing fingers on something in the kitchen is at the top of the list. Whether it's on some kind of cutting/slicing tool or on a broken glass in the sink, this is something not to be taken lightly. A couple of times I've considered myself lucky to have stopped the bleeding and healed without having to seek medical help. Be careful, everyone.
Next on the list is stubbing toes. Third would be whacking a knee or shin. These are navigational issues. It's simply amazing how distracted we can be sometimes in just walking from point A to point B in our own abodes.
-
New, improved real estate vibes for DR Elmore!
-
The shins are usually knocked as I'm walking around my bed frame. It's a wooden platform bed.
The knees, I'm not sure, and that's less common than other stuff.
But the toes? Oh my god, the toes. How many times over the years? And there is nothing like that moment when you've just done it and sometimes you also hear a crack, and you wait that second or two for the pain to arrive, as your fury builds...

T.O.D.
About 3 weeks ago, I was helping my wife bring in the groceries, and I smashed the hatchback of her car down on the bridge of my nose.
No break. Lots of blood. No stitches.
It's okay now, but there will probably always be a little mark there.

Tuesday morning greetings! Slow start this morning after last night's AAUW meeting and watching basketball until almost midnight. While, like DR JRand, I would have like to see different teams (Auburn and Michigan State), last night's game was fun to watch.
-
Today I get to putter until Richard and I go to the members' preview of this weekend's AAUW book sale.
-
I could spend all day answering the TOD ::)
-
Most recently, believing I was being careful yet I managed to fall and permanently damage my elbow.
-
"No good deed is left unpunished" By far the worst event were my good intentions that resulted in my shoulder being broken in four places.
-
Stupid was using my right wrist to block a fall causing it to break.
-
Stupid was using my left wrist, instead of my voice, to stop two large dogs from crashing into me resulting in a broken wrist.
-
Stupid, though I was protecting my son, was dropping my right hand in front of a dog fight and ending up in the hospital on heavy duty antibiotics as not to lose said hand after a dog bit it.
-
This is getting depressing so I will skip a few serious falls.
-
I have had two mild concussions. The second one was when I did a backwards somersault off of a twin bed, forgetting that we had just moved the other bed across the room. I was 16 at the time. When my father explained I had a concussion I immediately had an aha moment realizing that time I banged my head when I was ten also resulted in a concussion.
-
Actually the roll off of the twin bed was hysterical even if I was in pain.
-
Oh, I just remembered the time in my early twenties when I slammed my head between the car door and the top of the car, where the window stops. I no longer pull the car door hard while climbing into the car, especially in an unfamiliar car.
-
Keith went to comfort me and got his watch caught into my long hair. By the time we untangled we were both laughing pretty hard. The temple on my right side is still sensitive to this day.

DR George were there any questions on the test you felt improved your ability to serve wine & beer?
No. It's all just about the laws and the legal requirements of the establishment, and what needs to be done when you observe an AIP (Apparently Intoxicated Person), required reporting, that sort of thing. Nothing about actual serving practices.
-
Good afternoon to all
-
Been busy with my regular day job and rewriting my play that is going on in June.
-
Another theater in Tampa has picked up the play for production, but don't have a date yet. There is however a director attached to it.
-
The actor playing the lead in my play in June won The Best Supporting Actor in a Musical at the Carbonel Awards (South Florida Tony Awards) last night for his role as the Major General in a regional revival of The Pirates of Penzance
-
And a Tony Nominated Actor has expressed interest in doing the play in NYC or on tour.
And that's the update
-
I've been to market. I dressed lightly since it was so beautiful and warm yesterday. Stupid move, since the temperature is 30 degrees lower than yesterday.

It is nice to see you, especially with exciting news.
-
The weather report said no rain today. The first time it rained we were lucky and were already in the car driving home before it began.
The second time it rained it poured, just after we headed out for a walk. I was glad I wore my raincoat and since it was drizzling Keith grabbed an umbrella.
-
The second half of our walk the sun was shining and I was able to take my rain jacket off.

Back from a good lunch meeting. Some issues worked out so all is a go on the project. I'm going to have a super busy September through the end of the year, which is fine, actually. After September, the next Kritzerland show won't be until December.

I will never understand the USPS and their "speedy" priority delivery times.

I don't think it's about insurance, just the laws of Washington state and how to follow them.

Hello, George!
-
Excellent news, Michael.
-
Hi, Jane!
-
I came home from work early today because of my allergies. Took a fake Benedryl and only slept two hours. I'm staying in for the night.
-
I have finished reading The Book.
I shall ponder it this evening and then write a review......
-
Property vibes for DR ELMORE.
Great updates from DR MICHAEL.
-
I, too, have hit my head and forehead on open cabinet doors....but most recently...similar to DR DRUXY.....the hatchback on my car was opening, but I leaned in too soon and bashed my head on it....OUCH!
-
When I looked in the mirror this morning I see that the knock had a nice little gash. There was no blood last night, so I was surprised.
-
Looking forward to Jrand's review, at least I hope I am.
-
Listening to music.
-
I'll finish the Quiller Memorandum soon.
-
And I have another to watch after that.
-
Hoping dear reader George will record Fosse/Verdon tonight - and then send it me immediately :)
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Yes, I'll be happy to read vixmom the book.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Hi, Jane!
Hi John. Sorry, I went away for a bit.

Did it help your allergies?
-

It must not have been very deep. Do you have a bruise or headache?
-
Hoping dear reader George will record Fosse/Verdon tonight - and then send it me immediately :)
Thanks for the reminder! I almost forgot about watching it, myself!
-
Yes, I'll be happy to read vixmom the book.
I'll expect your call, don't forget the three hour time difference
-
Jane-damn girl, how are you still alive? I've beat myself up a lot but you take the cake. No more injuries for you!
-
Bruce, you should arrange a conference call and read the book to all of us.
-

I blame it on a meat deficiency

The biggest miracle DR Jan is that I have not, so far, succumbed to my family curse of Ovarian/peritoneal cancer. Knock on wood, I still don't have it.
-
And that you never will!

Sorry. Can you use Rhinocort? It is sold over the counter these days though it does take some time before you feel the difference. I fortunately am not bad enough to need it anymore, most times anyway.

Sad but true.

I've gone back to The Old Man & the Gun, which I never finished. I think the drug is making me sleepy now. I may skip this until later.
-
I blame it on a meat deficiency
I blame it on an overdose of thyroid medication.
-
Vixmom, do you think a big fat steak would help her?
Oh goodness my vegetarian diet might me why I don't have colon cancer. Too many cancers in my family-lol
-
Vixmom, do you think a big fat steak would help her?
Absolutely
-
Jane, are you vegetarian or vegan? what's a good dish for ignorant carnivores to try?
-
;)
-

Me, too. :)
Definitely!
-
Jane, are you vegetarian or vegan? what's a good dish for ignorant carnivores to try?
Vegetarian though I eat fish when we are out if I can't get tofu.
There are so many vegetarian dishes. I am not big on substituting vegetarian food. Are you a big meat eater?
-
When our younger son, and at the time a strict vegan, was living with us I felt thinner and healthier when he cooked for me. He did just that after my surgery to put a pin in my right broken wrist.
I was lucky that pin came out. The ugly horrible 8 pins holding the plate in place, in my elbow, are probably there for life.
-
;)
;D
-
Headache is pretty much gone, sort of.
-
My friend's son is vegan and cooks for himself as my friend loves filet mignon. He even fixes his own meal at Thanksgiving. I try to eat more veggies but sometimes I need a steak. What veggies, etc., should try to include?
-

Craig made a delicious Thanksgiving meal of vegan fried chicken (?). I can't remember exactly was the meat version was supposed to be. It was actually home made seitan which I normally dislike. It was always a treat when he made anything with seitan. I had every intention of making it once he moved out and never did. Once of my passions used to be cooking & baking but no longer.
-
DR Jan what veggies do you like?
I often make a big chopped cabbage salad adding various ingredients. We serve it for company and it seems to be a big hit. I add chopped cauliflower and/or spinach, carrots, celery, beans, blueberries, tofu, corn, toasted slivered almonds, canned mandarin oranges, anything that strikes my mood.
Tonight Keith sauteed onions & shiitake mushrooms and added some corn. Often he adds string beans or Brussels sprout, or snow peas.
-
Oh, and I mustn't forget broccoli. We eat a lot of that.
-
Getting into the tax time home stretch.

Headache is pretty much gone, sort of.
Sort of sounds about right after one day.
