Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of not only the third burger but the first and second burgers, too, and now it is time for you to post until the cows who weren't the burgers come home.
-
And the word of the day is: THOLE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Today, I think I'm ushering for a local production of a play called Equivocation. My friend Margo didn't quite specify if she signed me up or not. So, I'll dress as if I am (they just want dark clothes, no white shirts), and confirm with her today.
-
I'm sure that I'll be ushering. ::)
-
But first, time for bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to everyone. Hope everyone has a great weekend
-
Good morning folks
-
It's dark and rainy outside
-
Still have the OBC recording of Lazarus in the car. My commute is such that it's hard to finish an entire song between my house and office
-
Vixdad and I have been revisiting Boston Legal this week so there's probably a BL disc still in the DVD player
-
Good morning, all. Viva Fiesta!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I’m slowly getting back into Fiesta mode. I’m pouring beer at Oyster Bake tomorrow anfld going to the country club for their fireworks display. We’ll see about other things.
-
I am home today with little to do. The kitties and I will probably get into mischief.
-
BK,
This is one of those occasions where I completely agree with you.
PHANTOM LADY could have been a classic noir, but once Franchot Tone makes his entrance, there is absolutely no question as to who the "bad guy" is. Indeed, the only thing missing was a flashing sign over his head that read "Bad Guy!".
PHANTOM LADY is one of the films I watched when I was writing my play, B MOVIE, which deals with the Franchot Tone, Barbara Payton, Tom Neal scandal.

I'm a veteran publicist, so you'll hopefully forgive the plug.
:D

T.O.D.
If I get motivated enough, maybe I'll drive up to RedBox and rent THE MULE.
-
My son, David, and his lady are joining us for lunch on Sunday.
it's nice having him 30-40 minutes away from us, as opposed to his being in Los Angels and our being in Austin.
-
Is anybody watching THE ENEMY WITHIN?
We caught the first episode; not sure we will go back to it.
It seems like it's a female version of THE BLACKLIST with James Spader, which we quit after the first season.
Any thoughts?
-
Good morning!
-
Annabelle is quite affectionate this morning. She's been purring, clucking, and trilling up a storm, and insisting on being held, which was a problem while I tried to clean the litter. On patrol she lounged in the hall like Claudette Colbert in Cleopatra, played tag, posed in the windows, and climbed all over me. She wears me out.
-
We had a bit of rain and a little wind, but nothing like what was predicted and talked about ALL DAY yesterday.
-
My view has at last been posted.

-
Shower time.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It is Friday, and there seems to be nothing in any of my players!
-
I didn't even watch my Fosse/Verdon yet. Shame on me.
-
Watching last night's run-through was most enjoyable. Back into the pit tonight for the closing weekend.
-
What was the best staged part DR CHAS SMITH?

Nice review.

My son, David, and his lady are joining us for lunch on Sunday.

I wish our children were not so far away. Thank goodness for video chatting.
-
What was the best staged part DR CHAS SMITH?
That's a good question, DR Jrand68. I hadn't seen a production in a long time and I don't know how much the staging generally varies, if it varies much at all. I think this one follows the general look of the 2006 revival (there's a full video on YouTube). That having been said, while all of our lead characters were well chosen and each vignette is fascinating, I am most blown away by the tight ensemble dancing. Again, not having seen it in forever, I might end up saying the same thing about other productions. I guess I'm just a sucker for the concept.

The orchestra is in a tiny black box theater on another floor. Brass and reeds and five pit singers (the cut dancers) are on the audience risers, the MD is at the left, I'm on the stage with the drums and percussion and the bass player.
-
So, Chester (my dog) and I drove up to the Redbox at Walgreen's and rented THE MULE for tonight.
-
Friday morning greetings! Busy weekend ahead. I'm selling books from 1-3pm today and tomorrow. Mary Linda's parents are coming from Michigan tonight to help with painting at the kids' new house. On Sunday, Fr. Richard and I are going to Lima for him to provide a Palm Sunday eucharist to his former parishioners.
-
DR Ginny will Mary Linda's parents be staying with you?
-
Keith has rented VICE from Redbox. We too will be making a stop at Walgreen's today.
-
From DR John:
As an actor, Fosse should also be mentioned for My Sister Eileen. He has a great dance with Tommy Rall in that one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE0AvrTjDD0
I just now watched this. Thank you very much.
-
Good morning.
-
It's a bad sky today for photos, so I stayed home.
-
Elmore, I wish Leonard liked me half as much as Annabelle loves you. He has nothing to do with me.

That's a great theater, ChasSmith!
-
Nice photos DR CHAS SMITH.
Hmmmm....I have never used RedBox......
-
Thanks DR JANE and DR GEORGE....
-
Elmore, I wish Leonard liked me half as much as Annabelle loves you. He has nothing to do with me.
Never forget all the problems I had with Thatch! I thought he and I would never have any sort of a relationship, and I figured, okay, I adopted him for Annabelle and I can live with that. You were the one who told me to hang on, and that's now my advice for you. He's got his own baggage of what he left behind to sort through first.
-
By the way, DR Laura, I love seeing Leonard on your avatar!
-
Good morning to everyone. Hope everyone has a great weekend
Is that a current photo in your avatar? It's great!
-
It's a bad sky today for photos, so I stayed home.
Great expression!
-
I think every 1040 that's not done is on extension.
People are noticing only the smaller refunds. That their total tax in the same income is much lower for 2018 than 2017 needs too be pointed out, but it always has been lower in 2018 so far. But it's a small sample.
-
Very little work, but some towards the end.
-
Elmore, I wish Leonard liked me half as much as Annabelle loves you. He has nothing to do with me.
Oh no, I thought he loved you. Who does he favor then?
-
Leonard does look handsome.
-
Nice photos DR Chas.
-
Back from a fun lunch meeting and picking up a couple of packages. Other than that, I understand it's Friday the 12th but it may as well be the 13th as this is the day from HELL.
-
Bookless in New York
-
Although I have it on good authority that is soon to change
-
It was miserable and dreary this morning
-
At lunch time it was beautiful and sunny
-
Tonight it is overcast and drizzling
-
Jrand, can you please cut and paste your review into the hardcover version - everyone, please, if leaving a review do NOT leave it on the Kindle version - it's not linking to the hard and softcover.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I had a relatively light week. I took a Mental Health Day on Wednesday, which I needed and enjoyed. I also have been playing catch-up with many things, one of which is the accumulation of paper. I swear I don't know how it piles up so quickly! Every time I start culling I discover that there's more that's piled up than I was even aware of. Oy! Double oy! It goes slowly, but I'm chipping away at it.
-
DR Chas, I always enjoy your theatre photos. But having the orchestra in another room just doesn't sit right with me. I realize needs must, but how do you feel about it?
-
TOD:
I'll probably watch the next episode of UNFORGOTTEN on PBS. I enjoy the series and have been looking forward to the new season.
-
I've been rereading Rosamunde Pilcher's WINTER SOLSTICE. I loved it when I read it many years ago, and I've loved reading it again. I've only a few pages left and really don't want it to end.
-
Vixmom, will there be any photos of your new dress? Or did I miss them?
-
Have a good weekend, everyone.
-
Vixmom, will there be any photos of your new dress? Or did I miss them?
There was that fun line from the MTM Show.
Mary: Is that a new dress, Georgette?
Georgette: Pretty new. I bought it this afternoon.
-

vixmim, do you recall? When we saw Jose at "Lestat," do I recall right that the reason he met us at intermission where he did was because part of the orchestra was playing from another floor in the office building above the Palace Theatre?
Or was that another time with Jose?
-
I think if I linked the whole Borowitz article, it might be political because of some of the Sarah Huckabee Sanders jokes -
but Borowitz's title sounds non-political but still so funny (it could apply to what either party at times does): "Mueller Report Halted as Barr Passes Out from Sharpie Fumes."
-
And one for Mueller.
-
When did "And one for Mahler" stop being an HHW catchphrase? Did we retire it in honor of Stritch's passing or retirement or anything like that?
-
This is a version of Stritch doing "Ladies Who Lunch" I came across when Googling.

That's funny, Fred! :))
-
And now, I'm off to usher for a college production of Equivocation. I've never seen it, but I know several actors in it. I'd heard that it's good, and the actors are good, so that's all good. ;)
Be back later.
-
I'm not giving up on Leonard. I just hope in a year or so when he is grown up that he decides he loves me.
-
Jrand, can you please cut and paste your review into the hardcover version - everyone, please, if leaving a review do NOT leave it on the Kindle version - it's not linking to the hard and softcover.
Keith attempted to put the review on the book and it only accepted it on Kindle. It might be because he has a Kindle account and didn't purchase the book from Amazon.
-
Man, people come, people go, like Grand Hotel. Let's get some postin' goin' on. It's been a HELL day and we could use some levity, frankly or some frankly levity.
-
Page three? Really?
-
REALLY?
-
It really is the day from HELL.
-
You'd think it was a Friday night or something.
-
I'm listening to a lot of Phillippe Sarde film music - very soothing.
-
Posts would be even more soothing.
-
Of course I could just keep posting until I hit a rather incredible milestone, which will inch me closer to the most incredible milestone of all.
-
Well, it was a weird Friday right up until the show, then it turned out to be the best Friday show many of us could recall.
These weekend-only productions tend to suffer on Friday, and the blame shifts easily between cast/crew and audience. This was a good one, and we'll take it.
-
DR Jeanne, let there be no mistake:
I don't approve for one minute a remote orchestra, and I regret that they moved in that direction for this show rather than find a way to accommodate it in the house or backstage as they always have in the past. I truly believe many people think that going this convoluted technical route is Progress.
I've also gotten feedback from two trusted musician friends on two different nights, who, in so many words, said: It's very well balanced. You can hear everything. And there's no "presence". No dynamics. Not only no dynamics, but even if you accepted a "leveled" feed like this apparently is, you really need the volume higher on everything.
-
DR Jrand68, I did exactly what BK is suggesting re copying and pasting the review onto the hardcover page. It was not only accepted, there was no waiting period. It went through in, like, a minute.
-
Well, ChasSmith is here!
-
As is page four. Really?
-
89 more posts to a new milestone.
-
The Penultimate Milestone
-
When I achieve penultimate do I get an ultimate pen?
-
ChasSmith has hit they hay and I am about to hit a tortilla if we don't get some damn postin' goin' on.
-
Don't test me.
-
Don't push me.
-
Don't rain on my parade.
-
Don't eat my guacamole.
-
Don't spit on the sheriff.
-
Don't mess with someone who is having HELL day.
-
Eighty posts to new milestone.
-
When did "And one for Mahler" stop being an HHW catchphrase? Did we retire it in honor of Stritch's passing or retirement or anything like that?
It's always time to raise one for Mahler.
-
Don't mess with someone who is having HELL day.
That's been my attitude today.
-
I've been rereading Rosamunde Pilcher's WINTER SOLSTICE. I loved it when I read it many years ago, and I've loved reading it again. I've only a few pages left and really don't want it to end.
Would I enjoy it?
-
I ushered for the symphony tonight. Fun concert with a Spanish theme, though the music wasn't entirely Spanish in origin. There was the Carmen Suite, Bernstein's Mambo with the audience yelling out Mambo! on cue, and Bernstein's Dance Variations from Fancy Free as well as Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio espagnol and El amor brujo from Falla.
The audience had a good time. I think Fiesta fever is in the air.
-
I am attending the Sarde symphony right here in the home environment.
-
I do hope we have decent attendance at the workshop - if not, I'll end it early.
-
I would, in fact, like to kick a frozen dinner from here to eternity and hell and back.
-
It was a good antidote to the work day, which was rather overwhelming.
My work wife is still out until July. The woman who took over the writing portion of her job left today for two weeks of vacation. Meanwhile, I have one project that has been ramped up and ramped up again to the point that all of us working on it from the lower levels are spinning while the upper folks are not responding to our series of questions. Typical, right?
We'll survive and be stronger for it.
I think.
-
Since I only had a salami sandwich and an ounce of pasta for lunch, I made myself the remaining hamburger - it was good, but very filling.
-
Watching the extras on the Harold Lloyd/Kid Brother disc, and there are many.
One is a 1962 interview with Lloyd in his fabled home, Greenacres, which had a permanent ginormous Christmas tree in it made of oversized ornaments. It's rather fabulous.
There are also two shorts that are really fun.
-
Since I only had a salami sandwich and an ounce of pasta for lunch, I made myself the remaining hamburger - it was good, but very filling.
I could use a salami sandwich right now.
-
Even though it's time for bed.
-
We can move ourselves from this page before then.
-
Maybe.
-
We can push.
-
And have one for Mahler!
-
Let's move on ...
-
Five!
-
Time to retire.
-
I feel like hurling a vile epithet.
-
I feel like strangling a Swedish fish.
-
I feel like I'd like to lose forty pounds.
-
Sometimes I feel like a motherless child.
-
Where the HELL is the red red robin when you need him/her?
-
Is a robin male or female or both?
-
If one has the figure of a robin is it robinesque?
-
I feel like mashing a potato with my head.
-
Listening to Sarde with Stan Getz as soloist in this particular score - beautiful.
-
We watched a very funny episode of CORNER GAS.
-
Good evening.
-
My WIFI is acting up tonight.
-
Actually, I guess it would be more accurate to say my WIFI is acting down.
-
Well, that was a lot faster.
-
Bruce I did an archive search to read your comments on VICE. I agree with them.
-
Hi Tom. How was lunch?
-
I have an appointment to see the condo at 12:30 tomorrow.
-
We met friends for dinner at Rock Wood Fired Pizza.
-
Did TCB get his book?
-
Keith and I shared a medium pizza with mozzarella, sugared walnuts, pineapple, caramelized onions, and broccoli. It was yummy.
-
My sister postponed lunch today because her husband wasn’t feeling very well.
-
My first bite was too hot and I burned the tender spot on the roof of my mouth between my two front teeth.
-
My sister postponed lunch today because her husband wasn’t feeling very well.
Sorry.
-
One medium pizza equalled 3 slices for each of us.
-
Before dinner we each had a drink.
-
And how drunk did you get, Lady Jane?
-
TCB does not want to answer.
-
I would like to punch a cyclops in the throat.
-
Well, in fifty-eight minutes this HELL day will be done, at least that's the hope.
-
And how drunk did you get, Lady Jane?
Not at all. I had a short shot of Glenmorangie, neat.
-
Bruce I hope your tomorrow is much better than your today.
-
And now, I'm off to usher for a college production of Equivocation. I've never seen it, but I know several actors in it. I'd heard that it's good, and the actors are good, so that's all good. ;)
Be back later.
I'm back from a great show!
-
Great cast (actually, only three or four of the actors were university students, the main four were community actors), nice set, good costumes.
-
Also, there were quite a few actor friends and acquaintances in the audience, and they all enjoyed it!
-
This effen WiFi keeps kicking me out.
-
That is frustrating.
-
This effen WiFi keeps kicking me out.
That just happened to me, too! :-\
-
I just finished reading a book and am falling asleep.
-
'night
-
Anyway, after the show, Margo and I went out again.
-
We both really like to get some happy hour food at McMenamin's.
-
Hi, Jane.
-
Good night, Jane.
-
Hi, Tom
-
Hopefully, you'll be back soon!
-
Watching the extras on the Harold Lloyd/Kid Brother disc, and there are many.
One is a 1962 interview with Lloyd in his fabled home, Greenacres, which had a permanent ginormous Christmas tree in it made of oversized ornaments. It's rather fabulous.
There are also two shorts that are really fun.
It's really called Greenacres? I wonder if that's where they go the name for the TV show. ;)
-
I have an appointment to see the condo at 12:30 tomorrow.
Hope it has potential!
-
Before dinner we each had a drink.
What drink? I rarely drink, but I've had their Lava Lamps before. I like that. :D
-
They used to have them in plastic Lava Lamp shaped cups, which you got to take home, but the last time I went, they said that they no longer had the cups. :(
