Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of number one, and now it is time for you to post until the number one cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BODACIOUS!
-
vixmom - Hoping those burns heal quickly!
-
Vibes for a bigger crowd at the next Group show, and glad it went so well last night!
-
"Ask Bk question": Is the bigger issue how much money this type of show makes, or having a full house? (example: When doing a show at NYMF, filling the house is not usually about the gross, since every show loses money, it's to get buzz for the show.)
-
I read somewhere years ago that when people see empty seats, subliminally they think something weird like who are these people who didn't bother to come. It's kind of a corollary to when people pick up their belongings and walk out at intermission, often feeling the need to say something audible about why they're leaving for some reason. Strangely, it's often the freebies who were offered tickets especially to make the event look more popular than it is; and then, they openly crap of the show.
-
I can answer that. It's to make raise money for the theatre, a full (paying) house being important to that.
Of course bringing in new audiences for the theatre is a benefit, long term.
Seeing Kay Cole perform "What I did for Love" was very special. I had to go back listen/watch on YouTube to her doing it over 30 years ago. What a voice, and she is super tiny. She still has so much heart and soul. That my daughter got to sing "One" with her and the rest of the cast was simply, pretty magical.
-
Thanks! So that means papering is not a reasonable option
-
They paper like crazy in NY; they'd rather give industry folks free tickets, than sell at a deep discount. "Everybody" seems to imagine they're building word of mouth for a tour or later life of the show.
But on Broadway at least, I hear that has something to do with the "average ticket price" which has become so important in all the reporting, even the real papers. My guess: - if it's low-price, it lowers the average, it it's free, I guess it doesn't count at all???

That's wonderful. At times, I think BK is so busy dealing with people throwing conflicts, he doesn't realize himself what he makes happen adds to the arts, including the future generations!

Good morning, all.

Why is it only Wednesday?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Crap. Five hours sleep. I might try for a nap later, which sometimes succeeds, sometimes doesn't.
-
But last night's first tech/dress rehearsal was fun, if a long one. More tonight.
-
That's a fine set of pictures, BK.
-
Why is it only Wednesday?
Some of us need it to be only Wednesday. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Crap, let's try for a nap! - sounds almost like potential for a Dr. Seuss for real life.

Some of us want it to be last Saturday, any way of arranging that?

vixmom - Hoping those burns heal quickly!
Thank you, FJL
-
Jan the burn is about the size of the palm of my hand
-
Jane what did Shatner talk about?
-
Ok I must get me in the shower i have to be at my desk in 20 minutes

Wait. Isn't that wedding supposed to be about a year from now? How did this happen??? :)
Next Couple of Weeks VIBES for vixmom!
-
Good morning, all!

I slept later than intended. I had a dream that BK was recording an NYU student production of Bernstein's Candide, conducted by John Mauceri. Since I am not a fan of the maestro, I was surprised how well behaved he was in the dream. I remember two things vivdly from the dream: a huge table of Italian food for everyone and Mauceri leaving the session because he had other commitments.

I think they are open to everyone, but they used to have an annual fee that went to the papering company, not to the show. I used to use "Audience Extras" and "Play by Play" years ago. But you have no say where you sit, which some folks coming in from out of the City might really not like after all the effort getting to Manhattan.
-
DR vixmom, I wish you'd known about the glasses earlier, too! The cosy pretty much wiped out what was left of my income from the past three months. I'm getting anxious because those property taxes are due in two months and I don't know how I'll pay them. On the other hand, thanks to that income, I've paid off every debt and obligation hanging over my head since last August. I just don't want to live through all that again.
-
Annabelle's antsy to patrol. After that, I need to tidy - always a constant with three active cats - and try to break this cage down, finish filling out my senior citizens rent reduction application, and proofread two Moross scores for my copyist Scott.
-

Keith purchased the best available seats possible for William Shatner getting as close as possible for me to hear him better. We both wondered then why there was a group of empty seats a number of rows in front of us.

I would be nice if I could nap through my dentist appointment today. I get to have 2 teeth filled. At least they are next to each other.
-
Patrol went nicely. Annabelle was petted and praised by our 4th floor neighbor from Israel, and then she got to watch a sparrow and a pigeon forage for food in front of the apartment. My neighbor Alice, who was caught two years ago in Puerto Rico when Hurricane Maria ravaged it, is in very poor health. One of her caretakers showed up at the front door and terrified Annabelle, who screamed loudly, jumped onto my back, and literally climbed my back to get to my shoulder for safety. That ended our patrol.
-
Stella and Thatch peacefully slept with me most of the night. At one point I woke up, and I could see Thatch grooming Stella. All is well.
-
I hope to make an employment plea today. I could use some vibes.
-
Jane what did Shatner talk about?
Life, his thoughts on death including his reaction to thinking he was dying from prostate cancer. He told a story about living in a truck-bed camper after Star Trek ended.
-
I hope to make an employment plea today. I could use some vibes.

What a nice photo, DR JRand. What flavor are you eating?

My sister had some sugar free caramel something or other.....

three!!!

thanks DR GEORGE. It sure is big.....
-
All kinds of vibes for DR VIXMOM that she keep her sense of humor and joy ...
At one of my niece's wedding, the groom's family paid for ONLY the flowers - and of course had twice the number of guests - and when the flowers were delivered to the venue on the day of the wedding - groom's mother had NO money.....
My sister & her husband paid for the flowers....which they had figured they would have to do anyway....
-
LOL thanks DR JANE and DR ELMORE.....plain old vanilla!
My sister had some sugar free caramel something or other.....
Last week, I placed an order for raw cookie dough (made to be eaten raw!) from Edoughble (http://www.edoughble.com). I've ordered from them before, and it's all been very good! ;D
-
Jane, they even have some vegan and gluten free options (https://www.edoughble.com/collections/vegan)!

Surprising to me was when the bride's family hasn't set much money aside for the bride's wedding.

Jane, they even have some vegan and gluten free options (https://www.edoughble.com/collections/vegan)!
Thanks. I probably would prefer eggs in it, however, I have been eating too much sugar lately and need to return to a better diet.

Annabelle has not been eating for the past couple of days, so I went to Catster.com for research. One bit of advice was to warm the food up for 10 seconds to add to its aroma. It worked. She ate her salmon like starving woman.

Interesting. I wonder if I should do that for Neve. She eats, just not a lot. I always wonder if she's eating enough. I thought about heating up her food that had been in the fridge. I only put out half of large cans and save the rest in the fridge for later.

Nice picture, Jrand!
Indeed.

I went back to sleep at eight and slept until 11:45, so I think I got about six-and-a-half hours of sleep.
-
Doing work on the computer, then had a little McDonald's to tide me over until later.
-
No packages or mail to pick up, so now I'll just relax for the next four hours and then I'll get ready to be on my way to the theater.

My employment plea resulted in a good conversation, some suggestions, but no solid offer. After the phone call I sent two emails, and now I wait.

Hello, everyone.
-
I'm taking a bit of Me time, as last week was a busy week, not without anxiety or stress.
I wish I could take a few days, not just one, but stuff awaits.
-
Congrats to DR George on successfully repairing his phone!
I love being Ms Fix-it. Too bad I'm not very good at it. I do take great pleasure in fixing even the smallest thing. (Small, simple things are about all I can fix.)
-
Employment vibes to Elmore!
Hope something comes through quickly!

Have you noticed a correlation between your using Pine Sol to an increase in her breathing difficulties?

I always heated frig from the food, just enough to get the chill off. I think half a can of the large cans is plenty unless she is unusually large.

I stopped at Whole Foods Market today. I noticed that they carry the McConnell's ice cream that BK mentioned many months back. They do not carry the Daiya ice cream bars that I am so enamored with. That may be a good thing, actually.

The two fillings were a breeze and did not require a shot to numb me. While looking at the first tooth the dentist said there is a big crack in there & I need a crown. He then took a photograph to get a better look and found a crack in the other tooth. :(
-
Is anyone watching the new TALES FROM THE CITY? I love that series and am pleased there's a new season. I don't expect the magic that the original had, but I'm still happy to revisit the characters.
On Netflix streaming.

I think my filling days are over. My dentist--that is, my dentist who recently retired--preferred crowns wherever there was a lot of stress on the teeth. I see his reasoning, but crowns are a lot more expensive!
I don't know the new dentist's opinion, but it may not be much different.
At least today went easily for you, Jane.

You could sign up for a month, watch the series and anything else of interest, then cancel. I'm sure lots of people do that.

I just finished watching VICTORIAN SLUM HOUSE, a PBS reality series from 2016. I like the house series, but this was especially interesting as it covered five decades -- 1860 to 1910 -- and the significant political changes that affected residents of London's East End. I found it quite fascinating. Available for streaming on PBS Passport.

Interesting. I wish my dentist had just gone with the crowns to begin with. Now I get to pay twice. At least I don't have to deal with the physical pain twice but ouch on the pocketbook. The two fillings cost more than I expected.
Now I play the game of when I should put the crowns on.

No, and I only used it last week to clean a litter box and tray at the bottom of Stella's cage in the basement.

Joshie called out of the blue with some work for me next week, so I credit the vibes from one and all for that. It certainly was not a part of my plea today.

Courtney, a nice young lady from Little Wanderers Rescue, just arrived, took apart the cage and left with it and all the paté kitten food that Stella will not touch. It's nice to have more space in the apartment since it's space is at a premium.

Fingers crossed.

DR elmore congrats on not needing the cage anymore and finding a new home for it.
-
I'm lucky I adopted Stella, because if I hadn't, I'd be at the ACC tomorrow ar noon to adopt Stanley!

-
DR elmore congrats on not needing the cage anymore and finding a new home for it.
I figure they could use it since all the rescue groups are daily looking for fosters to take in cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies. I've considered fostering, but I think I have enough on my hands. Otherwise I'd have both Stanley and Stella here tomorrow night!
-
Yes, you are full up, not only space wise but money wise. Stanley is a cutie.
-
I met Rebecca for coffee in Fairfield (northern Cincinnati 'burb) and then we went to Miller Street Boutique, one of her favorite shops. I need some formal wear for a couple of evening events in Washington, DC, later this month and am building around a floor-length black chiffon skirt. I'd already bought a pretty silver sparkly top and today I found a nice necklace to go with that and another bright pink chiffon top that coordinates nicely with a shawl that Richard bought me years ago. I think I'm set for the evening DAR festivities.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater for a little sound check and then our show.

Joshie called out of the blue with some work for me next week, so I credit the vibes from one and all for that. It certainly was not a part of my plea today.
That's great!

Great news.

Your outfits sound lovely. I hope there will be photos.
Your DAR festivities sound exciting.

Why is it only Wednesday?
Some of us need it to be only Wednesday. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Some of us want it to be last Saturday, any way of arranging that?
Wait. Isn't that wedding supposed to be about a year from now? How did this happen??? :)
Next Couple of Weeks VIBES for vixmom!
I have been asking myself this question since Monday
-
The day will be wonderful :)
-
Tonight after work I went to the mall and bought the kids engraved toasting flutes and engraved knife set for the cake
-
So that's done
-
I went to the store and took pictures of the choices and texted them to the Vixter
-
They chose the ones they wanted and I had them made up
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work.
Be back later.
-
While I was waiting for them to be engraved I wandered around the mall
-
There was this booth that was making framed pictures from your phone pictures
-
While I was choosing another woman stopped by and said she wound wait until the young man was done with me but I told her to go ahead because she already knew what pictures she wanted
-
She gave me a code for 30% off my whole order
-
I ended up paying $38 for 5 8x8 framed pictures
-
Which were ready within 10 minutes of being ordered
-
Then I went back to the other store and picked up the engraved items
-
I took pictures of everything and texted them to the Vixter who was overjoyed
-
You know what I like about this century?

Instant gratification

Break a leg vibes for BK and co
-
Work and $$$ vibes for dear Elmore
-
Watching Under the Volcano and not drinking through it, which is kind of hard. The story takes place over the course of one day. If one tried to keep up with the volume Albert Finney drinks in this movie, even over two or four days, one would be seriously pickled.
-
But that sort of is the theme here: drinking one's self to death.
-
Cheery.
-
I've started getting ready for the trip. I packed a few books and a cookbook. I'm trying to think of cooking stuff I have to take, like olive oil and salt, cinnamon, tomatillos from the garden, a couple of good knives.
-
I figure we'll get fresh peaches in the Hill Country. I can make a galette or a shortcake with them. Or cook them with a pork loin.
-
You know what I like about this century?
Yup, it is really great at times.

I understand that cats are basically more attached to places than they are to people.
-
Hopefully, he is getting better.

Wow, that was a surprise! KIRO-TV in Seattle just aired a commercial for Albert Lee Appliances celebrating Seattle Gay Pride!

Really?? I've been fast-forwarding through the commercials. I'll pay attention now.
-
Why is that a surprise? It should be normal!
-
BK is late again.
-

I don't care how "normal" it should be...I'll stop fast-forwarding through commercials when you pry my remote from my cold, dead hands!!
;D
-
Will those cold dead hands have a fresh manicure in hot pink?

Will those cold dead hands have a fresh manicure in hot pink?
Maybe. ;)
-
I think baby pink would suit you better. Or maybe peach.
-
Why is that a surprise? It should be normal!
KIRO-TV is a church-owned station that has always been conservative to the extreme. They have often chosen not to air episodes of CBS programs that they considered offensive or controversial.

It is right after the Billy Porter segment.

I've just gotten to his segment.
-
I can’t stay awake for notes. I’ll read them in the morning.
-
Good night, jan.
-
Good night, George.
-
I hate people that don't allow you to decide whether or not to watch something just because they don't like it.
-
And now I will get off my soapbox and go to bed. cuddles to you and Neve.
-
Thanks and good night, jan, and Neve thanks you, too!
-
Good night, Tom.

I saw it! It was simple but really nice.

I think I need to go to bed soon.
-
It's late.
-
...and getting later.
-
I need to make up a little time at work.
-
I need to get to work earlier than usual, but first, let's turn the page...
-
8!!
-
And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Finally back from a splendid second show (in many ways even better than the first show, although for a couple of the less seasoned performers they got in their head about their songs so we had some lyric flubs we didn't have on night one, but they covered them just fine and the audience reaction was absolutely fantastic. And I had much more fun tonight - very loose and off the paper several times. More in the notes.
-
Great to hear it went so well, BK!

Instant gratification
There's a quote "Instant gratification takes too long."
I know Carrie Fisher said it, but was quoting someone else, IIRC.
