Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Rip and RIP, and now it is time for you to post until the ripped cows come home.

Tom, I'm not watching any TV.  Donald Glover used to be on the TV show, Community, which also starred Chevy Chase and Joel McHale, who used to be on Seattle's Almost Live (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0149413/reference), which is also where Bill Nye the Science Guy got his start.

Post by: George on July 10, 2019, 12:22:40 AM
Donald Glover also played Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3778644/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_6), which I still haven't seen, yet. ::)

I know ALMOST LIVE.  I know nothing about STAR WARS.

I know ALMOST LIVE.  I know nothing about STAR WARS.

Donald Glover also performs as a singer (in a group?) as Childish Gambino.  You might not like the musical style, but he's pretty good.

I had a guy from City Light pounding on my door today to give me a 7-day extension notice before they shut off my electricity.
Title: Re: RIP RIP
Post by: TCB on July 10, 2019, 12:45:56 AM
First time I have ever had that happen; and it wasn’t even for my electric bill.
Title: Re: RIP RIP

The previous owner of my condo still hasn’t paid off his final bill that he was supposed to have paid off in May.
Title: Re: RIP RIP

And I still can’t do anything about it, because the utility company won’t even put the bill into my name until the old owner pays off his bill.

Annabelle is definitely congested.  This is old news, but what continues to frustrate the hell out of me is what's causing it.  They tell me it's herpes, they tell me it's dental, they tell me it's polyps, they tell me it's an immune issue, they recommend Lysine which I add to their food daily, and the only thing that seems to clear it up temporarily is a flush of her sinuses and Azithromycin, which I cannot afford once a month.

I wish to God He'd either send me some steady work - not 3 months on, three-six months off - or just kill me.  That damned property will never sell, God knows where the fat hell I'm getting next month's property taxes, and I wish to hell that the people who dangle jobs at me like a carrot on a stick would either deliver or get out of my life.

Our family night was fun.....had about 10 folks in to watch us.

Our former Judy who is married to our tech director who also plays Bert, has been hanging around for a couple of days.  She prides herself on being a person "who can really get an audience laughing" but in reality her laugh is SO LOUD and forced that it usually just makes people STOP laughing....

Only 11 more days.....9 of them actually spent WITH them....and it will be over.

I was sent the Program and read the new Director's notes.....cast members and crew are mentioned with a comment from the Director....except for three of use who are grouped together in the final paragraph....with an "also in the show" notation.....

Dr Keenan gave me a prescription for an intense nose spray that is not in my HMO's "approved" drugs, so we had to get their approval, which arrived on Saturday.   My copay on the prescription is $278.00!  I feel like that poor man who died from diabetes because of the cost of insulin.  I don't think I'll be getting it.

Every 90 days I pay $100 for a medication.  I am in the process of ordering it from Canada Direct at a much lower price.  It isn't the same brand name but is better than your regular generic.

This says not just actors, but many areas of entertainment https://actorsfund.org/am-i-eligible-help

Yes, they do. And this is outrageous.

When I moved from CA to my apartment in Illinois, I was shocked at my first electric bill. I called the electric company to ask if this was really the cost here, since I was new. They checked and said that amount was from the previous tenant’s use, took my move-in date, adjusted it on the spot, and sent a corrected bill.

On one phone call.

So how in the HELL can they say this is your problem? In addition to a local station, does the town have a 3-1-1 or other citizens help number?

Okay, here’s my new rant.

When did it become “mandatory” when taking a picture at the Broadway show you’re attending, to hold up your damned PROGRAM (or Playbill, as everyone calls them now, even when they aren’t actually a Playbill publication), obscuring half or more of what you COULD be showing us? Like, oh, you know, the damned theater or something else we wouldn’t normally see? I have to bite my tongue because I’ve come so close to offending good friends who, like sheep, do this every time now, that it scares me a little. Why, Lord? Why?

My question for ASK BK DAY:

Wes Stern, Joel Kimmel (no relation), Sal Viscuso, lots of others, my friend Alan Abelew - who actually went to a commercial call that had in its description "a Bruce Kimmel type" - that was from one of my little hiatus periods where I wasn't doing commercials.

I've been listening and proofing the Adriana audiobook - really enjoying it and she does very well with the dialogue sections.  I think it's probably impossible to be completely satisfied with every character when it's one person, and had I been in the same city I would probably have asked for a few adjustments, but so much of this is so good and she's also funny, which is helpful.  But the first two chapters had quite a few errors - words missing mostly or changed a few times, so I've been keeping a list as I go - the worst of it was chapter two and I suspect it won't ever be that bad again - about then things in that chapter - chapters three and four have two for the former and four for the latter, so that's not bad at all.  So far, I've only made on pronunciation note and one interpretation note - everything else is stuff that was misread.

During the course of proofing this audiobook and following along with the galley - I have found at least four really annoying style things, a word missing - it's just amazing that four proofers do an incredible job, and that includes me, and still you can never catch everything.

I did finish the movie. I think Shall We Dance? is sheer musical theater perfection. I'm trying to think of moments that equal it. Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man is one. A Weekend in the Country is another.

"YMCA" from "Can't Stop the Music". looks like more and more crazy fun as we see more of what the 21st century has been bringing us.  :)

Sometimes, costume design in a musical film is knowing what not to wear as much as what to wear.

Look at these credits for that movie.  (Michael is surely more knowledgeable about all things Allan Carr, of course.)

People like to point to "Taxi Driver" to show how seamy (or unseemly!) the Broadway area was before Disney cleaned it up.  But this is late 1970s  or so during the work day, and may be a bit cleaner than it was in real life, but still pretty accurate.

(or is some of that L.A. sliced in?  not sure.)

I'd forgotten June Havoc and Tammy Grimes were in that movie.

Forgot the chopsticks vs. fork bit in The King and I. It's interesting to me. The Thai people I know don't use chopsticks. I wonder if they stopped after the king.

LOL.  When we eat at Thai restaurants we use chopsticks even though we have been told it isn't traditional.

I did once, years ago, but not again.
