Well, you've read the notes, the notes were locked, and now it is time for you to post until the locked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DESIDERATUM!
-
Jan is in Utah.
-
What does authoring a movie mean?
-
It's so much fun hearing (reading) about how The Creature Isn't Nice is coming together!
-
Time for bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
I fell asleep.
-
INSURANCE VIBES FOR DR TCB!
-
I have had simialar on line problems when placing orders that required a call to complete the order correctly.
-
No Hal! But if everyone accepts the part offered, we have a cast.
I won't be around much today - doing a rehearsal schedule and will be dealing with the fallout from all of the people who were NOT cast, it won't be pretty.....I am not looking forward to it.
-
So I may not be around much tonight.
-
DR Jrand may your day go better than expected. I didn't realize ther might be fallout from those who were not cast. Is this typical or only that you expect as much from tthis particular group?
-
Good morning, all.
-

It has been, hasn’t it?
-
I shall have to ponder the topic of the day. I know some John Waters films will be on my list.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning.

Asha has staked her claim on the dining room. Leonard sits in the doorway and looks at her. Rex wanders around like a very old man.
-
The heatwave is broken, and I slept quite badly. I had lots of strange dreams, but I only remember one in which I was back in Ohio and the community theatre I founded in 1978 was doing a production of Man of La Mancha. The lead was a high school friend who died about two years ago. At one point I was hanging out in the Middletown Mall and ran into Mildred Rogers, a wonderful lady I worked with 45 years ago. She was in her mid-sixties when I worked with her, and I've always wondered whatever became of her.
-
I spent much of the night listening to the rain and wrestling for bed space with three cats.
-
I am spending the day here. I have no money and still no word on that potential job. I'm also wondering why my colleague on How to Succeed . . . is dragging his feet about submitting the final invoice. As far as I know, the work is finished.
-

Aww.

Asha has staked her claim on the dining room. Leonard sits in the doorway and looks at her. Rex wanders around like a very old man.
Is the fighting over? It sounds like Leonard wants to be friends.
-
Patrol went well. We neither met nor saw any neighbors but Annabelle watched the passers-by on 82nd Street.
-
I have a bed to make and a lot of tidying. I've got two empty boxes for today's book pull, and the cats have had much fun playing in them.
-
Stella should be the name for the next big hurricane' she leaves nothing but destruction in her path.
-
Well I should be at wirk but instead i am dealing with a flooded basement
-
Filled up and emptied the 14 gallon wet dry vac twice
-
Well back to the dungeon
-
Well I should be at wirk but instead i am dealing with a flooded basement
So sorry, DR vixmom!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Well I should be at wirk but instead i am dealing with a flooded basement
Oy, not again! Sorry to hear it!
-
Well back to the dungeon
That is wnat I called our 1st basement. Fortunately that one did not flood.
-
DR Vixmom I am sorry you have such a mess to deal with.
-
No Hal! But if everyone accepts the part offered, we have a cast.

Yikes. Is that a common occurrence there?
I'm sure people (individuals) everywhere are often disappointed in not being cast in something. But I've never been aware of this becoming a Big Thing with multiple people. Sounds like you have a mob to deal with. :)
-
Well, I need to run a couple of errands, then be working on PIPPIN the rest of the day. And most of the day tomorrow. And so on and so forth until I've played their two closing shows this weekend.
-
Enjoy our one COOL day here in the Northeast, everyone. (I wish said enjoyment could apply more to vixmom!)

TOD:
Repo Man
Harold and Maude
Heathers
This is Spinal Tap
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
The Big Lebowski
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar
I had to Google "Cult films" to get a list of what's considered a cult film. Some of the titles I don't particularly agree with. I wouldn't consider "Teen Wolf" a cult film, but I do love that movie.
-
I almost listed "Weird Science", but then realized I was confusing it with "Real Genius", which I really liked. I never saw "Weird Science" and "Real Genius" wasn't on the cult film list unfortunately.
-
TOD:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Pink Flamingos
The Wicker Man
The King of Hearts
The Queen of Outer Space
Plan Nine from Outer Space
The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Schlock
The Night of the Living Dead
The First Nudie Musical
In the summer of 1979 or 1980, there was a wonderful Cult Movie Festival at the Beacon Theatre. I saw so many.
-
I also had to search cult films. Since it was in the wee hours of the morning mine was a quick search which resulted in a small number of films.
HAROLD & MAUDE was the only one on the list I would include on mine, not that I have seen it in years.
-
DR JRand68, who did you settle on to play Hal?
-
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is listed as a cult film, really? OK, I will put it at the top of my list.
-
TOD 1
Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
Female Trouble
Clerks
Surf Nazis Must Die
Freaks
Evil Dead 2

I’m enjoying today’s topic. It’s bringing back fun memories. Amy, I love most of your list.
-
I’ve been reading a wonderful British children’s book from yesteryear called The Marvelous Land of Snergs. In it, our author uses the delicious word disquisition. What a great and playful word for a children’s book.
-
I'm up, I'm up - got up at nine-thirty and back on the phone with AT&T and PayPal, since the cancelled payment somehow went through - so now we had to open a claim and it's another ten days. I asked AT&T, they didn't know why it went through and they haven't received it yet, so when they do they'll cancel again and return the money but knowing how these things work, it will be the full ten days before I see this money.

Vibes for DR Vixmom and her flooded basement.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad to hear the heat wave has broken. I do recall those hot, muggy days.
-
Vibes for Vixmom.
I had flooding problems in Alexandria. The previous owners installed a sump pump, which took care of some of it. I then made some other modifications and that made a big difference. Not fun to clean up. Not fun at all.
-
Good afternoon!
-
Sorry about your basement, DR vixmom!
-
It's only 74 degrees in Alexandria, VA. Tomorrow's high is 84. Back to the nineties on Sunday.

Yes, it sounds that way.
I had a situation once in the corporate world where a young woman who'd interviewed for a job in my group called me and asked why she wasn't hired. She said she was well-qualified and was rather demanding about it. My first thought was how this would have gone down with the other managers. Not well! I explained truthfully that we had three people, all of whom were well-qualified, but could only choose one. She seemed to accept that. As I hung up I was VERY glad we hadn't chosen her.
Had she called me to verify that we'd filled the position and then asked if she wasn't qualified in some way, it would have come across differently. But that wasn't her personality. I knew I'd never hire her.

I'd love to read it. Maybe I'll have to try the Kindle edition. The others are outrageously priced.

I loved KING OF HEARTS. I didn't realize it had a cult following. I'm surprised Netflix has it. It's now in my queue.
-
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is listed as a cult film, really? OK, I will put it at the top of my list.
A surprise to me, too. I was thinking recently that I should watch it again.
-
Looking forward to the new CREATURE. I didn't realize there were any copies out there at all.

TTFN.

Back from lunch at Corky's - which was excellent, and shall now go pick up a package. I have the final version of The Creature and am uploading to Dropbox, which will take hours (which is fascinating to me as it takes seven minutes to upload to my desktop.
-
To compile my favorites I’d start off with several good titles, then I’d have to steal a little bit from everybody else’s list.
Not that that’s a bad thing. But damn, I do love cult films.
-
Anyway, I’m officially burnt out on the keyboard work for today.
So guess what? I think I will switch things around and watch (ahem) NAKED SPACE this very evening.
-
DR JRand68, I've begun watching Send Me No Flowers. Who plays your part in the film? I must say I detest Frank deVol's score: mickey mousey, cartoony, cutesie-poo drivel.

I go hot and cold on Frank DeVol. I love his Christmas album, dislike some of this TV themes like "Family Affair."
-
I took a short nap. I still have one last bit on this article to finish tonight.
-
I'm finishing The Prisoner of Zenda first. There's one bit in here that makes no sense at all, as if edited into the film in the wrong place. But so what. It's silly, swashbuckling fun.
-
It's rather hard to believe that several of cult film favorites -- Female Trouble, Hedwig and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls -- are all available from the Criterion Collection.
-
Well the day started with 3 hours of flood cleanup and ended up at the dentist...do I know how to party or what?
-
Vixdad announce he had to work this weekend
-
I have tons that needs to be done around here so I could definitely use that time to do it
-
Or I could buy a matinee ticket for Roadshow on Saturday

And one for King Kong on Sunday

We all know the responsible choice

Rumor has it that BKs close and personal friend Steve Somebody is doing the talkback Saturday after the matinee

So Sublime Saturday

-
At 1 pm he asked if I wasn't going to go for my lunch hour
-
I said no I would work through to make up time, he seemed surprised and told me it was not necessary , but I told him I wanted to

Listening to music. Oh, and the AT&T payment just credited back to PayPal - absolutely nutty.

Well, it's time for me to leave work, so I shall.
Be back later.
-
I have finished article 2 and sent it off. Whew.
-
Tonight's soundtrack help included Romantic Comedy and Bank Shot.
-
As I was saying.....
DR ELMORE - my part in the play was played by Mr Paul Lynde in the movie.....I made him kind of a combination of Lynde and Mr. Haney from GREEN ACRES - which worked until the last performance.
-
And I think we have found HAL.....a former high school swimmer, football player, and wrestler is coming in to read for the part on Thursday night.
He will miss the first five rehearsals, BUT if he can talk - he has the part.
Read thru tomorrow night.
-
Surprisingly ALL of the folks who were dinged....well the ones I was worried about - instead replied and asked if they could do any kind of production work on the show - costumes, backstage, etc....
That is a credit to either their restraint or MY good nature. Of course what they say behind my back could be completely different...
-
Dry basement vibes for DR VIXMOM.
Continued $$$ vibes for DR ELMORE.

Finished with my viewing.

Earlier, I'd gone out to the garage and found a file with Creature materials, so I have that now - also found the cassette of our second preview screening with the temp track - but it's missing the entire second half and is running slow. But I think I'll put a clip on the DVD as an extra, just so everyone can hear the laughs this got in the first five minutes.
What's funny is that as it goes along you can hear us losing the audience - it's plain as day. Part of that is because for the second screening I put some extra stuff in, none of which worked, but mostly there were no sfx at all and that really deadened everything and the temp track was sparse. But that opening five minutes, you'd have thought we were gonna be a big hit. I believe what Marshall has done to help is pretty great and it moves much faster now. I wish the Creature's song was on there, because I know that brought down the house.
But the news is we're not locked yet because the DVD, which I'd had great difficulty finding in the garage, and from which we pulled Dirty Harry and a few other shots, looked weird to me and that's because it was some cheeseball knock-off DVD - tonight I found the real one and looked at it and it's much better. The knockoff one has a stretched image, horrible color, and however they made that transfer was completely inept and probably just copied horribly from the other DVD. So, I'm bringing the good DVD to Marshall in the morning and we may end up using more shots from it, as the clarity is just so much better than the 3/4" quality. He's clever about how he does it, so it's not terribly jarring, and shots or scenes can only be used where the re-cut is exactly the same as my original, which is the case on several scenes - almost the entire planet scene is exactly the same until the very end, and I think the final ten minutes of the film is exactly the same, and I'm hoping the Creature's song is, too.
