Well, you've read the notes, the notes stretched and had a goal, and now it is time for you to post until the stretched cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SHIVAREE!
-
First post after BK.

5:14 in the am

So glad it's Saturday and I can sleep in

So glad it's Saturday and I can sleep in
Really??
-
::)
Oh. :-\
-
Good morning, all!
-
Another night of strange dreams. I remember none of them now.
-
My brother Randy called last night and we talked for about an hour. No property news, but there seems to be the start of some construction activity in the area, so we'll see.
-
None of my cats are bothered by thunder, fireworks, etc. Randy's German shepherd Maddie, who died about five years ago, was terrified by loud noises, and Randy and Jo had set up a bed with lots of blankets and sorta soundproofing in one of the closets for her to hide.
-
Last night I watched half of Carry On Cleo, which is really a hoot: utterly ridiculous, historically inaccurate, and bawdy, getting a few kicks in at Shakespeare and the Liz Taylor epic. Kenneth Williams is complete camp as Julius Caesar, yelling after an assassination attempt "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!" Joan Sims, whom I loved as Madge in Judi Dench's series As Time Passes By, is her usual Carry On harridan as Caesar's wife Calpurnia. My close personal friend Jim Dale is so young and skinny as a British slave/
This one's as good as their Hammer horror parody Carry On Screaming.

Miss Annabelle is impatient about this morning's patrol!
-
Annabelle had a wonderful time on patrol. The elevator is now her favorite place to lounge.
-
I just heard that Jeffrey Epstein has killed himself. It's possible that the unsealing of evidence was the catalyst, but I also woud not be surprised to learn he was murdered by some of his former sex trafficking chums.
-
I hope to have a quiet weekend doing as little as possible. It's time to make the bed.
-
Well, that was a nice nap. ::) I fell asleep on my bed with the lights and my TV on (the sound was off, though), and just as I woke up and was about to turn off the TV, there was a breaking news report that Accused sex trafficker and wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein found dead by suicide in Manhattan jail (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/jeffrey-epstein-found-dead-nyc-jail-n1041081).
:o
-
Good morning, Larry.
-
Well, I'm going to go back to bed, hopefully to sleep a few more hours. Around noon, my family is getting together for our family dinner.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.

TOD:
I don’t see enough new works, but I kinda like some of Tracy Letts’s plays.
-
The news on Epstein is not surprising. If anything, it’s too bland. The cockeyed moral seems to be: Commit all the crimes you want, the more heinous the better. When the fun part ends, there’s an easy way out.
-
I want to listen to the new audio, BK, but I have 10+ hours of Robert Moses bio to listen to first.
-
Off to face the day.
-
JohnG- And yet if it weren't for the MeToo movement, no one would have focused on how lenient the deal the prosecutors had originally made with him. There are some who likely thought they were scot-free, but the MeToo movement caused scrutiny. Charlie Rose is an example of this.
-
BK- Isn't "shivaree" what they gave Curly and Laurey after they got married. I forget whether it was before or after Curly shot Jud daid in cold blood (that's a spoiler for the current Broadway Oklahoma revival. :) )
-
Good morning, all.
-
It’s a Saturday, and a refreshing one at that. We had the most beautiful day and evening yesterday, weather-wise, and the night was perfect for sleeping with no AC or even a fan running in the house. This morning almost has that first day of fall feeling, the temperature will top out at 77 or 78 today, and tonight will be another perfect one. Then it warms back up a little, which is fine, but there’s nothing like having a break from the heat and humidity.
-
My brother Randy called last night and we talked for about an hour. No property news, but there seems to be the start of some construction activity in the area, so we'll see.
Good. Any kind of activity in the area has to be a positive thing.

Fingers crossed.
-
Bruce I am sorry I could respond to your question last night. Basically I could have said ditto to George's response.
As much as I am interested in hearing the voice of the audio version, I have never listened to more than a few minutes of an audio book.
-
Would love to sample it. I was being polite and letting others go first :) since a different code had to be generated for each person (if I understood that right).
-
Good morning!
-
Windows Update......2 hours and 22 minutes.....so I made some chicken salad.....
-

I agree.
-
Today is the DAY that my sister and I go to see the latest Tarentino epic.....in about five hours.
-
TOD:
Lucas Hnath
Tracy Letts
Maybe I shall think of some more.....later.
-
I think DR ELMORE is right......somebody got to Epstein.....the usual suspects - who leave a trail of dead folks in their wake....are my choice for "getting it done".....
-
ChasSmith - do it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.
-
Mr. Epstein had been taken OFF suicide watch - how convenient. I'm not sure he would have actually ratted anyone out, more likely he would have pled the fifth or lied. But too many wealthy, well-known and well-connected folks had too much to lose for this thing to have been what it appears to be.
-
I wonder what has happened with Epstein's accomplice/confidant/procurer or whatever you want to call Ghislane Maxwell.
-
An interesting opinion piece on how what happened with Epstein is unfathomable given the standard operating practices of the the Bureau of Prisons.

Hello, everyone.
-
Taking a break. I have a lot to do today. I'd like the apartment to be clean prior to next week's surgery and the laundry done. I'll be laid up for a bit, but don't know how long. Today's laundry is now done.
-
I just heard that Jeffrey Epstein has killed himself. It's possible that the unsealing of evidence was the catalyst, but I also woud not be surprised to learn he was murdered by some of his former sex trafficking chums.
That was exactly my first impression, too.
-
I hope to have a quiet weekend doing as little as possible.
That sounds LOVELY!! Vibes it works out that way.
-

What an unpleasant story to wake up to!

FJL, have you seen the production? Does it work for you?

That's what it's like here today, though I wouldn't call it fall-like yet.

Yes, I think you're right.

Vibes for Larry's property to sell!
-
Back to the cleaning.
TTFN.
-
Back from a light breakfast and another visit to Amoeba to kill time. I got a few more cheap CDs. One that I got the other day, a two-CD set for four bucks, is the treasure so far - a Russian composer named Fikret Amirov - fantastic, exotic stuff, very Arabian Nights-esque. A ballet, a symphony for strings, and a great tone poem.

Oh, and 116%!

BK -- just tried and got: Sorry, we can't process your request right now. Please try again later or contact Customer Care.
I'll try again later. Won't have time to listen to the whole book, but I look forward to hearing a sampling of her narration and of course the characters.
-
Oh, and 116%!
This is a push business. A push push push business. Push and drive! A push push push business. It's push push push, all the way, all the time! It's push push push, all the way, all the time, right on down the line!

Just a data point.

You can get up to five articles a month on the Washington Post. Only paper I subscribe to.

Just trying to book my tickets to Greece for October. Got a good rate.

DR JohnG, thanks for messaging it!

Thatch, Stella, and I finished watching Carry On Cleo. I then turned onto a PBS station, which seems to run nothing but fund raisers on weekends, and watched a bit of a Carole King concert. She sang "Tapestry," which I haven't heard in years, and I found myself in tears.

DR TCB your room looks great. The couch looks good. Is this the one that is not the way you want it to be?

That would be it, but I love it now the way it is.
-
Good, so you have dropped your efforts to change it? Do they owe you money for the difference?
I do believe it was a good error that they made.
-
Wow, I just looked outside and discovered it is raining.

Nice room DR TCB!!!

I have returned from the Movies - in which I was the ONLY PATRON at the 5 p.m. showing of ONCE UPON A TIME...IN HOLLYWOOD.
I liked it.....with most of the reservations that MR BK spoke about after he saw it.....but since I am a long time fan of both Mr. Pitt and Mr. DiCaprio.....I don't have a lot of complaints about them.
A movie about movies always has a place in my heart.....and when one of Rick Dalton's Italian movies co-starred Miss Carroll Baker....well....add another half star to my review.....
-
The soundtrack is divoon.
I guess my only big complaint - besides you can't rewrite history when it's writ - is that Sharon Tate was much more beautiful than the actress who played her - although she is certainly NOT lovely.
But to see Sharon Tate in FULL ON BIG HEAD CLOSE UP during her death scene in Valley of the Dolls was to see beauty personified.....
-
I have never been the only person in a movie theater, but then I have never gone to a movie by myself ;)
-
Craig returned from a movie outing by himself when we lived in Ashland & was not happy with the one other person in the theater with him. The guy sat in the empty seat next to Craig. :o and creepy.
-
Yes, Craig got up and moved-lol
-
The guy fortunately did not follow him.
-
It is still pouring rain. I guess we won't be going for a walk.
-
My brother Randy called last night and we talked for about an hour. No property news, but there seems to be the start of some construction activity in the area, so we'll see.
Fingers crossed.

Saturday evening greetings! I’ve commuted the past 4 days to Sharonville (northern Cincinnati ‘burb) for Stampaway USA 2019 - 3 days of classes and one day of shopping today. It was fun, inspiring, slightly expensive, and exhausting. Coming right on the heels of my Michigan trip, I haven’t been home much in August.
-
DR TCB, your living room looks very comfortable.

Lovely home, TCB. I hope you are happy with your new condo.

There is a strange, or new to us, ship on the river making unusal maneuvers. Keith found info looking at it with our telescope.
It is a dredge ship and part of the US Corps engineers.
-
Now to watch THE BOYS.
-
Now to watch THE BOYS.
We watched the 3 first episodes last night
-
Back from a fun night out.
-
First, it was the start of Restaurant Weeks, and one of the Brazilian steakhouses was on the list. So we had meat, meat and more meat as well as the salad bar and dessert.
-
Then it was a few hours of dancing thankfully away from the heat. It's still 88 degrees out there, much lower than 105 degrees, but it's hot. And Jan, if you tune in tonight, we did bachata, rumba, cha-cha, waltz, tango, foxtrot, merengue, two-step, the Boot Scootin' Boogie and the twist.
-
Now, it's time to relax with Step Lively, a Jule Styne musical version of Room Service with Frank Sinatra.
-
John, we have to figure out a way for you to teach me those dances especially boot-scootin' boogie!
-
Let's all go over to TCB's and sit on his couch like so much fish.
-
Finished with my viewing, such as it was - it basically consisted of snoozing.
-
TCB, your living room looks charming, but would it fit all of us?
-
Five!
-
Ann Jeffreys has launched into a fun song. But I have to get to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
TCB, your living room looks charming, but would it fit all of us?
We can make us fit! ;)
-
Now to watch THE BOYS.
We watched the 3 first episodes last night
I guess you liked it. We have only watched the 1st 2 episodes. Tomorrow we will watch the 3rd.

It sounds like a great idea.

Page five? Really?

Gratuitous Post #127!

Well, this is an interesting article...‘Heads must roll’: Outrage at how high-security jail could let Jeffrey Epstein die (https://nypost.com/2019/08/10/heads-must-roll-outrage-at-how-high-security-jail-could-let-jeffrey-epstein-die/amp/).
-
TCB, your living room looks charming, but would it fit all of us?
Oh, hell, we would make us fit. There is always the kitchen and dining room. Not to mention three bedrooms, but only one bed.
-
Good evening / Good morning.
-
Thank you for the nice comments on my living room. I really like it.
-
I just got home from Bobby’s house in Tacoma. It is a long lonely drive home in the dark and the rain.
-
Hi, Tom.

I got my car back from the repair shop yesterday. They washed it and possibly even waxed it for me. It looks fantastic.

I got home tonight, and parked in my covered parking spot. As I am getting the scooter out of the trunk, I hear this U Haul truck driving by me, and then suddenly, there is a great big crash!
-
The U Haul driver backed the truck into the car parked two spots away from me!

Why?? My condo complex doesn't have any rules against that.
-
So, had he backed into my car, he would have wiped out the front of my car and possibly it would have pushed the car into me.

In fact, the rule actually says no exceptions. However, since there is no handicap sidewalk access anywhere near my parking spot or my unit; I think they didn’t want to hassle with the ADA.
