Well, you've read the notes, the notes wished everyone a Happy Jew Year, and now it is time for you to post until the Jewish cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COALESCE!
-
First post after BK.
-
George, did you know that Second Story Repertory is currently doing ASSASSINS?
No! Up for a road trip? ;)
I will have to think about that. It only runs thru October 20.
-
Good night, George.

~~~Some Excellent Vibes and Xylophones That Everything Will Work As It Should for BK!!~~~
A question for BK: I know you won't say what the actual title of the musical is yet, but is it [Title of Movie]: the Musical, or does it have a different title than the movie?
-
And on that note (D-flat), I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
It’s already almost 11 am here. And I’m just stirring. Guess I needed that sleep.
-
Why I oughta...
-
Good morning, all!
-
I went back to bed and set the alarm for 7:30, slept a bit. Last night wasn't a bad night of sleep, thank God.
-
I am home today since Joshie and I are caught up. I need to do laundry once the litter is cleaned.
-
Thatch has discovered the joy of brushing. As soon as I produce "the brush," he goes to pieces, rolls around like Hedy Lamarr in Ecstasy, and becomes a full-fledged hedonist. stretchiong and luxuriating in the strokes. Now, whenever I sit on the bed or lie down to watch a bit of TV, he jumps up beside me and makes obvious hints that he needs "the brush."
-
Good morning
-
I have no news
-
Have a wonderful day all
-
Chas I hope your cold is gone or at least on it’s way out
-
The laundry is in the washers, and the humidity is terrible. Temperatures are supposedly going into the 90s today. I'm covered in sweat.
-
Good morning, all.
Chas I hope your cold is gone or at least on it’s way out
On its way out, for sure. I don't have a lot of strength yet, but definitely feeling better.
We're getting up to 83 degrees today, then a 30-degree drop into the low 50s tomorrow. I almost needed to turn the AC on for better sleeping last night, but I didn't want cold air blowing on me. This is insane.
-
It is predicted we will reach 91 degrees again today....but then we get cooler as the week goes on.
-
FOB Working vibes for MR BK.
-
Ah DR ELMORE - Precious used to love the brush as well. I had purchased one of those little baby brushes with the soft bristles....
I only did it twice a month....but she thought it was very special. Even two years later, I still miss her.....but Birdy Barnum fulfills the need for another little heartbeat around the house for now.
-
Good morning!
-
In the 90's here today too.
-
Page 2!
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I have 3 days ahead with no calendar commitments and lots to keep me busy at home.
-
Happy 5780!
-
The laundry is finished and I can relax.
I'm up, I'm up - maybe six-and-a-half hours of sleep.
Already had one telephonic conversation and am awaiting another.
We are on the train heading back to Manchester after an incredible day. And the sun was shining all day making the cold temps tolerable.
-
Thanks Jrand George. It was nice not having to wear my raincoat today. I won't be so lucky tomorrow.
-
Sleep well tonight DR elmore.
-
We got about 2 hours of sleep last night. For some reason we were both restless. I think we will crash early tonight but first I need to iron my blouse for tomorrow.
-
While we never found the grave site of my great grandparents we had fun searching for them and met some nice people that shared some of my family history with me. While lunching at the restaurant and pub my great grandfather and his half brother owned I just possibly met a half cousin. Once home Keith will see if he can connect us.
-
At the restaurant they had a book on Croft, the town we were in, that mentioned my family numerous times 😊
-
After lunch we went looking for the old homestead. There was a house that might possibly have been it. I approached intending to knock on the door when the owner walked out. He was very helpful and, alas, told us the home was torn down to build a new development. He pointed out where the entrance was and where the home had been.
-
He also mentioned the little building that had once been the schoolhouse where my grandmother and her 7 siblings went to school.
Walking over to see the entrance that was once the family farm, where my grandfather bred horses, we stopped to take photos of the school house.
To our surprise there was an engraving on the clock tower naming the members of the schoolboard when the school was built. Named were my great grandfather and half great uncle.
-
My 3rd cousin Jane, and her husband Rick were wonderful hosts. After our tour they had us over to their cottage for dinner. Jane baked a new recipe called Impossible pie. You mix the crust, custard filling, & coconut in a bowl, mix, put it into a pan and bake. It then separated the the layers with the crust on the bottom & toasted coconut on the top. It really worked though it tasted more like bread pudding which Jane doesn't care for. The rest of us found it enjoyable and it was a very interesting dish ;D
-
The Hairy Fig is the title of my next novel.
;D
-
I hope I have wound down enough to sleep. Tomorrow we are going to see my mother's first cousin. I will find out if she knew the family home was gone. We will show her our photos. It has been 23 years since I have seen her.
-
Bruce if the page count is low tonight you can't blame me ;)
-
Happy 5780!
😊
Put The Blame On Jane
Didn't Rita Hayworth sing that?
My question for ASK BK DAY:
I read about your experience seeing Attack of the 50 Foot Woman in the liner notes of the Ronald Stein CD - I was interested to read that you saw it at an real indoor theatre - it seemed more like drive-in material to me.
What did you think of the movie?
-
DR JANE visiting more relatives who never write or call....
The one time that I went to London, my sister wanted to look through some old cemeteries just to look at the really old dates on the tombstones. We found one pretty close to where we were staying and went to visit it. It was just starting to get a little dark, and I happened to notice that there were several men walking through the cemetery by themselves, and some had other men following them throughout and then hiding within the overgrown bushes. I'm pretty sure that my 15 year old niece didn't notice what was going on, but I think my sister did. ::)
I’ve been at the ER with my mom after several hours of not being seen and in fact no one being called in the overflowing waiting room we left
She is going to call her Own doctor in the morning
Sorry..... Good evening.
-
Has this site been down for parts of the day?
-
Holy s***!
-
What to do?
-
I have little of interest to talk about.
-
I know, I know. When has that ever stopped me.
-
My television reception has been down for the last couple of hours.
-
Page three? If that isn't something or other I don't know what is.
-
My coverage is not cable; it is streaming TV.
-
This will not do.
-
We do not LIKE page three. Will no one rid me of this meddlesome page three.
-
This is the first real problem I have had in the last four months.
-
I, on the other hand, am back from a very long afternoon and evening. We left at three-thirty and the twenty-five minute drive to where we were going took ninety damn minutes. This city is so pathetic, traffic-wise, and one has to believe, after lo these many years, they simply don't care or don't WANT to fix it.
-
PAGE FOUR DANCE!!
We went to an iHop near the theater. I had a burger and a short stack as my side. The pancakes were exactly the way I remembered - terrible, but I ate about one and two-thirds of the two pancakes. The burger wasn't too bad. And we managed to kill almost ninety minutes there, so that was good.
-
Hi, Tom and BK.
-
Then we picked up the tickets, then took a walk and looked at all the nearby stores.
-
I have little of interest to talk about.
Neither do I. :-\
-
Then we saw the show, a really, REALLY horrid musical of Grumpy Old Men. This thing has been kicking around since 2009, maybe before. It's first production was in 2011. As far as I can tell, that was pretty much it, unless there were some community theater productions.
Then for some unknown reason, they did it last year at the Ogunquit Playhouse with Mark Jakoby, my friend Leslie Stevens (who was in Inside Out for me), Hal Linden, and Sally Struthers. I'm quite sure it did not raise the roof, review-wise. Then the La Mirada Theater had a show fall out. Someone called me about that and said I should get them Levi right away. I tried. No one could be bothered to return a call or answer an e-mail, which I found insufferably rude.
Of course, BK, we could be on Page 87 by now if you put each sentence in its own paragraph. ::)
-
Today was the old actors lunch.
-
So, what do they do? They literally "buy" that production - the set, the director, the choreographer, Mr. Jakoby, Mr. Linden, and Ms. Stevens. Of course, given the folks who run the theater, Ms. Struthers' role was played by - Cathy Rigby. It's just a typical, by-the-numbers, "now" adaptation of a movie, without seeming to know what actually made the movie work, a lot of which was - Mr. Matthau and Mr. Lemmon. Here we get twenty-one boring musical numbers, terrible writing, jokes which mostly don't land, and a show with little plot and no one you really care about, because they're trying to do so many subplots and the grumpy old men take a back seat to those too much of the time.
-
;)
-
But the actors were all fine, although a couple were directed so poorly to play their roles as complete cartoons - sorry, can't take that seriously and it's just bad.
-
You know that group can be pretty insufferable when they are all doing shows except me!
-
After, we saw Leslie, had a lovely chat with Hal, saw stage manager John (he stage managed Hit Song and the Richard Sherman birthday tribute for me), and Greg North, who played one of the grumpy old men. That was the best part of the evening.
-
I shan't, of course, go into detail in the notes.
