Well, you've read the notes, the notes occurred in the time/space continuum, and now it is time for you to post until the time/space cows come home.

Tonight, a friend is having a reading of a play called Fox, which is loosely based on Volpone by Elizabethan playwright Ben Jonson.  I know several people in the cast, so that'll be fun.

Her mother was my mother's favorite aunt. My mother would stay with them on the Isle of Man. One time she got sick while there and stayed for weeks.  When I finally traveled to the Isle if Man and met my cousin in person I found out a bit more about my mother's illness than I had been told at the time.

Around 12:30 I woke and took the second Advil PM.  Some time around 4:00, I woke with the leg pains, and pretty much stayed awake until the alarm rang at 6:30.  I did doze on and off, and I woke around 5:30 after a nightmare about that frightening piece of fakelore from the late 1990s, The Blair Witch.

B.K.

Forgive me, but as worded, your question of the day is a bit unclear.

Are you talking about movies that were produced in the 1980s and 1990s that later became musicals?

Or, any musical (adapted from a film) that was produced in that time period?

Not sure if they fit into your time period, but the only two musicals that I can think of that were based on previously produced films are CHICAGO and THE PRODUCERS.

Of course, ROXIE HART (CHICAGO) was, I believe, produced back i the late 1930s or early 1940s, so I don't know if that would count.

The only musical I've seen recently that was as good, if not better, than the film it's based on was OnceMoulin Rouge remains to my thinking one of the absolute worst pieces of crap I've ever sat through,  and I'd put The Goodbye Girl nearly as bad, although it had the advantage of a better book by Neil Simon.  The book for Moulin Rouge is a joke.

I've never seen any of these, but I loved the Once cast album, and I really like the original Broadway cast recording to The Goodbye Girl.  I cannot stand the London cast recording where they cut all but one and a half songs and rewrote the score with a different lyricist.  BAD MISTAKE!  I really don't have any interest in seeing or hearing Moulin Rouge.

Here's a bio of Mr. Beaver:

JIM BEAVER is an actor, playwright and film historian. He is most popular to
worldwide audiences for his recurring role as Bobby Singer in the television series,

“Supernatural,” now entering its 15th and final season. He played Whitney Ells-
worth in the HBO series “Deadwood” and Sheriff Shelby Parlow on the FX series,

“Justified.” He also recurred as gun dealer Lawson on “Breaking Bad” and as French
Stewart’s sullen boss on NBC’s “Third Rock from the Sun.”

In 2016 he played Big Daddy in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF at the Berkshire The-
atre Festival and toured in the early 80s as Macduff in MACBETH and THE LAST

MEETING OF THE NIGHTS OF THE WHITE MAGNOLIA. A long-time mem-
ber of Theatre West, he has written and appeared in VERDIGRIS, in last year’s THE

NIGHT FORLORN and in their critically-acclaimed LION IN WINTER as Henry.
Jim is working on a biography on the late actor George Reeves and served as historical/biographical consultant
on the film HOLLYWOODLAND.
Jim has appeared in over fifty feature films, most notably: SILKWOOD, TURNER & HOOCH, SISTER ACT,
MAGNOLIA, ADAPTATION, THE LIFE OF DAVID GALE and the upcoming BILLY BOY. Jim had a starring
role in Guillermo del Toro’s recent graphic ghost story, CRIMSON PEAK, a part that del Toro wrote for him.

But even in that film, when the kid walked into the room with the hatchet in his head, I just about lost it.

And now, I'm off.  I'm going to the reading of a new play (adapted) by a friend of mine.

Until later!

I'm home.  The play reading was fun!  Not knee-slapping funny, but it was pretty funny.

Our actor is in - turns out he'd contacted Doug via text - he doesn't have my cell.  The wonderful actor Jim Beaver is our Whiteside.  He was a regular on Deadwood, and has been a series regular from the start on the long and still-running Supernatural.  We are all thrilled.

Congrats, BK!

I turn off the volume on my TV during commercials, so I don't pay attention.
