Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no size and lacked consistency, and now it is time for you to post until the inconsistent cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FLEXUOUS!
-
First post after BK.
-
Tonight, after two days of concessioning, I will be back again to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts to usher for The Simon and Garfunkel Story (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/19-10-06-simon-garfunkel-story/).
-
Here's a description:
This nostalgic and immersive concert-style theater show with full live band chronicles the amazing journey shared by the folk-rock duo, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. It tells the story from their humble beginnings to their incredible success as one of the best-selling music groups of the ‘60s to their dramatic split in 1970. It culminates with the famous “The Concert in Central Park” reunion in 1981.
-
Sounds like it could be fun. I wonder if my sister's boyfriend is going to go. He really likes Simon and Garfunkel.
-
I'm not specifically a fan of theirs, but I'm sure that I'll enjoy it.
-
Listening to the Brahms symphonies, the cycle by George Szell - this may now displace my other favorites - absolutely brilliant and this new DSD mastering in really amazing - it's also an SACD so I'll listen that way, too, but stunning even on CD.
-
Today, I get to sleep in! Hoo and Ray! I need to do some laundry and watch some TV before I usher tonight. My friend Margo is also ushering, so we might go out to dinner before the show. I got a gift card for a new-ish restaurant that we've been to before and I want to use it just because. I'll see what Margo thinks.
Have a good day, all!
-
Thank you DR Laura.
-
Wishing Sanda & Laura a very good vacation.
-
Vibes to the emcee!

Continued vibes for DR elmore!

Our vacation is basically over . We are sitting on the train to London. We are early for our 4 hour trip. This way we got out suitcases on the little rack behind our reserved seats. We also reserved those seats as not to repeat our unpleasant, stressful rid to Manchester.
-
From London we will go to Heathrow for the night.
-
I must conserve my tablet battery for reading as there isn't an outlet for charging it. Some trains have them. Of corse our li gest ride yet does not.
-
Laters.
-
A happy correction, it is only a 2.5 hour train ride 😊
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well, which is a first. I had a moment oif panic attacks about hip surgery sometime between midnight and 2:00 when I took the second Advil PM. It was a constant, repeating nightmare about catheters.
-
I had Annabelle and Stella fighting for warmth in a chilly room last night. Thatch wandered over a couple of times to check on me, then withdrew to the cat tree.
-
When I got up to feed them at 6:15, I took another Tramadol, fed the cats, went back to bed, and slept soundly until 8:30. I had a long nightmare about my goddaughter Charlotte, a party at their house, which seemed to be in Middletown, OH, rather than Manhattan, a production of Oklahoma! that I was going to attend the following night, and the fact that I lived in a house across the street from Charlotte and her family. In this dream, I was at their home, visiting with Charlotte and her mother, unaware that my former best friend was home. That led to awkwardness and my departure.

I spent most of yesterday writing several unsuccessful openings for this overture I'm writing. I think I've reached a solution that makes me happy, so I will work on that today.
-
Thanks to those of you who sent vibes yesterday. Please keep them coming. I am heading into a very bad situation unless something wonderful occurs in the not-too-distant future.
-
Working on the overture vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Just reading about 4 1/2 hours of the show in the notes made me tired.....
-
It rained last night and my mums look bedraggled.....

Train ride vibes for DR JANE.
Vacation vibes for DR LAURA & SANDRA.

DR ChasSmith, how did last night's performance go?
-
Let's get to page 2.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
Yesterday, cleaning the litter became a major ordeal. After two years, you'd think I'd have it organized to go smoothly to the last second. It was a total disaster, yet this morning, it was smoothly accomplished in less than five minutes. Go figure.
-
DR Laura, have you told us your vacation plans?
-
Good morning, all.
-
DR ChasSmith, how did last night's performance go?
Very well, thank you. It was one of those times I felt “off”, myself, and it was an effort just to get through the evening. Then afterwards, everyone was gushing over how great the music is sounding. So go figure. I’m very happy they thought so.
-
Except for the obvious good things, BK’s last night sounds like torture.
Too bad about the theater. It’s always so demoralizing to hear of such horrible changes made to any venue.
-
I have to start getting ready soon for our matinee.
After today, only two more shows. Which seems utterly impossible. Where did the last few weeks go?
-
Just reading about 4 1/2 hours of the show in the notes made me tired.....
These past months in NYC theater, there have been so many shows opening that are under 70 minutes. (Of course, cabaret shows were always an hour or less, and no one felt it wasn't a full evening out.)
-
When Pinter's "Ashes to Ashes" was about 40 minutes, there were headlines like "New Pinter Play more than a dollar a minute" - these days, with $400 at least for OK seats to any hit show, $1 a minute seems like a bargain. But it does seem possibly that audiences want an evening of live theater, but really want to get home or to dinner or back to their screens having had an experience.
The Pinter play added a discussion to every performance to extend when people got out in the street after the show.
-
What I can't tell is if millennial or other writers are learning to writing this way, economically yet a full story that feels like a satisfying evening for the ticket buyers, or if theaters are suddenly choosing the very short plays recently for various reasons. I guess they don't worry about the lost concession sales.
It's got to be cheaper in some ways to put on a 70-minute play than a 3-hour play. (as long as sales dollars don't decrease as a result)
-
Train ride vibes for DR JANE.
Vacation vibes for DR LAURA & SANDRA.
Thanks. All went well and we are now in our hotel room.
-
We had an enjoyable conversation with our Uber driver on the way here.
-
While born in London his family is from Nigeria and he visits there fairly often.

I am glad they thought so. May you feel better about the last two shows.

Hello, all.
-
We made it to Kos. Beautiful island, at least what I’ve seen so far.
-
Somebody else is scheduled to set the altar this month and two couples have taken over the setting up and serving of coffee hour so after church I went right to the deli and bought our egg sandwiches and came home to a hotpot if tea freshly made by vixdad
-
Then we both went back to church to partake of the flu vaccine clinic and received our shots
-
The Thrivent financial guys were there too so we chatted about 401ks for a bit
-
Then we went off to the ice cream shoppe for early waffle ice cream bowls
-

I hope there will be photos.

DR John how did you travel to the island?

~~~Never Ending Vibes for Larry!!~~~
-
I'm up, I'm up - again. Was up at ten due to a confluence of irritants, stayed in bed until ten-thirty, got up, went back to bed at noon, fell asleep soon thereafter, so I suppose I got eight hours of sleep, maybe a bit more.
-
Good evening!
-
My nephew and his adorable 2-year daughter came over to former DR Kate’s house this morning. She had a good time coloring and playing with the dogs.
-
More vibes for DR elmore!
-
DR Laura, have you told us your vacation plans?
I’ve been wondering too !
Lots of vibes for DR Elmore!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lots of people doing lots of things at HHW today.
-
Barnum is letting me know that the television is not on.....he has been amused with the little boys hollering and playing ball in the street....basketball then kickball then baseball the bicycle riding....
-
I am trying to decide if I want to do my shopping and banking on Monday instead of Tuesday....we shall see what transpires in the morning.
-
I'm about ready to close shop, watch a little TV, and go to bed.
-
Sunday evening greetings! We went to Lima today for Fr. Richard’s quarterly visit to the parishioners who continue to meet weekly for Morning Prayer. They appreciate receiving communion a few times a year. We also visited Mr. and Mrs. L in his hospital room. Today is his 99th birthday and he had to have hip surgery Thursday after taking a bad fall Tuesday evening. We had lunch in Sidney, OH, and made a stop at Kroger before coming home for naps.
-
Page THREE? Really?
-
Back from Nordstrom Rack - well, I learned a valuable lesson - never go on a Sunday at three-thirty. I did the return, they buy the money on a gift card, and I found the right length size but tried them on to make sure. The line to checkout was ridiculous. All in all, yesterday I was in there a total of fifteen minutes. Today it took almost an hour.
-
Then I went to the party - very crowded. I ate one fried chicken breast (really small), one bite of potato salad (okay) and one bite of Caesar salad with almost no dressing.
-
I stayed ninety minutes, then left. I stopped at Gelson's and got a couple of light snack things, then got on the freeway at Laurel Canyon - mistake - jammed - no idea why.
-
Good evening. We spent the day driving. Tomorrow perhaps I shall post a photo from our vacation, if I can figure out how to do it from a phone.
-
Photos are good. Posts are good.
-
So, perhaps some postings would be nice. You'd think this was a Sunday or something.
-
Now playing: The symphonies of Carl Nielsen - I have several sets of these but I'm really enjoying this four-CD set conducted by Eugene Ormandy for half and Leonard Bernstein for half. Superb Columbia stereo sound.
-
I'm in the lobby, listening to THE SIMON & GARFUNKEL STORY through the speakers.
-
It's a good show. The guys are really good, but the sound is just a bit too loud, and just loud enough that with the little bit of a headache that I have, that it's all just enough to annoy me. :P
-
But they are good performers.
-
The show is essentially a S&G concert with a little bit of story telling in between the songs.
-
I'm going to buy the CD and get it autographed. They announced that they'll come out to sign.
-
But on a sad note, Madcap confetti-throwing comic Rip Taylor has died at 84 (https://my.xfinity.com/articles/news-entertainment/20191006/US--Obit-Rip-Taylor-5232). :(
-
And now, I'm going back into the theater. My headache is better, so I shouldn't mind the volume so much.
-
The show is over and Margo is home. Now, I'm off to home.
-
I'm home.
-
Where the hell is everyone else?? :o
-
Well...
...since...
...no...
Good evening.
Hi, George.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
It’s breakfast time here.
-
Hi, Tom.
Hi, John, when do you come home?
-
There are two or three kitty beds here in the condo that came from the apartment.
-
Nick hasn’t used any of them.
-
His favorite spot is under my bed.
-
He doesn’t even like to sleep on my bed either when I am in the room, or out.
-
The two S&G guys came out (into the lobby ;) ) to sign CDs. Here's the CD that I got:
-
Lately, he has taken a fancy to the bath mat in the main bathroom.
-
And here I am with them! They are both quite the cuties! ;D
-
But mostly he still prefers (furs...furs) under the bed.
-
So , last week for his birthday I got him a really nice bath mat and put it under the bed.
-
And here I am with them! They are both quite the cuties! ;D
Who played which part?
-
George, they are cute. Were you on pick-up patrol and were you successful?
-
George, they are cute. Were you on pick-up patrol and were you successful?
If he was successful do you think he would be posting tonight?
-
Anyway, the first couple of days Nick ignored the mat.
-
But this weekend he has finally taken to it.
-
sorry, lost my mind. btw, George, you need a haircut!
-
And that is my story and I’m sticking to it!
You and my mother! >:(
-
When it comes to the actual pair, I have always preferred Art Garfunkel
-
However, of this pair I prefer Simon.
-
sorry, lost my mind. btw, George, you need a haircut!
You and my mother! >:(
I think so, too.
I think so, too.
I'll get my hair cut when I'm darned good and ready!
-
Actually, I'm ready...I just haven't done it yet.
-
Are you ready now or do I have to come up there and shave your head?
-
Are you ready now or do I have to come up there and shave your head?
Oh no, that would not look good.
No...not at all!
Hi, Tom.
Hi, John, when do you come home?
A week from tomorrow.
