Title: BADGE OF HONOR
Post by: bk on November 19, 2019, 12:11:46 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a badge and no honor, and now it is time for you to post until the honorable cows come home - they tried an impossible burger and spit it out.

After that, I really like (in no particular order):  pecans, peanuts, walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and cocoanuts.  Those are what I can think of now.

It’s McBeth set in Pennsylvania in the 1970’s, and rather than a kingdom it’s a burger joint.

It was really fun and I recommend it.

I have NOT partaken of the chicken sandwich craze.

I'll be more than happy to try the Popeye's at some point when it's no big deal to pull in and get one. Actually, in my area, that may be possible right now. I have no idea if our lone Popeye's is still being inundated with these crowds.

It's funny, because we never had a Popeye's here until a couple of years ago. The closest ones were in NYC or out in NY state somewhere, and because of that I'd only ever had a couple of pieces of their chicken. I do find it good, and I enjoy the Cajun-influenced sides, etc. But it's not located near enough to me that I think about it often, and I don't think they'll ever be the only game in town.

Quiet day today.

Being retired has its privileges.

Except I am watching Creature of Destruction.....a terrible Larry Buchanan made in Texas movie......one of a series.....  A remake of The She Creature - not that one was needed.

DR TCB, the second reason for having a different online library card is the wait in a queue.   One library might have 30 holds on a book while the other library has the book available, or only 10 hold on 3 copies.

Then there is simply when you are not allowed any more holds it becomes time to use a different card.

TOD:
cashews, almonds, peanuts, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, and brazil nuts. I don't particularly like hazelnuts.

Mark and I did finally go to Popeye's last week to see what all the fuss was about. The sandwich was okay. We were both disappointed that the outside wasn't crispier.
Meanwhile, Mark went to a new hot chicken place for lunch that's close to where he works. The choices were mild, medium, hot, very hot, and reaper. He order the "hot" and found it was too hot to be enjoyable. I would have ordered the mild. Maybe we'll go together this weekend. I think he needs a do-over.

Tuesday morning greetings!  For today’s excitement we have the heavy-duty plumbers here trying to unclog our basement drains.  Richard discovered the problem on Friday, but they couldn’t get to us until today.  That means we’ve had to limit our water use to flushing and short showers.  We’re out of clean plates and can’t wash dishes, even by hand.  And while they’re working we have to go up the street to the senior center to use the restrooms.

I am not amused.

This is for ther tour, which begins in several weeks.  Our friend John Bell, who conducted some of the Lincoln Center performances, will conduct the tour.  Joshie's King & I tour orchestrations are those heard in the London broadcast.

It's unusual for a cat to eat chips or anything like that, but I knew one that ate just about anything. Must have been raised by a pack of dogs.

Okay, people, it's that time of year - the Broadway World LA theater nominations are out - A Carol Christmas is up for a whopping sixteen awards.  Please immediately go vote.  We're up for every category of local musical (plus Kritzerland in special theater event) - we have several actresses up for supporting - please vote for Peyton Kirkner in that category, and Lloyd Pederson in the supporting male category, where we have two up.  Our categories are: Best Musical Local, Best Director of a Musical Local, Best Musical Director Local, Best Choreography Local, Best Set Design Local, Best Costume Design, Best Sound Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Leading Actress in a Musical Local, Best Featured Actress in a Musical Local, Best Featured Actor in a Musical Local.  Sooner is better for voting.

Back from rehearsal.  Ran act one and ran act one to the end of scene one all over again.  But the first hour of rehearsal was getting everyone acclimated to our real stage space and the bones of our set.  I had to adjust a bunch of blocking because our stage is wider and roomier.  That all took time.  But it's getting there and everything looks very good.

It starts out fine, but as it goes through the show, it's like the sound slows down just a tiny bit so that by the end of the show, the sound is off by more than a second from the video. :P

BK, as silly as the process for those BroadwayWorld awards is, it's no sillier than the process that got Bristol Palin and Sean Spicer staying on the dance show longer than they would have been.

A few years ago, Maureen won for the lead in a regional NJ show, a beautiful new play, and she really had done nothing for pushing herself, but the writer and the theater she was at had done some pushing.

She said she learned about it when a donor-type congratulated her as iff she'd won a critics award - what those in the know realize are pure popularity contests,  are promotable by theaters.

Their chicken wonton tacos are to die for.  They have a quesadilla burger that is very messy to eat, but great.  I have their Bourbon Street chicken and shrimp.  Most things are good there.

This year, she had an even more remarkable performance last spring in an old play.  At the very least, it reminds people of the reception she got for the show.  being in people's minds positively never hurts!

In your case, you as an artist and producer have honors beyond that already, so you likely don't need it for yourself, but it makes people read the name of your show (and your name)  in a good context and the name of the show can stick when people are thinking of Christmas shows.
