Title: THE COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE PRODUCTIVE REHEARSAL

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both counter-productive and productive, and now it is time for you to post until the counter-productive cows come home.

Let me just say that Man/Dinner will be rousing fun. ;)

Yesterday, I recorded another episode of The Partridge Family.  In this one (according to Comcast's description):  "Laurie's diary falls into the hands of the editor of the school newspaper."  The editor's name is Marvin, and he's played by our very own BK!

Outside of a market trip, I have no plans for today. I may buckle down and assemble my weekly meds if I can keep Stella away long enough to accomplish that.

Well, after my second viewing of Holiday, I still don't like it very much. Too much of the evils of being rich, but You Can't Take It With You is more fun.  I think The cast is really good, and it was fun to see Jean Dixon, who starred on Broadway in Kaufman & Hart's Once In A Lifetime, which happens to be my current bus read. Annabelle loved it, and we will have to suffer through her attempts to speak like Hepburn until I can divert her with something else.  I much prefer The Philadelphia Story, so we may watch that tonight.

DR JohnG, Thatch loves the 2-part Richard Lester version of The Three Musketeers, which is the only film that covers about all of Dumas' wonderful novel.

For years I have kept a Duane Reade shopping bag in the kitchen for recyclable paper.  Once it's filled, I could carry it to the basement.  Recently Stella destroyed it and chewed off the handles, so that's now only good for something the cats play or sleep in when they want to be in my way in the kitchen.  So I ordered from Amazon a six-pack set of shopping bas.  I'll use one for the recyclable paper, several for toting things about, and one for the cats to play in.

Kitty cleanup is finished, and Thatch is happy to have a fresh bowl of kibble to nibble on during the day.  I think Stella is happy, too, but she refuses to talk.

Sorry skeptics, but sometimes there is nothing more satisfying and tasty as an Egg McMuffin.

Yep, everything has its purpose. I'm an aficionado of true breakfast sandwiches, but DR Elmore speaks for me, too, though in my case it's the Sausage & Egg McMuffin that wins the prize. Or even just the Sausage McMuffin with no egg. I haven't had the original Egg McMuffin in years, but I found it cloying and on the bland side. The thing that McDonald's oddly gets right in so many items is their seasonings, and the Sausage McM is one of the beneficiaries.

Jrand, this is a problem I had with my original test disc and was told it was my older OPPO player - but that it was just the test disc.  But it happens with the real disc, too.  And it's happened on a couple of other players that are older - they think it may have something to do with the 24-bit soundtrack and players trying to buffer it upon loading, but I don't understand any of that.  They're doing a test.  It works fine in my Apple external DVD drive so it does work.  What would be helpful is to know the make and model of your player.  Can you please get me that?

It is an LG BluRay-DVD Player Model No. BPM 25.

I've had it about a year, but the date beside the serial number on the back is September, 2016....so 3 years old.

It's the newest one I have in the house.....but I'll try it on a couple of others if the experts think that will help....but as I say, they are even older models.

It's a rare sympathetic English-language film showing World War II from the Nazi perspective. The one odd moment or two stems from the fact that these actors all speak English, except when they sing. Then the songs are in German.

Today, my friend Margo and I are going to see Frozen II in IMAX.  That'll be fun. :)

It was!  Frozen II was pretty good.

It got a 75% from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/frozen_ii), but 94% from audiences.

Frozen II had a more comlicated story than the first movie, and no "Let It Go"-equivalent song.

The songs were good, but I don't think that (m)any of them will have a recording life outside the movie.

Can you tell us what the story is about?

It's about a heart-healthy beef that can actually help you lose weight. I did finish the piece. It was about 550 words.

I don't write enough anymore to make these things easy. I guess I need to buckle down and do it.

Before the movie, we went to Casa Mia (http://www.casamiarestaurants.com/) in Lacey for an early dinner.

Who would have thought Let It Go would be so memorable?

Speaking of my financial straits, that damned property is not moving and if we do not sell it in December, then I am stuck in January with a property tax bill I am unable to pay.  We need some selling vibes, DRs!

And I finally hit Barnes and Noble during the Criterion sale. Only picked up four, one of which (Thief or Blood Simple) will be a Christmas present. I'm keeping Ozu's Good Morning, a charming comedy I've seen twice before and just love, and Time Bandits.

I've never heard of Ozu's Good Morning, but I love Time Bandits.

Back from a decent run-through - some fun stuff, some sloppy stuff, and still too long - but people are getting used to going faster, so that's good.  And great to be back on our set - which is the way it will be from now on.

My Thanksgiving is now up in the air. I was planning on visiting Bonnie in San Angelo, but she called to say her step-father had died. She doesn’t know what’s going to happen, so we’re playing it by ear. I’m okay with that.

Oh, no. :( My condolences on Bonnie's loss.

DR John a while back you had begun reading One is Inland by Tea Obreht.  Did you like it?  I looks interesting, however, I was just ok with The Tiger's Wife and am not sure I want to read another book by her.

I never had time to finish it before it was due back at the library. I may get it again, but right now six of my other reserved books are in. I finished Julie Andrews' autobiography today.

Thanks.  I suppose if you really liked what you read you would have checked it out again ;)

I didn't get far enough into it to form an opinion. I was like you on "The Tiger's Wife."

Thanks.  I think I will pass on it.  I have no idea why I typed One is before the actual title ;D

I am more interested in Atwood's The Testaments. They're due in soon.

I keep putting off reading the first book thinking Keith will want to watch it.

I can't imagine that it's not an option at most places.  It's definitely worth it!  You can get either two cannelloni, or two manicotti, or one of each...which is my preference.

It could be worse.  She could have watched a Phyllis Diller movie marathon!
