Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in spitting distance, and now it is time for you to post until the spitting distance cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POSTPRANDIAL!
-
First post after BK.
-
I have no questions (at this time).
-
Paul Rudd was just on STEPHEN COLBERT. He is really a cutie, but I wanted to reach thru the TV and fix his hair.
-
Oh, I mean, last night he was just on STEPHEN COLBERT.

Paul Rudd was just on STEPHEN COLBERT. He is really a cutie, but I wanted to reach thru the TV and fix his hair.
He is definitely a cutie!
-
Safeway is coming in the morning, so I should get some sleep.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
Good night, George. And a Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
-
Good night, George. And a Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
Thanks, and to you, too!
-
Time to go to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night was the first night in over two months that I actually slept well. I had the usual pains, but I wasn't as restless or up as many times as I usually am.
-
I have physical therapy this morning and I really look forward to it.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It’s so hard to believe today is Thanksgiving Eve.
And yet... you know what? it’s Thanksgiving Eve.
-
This morning I have a 9:00 breakfast meeting with my director.
Why, oh why, didn’t I say let’s make it 10:00 instead? It will be fun, productive, and above all, delicious. I just need some more sit time today before jumping in.
We’re going to a diner that opened a decade or so ago that I’ve managed to not get to yet, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. It’s still the “new” diner to me, as most of them in the area predate my time here so they were always part of the landscape. But it looks inviting, and that’s important in a diner.
-
I've never tried sambucol. There's definitely some bug going around our building.
-
Thank you, DR Elmore, for the lovely Thanksgiving e-card!
-
Must. Feed. Monsters. Back later.
-
In Florida, everyone seemed healthy. I had extra strength lozenges and tried to stay away from being on top of others.
-
Though I must say at the theater where John Archibald from castrecl is starring [more on that next post, I'd thought the "elf" would be the starring role from TV] in "Elf," there were lots of heavyset but very healthy seeming people lining up at the dinner theater buffet, so I didn't feel self-conscious about how much food I was taking.
-
Last time I went to buffet dinner at a dinner theater was in Maryland, where people seemed to be picking healthy offerings. That was 2016.
-
Likewise, when I saw "Titanic" at a dinner theater in Westchester where a lot of NYC folks seemed to be in attendance. I think it was the first time a scaled-down version was that close to NYC, and it was directed by a member of the original Bway cast, who had enticed several actors who'd been in the show on Bway at various times. (The Mrs. Strauss was one of the Mrs. Strausses I'd seen on Broadway and she used to live in our building.)
-
But I digressed, or is it "I digest?" In Westchester and Maryland, even with all you can eat, people did not pile the food on. In Florida, it was like the Vegas buffets, where people seemed to be taking enough for two meals.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Happy Thanksgiving Eve.
-
I need to bake a fresh pear cake today. Then I should be ready for tomorrow.
-
Vixmom, I don’t know how we’re going to prepare the mushrooms, but I was asked to bring sherry.
-

Sounds like pile high San Antonio.
-
Two!
-
As I mentioned, until seeing someone I/we knew in the role, it never registered that Santa got the final bow, and it seems from asking people who remember that the actor playing Santa got the final bow in NYC too.
-
RIP Jonathan Miller, 85
-
Santa is a low-solo role, I guess designed so that some people with TV names and big personalities could play it in NYC.
-
Thanksgiving Eve greetings! I'm having my hair cut at 9:30 and then we'll head west for our 3rd annual holiday weekend with my sister's family.
Bye for now!
-
But Santa a really nice reprise in act 2, that nobody cares about Santa Claus any more - and it becomes huge emotional moment where everyone in the cast rushes ion and says "we care, Santa" - which showed in this case castrecler John Archibald could really sing -
-
but for the Broadway version, it allowed Santa to sing briefly but then the scene is ALL about believing in Santa - like Wayne Knight (who was Newman from Seinfeld so a draw who also got press at the time, a bigger draw then that the lead elf, Sebastian Arcelus, who has since gone on to deserved TV note but was not a name then), or another year George Wendt from Cheers.
-
And I think Ed Asner had done the role, too IIRC.
-
Am I making up for being E&T yet?
-
Vixmom, I don’t know how we’re going to prepare the mushrooms, but I was asked to bring sherry.
Isn't Sherry TCB's friend who starred in "A Little Night Music" in Seattle?
-

Are there any dinner theaters in San Antonio that do new musicals?
Wondering if "Viva Max" would go over actually in San Antonio?
-
I do get the feeling that in this area of Florida, "dinner and a show" may be the norm.
The actors really seemed to enjoy being servers as well of the drinks and desserts and such. (The main meal, people got from the buffet on their own.) that also happened in Maryland, where we found too our sprite that our server was the actor playing the male lead.
-
It seemed when a show is a hit, the lead actor loved the interaction with the audience as himself at intermission. And he knew he was great in the role and very happily "hawked" the dinner theater show he was doing two towns over a month later.
Equity doesn't let actors also be servers, I think. There was some reason at "Elf" John could not be server. I;m pretty sure it was because he was Equity; with his raconteur skills, he'd have had a ball kibitzing with the audience and oh, by the way, here are your drinks. :).
-
Kitty cleanup finished, I'm having a bit of breakfast to take my meds and pain meds before I leave.
-
Looking at the Theater Hall of Fame lists that have just been put - It feels like the threshold for Theater Hall of Fame honors is so sketchy that it becomes if everybody with even a slight 'name" gets honored, is it an honor any more?
-

There is one dinner theater here. I have never been. Viva Max would go over here. I think there are better venues for the show.
-
Lots of wind and rain last night, but I think it went north so DR GINNY shouldn't have to worry.
-
DR VIXMOM that is a unique situation.....as DR GEORGE said....here we have to scan something and then put it in the bag...there is a weigher/scanner that keeps track.
If anything is put in the bag and not scanned there is a buzzer AND a watcher who keeps an eye on everything and everyone.
I rarely if EVER use the self checkout......something always goes wrong.....but then I use cash instead of my card, I'm a Luddite....as former DR JMK used to say.
-
I have two questions for ASK BK DAY:
1. Are you having ONE or TWO intermissions in your production...and where are you putting it [them]?
2. When timing your acts how do you account for audience response?
-
Good morning!
-
I have to do laundry and a few other things in preparation for my flight tomorrow morning.
-
I'll be shuffling off to Cheektowaga (that's where the Buffalo airport is).
-
Michael Apted has a new installment in his documentary series. This is 63 Up. I’m excited beyond belief. I feel as if I’ve lived with and know these people from when they were kids at the time of 7 Up to now.
-
I am home from therapy, and despite the agony from the stretching, pulling, and walking, I am glad I got an appointment. I will know on Tuesday if I am approved by the HMO for more sessions, and then I'll hopefully make an appointment.
-
I am debating going out for Thanksgiving or staying home. It's such pain to move that I really do not want to be a black cloud hanging over a festive group of friends, and I really, really, really do not want everyone fretting about my comfort, etc.
-
I just listened to the McGuire Sisters Sing Subways Are for Sleeping. Dang, but Jule Styne could write a melody.
-
I just listened to the McGuire Sisters Sing Subways Are for Sleeping. Dang, but Jule Styne could write a melody.
I'm surprised that isn't on iTunes. One of my mother's brothers dated one of the McGuire Sisters in high school; Phyllis, I think.
-
I did listen on Amazon to a little bit of Percy Faith's "Subways Are For Sleeping" album. it sounds fantastic.
-
Wiki says that the writer of the hit pop song "Don't Sleep in the Subway" said they took its title idea from "Subways are for Sleeping."
-
From Vixmom:
I do not have high hopes, my SIL teaches kindergarten in economically depressed area of Brooklyn, her students are always sick so of course...
I didn't realize the reason she is sick at every holiday. I feel guilty about it, but being sick all the time is why I stopped volunteering with children.
-
DR George I would not use cream cheese spread for anything, let alone cheese cake. My cheese cake takes 2 1/2- 3 days to set. How long does it say for your recipe?
-
DR TCB vibes you are well tomorrow and can go to Sharry & Micheal's.
-
Paul Rudd was just on STEPHEN COLBERT. He is really a cutie, but I wanted to reach thru the TV and fix his hair.
;D
I want to do that with my hair in half of my photos.

May you sleep as well tonight!

That's great, Larry! Hopefully, this is a trend that will continue!
-
DR Jeanne what kind of reading light do you use? I cannot live without Ottlite. But I found that it is much better if you unplug it when it's not in use. In the past I've left my older one plugged in all the time. And it stopped working.

RIP Jonathan Miller, 85
Oh, no. :-\

I don't want to jinx it but I am so happy that most of the snow has melted here. The roads are bare and I can wear shoes vs boots. Usually once we get a big snowstorm then it is boots for the entire winter.

This just says to refrigerate for at least four hours. Overnight is at least four hours, so I'm covered there. :)

This is the way I have seen it other places. Unless we have a quick check out I prefer to use the regular lines. I hate the idea that jobs will be lost, plus too often there is a problem while self checking.

One of the office managers of Brick-Run Sports Therapy brought his oldest daughter to the office today. Here she is with Gurjeet's dog, Shelby.

I am sure no one would mind fretting about your comfort. If you want to go, go. Otherwise rest at home. Just do what will make you the happiest.

Oh, my goodness! About 60 cars pile up in Spokane crash after snowstorm (https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/26/weather/spokane-washington-crash-snow-trnd/index.html). :o

That is something to cheer for :) I am happy it is not raining today. I hope it lasts.

I just called Spectrum, which is coming Monday to hook up the Internet. Goodbye, AT&T. And good riddance.

Well, I can't remember the last time I had a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake. Maybe I need to go to Tacoma (the closest to me) and compare. ;)

It works for me though I prefer their Anniversary cheesecake and that would not be a fair comparison.

I have two questions for ASK BK DAY:
1. Are you having ONE or TWO intermissions in your production...and where are you putting it [them]?
2. When timing your acts how do you account for audience response?
1. As written with two intermissions - act one ends with Sherry having gotten the idea for Lorraine to come and sings his little ditty. Act two ends with the radio broadcast and Miss Preen's amazing curtain line.
2. The audience response is, of course, always an unknown.
-
I'm up, I'm up - close to eight hours of sleep.
-
Busy brain this morning. I've completely rethought how we're opening the acts and going from act one scene one to act one scene two - I originally had a really funny pre-show announcement planned and written, but the powers that be stupidly want to sell subscriptions and tout the new season. I had no choice and to do the pre-show AFTER that just seems stupid now. But it was very clever. So, I've sent off the music cue sheet for all that. Then I rethought a few other things that just aren't working for me, and all of that will be implemented this evening.
-
I have to do laundry and a few other things in preparation for my flight tomorrow morning.
SAFE & EASY TRAVELS!
Thanks, DR Jane!

Michael Apted has a new installment in his documentary series. This is 63 Up. Im excited beyond belief. I feel as if Ive lived with and know these people from when they were kids at the time of 7 Up to now.
I've seen a couple of those and would like to see them all. One of the libraries in my area has some of them.
-
The cake smells wonderful. Dishes in the dishwasher. Clothes in the dryer.
-
I could use a nap. I'll have to wait until the cake is out of the pan and resting.
-
Watching a Portuguese/French film called Gebo and the Shadow. It's based on a play and it plays like one, but it's fairly interesting.
-
The cast includes Claudia Cardinale and Jeanne Moreau.
-
Moreau has just shown up. This might have been her last movie. She's definitely ill, but she's so happy to be working that her performance is full of life even in a tale of death.
-
According to imdb, it was her fourth to the last film.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!
-
Continued feel better vibes to DR ELMORE....thanks for the eCard.
Shelby is a great looking pup.
-
Such perfect curtain lines for the intermissions.
Ah....so your planned timings are times without the audience response......
-
Our two-hour breakfast meeting morphed into an additional four-hour editing/proofing session, and I am worn the hell out. And now it's time for a rehearsal! It's also our last one till the Sunday afternoon sitzprobe, and I'm not quite sure how that happened, but I'll take it.
I do believe BK and I have another op'nin' another show on the same night.
-
And with that, I'm off. Later!
-
Had a spicy Eyetalian Subway for lunch, picked up some packages, including a DGA screener of Booksmart.
-
Now I'm listening to music as I ponder the imponderables.
-
Designed and ordered my Xmas cards, so that's done.
-

That system is at the BJs which is the same sort of warehouse club as Costco
-
At the stop and shop supermarket you pick up your scanner gun on the way in and you can scan and bag as you’re going through the aisles.
-
When you’re done you scan your scanner , pay and roll out the door
-
All very civilized
-
And quick. Today even with Thanksgiving eve crowds and long lines I paid and was back in my car in a half hour
-
The ShopRite, on the other hand, does not have any self check options at all
-
One of the office managers of Brick-Run Sports Therapy brought his oldest daughter to the office today. Here she is with Gurjeet's dog, Shelby.
They are both adorable
-
I went into work an hour early but the boss man sent us home at 3:30
-
He also gave each of us two pies from a local farm famous for their fresh pies.
-
We were allowed to choose our pies, most people got apple or pumpkin or chocolate cream
-
I chose two fruit pies because I know there will be a pumpkin and a chocolate pudding pie at my SILs tomorrow
-
One pie is blueberry, which is as close as we can get to Saskatoonberry pie on Long Island.
-
Saskatoon berry pie is Vixdads favorite
-
The other is raspberry and peach.
-
I love both raspberries and peaches, but I have never heard of a pie mixing the two.
-
Vibes that everyone stays healthy
-
Even TCB
-
Back in the 1970s I discovered a Russian composer I really liked named Rodion Shchedrin - I've been reacquainting myself with his wonderful music - I had a couple of CDs of LPs I used to have, but YouTube has tons so I just grabbed all that stuff.
-
The ShopRite, on the other hand, does not have any self check options at all
Neither does Costco. When it first opened, the Lacey Costco had a self-check-out aisle, but they didn't keep it for very long. I would LOVE a 5-items-or-less aisle. THAT would be helpful at Costco! ;)

Yum.

Have I posted this tribute to hunks playing nebbishy Seymour?
Jonathan Groff in NYC and George Salazar in Pasadena.
"Stunningly Seymour" https://youtu.be/cHJ4VABe1KU
(Not since DeNiro as Raging Bull. George Salazar actually gained 5 or 6 pounds to try to look unattractive as Seymour - that's morbidly obese by L.A. standards, isn't it?)
-
So which on which network should we warch the Macy’s parade tomorrow?
-

Fred Meyer has something like that as well. I have never used it.

He has a large selection of flavors to choose from.

I like peach but not raspberry. Maybe the combination will help the raspberry flavor ;)
-

About Saskatoon Berries - Saskatoon Berry Institute
saskatoonberryinstitute.org › saskatoons
May 14, 2013 - Saskatoon berries (Amelanchier alnifolia) look much like blueberries, though they are more closely related to the apple family. Many would describe the taste of saskatoon as having a sweet, nutty almond flavor. They are also high in fiber, protein and antioxidants. Berries ripen in late June or early July.

I love raspberries

And hazelnuts

And meat

So which on which network should we warch the Macy’s parade tomorrow?
I completely forgot about it. I won't be watching it.
-
And hazelnuts
;D
-
I was ok with raspberries, kind of good take them or leave them.
Our first summer in Ashland we picked a lot of raspberries from our bushes. Even freshly picked I didn't want many, and then I didn't want any. The bushes had little thorns that caused a mild reaction on my skin when they pricked me. Wild blackberries have thorns but I never had the same kind of reaction to them.
-
I discovered our marionberry bushes, which were without thorns, were far produced fruit far more flavorable than the wild blackberries. I never tired of eating those, especially freshly picked.
-
Well, since we're so close...
-
six!!
-
So which on which network should we warch the Macy’s parade tomorrow?
I usually watch NBC's broadcast, but record both NBC and CBS. And I usually make my own DVD of just the musical numbers that I like...but especially the musical theater songs. :)
-

Fred Meyer has something like that as well. I have never used it.
The Lacey/Tumwater Fred Meyers don't have scanner guns that you take with you...at least, not yet.
-
I don't know exactly how it works. I think you pick up a bag to put items into and also have a scanner.
-
Keith had an eye check today. While he was there he picked up my contact order. When I opened it I was surprised that the boxes were labeled right & left eyes. Since my last check-up I have been wearing the same script in both eyes. It is very convenient not to have them the same.
Sure enough, on close inspection the two boxes are not the same script.
-
I spoke to a new person there who kept telling me my order is correct. She at least had the sense to say she will speak to the doctor and call me back.
-
Fortunately one of the boxes is correct so I am fine for a good while.
-

-
I really don't want to do that, and I expect it is a pain if you change your mind about an item after scanning it.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
-
As I expected the contact confusion has been straightened out. She was very nice about it all as everyone at the office normally is. If the weather was nice I wouldn't even mind the extra trip to trade out the contacts because the walk home is always enjoyable.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater.
Have a good evening.
-
Darn, I just noticed a different problem with my contacts making both boxes incorrect. Now I only have 9 days of contacts left.
-

As far as I know I have never had a marionberry
-
I don't know exactly how it works. I think you pick up a bag to put items into and also have a scanner.
A few years ago my county passed a law that stores must charge 5 cents for every plastic bag they give you. Virtually everyone now carries reusable bags .
-
I really don't want to do that, and I expect it is a pain if you change your mind about an item after scanning it.
No you simply press the delete button and scan it again. It's very useful when checking prices
-
I really don't want to do that, and I expect it is a pain if you change your mind about an item after scanning it.
It really makes things very convenient, particularly when you have frozen items. I use insulated shopping bags and hose my frozen stuff last. Oments after I am done shopping I can be out of the store because there are 14 registers just for scanner shopping check out and since nothing has to be rung up it's very fast .
-
Also there are no hold ups because people are arguing over the price of something, all coupons are pre entered, and there is no sticker shock at the register because the screen keeps a running total for you.
-

Interesting. I've never noticed any scanners, nor have I seen anyone using any, but I'm going again tonight, so I'll look more carefully.
-
Darn, I just noticed a different problem with my contacts making both boxes incorrect. Now I only have 9 days of contacts left.
Yikes! That's inconvenient. :P

I don't know exactly how it works. I think you pick up a bag to put items into and also have a scanner.
A few years ago my county passed a law that stores must charge 5 cents for every plastic bag they give you. Virtually everyone now carries reusable bags .
Here in Thurston County, they essentially outlawed plastic bags, but now everyone charges 5¢ for the big paper bags. Why are they charging for paper bags when no one ever charged for either paper OR plastic bags before??
-
Well, I need to get to Fred Meyer for some more cream cheese, and to see if anyone is using scanners.
Be back later.
-
Had a spicy Eyetalian Subway for lunch, picked up some packages, including a DGA screener of Booksmart.
I'll be interested in hearing what you think of Booksmart.
-
I love both raspberries and peaches, but I have never heard of a pie mixing the two.
I like peach but not raspberry. Maybe the combination will help the raspberry flavor ;)
I love raspberries
I love raspberries, too, but not in pie unless they're with something. Like peaches or cherries.
-
And hazelnuts
Jane's favorite.
-
Good night, all.

So, I didn't notice anyone using scanners, nor did I see any place to get them, nor did I notice anyone scanning anything with their own phones...not that it wasn't happening, but I just didn't see anyone. :-\
-
But, the cheesecake is done and out of the oven!
-
And here it is!
-
My only concern is that it'll turn out to be more fluffy-cakey than a dense-type cheesecake, which is much preferred.
-
If that is the case, I'm going to blame it on this recipe's five eggs, and next time try Jane's recipe that only uses two eggs.
-
Oh, look! It's PAGE SEVEN!!
-
Let's have a Page Seven Cheesecake at a Different Angle Dance!! :D

When we moved here we were shocked the markets had plastic bags. I have been taking my own bags into markets for over 30 years. Originally I reused paper bags until they fell apart.
-
I really don't want to do that, and I expect it is a pain if you change your mind about an item after scanning it.
No you simply press the delete button and scan it again. It's very useful when checking prices
I am referring to the method where you scan as you shop. Is that what you mean or the shelf check out counter?
-
Darn, I just noticed a different problem with my contacts making both boxes incorrect. Now I only have 9 days of contacts left.
Yikes! That's inconvenient. :P
I care more about running out of contacts. I prefer not to wear my glasses in the rain.

At the rate they keep sneaking into food I have noticed my reaction isn't as severe. Funny though I don't like them enough to completely test my theory. Better safe than sorry.

I will take a closer look at the system next time I am there.

I want a full report tomorrow.

Try mine anyway ;)

I have never wrapped the pan in tin foil. Is that to catch any drippjngs?
-
'night
-
We need more Creature reports!
-
Back from a pretty good run-through. Fixed several things I wasn't happy with. Act one ran forty-six minutes, so we're only a minute off there - and act three ran twenty-eight, so close there, even though it felt like forty minutes. Act two is still the problem child at forty-nine minutes. A lot of is is cues and pace, but I think I'm going to make a couple of small excisions that just kind of lay there and feel dated.
-
And here it is!
It looks good.
Thanks, Jane! I think so, too.

I'll have one. :)

It's supposed to keep the water from the waterbath out of the cheesecake, but I don't think I wrapped it thoroughly enough. I did notice some water, but hopefully, it's not so much to ruin the cheesecake.

And now, now that we're so close...

Gratuitous Post #200!
-
Raining.
-
Hello.
-
The wind is finally slowing down.
-
Almost 24 hours of wind.
-
At about 3:00 am , the wind woke me up. I thought someone was trying to break in thru the slider.
-
Hello, George.
-
One pie is blueberry, which is as close as we can get to Saskatoonberry pie on Long Island.
I thought the Saskatoonberry was more like a blackberry.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Here's the cheesecake with the sweetened sour cream on top:
-
It's now in the fridge, and will remain there until I leave to go to my sister's tomorrow.
-
I made my pumpkin dessert this evening.
-
I have no idea how it turned out.
-
This was the first time using my oven. I baked the dessert for one hour, and I was still not sure that it was completely done.
-
I didn’t have any toothpicks (they are in some damn box) so I stuck a knife into the center, instead. It came out so clean, that I stuck all the other dirty knives into the dessert so I didn’t have to run the dishwasher.

:)) I never have toothpicks so I use spaghetti.

I've set my DVR to record both NBC's and CBS's Macy's Parade broadcasts.
