Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a memory, and now it is time for you to post until the memory cows come home.

I had a very restless night, and I'm blaming it on all the rich food.  It was a delicious dinner but my home meals are very Spartan these days, so I'm sure the dinner was a total shock to my system.

Next week, when it becomes available on Redbox, I'll probably watch ONCE UPON A TIME IN ...HOLLYWOOD.

My son watched it on a plane last week; thought it was just so-so.

I still haven't forgiven Tarantino for stealing my title.

Good thing I’m not a Black Friday shopper. I can’t even imagine.

I think I went out on a Black Friday exactly once, over ten years ago. And that was late in the day for one particular thing, so it wasn’t even a big deal. But I just don’t take part in the madness.

I am absolutely disgusted at the weather forecasts for Sunday and Monday. They’re not even sure what this area will get, but whatever the type of precip or the mix turns out to be, it couldn’t come at a worse time. It’s our tech week, the cleanup could be difficult depending on what comes down, I’ve got a dental appointment that’s tough to reschedule ... and you name it.

Former DR JMK sent me the link to some HORRIFYING news....it seems that Deb Messing (the self proclaimed NEW Lucille Ball) and her cast mates are recreating some classic I Love Lucy episodes for a spring show.....

As I have said before - Deb Messing isn't even the NEW Marjorie Lord, although after she speaks, she pulls the corners of her mouth down like Marjorie always did because she's just so DAMNED funny and can't help breaking herself up.....

Oh, and Marjorie was beautiful.

Thank you again for the birthday wishes.  I should have the common sense to dine out on Thanksgiving when it falls on my birthday!  The work was worth it, though:  leek/potato soup, a fabulous bird, baked yams, green beans & almonds, amazing mashed potatoes (for kids who hate yams), watercress salad, cheeses, pecan, apple, pumpkin pies, cookies and Ferrero Rochet.  A splendid time had by all.   My daughter Mia flew in a 1 p.m., but her twin Alexa was not at Thanksgiving with us--- that was a first in 18 years--- but we Facetimed and that was great.  She'll be home in 2 weeks.

Hope everyone had a lovely holiday and sorry for bad weather affecting Chaz.  It sounds like Ginny had a great NYC getaway.

We went to Beaches.  I am stuffed.

We found out that a regular customer, Roger, whom we have become friendly with passed away yesterday.  We knew this was going to happen, still it is very sad.  Last week his waitress & good friend/extended family member gave us a card to sign.  She said he appreciated what Keith wrote.

The bar tender stopped by to say hello & was also sad about his passing.  Because the wait staff is encouraged to be personal with the customers you really get to visit with them and to know them better.  This waitress became friends with Roger years ago as he was a customer.  Then she introduced him to other customers she became close with, and then we met them all.  She made many trips to visit Roger while he was too sick to get out.

Since it is Black Friday I looked online to see if the stroller Bryan & Kate wants is on sale.  It was so we purchased it.  Our plan was to wait until January to buy it.  This was a good savings & shipping was included.

A woman rang our number from the call box and I ran out to help her.  She called us by mistake but her mission was a kind one.  She & the driver of her car found the wallet of one of our neighbors in the Fred Meyer parking lot.  They drove around searching for our place.  I walked her to his unit & fortunately he was home (if not I would have sent an email that we had his wallet).  He was totally surprised & clueless that his wallet was missing.

lectiver mashed potatoes brown in the skillet with eggs over easy for me

My mother made left over mashed potato patties, fried with Golden Syrup.  They are soooo good.  Does Vixdad like Lyle's Golden Syrup?

He does not, he is not a fan of anything overly sweet

Of course there was a proper pot of hot tea

Made with loose leaf tea?
We usually just use PGTips tea bags which we order from England

Yes. This year had a music theme. Billy Giddons from ZZ Top was master of ceremonies. Steve Earle and Flaco Jimenez were on floats. Jimmy Vaughan was playing some holiday blues. Nice.

One of the local news said that Olympia got down to 18°F this morning!  It was the lowest in the whole state!  The temperature at the time of the broadcast (about an hour ago) had gotten up to all of 26°.

George, I have found with the cheesecakes that I have made, people say they taste better if they sit for a couple of days before cutting into them. Do you have any leftovers? You could see if there’s any difference.

I've heard that, too.  I do have about a quarter of the cheesecake left, so I can see what it's like after some extra waiting time...not that I really want to wait to eat what's left. ;)

DR George I think your cheesecake just needed to set longer.   How much sour cream is used for the topping?  Is there any in the cake aside from the toppjng.

The topping was 1/2 cup sour cream plus 2 tablespoons sugar, and the cheesecake itself has 1/2 cup.

Jane, my condolences on Roger's passing. :(

I'm feeling it's past time for bed. Watching the Harold Lloyd spoof in Thoroughly Modern Millie is rather depressing. It misses so much of Lloyd's fearlessness for some cheap jokes.
