I didn't know all of the Chorus members who died, but I also lost friends outside the Chorus: actors, musicians, agents, directors, publicists, teachers. It felt as if there wasn't a day that passed without hearing someone was sick or dead.
DR Elmore, that's quite the number of ghosts standing behind you.
Condolences, and thank you for posting of it.
I know that we who never lived in NYC can't even imagine the real day-to-day impact.

It’s sleeting here, I’ve cancelled my afternoon plans after watching a few cars slip sliding away down the street
This morning we met for breakfast and Richard and I left from there for home. We had a very smooth 5-hour drive and are glad to be here.
Vibes for DR John G's father!
My niece Laura is retiring at the end of this month from her position as golf pro with Illinois State University. The article linked below appeared in Thursday morning's paper, on the front page of the sports section - above the fold:

Her phone blew up for 2 days with texts and emails of congratulations. I'm so proud of her!
Ginny, my apologies to you and to Jim Harbaugh on Michigan’s unfortunate one-sided loss yesterday!
DR Jane, yes, Laura is retiring young, but has several different avenues to an encore career.
I've been lying in bed, accompanied by Stella, Annabelle, and Thatch, reading the Cole Porter letters while they napped beside me. The authors research still bugs me: their notes on The Guardsman, when Cole Porter turns down a musical version, mention the film made by Lunt and Fontanne, but omit the fact that it was a play by Ferenc Molnar and the Nelson Eddy film The Chocolate Soldier. I think their research is pathetic, but I enjoy the letters. Porter comes off as a very kind and generous man.

Good list.
Speaking of the cats, one of them vomited on the kitchen rug, and I stepped in it on my way from the bathroom. I had to change socks. Oy!
George, I would love a copy of the SpongeBob performance.
DR George I am glad you saw the comments before purchasing a trimmer.
George could you please add Sponge Bob for me as well?
Today is World AIDS Day. On the New York City Gay Men's Chorus and Alumni Facebook page, my friend Jim Vivyan posted a 20-minute video of photos of the 200+ members who have died. Too many of them were friends during my tenure as staff arranger between 1981 and 1998, and I would swear that between 1984 and 1995, the Chorus sang for a memorial service for a dead member or friend or supporter of the Chorus.
The photos got to Michael MacDonald, the dear man who hanged my window blinds for me, and I lost it. His partner, Neil Bickford, had already died, and I remember Michael telling me, I'll be gone soon. Neil was a huge opera queen and he adored Renata Scotto. She called him shortly before he died.
My dear friend Bill Tynes gave me a career, and I orchestrated for his company, The New Amsterdam Theatre Company, until his death in January 1986. JUBILEE was his gift to me, and there have been so many times since January 1986 that I've wanted to call him and dish about recordings and revivals. I think he would have fallen completely in love with John McGlinn's complete Show Boat recording.
Unfortunately The forecast for Chas seems to be 8x that amount

George, I don’t remember if I asked for a copy of KINKY BOOTS, but having seen it, I would like to have a copy.
Thank you, George. I will still pass on SPONGEBOB.
Back from our two run-through long, long day. Second time through was better, but I'm cracking the whip now about the pace and I think we're going to make a couple of little lifts in act two to help it move along. Mostly, though, it's just picking up cues and talking fast.

Some areas won’t get the new apples until January.
