Well, you've read the notes, the notes were curious and a mystery, and now it is time for you to post until the curious cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GUSTATORY!
-
Good morning, all!

I had a serious panic attack over this post-colonoscopy phone call and appointment with a surgeon. It's ridiculous to panic over something I won't know anything about for another week, but my mind wouldn't stop running through a lot of what ifs, all of which unsettled me. I am not afraid of death, but I am terrified of the process, especially if it;s drawn out; I'm worried about the cats; I don't want them to leave a comfortable life and end up separated, frightened, abandoned to a shelter and euthanasia; I'm worried about finances, although I still believe the Annabelle & Thatch stories could be an income and I might make some money if anyone would do something with Moonshine & Mistletoe. And then of course there's that damned Ohio property, and the taxes have gone up $300 since last year.

I did have a very peculiar dream last night. I was working with BK on a recording for Barbra Streisand, while at the same time I was both orchestrating and costuming Phantom of the Opera for Goodspeed.
Whenever BK left the session, Streisand kept asking me questions about him: was he single? did he like girls? While the recording sessions were going on, I was dealing with problems at Goodspeed since I was away from rehearsals. My costume assistant was Charlene Kachkowsky, who had been an undergraduate in the theatre dept. when I was a grad assistant. When I formed my dance band in 1970, Charlene played trumpet.

Today I shall print my Amazon invoices, which will take more time than I like because I need to separate all the deductible items from the cat products. I'm sure both Annabelle and Stella will be impossible since the printer and its workings fascinate them to attack it and try to get at its interior.

Vibes for all good things Elmore
-
TCB...if it was me, I would feel better about not getting the part if I found out that the director gave it to a best friend and that was why I was given so little opportunity to read.
To me at least, knowing it was politics and that if Meryl Streep herself had shown up incognito she would not have had a shot at the role would keep me from feeling that I was being rejected for immediate appearance of lack of talent.
But you know your friend , so you must do what you think best. Just my 2cents

Kitty cleanup is finished. As soon as I make the bed and have some breakfast, I'll begin printing invoices.

Thank you, dear. How's your hand burn?

DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates that you enjoy working with MR BK and the opportunities it affords you but that you feel you don't know him very well personally.
You may also hear from or about your friend Charlene in the next ten days.

I like the song GUSTATORY in the musical CATS.
-
DR VIXMOM did the cabinet get put back up? I missed the ending to the story.
-
Snow and cold today.....but only about an inch in my area and it is fairly clear.....bitter cold predicted for tonight and tomorrow.
-
Well when the time comes....MR BK, I have found that the flat antenna that looks like a mouse pad works better than the rabbit ear type - at least for me....and it's best if you can put it in or near a window.
-
TOD:
The day I returned from a 10 day trip to Ireland/England.....I slept almost an entire day.....

Vibes for DR ELMORE & the Kitties.
-
Well, the Amazon invoices are printing. There weren't many because most of my purchases were for Fancy Feast and Meow Mix, kitty treats, and toys for them.
-
Annabelle has attacked the printer twice. Stella is staying away.
-
I love working for my London conductor and West End International. I submitted the invoice, and the money was transferred overnight. That will cover the property taxes, thank God.
-
Good morning!
-
Your dream was hilarious, DR elmore!
-
More vibes for DR elmore!
-
14 hours of sleep? I can't imagine! Usually I sleep for 3 to 4 hours and wake up. Sometimes I'm awake for about 2 hours after that.
-
Good $$ news DR ELMORE.

I would love to know where Charlene now is. When I finished grad school, she started going blind from retinitis. I remember, the year I lived in Pennsylvania, driving to Baltimore to see her while she was in treatment at Johns Hopkins. As the blindness increased and she worried more about her future, she married some oaf for security. None of us has heard from her since the mid-1970s, and the Miami alumni office has no records for her.

Good morning, all.

The first coronavirus case has been reported in Texas. It’s here in SA at Lackland.
-
I slept for 16 hours when I got to Florida last December. I was exhausted and sick.
-
TCB:
The show, again, is Agatha Christie’s MURDER ON THE NILE and it opens on April 10.
George:
I expect to see it!
Hopefully Keith & I can go with you.
-
Good organizing vibes to DR George. I know you enjoy organizing as much as I do.

This was my thought as well. But it might just make her mad that she wasted her time. I still don't get why the director didn't just say that the role was already cast. Why waste people's time.

I think most people would have the same reaction. Did you receive an explanation as to why you are seeing this particular doctor? Might it be due to your past medical history? Were you given the results of the biopsy on your appendix? This new doctor is not an oncologist so that is good.
It seems you might be dealing with unnecessary stress due to lack of information. I hope so.
Coping vibes until your appointment.

Whoever called me from the office had no answers to my questions, just told me she was scheduling an appointment with this surgeon once the scan was done.

Annabelle has a new daytime sleeping space: the interior of her carrier. I am happy that the antibiotic seems to be helping her.
-
As a director - I usually ask at the end if anyone wants to read something.....but usually it's folks who want to read for parts that are completely inappropriate for them talent-wise, age-wise, or looks wise......
-
I think ONCE I have been surprised and pleased - in 40 years - so I keep asking.....usually at general auditions, not callbacks.
If I have callbacks, I have the performer in mind for a specific part....

I suspected that. It is very frustrating when that happens.

I am stuck at home this morning while Keith is at the gym. Someone has to be here as we are having our bathroom counters, showers, and floors cleaned and re-grouted. We have travertine which stains easily. It looks much better already.
-
I now know why it takes all day. There is only one person doing the work.

That's very good news, Larry!

All the invoices I have printed are sorted and in their appropriate envelopes, and I've just converted the Amazon.co.uk invoices to dollars.

Let the tallies begin!

I just received a carton of pears and apples from Harry & David! Well, I didn't order this and there was no gift card, so I was about to go onto HHW anmd ask, who the fat hell sent this? when I looked on the top of the carton. At the top of the address label there was a note from my neighbor Roberta: Thanks for taking care of my mail.
I've been picking up her mail for the past ten days. She's back tomorrow. What a nice surprise.

That's very sweet...literally and figuratively! ;D
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep and the alarm didn't go off again, so I've got to find something new in that regard.
-
DR elmore that was nice of your neighbor.
Did the neighbor get any jobs as a result of the photos you helped her get.

That's a different neighbor, and as far as I know she hasn't had the headshots yet.

Ginny I finished "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek". I am glad I read both books on the subject. I did not prefer one over the other. I think Giver of Stars had more depth to the characters for a book discussion. I can see why Richardson was concerned about plagiarism.
I just read a comment that Moyes book "Me Before You" is basically the plot of the Bollywood film Guzaarish, which was accused of having been plagiarized from an unpublished novel.

It’s been grey and rainy all day
-
So dinner tonight was tomato soup and skillet toasted wraps
-
Vixdad hadswiss cheese deli sliced turkey breast and sliced tomato in his
-
I had Muenster, deli sliced smoked turkey breast in mine
-
I did not walk today and I feel the difference, which means I don't feel great.
-
It doesn't help that the chemicals from the last stage of the work bothered me. If only that had been done earlier in the day.
-
It definitely hit the spot
-
I am not as itchy as I was from the chemicals used today. Fortunately my lungs feel no worse than they have for the last 3 months since my cold.
DR Jennifer I expect you will appreciate that I do not have a headache.
-
Well, it's past time for me to leave work and head home ::) so I shall...head home, that is.
Be back later.
-
I am finally home. It's been a very long day.
-
After work, I went to a birthday party at a tequila bar I had never visited before. Turns out the place is in the same building and next door to the ballroom where we were having classes later. So, all I had to do was walk from the bar to the ballroom.
-
I appreciated that. I didn't have an tequila, but I did have a couple of beers.
-
Now I have to wait for three sticks of butter to reach room temperature, so I can make a couple of tarts tonight. I was voluntold to bring them to a dinner party tomorrow night that I didn't know I had been invited to.
-
It means I'll be up later than I want to be tonight.
-
But at least the recipe is easy.
-
I never eat out on Valentine's Day, so a homecooked meal will be nice, too.
-
When I can get to the party, that is. I have to usher for a Planned Parenthood event right after work. I don't know how long it will last.
-
Let's get off this page.
-
Four!

Hello, 0 guests!

I've started another 3-hour German flick again (don't they have editors there?). It's called Toni Erdmann. And it's excellent, but it's also a bit too angst-ridden. It's about a father who inserts himself into his daughter's life and business. She has devoted her life to business, and he upends everything, including doing things that embarrass her at work. I'm sure they will come to some understanding, but a movie about someone who's stressed out at work doesn't feel like an escape. So, maybe a half-hour at a time.
-
An hour later and the butter still isn't at room temperature. Oy.
-
And I'm now an hour into Toni Erdmann. It offers a great commentary on today's society and family relations.
-
Well, the tarts are finally in the oven. One blackberry, the other raspberry.
-
In 15 minutes, I can turn them off.
-
I'm listening to this collection of articles, profiles and essays that Paul Theroux has written through the years. There was a weird profile of Elizabeth Taylor during her Michael Jackson years, a nice evaluation of Georges Simenon, an offbeat take on Oliver Sacks, often in the presence of his patients. All neat stuff.
-
Well, I like to listen to my books while walking from my parking place to my desk at work. it can take sometimes 10 minutes, depending on how full the lots are.
-
This morning, the profile was of a dominatrix and it was fairly explicit. I kept turning around, thinking someone might be able to hear these details as they were spilled out in a torrent. Of course, I had earplugs in, but I didn't know if that were enough.
-
The book has finally moved on to an article about Robin Williams, who became a fast friend of Oliver Sacks after the making of Awakenings.
-
Gratuitous post No. 101!
-
Life of the party tonight.
-
And I feel fairly lifeless right now.
-
the tarts now smell good.
-
They are almost done.
-
They're out of the oven. And I'm out of time tonight.
-
Good night, all.

Back from put-in one. Glad we did this one as the gal has to really notch up her energy and find the positivity. She's doing exactly what she's seen me fight against the entire rehearsal process - playing any of this show negatively - the play has many of those potential traps and I've avoided all of them. Yes, there are super dramatic scenes that must be played with white hot intensity, but the other stuff has to have a strong, resourceful, and fun character. I couldn't actually hear a word she was saying, so that was the big note for this evening: VOCAL ENERGY!

It's the beginning of our second weekend of three.
-
It has been too many years since I had a long uninterrupted sleep to remember how many hours I slept.

Tonight, the actors hot together and just had a speed-through of just the script (no staging or costumes) to be prepared for tomorrow after the break.

I will probably follow everyone’s advice, but I prefer to do it face to face. However, the one thing the director couldn’t do is tell anyone that a role is precast. Community theaters, at least in Tacoma, do not allow precasting.

That's weird. It's not common here in Olympia theater, but it's not unheard of, nor does anyone here get upset about it as long as it's announced with the audition notices.
-
Hi, George.
-
Jane, the play is being done at the Lakewood Playhouse, which is located in Lakewood.

Well, I guess that is the difference between the cities.

That does not mean it doesn’t happen, but the policy is that it won’t happen.
-
That does not mean it doesn’t happen, but the policy is that it won’t happen.
Who made that kind of policy, and how is it enforced?
-
I would assume the Artistic Director’s of the individual theaters, which would be Chris Serface and John Munn.
