Title: EXPERIMENT THREE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes experimented with experiment three's successful experiment, and now it is time to post until the three cows come home.

I happen to know Trump loathes our site - he calls it fake notes and fake posts.

Sorry to hear about Kenny Rogers.  I still have the debut album of The First Edition signed to me by Kenny.  His then-wife Margo was Hedy La Rue in How to Succeed with me at LACC and he hung around all the time and was super nice.  And super complimentary about my songs, which he would frequently ask me to play him.

Topic of the Day:  during the day, just watching TV or working on Blu-rays, or getting carry-out food to eat, or yesterday, I actually went to work.  I don't know what I'll do today.  I haven't heard if my family is getting together for our quasi-weekly dinner.  I'll probably call my sister and find out.

Depending on how I feel when I get up, I might treat myself to Cheesecake Factory delivery - free - and get my favorite fafalle with roasted garlic or chicken or the spicy chicken dish I love.  We shall see - or that might be a better thing for Sunday.  I will say this - I'm having a LOT more variety these days - otherwise I'd just be at Jerry's Deli every day.

Today will be my first real test of the new lifestyle. I have absolutely nothing on my plate. I will likely order dinner from a restaurant, but I have no other need to go out. Sunday, church is online and then a dance lesson. Nothing the rest of the day.

I will be sending the info about our season as a letter to the editor as soon as someone tells me if the regular editor is back on staff - he had a heart attack and was gone all last summer.  His name was never removed from the masthead......so someone needs to let me know.

I have asked three people....we shall see if anyone responds.

I think that I will make some spaghetti today.....

Yesterday my niece posted on BookFace that she had some salads that had been donated to her workplace......fresh-ish.....and that everyone had taken what they wanted.....she offered some to anyone who wanted them.

I said I would take a few.....so she brought me four.  It's a nice salad with different kinds of lettuce, red & green peppers, some red sliced onions and a chicken tender....with dressing in a cup on the side.

It was good.  And I have three left....for this weekend.

So yesterday my "quick" visit to the doctor's office took almost two hours due to really long waits in between each thing. But one nice new thing was accomplished -- I finally got a pneumonia shot.

I'd made a start on that a few years ago when it consisted of two shots, but somehow or other either the doctor's office or the pharmacy or maybe even I, DR ChasSmith, dropped the ball on getting the second of the two. So they said to take the single one now and I can forget about it. It's a one time only thing. The two-shot version might still be for a younger age group, I'm not really certain how that works. But I'm happy to be covered now.

I'm sure this made interesting reading. You're all quite welcome. I mainly thought of posting it because I can feel it in my upper arm this morning. Like a flu shot, it's just a little tender.

I've only eaten at Katz's once and I look forward to my eventual return.

I agree with BK that in spite of how good it is, the pastrami must remain a close second to one's first place. In BK's case, it's Langer's. Sadly, I've never eaten there, so in my case, it's the long lost Carnegie Deli on Seventh Ave. in Manhattan.

But Katz's is a little different. In spite of being so well known, it remains a neighborhood joint and eating there is an adventure. It's off the beaten track for tourists and its main attraction for them is as a filming location, notably the "I'll have what she's having" scene.

The thing about their pastrami is that it's sliced thicker in comparison with most others. This results in a different mouth-feel from what many of us are used to. But it's all good. And those latkes look great. I want some. Right now.

But my memory agrees with BK about the pickles being a little weird. I don't know why that would be, but I recall being a little disappointed in the half sours, normally my absolute favorite.

I’m surprised somewhat and not surprised by Vixmom’s work news. People have time on their hands now, but they aren’t buying new. With the reduced prime rates people are calling us like crazy to refinance loans. We’ve had a 400% increase in that area this month.

I am not sure that is correct in this situation, but I don't know the rules in New York.  I would go to the website (if you can get on) and check the rules that have been changed for this crisis.  I know in Washington, if your business has been closed temporarily, due to corona virus, employees are eligible to apply for benefits.  It is worth checking!

Dismayed at the news of Vixmom's homeless shelter closing, I called the shelter here that I support and asked how they're doing. They said they've had minimal disruption. Their beds are normally six feet apart and they work closely with the Health Dept. They have a clinic onsite and have had the predicable shortages there, but otherwise things haven't changed much. Sadly, I expect there will soon be even more demand for their help.

Annabelle's congestion seems to have broken up.  She's still having occasional huge fits to clear her head of crap but the raspy breathing and runny nose seem to be over.  I think the Lysine is doing great.

Really glad to hear this. I was hoping you'd find a solution that you could do at home and avoid the vet visits. I hope the lysine proves to be just that.

I'd never seen such thin and lean pastrami until I saw BK's photo.

I've done almost nothing this entire past week, except for watch some (but not a lot of) TV, and burn a couple of Blu-ray disks. ::) I need to clean up during this coming week.  I have to go into work on Monday and maybe Tuesday, but I still have a lot of time off.

What a coinkydink!  My mom called me this morning, asking if I could come over and reassemble her vacuum. :o Evidently, she took some of it apart to remove stuff that got caught and she can't figure out how to put it back together.  Hopefully, I can help.

That would be wonderful. They have blocked all entrance to the main office. Even if you left something important there, you can't get back on campus right now.

Fortunately, I can still get into my building if I need to.  I will on Monday, but others will be there, too.

Update on DoorDash and the Cheesecake Factory - not happening.  No delivery times available EVER.  You go through all the trouble of filling everything out, getting the APP for your phone, choosing endless delivery times only to keep reading "not available at that time" even going five days ahead, still the same, then seeing on the APP that there are no available delivery times ever.  In other words, you can't order from there unless you want to pick it up, so why bother having the option to deliver if they can't.  So, I went directly to Stanley's website - two options there for delivery - via "ChowNow" or DoorDash.  Guess which I chose?  Placing through Chow Now it went through instantly for an ASAP delivery and according to their website that should happen within the next half hour.  No more DoorDash.

I am glad they can stay open.

Some of the clips of Harold Lloyd in the extras are hysterically funny. And often emotionally satisfying. One of my favorites is a one-reeler in which the poor Lloyd wins the girl at the end. He can't afford a ring, so he pulls out a pencil and draws one on her hand.

The difference is that our homeless shelter isn’t a full time thing run by professionals.  It is a temporary 1 night a week during the four coldest months of the year, run by volunteers and basically is a meal in the church hall after which the tables are put away, the temporary cots are pulled out and people sleep in the same hall.

No medical staff etc   In a pandemic it would be an extremely efficient way of spreading disease further

This seems to me a very reasoned article about this madness: https://medium.com/six-four-six-nine/evidence-over-hysteria-covid-19-1b767def5894 (https://medium.com/six-four-six-nine/evidence-over-hysteria-covid-19-1b767def5894)

Interesting.  When I clicked on the link, I got this kind of message:

This post is under investigation or was found in violation of the Medium Rules.

What does this mean??

 Oh no, not 410.

I know, right??

The library closure has been extended until mid-April.

At my work, the Admin and the union are going to meet on Tuesday to decide if they're going to extend our library closures past March 28.  I'm thinking it'll go longer, but will we still be able to get paid for all that time??  That's the question. :-\

I have wondered if they will be able to extend the emergency pay.  Vibes they do.

Thanks, Jane, and DITTO!!

They just called and offered me a free dessert, but I didn't want that, so instead they're giving me a small starter Caesar salad, which I love.  So, I love Stanley's.

Nice!

We have a pre-purchased credit card at Beaches.  I feel that we are helping them by not using the card right now.  I do feel bad about not tipping.

I have a gift card for Meconi's where I went on Thursday, that I got from Costco.  I didn't use it, either.  I did tipped with a $2 bill that I got from Margo. :)

Our dishwasher was delivered and installed today

My mom bought a new washer and dryer that was (almost) delivered earlier this week.  It turned out that they didn't fit in her little laundry room, so she couldn't accept the delivery.  Now, she has to get a new (and smaller) set.  At least the delivery people were able to take them away without much trouble.

As to Door Dash - I'm not sure I want to try them after the stupidity of the Cheesecake Factory thing.  But I have their APP now so, we'll see.  Definitely eating here and light tomorrow and Monday and we'll go from there.

Maybe the trouble was actually with the Cheesecake Factory

Or maybe that a lot of people are probably trying it out...and possibly a lot of the drivers might be new, too.  Just a thought.

Wow, our closest hospital is setting up triage tents for covid-19 patients.

One row of films was billed as, “Films we thought you would enjoy:”

They were all gay-themed films!  Well, I never!

Yeah, right. :))

Well, he is diabetic.  Lucky we found out before I took him to the Cheesecake Factory for dessert.

You are complaining about 176 posts??

Was I?  I think what I was doing was being amusing, like always.  We really must all keep our haineshisway.com senses of humor, really we must.

Maybe the Medium thing was fake - maybe everything being shared is fake - the very subject of today's notes.

I have got to work on my lines this week.

My vocal workshop was cancelled this week (we'll talk about next week), but I need to start learning my songs.  I have two solos and a duet, so far.  And who knows when we'll actually be able to perform, either. :-\
