Well, you've read the notes, the notes had madness and abated, and now it is time for you to post until the abated mad cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LONGEVOUS!
-
Topic of the Day: my shopping hasn't been too bad. I went out a few times last week and the only things I saw that were empty were paper towels and toilet paper. Within the next few days, I'll probably go out just to go out to see what's available...but, of course, I'll get something "necessary" so that it's a legitimate shopping trip. ;)
-
Well, I'm off to bed. I need to go to work tomorrow and hopefully finish all the invoicing and report creating that I need to do.
Have a good day, all!
-
Hello I must go to sleep
-
My days are getting reversed and I must fix this or it will be a disaster if I can go back to work
-
Which I truly hope we can
-
.....and it’s once again 4:55 am and I am awake
-
Vibes for DR JEANNE......
-
Well my brother, his wife, and I moseyed over to WalMart for the over-60 party this morning at 6 a.m.
I got my ground beef and my shredded cheese. Lots of empty shelves, and folks with carts of BIG containers of TP and PT.....
The STFH order begins tonight at midnight, but I don't think you get stopped by the police if you're out.....yet.
I didn't find any tins of biscuits or disinfectant spray....but I will survive.
-
I usually buy Conrad Birdy Barnum's seed at the Pet Supplies Plus....and I have a pitcher of it (I mix a couple of different kinds), but I thought I would get a box.
There was a man in the pet aisle riding on one of those basket carts that had a group of folks around him. He was saying there was a crazy, dangerous man loose in the store and he wanted everyone to be aware....
Then he said.....it's me! HAHAHAHAHA.....I'm dangerous.....HAHAHAHAHAHA.
-
Unnerving.
I watched NASHVILLE last night. I just have the original release DVD.....the picture quality is not so hot. I noticed when I watched the Altman interview that the clips were much better there....
I haven't listened to the commentary by Altman.....maybe another time.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I had an unnerving phone call around 8:30 last night that put me out of sorts and my nightly schedule. When I finally fell asleep, it was past 2:00am. I fed the cats and went back to bed.
-
Southwest has lowered prices, and the temptation is great. $49 to New Orleans. $99 to LA or Washington. But, no.
-
The phone call was from Lady Macbeth/ It came completely out of the blue, so unexpected that I didn't have her number in my cell phone so I did not recognize the caller. If I had, I would have never answered it.
-
I think she'd had two or three beers too many. I barely spoke, and she rambled. I miss you, thought about you today, love you . . .
-
My reaction for the most part was bullshit. The call may have lasted around 30 minutes; I was very happy when it was over. I then spent an hour or so wondering what was the reason for the call.
-
So, I forgot to take some meds last night and could not get to sleep.
-
I have no big plans for the day. I do need to deal with some book shelf issues before I end up buried under books. I did take care ofd the books on the table yesterday, so that made me happy.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Holy
sh moley, DR Elmore!
-
I have my own Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford, who is a client of Franklin Weinrib lawyer Dan Wasser, who is in the same law firm as the Lawyer for Encores, Elliot Brown.
-
Their law firm Franklin Weinrib is almost entirely a theater law firm, and the only theater connection Lady Jo Macbeth has to theater is that she's the real-life Lady Macbeth (besides trying to get me removed as executor of over $5-million openly since 2010 or so)
-
There is no logical reason that out of hundreds of law firms in NY and NJ, she is advised on removing me as executor by the same law firm as Skip's longtime collaborator Jack is in his City Center capacity.
-
I'm still flabbergasted that Jack Viertel is still making believe (and the music people seem ti be convinced or are pretending to be convinced) that I imagined the online stalking that started by City Center videographer Jonathan Frank and assisted by Jen Tepper - when he's been sent the opinion of NYS Human Rights agency that led to a Feb 2014 hearing against the only site Datalounge that would not voluntarily take down the daily onslaught
-
which included anti-semitic slurs ("Jew lawyer tax man" from the second day).
But Larry, you know me for years but keep insisting the years of cyberstalking started by a City Center videographer is imagined. But the real destruction came when Jack Viertel created this document,

Good morning.

this "show doctor" becoming a real doctor to create damage - and the POS still will not say why he did this.
https://combat-all-that-chat-bullies.blogspot.com/2018/09/open-letter-to-city-center-board-please.html
What I do know is that when I've filed against City Center just Mohave them look anti and find out why this was done and how it ended up in the files for my parents' caregivers in Florida (long before I put it online), City Center's attorney argues it's a personal matter because of the "Love, Jack." They won with the attorney general who said it's a personal matter against Jack Viertel himself. So I brought the matter against Jack Viertel, and from what I saw, a different lawyer for Jack says it's a business matter.
Everyone keeps asking me why I never filed anything in 2013 - but I sure did. It never reached being looked at, since both somehow argues successfully that it was the other. Then in Feb 2014, we had the hearing. The net cleared up a week after that hearing as was proposed at the hearing as a way to settle it, and by a month later, Skip and Jack were friends again. Somehow, I had a great tax job at that point, the best tax work I ever had since the 1980s. And my book from fall 2013 got a really great online review from one of those "Top 100" reviewers (I think BK is in that realm of Amazon reviewers these days) - at first, I thought "How nice!" - but that actually did spark sales and the book getting featured Amazon a bit more. And though audiences were mostly paper, I had a great experience at the Midtown Festival in spring 2014.
So with the quiet for close to 3 years, I went back to writing, and it was normal for all Jost three years.
Larry, this has not been going ion continuously for all these years.

Re shopping:
My DH shops like his dad -- he buys in bulk when things are on sale on Senior Wednesday. So we were pretty well stocked before this happened. I bought some things from the bulk bin before going into seclusion. We won't starve and won't need to go into a store for a while. I am cooking -- I have only once in my life ever ordered a food delivery.

At some point right after "Hamilton" opened, a parody of "Hamilton" got a nice tweet from Lin_manuel https://twitter.com/lin_manuel/status/669222699361771520?lang=en
which then led to two Times articles in 2016 where they linked the LMM tweet
And then, it started again - in fall 2016 to sporing 2017, by Jonathan frank and Jen tapper, this time menacing in the Times comments. Larry, it is not an age-old thing, The issue is that it re-started and it would not stop.
Then, incredibly,Julie did what she did, a false violence claim, which is so far beyond anything but mired jack's claim in May 2013, saying that during "Viva Max" rehearsals she wanted to cll the police but didn't ask fir help despite seven people in the room. After the successful Viva Max reading, and then after Skip's feb 2018 show at 54 Below, Julie issued a 7-page lawyer letter with detailed claims that could not have happened. It was at the right of MeToo just starting and the mood was always to believe the woman. This will be the subject of the upcoming "My Dead Aunt Thanks You."
But that was also by Encores' very same law firm Franklin Weinrib, also incredibly Lady Joann Macbeth of Cranford NJ's law firm.
Agatha Christie's head could explode from such coincidences. If anyone knows Jessica Fletcher, please check if she's OK! Ira Levin sent notes from the beyond: "this is too complex even for me. Who would do something this involved, for control of a measly $5.2-million estate."
But theater people never do anything without lots of drama. In the old Brooklyn, Bugsy would have just beaten the executor up until he voluntarily signed over the $5.2-million.

We went to Wal-Mart yesterday at about 2 o'clock.
There weren't many people there.
Of course, a lot of shelves were empty.

Fred, you have to get past this and get over it. This constant brooding, endless repetitive emails, and postings is an continuous irritation to a lot of people who do not even know you yet you've added them to your long chain of email recipients. People ask you to remove them from your address list and you do not. I found three emails this morning, too many yesterday including one from an agent telling you to cease and desist and one from Chase Brock asking you to remove his name. Since you insist on bringing this to HHW, them I will post this here: take me off your address list. If you want to self-destruct, I don't want to know.
-
I have no wish to pick a fight, no wish to be involved in this vast conspiracy. I want you to remove me from your email recipients. Please!
-
I had a doozy of a dream last night. I had a phone conversation with my dead friend Dale Kugel, former librarian for Tams-Witmark. only in the dream I was aware I was talking to a dead man about finding a new restaurant for the monthly music librarians dinners we used to have with librarian friends from Music Theatre International, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and Chelsea Music Service. Two friends and I on our lunch hour - I cannot remember who they were or where we worked together - had found an Irish restaurant we liked. The waitresses played piano and harmonica and sang Irish songs.
-
DR ELMORE did you ask him if I get a refund on my ANYTHING GOES royalties if we don't get to do the show this summer?
-
The phone call was from Lady Macbeth/ It came completely out of the blue, so unexpected that I didn't have her number in my cell phone so I did not recognize the caller. If I had, I would have never answered it.
I suspected your brother, not his wife :o
-
DR ELMORE did you ask him if I get a refund on my ANYTHING GOES royalties if we don't get to do the show this summer?
Damn! I forgot. Sorry.
-
My reaction for the most part was bullshit. The call may have lasted around 30 minutes; I was very happy when it was over. I then spent an hour or so wondering what was the reason for the call.
Yet you let her ramble. I think that was nice of you.

Since you insist on continuing this on HHW, them I will post this here: take me off your address list. If you want to self-destruct, I don't want to know.
Larry, then you;re not reading the emails anyway, so why are they bothering you. the only people who can logically be bothered are people who don't want the information out there. Anyone is free to respond that it's not true.
Anyone is free to block me. Arlene Shuler blocked me for at least year, then suddenly unblocked soon after the proof came that Joann Landau and Encores were using the same law firm, and that Jack's emails from May 2013 and Jan. 2019 had somehow gotten into the files of my parents' caregivers for the Holocaust survivor group in Florida.
-
Chase Brock is on the list because of "Be More Chill," when several of the people involved (like Maureen, who is on the board at Two River Theater which co-produced the show win Broadway) - why are you saying to many people that I put him on the list as Rob Berman's spouse? That's just not correct.
There was in fact an email exchange (though very vague) between me and Chase a few months ago. he said nothing abut removing him from the list.
Everyone who asked me privately to remove them was honored right away.
I do not owe being respectful or friendly to anyone who makes a public show of asking to be removed, because that is a hostile action to do that publicly. What can the intent of that other than to belittle me or express hostility?
if you can tell me how asking publicly or to the whole group is anything but hostile, I'm all ears.
-
Larry, if there's nothing to the claim - fine, then let it be adjudicated. There's no doubt that Jack lied like a rug, no doubt that it caused millions in damage. Let the facts be heard. If there's a reason for what he did, say what that reason nis, first in May 2013 then compounding it in Jan. 2019.
Datalounge tried at first to argue jusridiction of the NYS Human Rights agency, but that failed for them. There were two charges, both of which their owner fought aggressively, because Datalounge's site depends on not having to police posts, like Twitter was back then. They wrote string legal arguments. One of them was found in their favor, so that was knocked out. The other was found in my favor, the opinion was issued Dev 2013, the hearing in the Bronx held Feb. 2014. They (their lawyer) questioned the damages that were being asked , but sounded like they weren't questioning that what they did was not legal (civilly), because the dec,. 2013 opinion had convinced them of that it seemed.
I offered how about cleaning off the site of anything that referred to me by name. The state agency person asked me on the side privately if that would be enough and no need for money. I said yes. Within a week, they had issued a new policy and anything that was showing up on google when employers or clients looked me up searching my name - was gone.,
I have no idea why the hearing was in the Bronx when both parties were in Manhattan. But it looked done. and it was for almost three years.

Eerie coincidence. I had Zabar's Kugel yesterday. It was wonderful.

Why am I complaining? Because, Fred, I am sick of getting them. I have no wish to be involved and I - like most of your recipients - do not want to find them in my email from whichever address you decide to use that day. I am completely sick of this.
-
I have no wish to pick a fight, no wish to be involved in this vast conspiracy. I want you to remove me from your email recipients. Please!
Larry, you made a huge public show of asking, never asked privately, even saying as had ling been proven otherwise that the wrongs were in my imagination. What do I owe you when you disparaged me in public, claiming that what was a proven fact was all in my head - both here and on castrecl? And then to the entire group when you were just a cc?
In this case, I put you back on at one point because your name was mentioned in a few emails as someone right there at Encores who knew me and my reputation well prior to March 2013 when Jack got Encores involved during "Superman" which Jack wrote the new book for - and it's just etiquette that since you were mentioned and quoted, that you be cc'd.
Sometimes mistakes are made, and a wrong list used. Since there are matters relating to Joann Landau, that's a separate list, though we see they have the same lawyer and Jack's frauds are in the Florida caregivers' files and they;ve been relied on to give my brother first call on medical matters, where he is just in over his head and his philosophy about medical spending
is appalling.
But how did Jack's saying Freddie doesnt know what's talking about and should be locked up against his will wind up in the files giving my brother first say?
-
Chase Brock is on the list because of "Be More Chill," when several of the people involved (like Maureen, who is on the board at Two River Theater which co-produced the show win Broadway) - why are you saying to many people that I put him on the list as Rob Berman's spouse? That's just not correct.
Well, I can't fathom the depths of your thinking processes. The rambling, repetitious emails are all over the place.
-
my brother was noit approving a doctor my mom asked to see, because insurance said no. a woman whomknws she had millions at the last accounting is being told she can;t write a check to a doctor for $250 when insurance denies it?
But no one can figure out how he got first say. Or why what Jack said and write to my husband in May 2013 and Jan 2019 is even in the file!!!! except that the same lawyer handles both encores and Joann Landau. and must have placed something from one matter into the other.
-
If it's fact, it's not "conspiracy theory."
-
Okay, Fred. You win. I'm wrong. You are not suffering what I believe may be some form of delusional paranoia. Jack Viertel did not offer years ago to pay for your seeing a shrink. Jonathan Frank did not begin this mess by criticizing your parodies. You did not drive David Winkworth off HHW by an earlier form of this mental state.
I apologize to all the Dear Readers for enabling you to continue this rant on HHW.
-
Also as to reputation - You can see clearly how I was regarded even by Sondheim and his publishers just three months BEFORE Jack started.

Dear Fred Landau -
The person you should ask permission of is Sean Patrick Flahaven at Warner/Chappell. His email is, not surprisingly, seanpatrick.flahaven@warnerchappell.com.
Your lyric is fun, although you had the same trouble with the last stanza that I did.
Yours,
Stephen Sondheim

Dear Fred Landau -
My apologies for not having replied sooner, but I've been away. Anyhow, I think your parody is fizzy and funny and fine (except for the "prefer/defer" identity), so you have my permission to use it on YouTube, but first you have to get permission from John Breglio. I'm sending him a copy of this reply. If you haven't heard back form him within a week, let me know.

Hi Fred,
Ah—I thought your name looked familiar. The different context and my sleep deprivation (our second son was born May 7; we also have a 2-year-old) made me forget temporarily.
Alli and I love Bill and Maureen, of course, and I do remember LAST STARFIGHTER.
I’ll try to get this done quickly.
Best,
Sean

Hi Fred,
Sorry for the delay. Steve has approved leaving the ALNM clips up as well as the “Chrysanthemum Tea” request.
Thanks,
Sean
You can see how disparagingly and really just disdainfully I'm treated by Sondheim's lawyer now, actually claiming I am imagining the excellent working relationship with Sondheim and the publishers back when, and making believevthose were never pre-approved.

Dear Mr. Landau,
Apologies for not having responded to your emails sooner than today.
I did not have anything to do with any ‘copyright claim slapped on’ to your posts. Those would have come directly from the music publishers, who routinely police infringements of Mr. Sondheim’s works online.
I am unaware of any pre-approvals given to earlier videos by Sean Flahaven (who hasn’t worked at WarnerChappell for over two years) or Arminda Trevino (who also left two years ago) at Carlin America (which no longer exists). I can only say that none were ever presented to me by either company during the past 11 years that I have been involved in Mr. Sondheim’s matters, and they would have been submitted for authorization by both publishers in the ordinary course of events.
I have taken a look at the materials you submitted on January 22nd and do not believe they fall within the parody ‘fair use’ defense to copyright infringement under relevant case law.
Given the Broadway production of Company that is currently in rehearsal, in addition to the other revivals of Mr. Sondheim’s shows happening on Broadway and the West End in the coming year, we would prefer not to draw the spotlight away from them and so must respectfully decline your request to approve your arrangements and altered lyrics for performance and distribution on YouTube or other online channels, by CD or other recordings, or in any other media, and ask that you refrain from posting them as unauthorized infringements.
With best wishes,
Rick Pappas

Also: Closer to our world together, Larry -
You can see how I was regarded by the sites theater people frequent, like this example - castrecl even months before what Jack did, this in Dec. 2012 from Warren. Very soon after what Jack did, I started getting treated very poorly by castrecl, one time because of a complaint by you, Larry.

Hi Fred
Thrilled to see the "Cast Recording Lis"t made into your lyrics!
Happy New Year!
Warren
-
Lynne Heinemann used to link the parody lyrics all the time when the Times highlighted them before 2013.
Never again after may 2013. I had immediately become persona non. grata, getting warnings from Max and Warren.
This was part of what I was building as a career, Larry. I have no clue why this was being disrupted.
-
Can I get us to page 3?
-
I'm also not sure why you object to anything being bought up here either. This is an important part of my life. Everyone wants more pages on HHW, and it allows me to get my thoughts out.
my posts on HHW don't reflect on you, on BK, in the site, or anyone, do they?
But my posts on castrecl don't reflect on you either. And you've complained to Warren there, and the power you have there made them make new rules about what's off topic, even out me in delayed monitoring for severalmoinths. This after the clear enjoyment they had of what I did in Dev. 2012 as I showed you above.
Why can't anyone who is not being written about just not read it?
-
Again: A private email from you would have been good, and reflected concern. I always listen, and play attention - but not obeying doesn't mean not listening. = instead of the public disparagement done first by Chase yesterday and then by you.
And I emphasize ; After all we have been through over the years, how "there" we'd been for each other - what you did yesterday was just a shocker and hurtful.
.A criminal complaint was filed against Jen Tepper, even though a misdemeanor not a felony, and I publicized it then, because Jen for months would not deny its truth. She had her lawyer retaliate the next day, by. shutting off my twitter and it remained shut off for five months.
Tom Viertel threatened libel in Jan, 2019 if I could not prove what I said about her. I sent in the evidence. I never heard from Tom Viertel again after he got the evidence, not a word, and the one year statute for. libel is gone. The Times saw the proof because I ccd the comment people, who've come to know me over the years and the times had even commissioned me to write a parody working with an editor (not much fay but the check cleared) - and started allowing specific mention of her human rights retaliation in their comments area once they had the evidence. They also feel now that the fact that I've been on a blacklist since complaining about Jen Tepper's human rights in a criminal complaint.
That certainly is not old - the statute is still very much open - I'd never been blacklisted before March 2018. It has been made explicit in an email by Tom Viertel and in a lengthy email written by that Encores lawyer.
-
I didn't make it to page 3. if we need more posts later today, I'm here sheltering in place or isolating or whatever.
As they say - I;m here all week.
-
Jack Viertel insisted in an email to Skipthat I'm not blacklisted. But when I asked Yom to confirmed Jack was correct, he would not. The theater is the last place where blacklisting is allowed , it seems, or at least the producers think so :)
Fake liberals!!!

Oh, there is a page 3!

I wish I knew where the hell I put that DVD of Nashville! It's in none of its usual places. Maybe I lent it to Joshie?

A light just went on!
DR Elmore, my Criterion is from their short-lived dual format period, with Blu-ray *and* DVD in the box. If you don't find yours, I could pop the DVD into the mail to you.
(EDIT: I would, of course, also be willing to drive it down, if we were living in better times...)
What's more, if my Windows laptop were working, I'd -ahem- have the means of making a copy of it for you.
(sssh, don't tell anybody)

If this evening is as clear as I believe it's going to be, it's going to be Nashville night in these parts.

DR Elmore, I had a vague recollection of you sending me something related to Nashville , so I looked on our DVD shelves - twice - and didn’t find it. Then I checked our audio CD shelves and found that you’d sent the soundtrack. Thank you for that and I hope you find your DVD.

I just looked at my aol: What lawyer told me to cease and desist yesterday?
Larry, if you're talking about Lily Houghton's agent. Rachel - is that what you thought was a lawyer sending a cease and desist?
-
McNally died in my old hometown of Sarasota.
-
Incredible that this came so fast, being caused by the virus.
Even though he obviously had huge respiratory issues already. Too sad.
-
When McNally's comedy The Ritz opened in Jan. 1975, I flew to New York very early in the run because I wanted to be sure I caught it in case it closed. I saw a Saturday matinee with the original Broadway cast, and it remains one of the funniest farces I have ever seen. The casting was perfect, and Rita Moreno was even more brilliant. The movie is funny but not as brilliant as the play.

I had my first bad delivery from Amazon, a 5-lb bag of Meow Mix dry cat food. The bag was punctured and the shipping dept. had wrapped it in a plastic bag before putting it into a carton. This should never have been sent to anyone and I am not happy about it. However, since I know things are panicky at the moment, I'm not going to insist on returning it. I'll put it out for the birds and that should last for several weeks.
-
I have never received my 2020 census mail.
-
Birds eating cat food - what a world....what a world.
-
FJL, with all due respect, please do this via e-mail. This is not the place and certainly this is not the time. Thanks!
-
I'm up, I'm up - got up at one - nine and a half hours of sleep, which, right now, is worse than getting under eight. Must start setting the alarm.
-
Went to the mail place - mail hadn't even arrived but there was a package from yesterday.
-
I've had no mail since last week and today my postbox was crammed. I got my 2020 census mail, so I can take care of that tomorrow.,
-
Birds eating cat food - what a world....what a world.
That's what comes of men and women dancing.

And Joshie has my Blu-ray of Nashville.

My reaction for the most part was bullshit. The call may have lasted around 30 minutes; I was very happy when it was over. I then spent an hour or so wondering what was the reason for the call.
Yet you let her ramble. I think that was nice of you.
My responses to everything were terse and not friendly.
-
And Joshie has my Blu-ray of Nashville.
Glad you found it! Looking forward to my viewing tonight!
-
Well, I'm off to bed. I need to go to work tomorrow and hopefully finish all the invoicing and report creating that I need to do.
Have a good day, all!
I'm at work and decided to take a little break from invoicing. :) Otherwise, it's going well.

Found :)

I figured that much, but you did not hang up on her.

Good friends just called for a 4 way conversation. It was fun. Now they have set up for video chat next time.
-
Whoa.
RIP Terrence McNally
The cause of death was complications due to coronavirus; McNally was a lung cancer survivor who lived with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 81.
:'( And just yesterday, I listened to several versions of "Back to Before" from Ragtime, for which he wrote the book.

Those are so sweet!! ;D
-
I have worked on a couple of McNally plays even out here in the hinterlands.
I've seen a couple, but never worked on or acted in any. :-\
-
A big project was due today. Everything was going smoothly. Now it’s not. I don’t know whether to laugh or log off for the day.
-
I think Ragtime and Spider Woman are the only two shows of McNally’s that I’ve seen. I loved his book for Spider Woman. It was better than the movie, more cynical, more believable and, in the end, more touching. I haven’t read the book yet.
-
I’ve read Ragtime the novel maybe six times. It’s one of my favorites. McNally’s libretto was good. The score was great.
-
I would like to see The Rink, which may be my favorite Kander and Ebb score. I hear the book for that is really bad, though. Really, really bad.
-
I do like my PTSD musicals, though.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!

Of course not. Let the old drunk ramble. She's up to something and I'm safer knowing what it is. You don't call and tell me you love and miss me after a lapse of 13 years when your last words were I deserved to inherit nothing from my father and It'll be a cold day in hell [before I forgive you for forcing us to repay your dad's loan to the estate].

I saw the original productions of The Lisbon Traviata, Love! Valour! and Compassion!, and The Ritz, and a regional production of Master Class.
-
I’ve played Ragtime and Spider Woman and love them both dearly. And I’ve seen regional productions of The Rink, Love! Valour! and Master Class.
I haven’t seen those others, but would love to.

Ate two helpings of the tuna pasta salad, read more Woody, and now will take a little break.

Richard Lester's movie of The Ritz is good and it preserves Rita Moreno's performance and much of the Broadway cast.

We went out to drop some mail at the post office and to do a curbside pick-up at Kroger
-
While I put the groceries away, Richard went to The Jug, a local burger jernt, for our carry-out dinner.

And I’ve received email notification that the American Library Association Annual Conference has been cancelled for the first time since 1945 :'(
-
:( Where was it going to be this year?
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Given how some people's days have been going, plus the pandemic, I do have the impression that Mercury or Jupiter or someone is waaayyyy out of whack.
-
Jrand, any insights on this?
-
:( Where was it going to be this year?
Chicago. We had plans to go to Rob and Mary Linda’s, visit the new baby, and leave our car there while we stayed downtown for the conference.

A double disappointment. I do hope we can go to Chicago by June and meet our not so new baby. I am guessing they have room in their home for you to stay with them. Unfortunately Bryan & Kate don't have room for us to comfortably stay with them.

Yesterday I spoke to one of the supervisors at my osteopath's office to try to work out something in lieu of the much-needed office visit that they cancelled. She promised to contact my doctor and arrange a phone visit, then email me to confirm. The second one didn't happen, nor I suspect the first.
I received a call this morning from an admin person at that office, again cancelling my appointment, but giving me completely different information from yesterday. I know things are changing daily, but I suspect that this is more a matter of management not keeping everyone up to speed. This office has a history of not returning promised phone calls and emails and not being up to speed on what is happening -- pre-Covid. So you can imagine what a disorganized, not-completely-committed, poorly managed office is like in a crisis.
I emailed my doctor privately, bringing him up to speed, and requested a phone visit. It won't take the place of a much-needed in-person visit, but we may be able to get the blood work done and monitor an existing condition.

One of the things that irks me is that I know that senior management is very well paid, while they seem to hire the cheapest nurses they can find. The quality of the nurses there is a joke among the doctors.
-
TOD:
I find that I must now go to several stores to obtain what I could get before from one. I plan to go to Ralph's tomorrow. If they have toilet paper I'll grab some. But I'm not counting on it.
The closing of the salad bar was a real loss. It was easy to buy small quantities of many things.
-
Some people have been speculating that Gelson's has more on the shelves than other stores because their prices are higher. I don't know if that's true, but I wouldn't be surprised.
-
Vaccine trials have begun in Wuhan. Dr Fauci has said that a vaccine is about a year and a half off, but the results of the trials in China will be most interesting.

Picked up dinner tonight. It appears to be an entire chicken fried, a huge salad, mac and cheese, stewed green beans and a six-pack of their homebrewed beer.

Very bad indeed.

I've seen a number of articles about what to read while in lockdown and what to stream. But I find I have less free time than usual. Shopping, whether online or in-store takes more time, and I feel quite addicted to the news. I'll mention, too, that I'm very interested in the posts of other DRs and how the lockdown is treating you. So a Thank You to HHW.
-
I felt so sorry for these people, many of whom are friends. Philippe said they had to lay off 90, while Alison, the chef’s wife, says work continues unabated on the new place they have under construction. Apparently construction is deemed essential.
-
I was going to go to Costco tomorrow but I have enough chicken for days.

No, Jane. The Ralph's near me seems quite medieval--no early hours, no curbside pick-up, no nuttin'. But, in truth, I'd have to be very, very motivated indeed to go shopping at 6 am. This Ralph's is seldom crowded on weekdays, however. With so many people home that may change, but I don't expect a crowd.
-
:( At least construction continues.

That sounds like quite a lot of food. Is this a place you've been to before? Is it a package deal?
-
Started watching Terry Gilliam’s The Brothers Grimm, which has a plague story in it. How appropriate.
-
:( At least construction continues.
Construction appears to be deemed an essential activity, which is a bit surprising to me, at least from a health standpoint. If construction is OK, then why not drive-in theaters?

I have been there before, but I haven’t been in a while. They specialize in Texas coastal fare and their beers. This is the first time I’ve had the fried chicken.

Once things settle down I'd like to see a Support Small Business campaign, especially for restaurants.
-
TTFN.
-
Prices are a bit higher, as always, but believe me, before a few days ago they had NOTHING on their shelves, just like other markets. And during panic and hysteria, panic and hysteria TRUMP money. See what I did there.

Finished a movie. May watch another in a bit. Of course, snoozed for about twenty minutes first.

I don't know why drive-in theaters are not ok. Maybe they fear people will get out of their cars.
Constructions seems necessary to me. Imagine if your house is torn up and you can't leave it. Getting it back together sooner than later is best. Outdoor construction let for too long might be an issue.
-
Well, I'm done with work and I got everything done (for the most part) that I needed to do. I forgot about some other invoices, but they can actually wait...the vendors have no choice, now. ::) Anyway, I'm heading home.
Be back later.

I just cleaned up the sound a bit and put up this demo that has Maureen Silliman, Andy Umberger, Janie Smulyan and Ed Romanoff.
Plaisir d'Amour - one act musical by Terrence McNally & Skip Kennon - just audio
This demo. is the Triangle Theater cast. (seen in Summer Shorts festival 2008 at 59E59)

There's a lot to like in The Brothers Grimm, but there's also a lot that's surprisingly offensive in ways that the Brothers Grimm were not. This one ain't for the kids.
-
Larry, just wondering - why have you been so intent in trying to keep the facts from being heard?
Why did you get Warren and Max to torture their rules to keep the subject off castrecl?
Do you really believe they wouldn't have sued for defamation by now if it weren't true?
Jack and the Encores attorney just seems unable to process that when you leave someone with nothing tom lose, they really have tithing to lose. AS time goes on, more and more of this pattern comes up of human rights violations and the complainer never being heard from in NY again.
-
1 - The articles looking back by Frankel office years later say they'd always wanted Jerry Zaks for “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” but that Jerry Zaks doesn’t like doing early development, he needs to see the work on its feet before he’s willing to get involved. Somehow, word after the Chicago tryout run got around that Otis Sallid wasn’t delivering, rumors of substance issues, issues which never seemed to be mentioned in his very extensive non-theater career. (I saw the backers audition in NYC before Chicago; I'd invested based on that.). Mr. Sallid got credit, moved on, did the Oscars and many jibs soon after. Mr. Sallid never did Broadway after that.
http://www.playbill.com/article/stagestruck-by-peter-filichia-smokey-is-still-smoking-com-71234
"You see, Jerry doesn't like to get involved with the early development of shows. He wants a script… Once he saw it on its feet in Chicago, he came interested and had ideas."
Note also, Otis Sallid was completely erased from his conception credit for the 2018 revival, while of course the two white men, Jack Viertel and Steve Helpoer, still have their credits.
-
The Ashman estate insisted on Connie Grappo for “LIttle Shop” on Broadway before they'd agree to giving the rights; the NY Times says they always wanted Jerry Zaks, then the terms and conditions for Connie Grappo's road to NYC somehow changed per the Times article. (That was a feel by the interviews by Times article writer Robin Pogrebin of: Hmm, they wanted Mr. Zaks, could only get the rights with Ms. Grappo, somehow they ended up with Mr. Zaks. )
https://www.nytimes.com/2003/10/20/theater/the-show-that-ate-the-original-cast.html
“So when the trustees of the Ashman estate agreed to a ''Little Shop'' revival, it was on the condition that Connie Grappo would direct ,,, The producers had wanted Mr. Zaks to direct but yielded to Mr. Ashman's trustees…
''The Florida production, we always understood, was going to be a developing production -- the producers talked about it as that,'' she said. ‘ Ms. Grappo, as it happens, never did Broadway after that, though doing other non-theater work per her site that sounds exciting.

Scott Davenport Richards, who understood bias, also son of the great Lloyd Richards, is said to have objected strongly to the show that had his score including a carol with “Fa-ra-ra-ra” instead of “Fa-la-la-la.” Nothing in the online news, but “Fa-ra-ra-ra” stayed, brought in Pasek & Paul.
https://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/06/theater/a-christmas-story-the-musical-aims-to-become-a-franchise.html
It looks per the Times article like Mr. Paul also saw the "fa ra ra ra" scene was "definitely offensive" but could accept that it was needed.
But one relatively brief scene that has stayed is causing a little hand-wringing. ... A group of waiters serenades the family with a thickly-accented rendition of “Deck the Halls.” The scene, which drew one of the biggest laughs at the performance here, was a “source of tension” during rehearsals, said Mr. Richards, who was let go after the show’s Kansas City run. “I had a very strong feeling that I didn’t want an Asian kid taken to a musical and saying to his parents, ‘Why are they making fun of us?’ ” he said.
Mr. Goehring called Mr. Richards a “great artist” with a “huge future” and chalked up his departure to artistic differences. .... Mr. Paul said that as much as he found the restaurant scene “definitely offensive,” it was a crucial part of the experience.
Indications now are Pasek & Paul might have already been the songwriters when Jack Viertel was named Creative Consultant of "A Christmas Story," and that Scott Davenport Richards and Jack Viertel have no known bad feelings about each other. So this may be a situation where - odd as it sounds - Jack Viertel was brought on possibly even after Broadway and the 2012 production that got the major Tony nominations? Jack recommended it (it appears just as a fan?) in Nov 2012 when it was on Broadway and that production got its Tony nominations for Best Musical, Book and Score.
-
Jack & co. feel a triple-threat dynamo Ms. Umphress whose weight never hurt her career has been badly mistreated by Laura Collins Hughes' review of "Smokey Joe" revival. (Of course, had it been a "critics pick" review, this would not have been re-tweeted by anyone, incl Jack, let alone been responded to by major figures like Jack O'Brien.) The gist of retweets: Female critics should never say a negative word about women. Constructive only. (Weight is a women's issue somehow?). Also, it's the same female critic as with Jack and Encores' "Big River" Feb. 2017.
Remembering this from Feb 2017. Try to imagine the Encores producer, whose work on the “Big River” production the female critic praised, writing and creating a stir like this in public about a male critic to that male critic's paper, about the male's qualifications:
http://www.playbill.com/article/ny-times-responds-to-producers-complaint-about-big-river-review
If 2017 is too far back, this from summer 2018. (Same Encores producer is main creator of this "Smokey Joe's Cafe," it happens.) Try to imagine a show's publicity department having someone go on TV saying a male critic must be ”constructive” about what he felt needed fixing, and giving non-specific alternate wording he should have used.
https://pix11.com/2018/07/25/broadway-actress-fires-back-after-ny-times-critic-appears-to-body-shame-her/
The wonderful Ms. Umphress, never held back because of anything career-wise: “the wording wasn’t constructive. It was full on mean girl.” “They could’ve just said the costuming was uneven”. “Coming from another woman I just think it’s her responsibility to stick up for other women. I hope she could man up – no, I hope she could woman up!”
-
the public shaming to actor Joel Vig from "Hairspray," who had the nerve to want to come back to his job after surgery from an onstage accident. The case law reads like Shylock and the merchant, just instead of wanting to kill the merchant, they killed the actor's NYC career, and with the legal costs spent more than a decent settlement would have cost, and using the "Hairspray" investors' money. And they made Joel Vig, their victim, look like a bully for getting upset, by having Laura Green be the "heavy" in behalf of management! After eight or so years, when it's clear the facts look horrible for what they did, they pull out a statute of limitations technicality.
-
He may not be a racist or a sexist or an anti-any human rights-ist, but that's the effect whenever he's on the show - the complainer always is never heard from again if they claim a human rights claim sin a Viertel show.
He does it like breathing.
-
FJL, I asked nicely - please have enough respect to honor my wishes. Thanks.
-
BK< I;m closing my HHW account. Take care.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, apologies for this stuff. I didn't know how to ask more nicely than I did. It's been going on for too long, we've all seen the endless posts about it, I've allowed the posts to stay up, but now is not the time for this - we've all got enough to worry about. Hopefully, FJL will come back when he works this out with himself. At this point, it's counterproductive and not what this board is about. Let us continue on with good humor, positivity, and getting through this wacky time we're in. I adore you all and as you know, very protective of everyone here.
-
I tried to watch The Agony and the Ecstasy Blu-ray, but it was too much agony without enough ecstasy. Then I watched about a half hour of Grand Prix. What a weird movie. I like some of it, but the writing is just awful. Good cast, though.
-
I think I'm too antsy to sit on the couch like so much fish, so I'll read more Woody and try not to eat every single thing in the house.

DR George this might be of interest to you.
Star Trek: Picard" is warping toward an epic season one finale on Thursday (March 26) and if you're in the U.S. and not watching yet, series star Sir Patrick Stewart wants you to "make it so."
On Twitter today, Stewart announced that Trek fans in the United States can now watch "Star Trek: Picard" for free on CBS All Access using the code "GIFT." The code is valid through April 23, so you'll have to act soon to binge the series.
CBS All Access is a subscription service that starts at $5.99 a month. In addition to the free "Picard" episodes, you can try CBS All Access for a week free here.
-
Sad to say we don't think it is worth the price and stopped watching.

Halfway through the Woody book - really glad he wrote this because not only is it funny and self-deprecating, he sets many things right that have been mis-reported over the years.

I was exhausted when I went to bed. Maybe it was a carb overload. Now I’m wide-eyed. Finished a Zora Neale Hurston short story that put me to sleep earlier.

Short stories should be read in one sitting, if possible.

I don’t mean to sound political, but has Trump lost his mind? Last week he actually started to sound like he got it. Then suddenly, today he decides that everything will taken care by Easter Sunday, and all will be fine.

Hi, John. Those beans sound good.
They were the one dish I finished. I have maybe six pieces of chicken left.
