Well, you've read the notes, the notes were self-isloating and certainly self-serving, and now it is time for you to post until the self-serving cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CORDIAL!
-
Thanks for the link to In My Mind's Eye, BK!
-
Well, for lunch today, I'm going to the local Eagan's. A friend of mine works there and she said that they need to close after today until further notice. :( Even before Governor Inslee announced that his stay-at-home order might possibly be extended for businesses (https://www.theolympian.com/news/politics-government/article241527356.html), the owner couldn't afford to pay everyone with the downturn in business and stay safe. He has some underlying health issues that make him susceptible to the virus, so he can't really work very much right now. My friend really hopes that she's able to make it until everything's back up and running. :-\

~~~COPING AND FINANCIAL VIBES FOR EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE!!~~~
-
Well, it's time for me to head to bed. I set my computer to burn a Blu-ray of a play. It's going to be a birthday present for my niece, so that's my Topic of the Day. Today, I'll go to Eagan's for lunch, and that's the only plan that I have to go outside. Otherwise, I need to do some laundry and some cleaning...lots and lots of cleaning, but I haven't started any of it. ::)
;D
-
Good night and have a good day, all!
-
Bed? We don't need no stinking bed.
-
I did the latest security and Safari updates and while that was taking its sweet time, I took a long shower. Now we're back and to prove it we're here.
-
~~~COPING AND FINANCIAL VIBES FOR EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE!!~~~
DITTO!
-
Jane's up.
-
I'm up.
-
Someone on Facebook is bored and asked the question: What are some fun things you might do while stuck at home. I responded thusly: "I might impregnate myself."
-
And I might.
-
Who's gonna stop me?
-
Nothing can stop me now.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It took forever to get to sleep last night. When the alarm rang at 6:00, I reset it for 7:00.
-
The cats are fed, I'm thinking about breakfast and thinking I need a corner bodega walk.
-
I had a nice call with Joshie yesterday afternoon. We discussed possible projects.
-
DR TCB, how is Nicky doing?
-
Good morning, all.
-
~~~COPING AND FINANCIAL VIBES FOR EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE!!~~~
DITTO!
I couldn’t say it any better.
-
I hope to be able yo watch the show this weekend. Thanks for posting it.
-
Time for kitty cleanup. My schedule is off this morning. I've already made the bed.
-
Temperatures are heading to 64 today.
-
Great pair of clips to listen to, George. Sounds like Dorothy liked Ben’s songs.
-
Temperatures are heading to 64 today.
We’re headed to 88.
-
Good morning about to head out to work
-
Where I am isolated on my side of the building
-
Have a safe day, DR vixmom!
Page 2 Dance!
-
Kitty cleanup is over. I'm thinking about breakfast.
-
Sootka!
-
We had a cordial phone for many years until they switched it to a push button one.
-
I have bookmarked the play to watch at a later time. Thanks to MR BK.
-
Vibes for DR cillaliz and her mom......
-
We now have 645 cases of the COVID-19 virus in Indiana.
-
Warm weather and thunderstorms for today and tomorrow....all day and all night.
-
There was an earthquake on The Good Doctor on Monday night, that seems to have just happened in one building in the city where a party was going on. A few of the doctors were there.
As it progressed, I kept thinking....what is this - Grey's Anatomy? I turned it off when the doctors started crawling through the rubble....or maybe it was a cooling vent.....
-
I so not know how long this will be available: The NBC broadcast of The Skin of Our Teeth with Helen Hayes, Mary Martin, George Abbott, Heller Halliday, Don Mureray and Florence Reed recreatng her role from the original 1942 production.
-
T.O.D.
Lots of stuff recorded from HBO, ShowTime, etal.
Not sure what I will watch this weekend.
-
Waiting from some proofs to arrive early next week.
Until then...???
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Thanks to BK for the video. I'll watch it later when I'm comfortably ensconced in the recliner.
-
Speaking of which, I just went to the notes and had to refresh them to get today's. That's from the MacBook. From the iPad, which is where I almost always read them these days, they're behaving fine. Just a data point.
-
Thanks, too, to DR Elmore for the Thornton Wilder.
-
I had to refresh the notes on my tablet. I will try to remember to check my computer.
-
Thanks DR ELMORE that looks good!
-
The Indiana State Dept of Health has revised its numbers to 981 cases and 24 deaths state wide.
-
Friday afternoon greetings! We are definitely on Plan B today - we both slept late and I'm just now getting ready to take a shower. I even have a day off in the kitchen because our dear niece Jennifer texted last night offering to bring us dinner from somewhere near her workplace. So, tonight we're having fish sandwich combos from Frisch's and will wave to her through the front storm door. She will leave our dinner on the table on the porch.
-
My goal for today is to finish reading The Education of an Idealist by Samantha Power.
-
PBS.org supposedly has posted its Terrence McNally documentary.
-
TOD:
I’m thinking I’ll watch some Marcel Pagnol, either the Fanny trilogy or Jean de Florette/Manon of the Springs. And maybe some more W.C. Fields.
-
I had to refresh the notes using my computer.
-
I read What Rose Forgot by Nevada Barr & was completely distracted from the virus :)
-
Back home for lunch
-
The boss offered to buy from a Dominican place down the road but I a, not a fan of cuisine and I have been avoiding eating food not prepared by moi
-
Keith agrees with you on take out or delivery. We have been making our own meals which is fine. A pizza would be nice.
-
I love the cat in this video! She reminds me of Annabelle.
Good morning.
-
Page 3 Dance!
-
I am making bread.
-
My husband has informed me that his supply of chocolate is gone. So later I will make some brownies.
-
A local gourmet food provider for restaurants has opened up to the public with home delivery. I ordered quite a few things, and I hit the chips area. I was psyched to see Mediterranean seasoned chips. Then I saw black truffle chip, Iberian ham chips and foie gras chips. I ordered a bag of each.
-
Oink.
-
The good thing about having to refresh the notes is that it makes them refreshing.
-
I suppose I'm up. I was up at seven after three hours of sleep, approved the galley, which they assure me will all be centered properly, then around nine-thirty I went back to bed and slept until noon o'clock, so I guess I got five and a half hours of sleep, although it doesn't feel like it. The Instacart Gelson's order arrived. They kept changing the delivery time to later and later - originally scheduled between eleven and noon, but it arrived five minutes before noon and is what woke me up. Which means I am now woke. Several substitutions in the frozen dinners, all of which were fine, and I guess there's been a run on my favorite jam because that had a substitution. A little surprising as I thought I was the only human who ever bought the specific one I like, which is Bonnie Maman Cherry Preserves. Who knew? Got a few more Chapsticks - was down to my final one and I always like to have several in waiting. A little package of Gallo salami and provolone cheese, snack-size. Some more chicken filets, which I put in the freezer, and that was pretty much it, I think.
-
I want some cherry preserves. And cherry pie. And cherry ice cream. Now. I even used cherry extract in my oatmeal fir breakfast.
-
About to have an English muffin with the last of the cherry preserves.
-
I want some cherry preserves. And cherry pie. And cherry ice cream. Now. I even used cherry extract in my oatmeal fir breakfast.
Best cherry preserves:
-
That's the one!
-
Just finished off the jar. They did a replacement - a different kind of cherry something - jelly probably - but same brand.
-
Since I have those chicken filets left from yesterday, I'm thinking I'll sauté them and make a nice sandwich with onions, a tiny bit of mayo, and pickles. Like a Popeye's fried chicken sandwich but not fried. Why not? Can't do pasta today, so I'll do this and then later I can have a frozen something or other.
-
What I really need is to go sit in a restaurant, but that isn't happening, is it?
-
Listening to the John Williams/Anne-Sophie Mutter CD - it's got way too much of his newer stuff and not enough of his earlier stuff.
-
I will probably have a frozen dinner for....uh.....dinner.....while DR JOHN G enjoys his chips.
-
Tomorrow I shall cook some pork chops and potatoes.......with maybe a side of peas.....
-
My husband has informed me that his supply of chocolate is gone. So later I will make some brownies.
It is good you have baking chocolate.
-
Oink.
Usually I forget to refresh them and realize I have read them already. This morning I realized I never read them yesterday ;D I have a good excuse, my eyes that hurt :(
-
Eating my chicken sandwich - merely okay.
-
But a nice change from heavy pasta.
-
What is this page three malarky?
-
Keith made a supermarket run this morning at 7:15am while I slept. He said the scene inside the store was surreal.. Masks, gloves, no eye contact ... and lots of personal space. Keith, just his bag and a sanitizing wipe.
-
That's the one!
The very best!
-
Since I didn't know he was going he didn't know to get me more eye drops, and forgot to get Ester-C.
-
Keith made a supermarket run this morning at 7:15am while I slept. He said the scene inside the store was surreal.. Masks, gloves, no eye contact ... and lots of personal space. Keith, just his bag and a sanitizing wipe.
Yep, no eye contact is gonna keep everyone from getting this. As I said, morons with masks.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Where is everyone? Watching In My Mind's Eye?
-
Four!
-
Everyone is on page four!
-
Listening to Street Scene. Anyone have a favorite recording of this? I’m listening to the English National Opera version that supposedly has Catherine Zeta-Jones in it.
-
I like the John Mauceri Street Scene.
-
Listening to the last two acts of Polypheme by Jean Cras - I love the writing. You can find the entire opera on YouTube.
-
Page four? Really?
-
;D
I get the idea of wearing a mask, but no eye contact or smiles.
-
We had a light rain while we walked this morning which kept away the fair weather folks.
-
Listening to Street Scene. Anyone have a favorite recording of this? I’m listening to the English National Opera version that supposedly has Catherine Zeta-Jones in it.
I love this recording. The Brits' New Yaak accents are all over the place but I really like it. Catherine Zeta Jones does the "Moon Faced Starry Eyed" song and jitterbug.
-
On the warm days we were surprised to see children using the playground equipment at the park. Today no children, and there was yellow "keep out" tape around the equipment.
-
I did my market run specifically for a dozen eggs. After I paid for my purchases with my debit card I realized I forgot the eggs. I paid cash for them.
-
I've never heard the Mauceri recording, but after working with the pompous ass, I can't say I'm fond of Dame John.
Love that song.
I like the sound of the original Broadway, but it’s far from complete. I like the voices on this, so far. I don’t think I have ever listened to it before. But it’s well worth the $2 I paid for it.
-
I have Mauceri’s recording also. It’s a sickness, I guess.
-
If you can find a DVD of the 1979 or 1980 broadcast from NY City Opera, get it. It was a fantastic production.
-
And conducted by Mauceri, as I recall.
-
Been involved with a project that was supposed to launch this morning. It still hasn’t. People are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Since I can’t do anything to help, I’ve been monitoring everything from the sidelines, which is only a little less frustrating than it is for the key player.
I seem to recall watching that. I would have been in high school then and we read the original play then.
-
Maybe pbs.org is offering it.
-
Yes, Mauceri is a piece of work, but the Street Scene recording is very good - some of his more lauded CDs are, for my money, not so hot.
-
Maybe pbs.org is offering it.
It would be a bootleg DVD.
-
Yep!
https://www.premiereoperaintl.com/dvd6174streetscene.aspx
-
Our county just went from 19 confirmed cases to 48. That probably doesn't seem like many to those of you in L.A. or NYC.
-
The ENO production is on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HC5GDSJ6jTw
I loved their version of Moon-faced, Starry-eyed on the disc.
-
I also love the recordings of Italy in Technicolor on both Lost in Boston II and Bagley's disc.
Speaking of morons in masks - saw that my Pepcid from Amazon was delivered, so drove to the mail place. There were a couple of folks standing outside the door but inside there was only one person, so in I went, as always, and tell them there's a package for me, as I didn't bring in the key to my box. So, one of the guys on the sidewalk, loaded with packages to ship (who ARE these people) and yes, wearing a face mask, barrels up to the counter and turns to me and starts berating me about coming in and that the line to get in is outside now. How we're supposed to know that is anyone's guess, and he says, you can't just walk in here to ship stuff before us. I held up my hands and said, do you see me shipping anything? I, unlike you, pay a lot of money to have a box here and let me tell you how I'm coming directly in to get its contents, including packages. He apologized and I was handed two packages and just wanted out of there. It wasn't until I'd driven away that I realized he hadn't given me the Amazon package at all - just two other little things of no importance. So, now, oh joy, I get to go back there tomorrow to get what I should have and would have gotten today if it wasn't for the masked avenger.
I knew as soon as you said there were people outside and only 1 person inside. Haven't you been reading the rules ;D
-
I would have asked if there was a separate line for pick up.
-
In the 99-year history of See's Candy they have had only one interruption in making candy, and that was during WWII due to rationing. Recently they closed all the stores and were only selling online.
Today I received a notice they have temporarily suspended operations. Refunds will be made on orders not shipped yet.
:(
-
I did not have an order but was contemplating placing one. I wanted my coffee candies.
-
I spoke to them on the phone. They HATE these people - all of them are returning Amazon packages, so not a penny goes to the UPS Store. I suggested they put up a sign saying box holders come right in, or making a separate lane for us. I will not stand in line outside, because I pay for a service as do all box holders. It would be one thing if they were actually shipping packages, but every single person was returning Amazon shit, which begs the question why the HELL or what the HELL are they ordering and not keeping? It's infuriating.
They definitely need a separate line for box holders. So far I have been able to avoid purchasing anything that might need to be returned.
-
A few minutes ago I placed an order with Amazon prime for eye drops I need by the end of the month. The Prime delivery says April 4th with a warning deliveries have been delayed.
-
Starting to watch Marius, the first of Pagnol’s Marseille trilogy or the Fanny trilogy. Amazing restoration. Crisp, clean images and legible subtitles. Even the sound is improved.
-
Keith ordered something on the 25th that arrived today. We could have waited longer for the order.
-
I ordered another item today that is scheduled to be delivered on the 30th. I am not in a rush for this item either.
-
Yes, I ordered something via Prime - three weeks to get here. I'm going to call Amazon at some point, because I've already been charged and that is NOT supposed to happen until the thing actually ships. I'm also going to suggest that if this is now the new normal for Prime that they give everyone a free year.
-
Amazon got my bird food to me in three days. JB was happy. So was I.
-
JB's food was an important delivery. Maybe it was given priority. I think eye drops for dry eyes are important.
-
Alvin Ailey was supposed to come to the Tobin Center next month. Well, that ain't happening, but I can still watch Revelations.
https://www.playbill.com/article/alvin-ailey-launches-online-streaming-series-with-screening-of-revelations
-
Finished with my viewing - I think.
-
I think, therefore I am.
Therefore, I think I am.
Apparently an ER doctor in town had a COVID-19 party with a great many people invited, a sort of raspberry or FU to the disease. I would not be surprised if he's fired.
-
Hello, everyone. Which, at the moment, seems to just be John G.
Hello, John G!
-
I've been watching THE ENGLISH GAME, written by Julian Fellowes. I'd not heard of it before tonight. It's on Netflix. It's pretty good, class warfare on the football field.
-
Last week I placed an Amazon Prime order for some cleaning products, a supplement, and a novel. The delivery time for the supplement and cleaning products was quoted as four days, but the novel as a month off. They had said they'd be giving priority to essential items, but perhaps they changed their mind as all of the items arrived today. Did they suddenly realize how important fiction is in my life? I read, therefore I am.
-
Good night.
-
Hi, Cillaliz.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good evening. Had a pretty good day. I did make a shopping run. Went to Petco and bought a couple weeks worth of the cats' food. Their food is sometimes hard to find, so I stocked up a little more than I would have. It used to be cheaper on Amazon, but now is cheaper at the local store.
I then drove by one grocery where the parking lot was totally full and went to my fav grocery which had many fewer cars. It was nice inside. Lots of people in gloves, but I didn't see any masks. They were out of toilet paper and cleaning supplies and paper towels were being rationed, but other than that the shelves were pretty full and they had a ton of young employees stocking shelves. Of course I saw a box of the cats' food and bought that. They will be fine for at least a couple months, lol. I got the usual milk, bread etc. I'm trying to only go to the grocery once a week
-
Hi, Cillaliz.
Hi John!
-
I was able to get an extension on an appeal brief, so I can actually breathe this weekend. I can't remember the last time I really just took time and relaxed. I'm sure I'll do a little work here and there, since the office is here now, but the pressure of getting the appeal brief filed right away is gone Whew!
-
Haven't listened to anything in particular. I'm watching Cold Cases on Netflix. Bus driver holiday....I think that's the expression
-
Amazon got my bird food to me in three days. JB was happy. So was I.
Glad JB's food came so quickly. The wild birds outside have been giving me the evil eye from the empty feeder, so I bought bird seed today too
Well, better sign off.....Night all
-
Listening to music and feeling quite disgusting. I tried a Stouffer's meat loaf frozen thing - it was really rank, but I ate it because I felt I should. Now I just feel nauseous and disgusted and wish they'd given me the damn package with the Pepcid. I only have one left here.
-
Page five? Where is the late-night contingent? We know they're home.
Hi BK
Page 6!
At long last, page six.
We now have 645 cases of the COVID-19 virus in Indiana.
As of 3:30 p.m. today, Washington state has a total of 3723 cases and 175 deaths (https://www.doh.wa.gov/emergencies/coronavirus).
In Clark County where Jane and Keith now live, there are 76 confirmed cases and 6 deaths.
A very nice obituary. I guess it didn’t even occur to me that your sister had a husband and children. Again, my condolences.
