Well, you've read the notes, the notes were all right, and now it is time for you to post until the all right cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MAVERICK!
-
George, I was surprised at the gigs and have no idea why it's that much. Do you have a way of getting it down to 120 or even lower? Then I could post it. But I tried YouTube as a test and it read out as too big at 160. If you have a way, I could send you the Dropbox link via e-mail. I have no idea how to do it.
-
Well, in Quick Time it has the option to export as 720p so I'm trying that, but that's going to take forty-five minutes to an hour so how much smaller will it be. I could go down to standard def but what's the point of THAT.

Hopefully, that will work. Maybe by converting it to a different file format that doesn't use as much data, like going from MPEG2 to MPEG4 would work. I have a program that can do that.
-
I loved the song in your notes, BK. Perfect song for now.
-
I've already ordered the Chinese food for two-thirty in the afternoon from Green Apple Bistro, which I've enjoyed a few times. Grubhub for this one. Got orange chicken (asked for extra crispy and hopefully it will be because I can't eat it if it's not) and then chicken lo mein, the small size of each.
-
Upload should be done in ten minutes or so, then I can see what's what. If that doesn't work, then I'll link George to the original large file in Dropbox and see if he can do something with it. I also want to make sure the quality isn't lesser.
-
I do notice that it's a .mov file, so maybe that's why, but I wouldn't know how to change that.

My program (VideoReDo) can convert files between more than a couple dozen file formats.
-
Well, that's fascinating - it's now 720p and 5 gigs. It makes me think I should do it at 1080 now and see if doing it via Quick Time lowers the gigs which it probably will. I'm trying, but at least I can now upload to YouTube and they have a new kind of private called "unlisted" and I give out that link to everyone but it doesn't show up in searches.

Cool.
-
Uploading that one now - about an hour it says, maybe less. It says forty-five minutes now. I hope that one comes out at around 50GB although the 720 looks great.
-
Finished with the David Diamond symphonies - most are very enjoyable. Now doing the Walter Piston symphonies, which are kind of similar - not a ton of melody but very tonal and American-sounding. When I'm done with Piston it's on to William Schuman, although not all his are on YouTube. I'm not a fan of the Gerard Schwarz recordings of these, but thankfully YouTube has classic first versions conducted by Bernstein, Ormandy, and Koussevitsky - great conductors all, with great bands.
-
Guess I'll take a shower while this upload continues.
-
I just realized that my back door is still open! :o
-
...and that's not a euphemism.
;)
-
Back door is closed, and my evening meds have finally been taken. I forgot that, too.
-
Eleven minutes.
-
Six minutes.
-
Two minutes and we'll know the 1080 story.
-
Well, from 160GB to 8GB. I think we're good.
-

That's great!
-
Well, I need to get some sleep. I actually have to take part in a virtual meeting for my work, but at least I have a laptop from work, so it has the specific program that I need to participate. I just don't know what time it starts, but I was told that it'll be in the afternoon, so I won't have to get up too early.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well until around 4:00am, when my legs really began to bother me. The cats roused me arounbd 6:0-0 and I decided it was time to start moving.
-
This morning I must hop a bus and find a grocery.
-
I must spend some time today converting those all-caps Babes In Toyland lyrics to standard form. I'd like to get through Act Two today. I also need to dig through the storage boxes to locate my photocopies of the existing librettos.
-
...and that's not a euphemism.
;)
Thank God!

Is anyone watching this PBS series World On Fire?

I’m listening to a German radio concert of Kurt Weill and Friends on Broadway. All of the narration ist auf Deutsch and the announcers are occasionally having problems with the English titles. One was “Gays and Dolls,” which is a wholly different musical.

Good morning!

Good morning, all.

Good to hear the song again.

It’s an understatement to say I wish both ladies had more film credits. I mean more of the substantial ones. I love ‘em all and will happily ride along with everyone else’s favorites. Just please add MURDER BY DEATH to Elsa’s list, if I didn’t miss seeing it already.
-
Looking through her credits, I see Elsa costarring in THE JOHN FORSYTHE SHOW (1965-1966?) which is one I don’t even remember.

Her role in Mary Poppins is so small you miss her if you blink.
-
I am back from market. Key Foods is only allowing a certain number of people at a time and they give you ten minutes to get in and get out. I got all I needed and hobbled out to the street to catch a taxi home. I lost my balance and nearly fell, but i didn't. I would have ended up in a puddle. It took a while to find a cab, but I got home and Jeff, the super, helped me into the building.

Oh, I blinked. Trust me on that. I think I remember knowing about this, but now I’ll have to see it again.

Lots of astrological events today.....including a super full moon...and a Mars-Uranus square.
Finding balance—especially in terms of your close personal relationships—is the focus of today’s super full Libra moon. You’re uber conscious of the choices you’ve made that have led you here, and you can use that awareness to reach incredible clarity.
A revolutionary Mars-Uranus square occurs today as well, giving us all the urge to break free from whatever restrictions we feel we’ve been under. This rebellious streak helps create dynamic relationship breakthroughs and really boosts our independent selves, but it’s also important to be aware that unexpected events could get in the way of your forward progress.

Surprisingly, I've been able to keep busy during these difficult days.
I finished re-formatting the 4 older books that I am switching over to Amazon, and they are now available for purchase there...at a lower price than before.
I'm working with 2 voice actors on audio editions of 2 plays in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS Collection.
I just got a proof to correct of 1 or 2 books that BearManor will be releasing this year.
And, when all that is done, I have a new play in THE HOLLYWOOD LEGENDS series that I want to start writing.
-
DR George, YAY for all of your packages arriving.

No. Is it good?

I had my appointment for communion this morning. Seven of us in masks spread around a few pews. No music. No bulletin. No sermon. Tape on the floor marked the appropriate distance to keep from each other. Plastic, disposable cups held the bread and wine. Somehow there was a spirit of togetherness.

BK: Nice song in the notes!

This sounds like the safest possible way to do this.

I just unpacked all of the individual WetOnes I had packed for our trip to Chicago. We use them on the plane & wipe down the hotel rooms.

Today’s Weill includes The Firebrand of Florence and the Maria Friedman Lady in the Dark. The singers on both could be better.
-
A few fires this morning but less this afternoon. Yay.
-

The Firebrand of Florence recording casting is terrible and the score is so good. One man's death is another man's living.

I do like George Dvorsky. But he doesn’t have enough to do.
-
What do you know of the label Capreccio? It was the same that released Weill’s Lindberghflug and Tge Tsar Gets His Photograph Taken.
-
Well, it took a while to locate the Babes In Toyland scripts. There are two stacks of storage boxes, each stack about six boxes high, and of course they were in the bottom storage carton in the second stack. I also had to move books,, souvenir programs, playbills, and the cartons of things going to Miami University to reach the two big stacks.

Completely miscast. The role was created by Melville Cooper, and should have been cast by a comic actor of indeterminate age who's good at playing foggy old men, like Paul Ford or BK.

I’ve gone from bad to worse. Probably the worst recording of all, the OBC of LoveMusik.

I know next to nothing. I believe they committed to recording all of Weill's stage scores. I love their Happy End recording and the Mahagonny isn't bad, although I prefer Lenya's recording for Columbia.

You know what's really funny about that show? Tunick orchestrated it and he detests Weill's orchestrations.

I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.

Food will be here in ninety minutes. I'm hoping it's prepared the way I asked - extra crispy for the orange chicken, because I finally remembered that I got takeout from this place a few months ago and asked for extra crispy and it was not only NOT that, it was mooshy and inedible. We shall see, but in the instructions on Grubhub I put that it was VERY important.
-
Question: I'm uploading it to YouTube - very slow going - ninety more minutes - but is Vimeo a better option? They only allow 5GB but I now have that version, too.
-
I don’t know Vimeo.
-
The second I posted about this on Facebook that I was gonna put up something I directed privately for two days, one Equity-zealot gal I work with contacted me immediately and said Equity was making great deals for streaming stuff and I had to contact them if there were any Equity actors in it. I took down the post and said I was not about to go through Equity. First off, our leading man was paid a huge amount of money for the taping, paid personally by Larry Cohen and we didn't go through Equity to do that and the leading man could get in trouble. So, trying to do something nice and positive naturally isn't working. So, I'll only make it available here and it cannot be shared with anyone and I know you folks will honor that.
-
Having watched some of it again, I forgot how really beautiful the production was. And I have to say that the direction is pretty good :)
-
I have, just for grins, dropped Equity a line - no mentions of what the show is or who the actor is - just to see what they're doing over there.
-
I already heard back - they don't know WHAT they're doing with my kind of request so they're looking at all this and will get back to me.
-

Sad to admit, but I know very little about Babes in Toyland. That will be rectified.
In the meantime, when my friend recently unloaded those scores & etc., this was there so I grabbed it.
I love where he bought it. :)
-
Sorry, that thing is huge on my screen, and I've reduced it three times.
Which you can tell by the fuzzy resolution.

Raining again.
-
Food was okay, but I'm done with this place. The orange chicken was semi-crispy so that was okay but some actual flavor might have been nice. The lo mein with chicken was meh.
-
I gave half of it to the fellow in the back house.

I was talking with Mom on the phone when the phone decided to update. And I haven't been able to call her back yet.

Strange. It was charging when that happened. But I've never had it drop a call.

Tuesday evening greetings! It’s been another quiet day here. I finished reading The Guest Book by Sarah Blake for next week’s discussion, probably on Google Hangouts.
-
Ginny, I started The Bookwoman book that you recommended. I'm not far enough in to have formed an opinion, but I'll continue on.
-
The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek is the full title, if I remember correctly. And it's set in Kentucky.
-
Gratuitous post No. 100!

I was sent 3 Blu-Rays to review today:
SUPERNATURAL with Carole Lombard and Randolph Scott
WOMAN TIMES SEVEN with Shirley MacLaine
LOVE AMONG THE RUINS with Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier.
Something to keep me busy.

Did you like it? I read the blurb and am not sure I would want to read it right now, but then I am having trouble staying with the books I am reading. I have begun 3 books. I am trying to finish the 3rd one. I thought it was a mystery. It is but it has rats and experiments on them. I think the bad guys are creating a pandemic in a lab ::) I don't need this now ;D Oh, and the main character is an ER doctor. If the plague erupts in her hospital I am closing the book ;D

I like one of those films DR DRUXY.

Good vibes for MR BK for his week of excitement and thrills....I think that's what he wrote in the notes.
The song was much appreciated.

I have made an appt. to go INSIDE the bank tomorrow to conduct some business. We shall see how THAT goes.
-
I think sometimes organizations like Equity have snoopers on the internet whose job it is would be getting into everyone's business and making things much harder than they actually have to be.
God forbid that they actually DO SOMETHING to help someone.....

DR GEORGE struck a package bonanza......I am expecting ONE package.....but I reckon it's not coming today.

DR Jrand69, it seems to me like you’re already going to be dressed for a good old fashioned holdup. Why waste the opportunity?
-
I went on a walk for 30 minutes. It was wonderful. The sun came out, the temperature hopped up in the 80s, and all was nice. No groups of people, only a few doing yard work.
This is all strange. It was supposed to have been in the 60s with our sixth day straight of thunderstorms.
Tomorrow was supposed to have had a high in the 50s. It's now set to be 91.
-
I then spent a half hour cleaning out the refrigerator in the garage. I haven't done this in quite some time. I found some surprises, but thankfully no bad food. A lot of beer I didn't know I had.
-
Well, I think you know how to properly dispose of that.
-
I'm now watching the beginning of Much Ado About Nothing. I may turn that off in a bit, though, to watch a link I just received.
-
Well, I think you know how to properly dispose of that.
Yes. If I set my mind to it.

It was OK, but not the greatest. It’s a multigenerational family saga that’s not linear. Sometimes it’s 1936, sometimes 1959, and sometimes present day, and it skips around. I figured out a big plot twist long before it was revealed in the story.

Bananas are.
Correct. Bananas are not essential, except as bird food.
-
Greetings! It was a lovely 80 degrees here today. So, my work sort of went out the window. The high tomorrow is 59 and overcast, so I can work then
-
We don't have a stay at home order here and our governor isn't going to do one. Almost anywhere you would want to go is closed and it's recommended you stay home.
I went to the grocery store today. I only saw two people in masks and one was stocking shelves. Very few people wore gloves, only a few employees. But we only have 9 cases in our county of about 100,000 people. In my mom's county they still don't have a case. I'm hoping we did enough to not have it really bad, but only time will tell.
-
Everyone was outside today, walking around and visiting. The visiting was done from a distance, but it feels so neighborly again. I took the plastic off the gazebo windows and put out my tacky lawn ornaments as well as the lions that sit by my entrance. I even swept out the side of the garage I park on. Wow, that looks better
-
The insurance co is going to cut me a check whether I take my car to a body shop or not. So, I'm going to get the $69 kit and give it a go. It can't be any harder to do than refinishing furniture is and I can do that. I had a couple neighbors look at it and they both agreed that it's just the paint. I really don't have anything to lose. If I mess it up, I can take it to the body shop.
-
I made shake and bake pork chops tonight. I love those.
-
a have a nephew who is a funeral director in Chicago. He's going to NYC...maybe today...to assist. So sad, they need more help because too many bodies. You never hear about the funeral directors out there on the front line. These days they probably have a lot more contact with the families. I don't envy him. He's getting great benefits and extra pay for it, but still.

Oh wow, just read that you have to have your temp taken to enter the courthouse. They've had it closed to the public for a few weeks and entry with an appointment only. This is ramping up
-
Wow, indeed, Cillaliz.
-
Six!

Better get some work done. I can finish that brief if I just do it. Very happy to have work right now.......
-
I need bananas, cookies, and wine.....but I am afraid I could not convince anyone that any of those things were essential.....
Bananas are.
Correct. Bananas are not essential, except as bird food.
;D

We don't have a stay at home order here and our governor isn't going to do one. Almost anywhere you would want to go is closed and it's recommended you stay home.
I went to the grocery store today. I only saw two people in masks and one was stocking shelves. Very few people wore gloves, only a few employees. But we only have 9 cases in our county of about 100,000 people. In my mom's county they still don't have a case. I'm hoping we did enough to not have it really bad, but only time will tell.
Good vibes the numbers go down instead of up.

Good luck!
-
a have a nephew who is a funeral director in Chicago. He's going to NYC...maybe today...to assist. So sad, they need more help because too many bodies. You never hear about the funeral directors out there on the front line. These days they probably have a lot more contact with the families. I don't envy him. He's getting great benefits and extra pay for it, but still.
So sad and very brave of him. When he returns home I fear it will be worse in Chicago. I hope not.

I watched about 3 or 4 you tube videos and will watch a few more. It's kind of a challenge, something I haven't thought of doing. I sanded it a bit tonight to stop it from peeling more. It seems to have worked. I'll order the kit tomorrow. I want to watch a couple more videos to make sure I'm getting all the right stuff. It's a plastic bumper so a bit different than metal

DR George being somewhat disappointed we had stopped watching PICARD. Now that CBS has it for free we returned and completed the series. I am pleased to tell you we very much enjoyed the last 4 episodes.

Yeah. I messaged him tonight but they may be on the road, they had to take a couple carts with them, so I guess they are road tripping in a couple hearses. There has to be a bit of humor here. Can you imagine waking up and seeing a couple hearses parked outside your hotel room? I don't know if they are making a stop, but that would make me jump

Oh yeah, I as going to work on my brief....bye

John Prine has died.

Nice photo, Cillaliz.

Thanks for the update, Jane. My sister is going to try with the free month.

I would have if I had the equipment to do it.

You can't record CBS All Access. It's only streaming online. I could use her login info. We've done that before.

John Prine has died.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

They have now made masks mandatory in LA thanks to our panic-fueling idiot mayor. For shopping or stores - NOT for outdoors. Starting Friday.

Nice photo, Cillaliz.
Agreed!
Thanks

BK LOVE your video on Facebook. I think I've played it 4 or 5 times already. I tagged Samantha, she'll love it. Remember Samantha, my niece who went to NYC with me? She's doing great. She's a married mom of 4 now. Three boys and a girl. She married well and she's a real spitfire.

I don't know a lot of John Prine's music, but his song Paradise is as much a part of my Kentucky soul as the grass, the bourbon and the horses:
Daddy, won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County,
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay?
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking.
Mr. Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away.
-
John Denver did a lot of his songs as did Bonnie Raitt
-
I saw him in Sioux City back in 2011. It was a very enjoyable evening
-
"Samantha Van Oort: Ahh! Bruce! Just beautiful! 💕 " This was Samantha's comment on the link I shared to Bruce's Facebook Everything is Gonna Be All Right. I think since I shared it it won't show up on your page, Bruce
-
Seven!
-
Bruce, I think your glasses look good
-
Of course I remember Samantha! For all, if you don't know what Cillaliz is talking about, I recorded me at the piano singing the song that's in today's notes. Karen Staitman asked me to and I've never done anything like that before so I did - and in glasses yet - those "new" glasses I haven't worn once since getting them six months ago.
-
And everyone should run to Facebook and take a listen!

I just did! It's really good!

So yesterday, my sister gave me some face masks to use and to give to my parents, but some of them turned out to be the N95 type of masks. I don't know when or where she got them, though. Today, I just came across this article and forwarded it to her: Thurston County Accepting Unused Protective Equipment for COVID-19 First Responders (http://www.yelmonline.com/community/article_f7e73794-7921-11ea-9b7d-5fdce5b4a2e7.html).
-
My mom (a retired nurse) said that she would donate the ones I brought over to my parents' house yesterday.
-
I have now finished watching act one of the show! It's really good and quite enjoyable, so far. I wonder how it's all going to turn out!
-
But now since it's intermission, I need to get something to eat and feed my cat. :)
-
I just found my copy of BK's Rare Tracks CD. Just in time, plus a few weeks.
-
I also found my recording of Alfred Drake singing Weill's Down in the Valley, which I will listen to tomorrow.
-
I need to get to bed.
-
Good night, all.
-
But now since it's intermission, I need to get something to eat and feed my cat. :)
Well, that turned into an extra long intermission! ;)
-
And now for act two!

Do you have a mask?
-
A friend & neighbor gave us a couple of masks. They are too small for Keith so I will wear them. I wiped the outside of the mask with a wipe as we left the store, before I took it off.

I do not have a mask and I am not buying a mask. They are NOT necessary in your motor car, they are not necessary when you're walking in your neighborhood. This is for markets and stores. If I must go to the mail place I'll have a t-shirt with me I can put over my mouth, but sorry, I'm claustrophobic and will not be wearing mask or any covering for more time than it takes me to pick up packages, i.e. about fifteen seconds. What's next, a full-on hazmat suit? The stories keep changing and it just feeds on itself because - wait for it - nobody knows anything and the make it up as they go. I'm sure we'll have more new stories, memes, rules, etc. I haven't done a damn thing to endanger anyone, nor has anyone done a damn thing to endanger ME.
-
Now I understand your biggest complaint about the mask. You are lucky if you can avoid markets.
Blame all the rude people who have not properly social distanced for the need to wear a mask.
-
I watched a motion picture - a 70s TV movie - now listening to the last of the Walter Piston symphonies. And then on to the William Schuman symphonies, which start with his third, as he withdrew the first two.
-
Bruce are you 6 feet away when you collect your mail?
-
Yes.
-
😊
-
Walking around the market, even with people doing their best, a 6 foot distance is difficult to maintain.
-
It's easy at Gelson's at six. There were maybe fifteen people in the market. In and out quickly with my stash of Diet Coke and a few other items like tuna, proper elbow macaroni so I can make tuna pasta salad that's edible, bagels, microwave bacon, some Mexican cheese blend for the tortillas, Lean Cuisine pizza bread and a few other things.
-
Listening to William Schuman's symphonies - like Piston they're tonal but sans much melody and a bit clangy every now and then, but with some very beautiful sections, like the one that's playing now - the second movement of his 4th symphony, which is just haunting and lovely and could have been used to score any number of movies.

All day I thought this was Sunday.
-
But it couldn’t be, because today is not Easter.
-
Eight!
-
I think I am getting sick. Hopefully it is just a cold.
-
One more day to get through before Nick’s appointment.
-
I must take my meds!

Good night!
