Battery vibes for MR BK.

I thought you got a new battery not too long ago - or was that the other car?

If it was THIS car, maybe there is a warranty.....my battery warranty is good for a 5-year replacement if it goes bad.

I saw that BJ's gas price was $1.84 yesterday. What did I report a week or so ago, $1.70-something? So it's just about up to what I paid for my March 19th fill, of which I still have a quarter of a tank. And we thought that was low. Now it seems a little high!  :)

I filled up the tank yesterday at the same price as last week $2.09 per gallon.....I paid for $20, but $15 filled it up....so I chose a scratch off ticket.....

And it was worth $5.

Just so you know:

You know what you want to say, but your words keep getting twisted. Or maybe you’re having a hard time getting the words to come out at all. Welcome to Mercury retrograde in emotional water sign Cancer, one of the hardest times to communicate what’s on your mind and, more importantly, what’s in your heart.

Sentimental memories are quite vivid now, especially regarding past loves. You know you can’t travel back in time, but that doesn’t stop you from trying by looking at old pictures, listening to “your song,” and digging up anything that holds even a speck of romantic nostalgia.

Because letting go isn’t your strength today, it’s the perfect time to try to figure out who you might have been in a past life and how that’s affecting you in your current lifetime.

Well, not gonna be here at eleven - while I was doing a phone update they called and said they didn't have the battery in stock.  That's because the gal called the same person as last night and I'd told her already those folks didn't have it.  So, now they have to do what they should have done originally - call around and find it and THEN send someone - so I didn't have to get up when I got up and I'm sure they'll now tell me it will be after noon IF they find the battery.  The problem, of course, is that many stupid people in LA never bothered to start their cars during the stay at home, so there were a lot of dead batteries and probably a run on them now that they can drive places.  They should be calling back shortly.

Title: Re: THE TELLER OF TALES
Post by: bk on June 17, 2020, 11:06:53 AM
Well, this has turned into a really stupid thing. No AAA stores have the battery nor can they guarantee when they'll get it, since shipments are slow.  Their alternative plan is to tow my car to someplace I find that has the battery, where it will not only most likely cost me more money AND labor, but will also probably not come with a proper warranty.  I did find a place - where I had the engine replaced and they said if I tow it there they can find the battery and have it done in an hour.  My concern is they can't quote the price till they have the car and I'm not comfortable bringing it there to find out that it's so much money that I don't want to do it.
Title: Re: THE TELLER OF TALES
Post by: bk on June 17, 2020, 11:07:34 AM
Bottom line is - not gonna do it.  Which means, I cannot go anywhere until AAA gets the battery, which could be DAYS.

So, the siding man was over to talk paint colors. He brought the two I had mentioned, and of course, they looked nothing like they did on the computer. Instead of gray with a blue undertone, they were green with a gray undertone.

Post by: ChasSmith on June 17, 2020, 11:16:21 AM
Ever since I had a battery cable problem due to a guy at an auto supplies store installing it wrong, I've only purchased my batteries at a dealer, or at a Firestone or Sears type of store where they at least know what they're doing on stuff like that. In all cases, though, I was able to drive the car so I didn't need AAA.

I'm glad you are safe at home while you wait for the battery, BK. A couple years ago, I was ready to leave the church when one of our members who was probably 93 (she's 100 now) had a dead battery. In Phoenix. In July. It was probably 115 degrees. I waited with her inside until AAA came. She's actually lucky I was still there.

I have had to wait on the side of the freeway for a tow when I had a tire blow out. That was scary.

No, it can't all be done online...that's just propaganda!  There are services that our library provides that also can't be easily done online.  We're a library that serves mostly rural, mostly low income patrons, so not everyone here even has access to the Internet, let alone high speed Internet.  We WILL eventually open back up to public browsing and access. :-\

Perhaps tomorrow will be battery day - shipment expected, I talked directly to the folks who came last night and they "say" they'll call me when the shipment arrives around one and then I'll call AAA and get them to schedule it.  Really irritating.  And they said it's exactly what I suspected - idiots not starting their cars for weeks and then creating a run on batteries.

I am dying for my library to re-open (I mean curbside pickup).  Still nothing. But hopefully soon.

Chapters book store opened this week.  And other libraries have opened for pickup.

Amazing so many people didn't drive at all, not even to pick up a few supplies.

I know!  Or even just start it up and run it for a few minutes.

I have friends on FB saying the home page has been changed.  Some like it, so far most don't.  The biggest complainer about it is my friend who can't find the option to change it back to the original look.  What is very odd is that others have easily been able to change it.

So far I still have the old home page.

Mine changed a couple of months ago. Or I changed it when I was given the option. I like the way it is now.

That was a long time ago.  I wonder if I just ignored an option to change it.

Amazing so many people didn't drive at all, not even to pick up a few supplies.

And the wrong people are driving. I had green lights today and was going straight when an oil truck decided to turn into my lane. I laid on the horn, but the truck just kept coming. Thankfully no one was in the lane to my left and I was able to avoid him.

Thank you for the vibes the doctor says it’s nothing to worry about , apparently I damaged the area somehow and it’s broken capillaries under the skin that I am seeing.  Odd since it doesn’t hurt but he says it will go away in a week or two....if it doesn’t then I need to go back

Just finished Cathie Pelletier's excellent novel, The One-Way Bridge. I tried to stretch it out, but when I got to within 70 pages of the ending, I just made time for it. Beautiful book.
