Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no batteries, and now it is time for you to post until the not included cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: RISIBILITY!
-
Listening to more Berlioz - I can tolerate Symphonie Fantastique, especially with Munch, but haven't cared for anything else - but am kind of enjoying L'Enfance du Christ - very tuneful and the orchestral bits are really nice. So, a nice discovery.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept very well until 3:00AM. I was awake, and I kept hearing a cat having sneeze attacks. I thought it was Stella, but ut tunred out to be Annabelle, who was not in her usual night-time aerie up in the bookcases. I decided to use the toilet, and all three cats followed me. Once in the bathroom, neither Annabelle nor Stella had any sneezing fits, and I checked their noses. So, I went back to bed, Thatch curled up beside me, and I slept fine until the alarm rang.
-
My physical therapist Milena cancelled today's session, and I need to make a lab run to 86th Street and Central Park West around 9:00. After thjat, I have no idea wgat is on today's agenda.
-
DR TCB, you're thinking about another cat? Fantastic!
-
TOD: I think I'd rather have the country worried about the pandemic than give false hope that it's over. There are enough fools out there who seem to believe it is.
-
Last night we watched Sleeping Murder, from Season 2 of Geraldine McEwan's Miss Marple series. One of its plot concerns is a performance group, "The Funnybones, " much like Priestley's Good Companions.
-
Good news about your blemish, DR vixmom! I hope the news on your mother is even more wonderful.
-
Adam Schiff is on CBS This Morning to discuss John Bolton's book, which I've ordered. When Trump, who does nothing but spread lies and misinformation, calls Bolton a liar I have to laugh.
-
And kitty cleanup is finished. I'd like to leave at 9:00 for the lab.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good news on the Dr. visit, DR vixmom.
I wonder if this is something I've had, too. They kind of look like a weird bruise, but not once have I ever thought I'd knocked my arm or hand on anything, and there's no tenderness. In a few days they're gone. Who can explain it. Who can tell you why.
-
Continued vibes for vixmom-mom's improvement and a return to somewhat normalcy.
-
T.O.D.
How can you comment on this topic without getting political?
:D :D :D
-
I got a residual check yesterday for KEATON'S COP, the first film script I sold.
That movie is 30 years old, and it keeps on giving.
I love residuals.
-
Good morning, all.

Last night we watched Sleeping Murder, from Season 2 of Geraldine McEwan's Miss Marple series. One of its plot concerns is a performance group, "The Funnybones, " much like Priestley's Good Companions.
Sounds like one I’d love. The Good Companions is probably among my top five favorite novels.
-
Good news, Vixmom.

Yesterday, I "fired" the guy who was doing the audio edition of my PETER LORRE one-person play.
Long story, which I won't bore you with.
If you know an ACTOR who does a good "Peter Lorre" and does audios, please have him contact me.
-
I like a lot of Berlioz, but haven't been able to get into other Berlioz.
The Damnation of Faust and Romeo and Juliet eventually became favorites. Each had sections of ear candy that satisfied instantly, with long stretches that required patient listening and study to get there. But get there I did, with the help of Messrs. Munch and Toscanini, respectively.
The only opera I got somewhat familiar with back in the day is Les Troyens.
-
In the meantime, the audio for my BUD ABBOTT ALONE play (published only 3 weeks ago), is virtually complete, including music and sfx.
I like working with dedicated performers.
-
I like it when there is no fog and we have 100% RISIBILITY.
-
I hope DR ELMORE's trip uptown is going well.
Vibes for DR VIXMOM that soneone's cast comes off!
Vibes for DR TCB in his quest. Maybe he will have good NEWS for us soon.
Continued BATTERY vibes for MR BK. Which reminds me of one of my favorite headlines:
BATTERY STOLEN, YOUTH CHARGED
-
I am making a chicken pasta salad today.....and I am using green peppers and green onions - the onions came from the garden of the gentleman across the street who is a very nice guy until he is on his sixth or seventh beer......
-
DR GEORGE if I tried to make those crackers, I would probably burn my house down. And you wouldn't want to be responsible for making me homeless.
-
TOD:
I don't know. I certainly think it's possible.
I'm not sure what happens to folks when they get to Washington - it must be something in the air. It suddenly becomes US [the politicians] against THEM [we the people]. And either their self-interest or greed or desire for power pits them against common sense.
This is especially true for "lifetime" politicians. They will use ANY situation to fatten their pockets, make themselves look good, and stay in power.
So it's possible.....but I am like DR ELMORE - I think I would rather them err on the side of caution for us. They're all we have - and we have to trust that some semblance of honor and responsibility will prevail.
The Founding Fathers were very smart and they knew what they were doing.....it will take more than what we're going through now to get us down.
We ain't down yet! And I have confidence that better days are ahead for we the people.
And I guess that was kind of political.
-
I got there and back. I am glad to be home.
-
One more ...

Two!

Jane, I love Mr. Blandings, except for the paint scene, which is causing me nightmares now. I can’t find the right colors for my house and I think I’m going to end up with the same white and green nonsense from those idiotic workers from the movie.
-
Also, Jane, I’ve read all of Cathie Pelletier’s books. She’s incredibly empathetic, which is probably what I like most about her. Her characters are just so human. You don’t have to read them in any order, though the first three books (The Funeral Makers, Once Upon a Time on the Banks and The Weight of Winter) are sort of a trilogy.

Good afternoon!

Good news from DR vixmom. Vibes for you and your Mom.

I didn't go to sleep until after 3:30.
-
I slept until 7:30 when the alarm woke me up.
-
We had a nice video chat with the grand kid and began planning our visit to meet her. It is scary going but too sad not to go.
-
Instead of a long visit as planned prior to all of this, it will be a very short visit.
-
If the protests and riots don't send the numbers skyrocketing and force us to cancel.

Continued vibes for vixmom-mom's improvement and a return to somewhat normalcy.
DITTO!

Long story, which I won't bore you with.
If you know an ACTOR who does a good "Peter Lorre" and does audios, please have him contact me.
Good vibes finding a new actor.

During our numerous remodels in various home we had laughed about that scene.
-
Tip about deciding on pain colors.Inside we paint large patches on the walls, outside we have painted boards and put them against the house.

I am so happy about todays Supreme Court DACA decision.

Thursday afternoon greetings! Richard and I had a busy day yesterday, requiring 2 trips in the car, 1 Zoom meeting for us together, and 1 for him alone. We picked up groceries in the morning and library books in the afternoon. Right after dinner we, together "attended" the Middletown Historical Society annual meeting, then Richard "went" to Evening Prayer. Whew, that's a lot for one day after 3 months plus of quarantine!
-
Good morning.
-
I go for my four mile walk every day. Wouldn't you think I'd lose a pound or two? Not me. I gained.
-
So I guess it will be a veggie only (mostly) diet for me for a while.
-
I stopped at Sprouts, where everyone was wearing a mask. I bought salad makings, some fruit, and some broccoli to go with the never-ending squash in my weekly vegetable box. So much squash.
-
BK, my DH's battery went dead in his truck probably the same day yours went out. In Phoenix they go bad because of the heat. He had driven several times over the past couple of weeks. Batteries just don't last long here.
-
He probably started the car twice that morning. The third try -- at the pharmacy -- it was so dead it couldn't be jump-started.
-
Wasn't that an exciting story? As Sandra and I would say, "Remember that one, and tell it again on Freedom Day."
-
TOD: I think I'd rather have the country worried about the pandemic than give false hope that it's over. There are enough fools out there who seem to believe it is.
Ditto and Ditto!!

Dame Vera Lynn, singer and 'forces' sweetheart', dies aged 103 (https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/jun/18/dame-vera-lynn-dies-aged-103). Wow! 103 years old!

As we all know, Trump does nothing but project, so when he calls Bolton a liar, well... ::)

Not to get political, or anything. ;)

:o Well, then...by all means, don't make them!!

Yes, it is a good thing.

Wow. Except for Keith's haircut we haven't done anything new since things have reopened. Sad though, some restaurants will not be reopening.
-
I got tired after reading DR GINNY's post and I had to sit down.
I had just recovered from DR ELMORE's trip uptown......
-
I go for my four mile walk every day. Wouldn't you think I'd lose a pound or two? Not me. I gained.
Just thing how much more you would have gained had you not walked.
-
MR BK must be dealing with the Battery Dilemma.
-
I go for my four mile walk every day. Wouldn't you think I'd lose a pound or two? Not me. I gained.
I also gained a little weight and need to be good today.
-
Very hot today....and hot for the next two days.
I have finished putting all the questions for the interviews on cards.
We have eight down and eight to go which we will do on Friday and Monday....
-
And everyone's picture file is done.
-
Traveling vibes for DR JANE.
Thank you. I hope our hope isn't false.

Bryan's had to put a hat on today to keep his hair from falling in his face. At least he has beautiful hair. Unfortunately the place where he gets his hair cut can't open as it was looted during the riots there :(

I'm waiting for my DH's hair to be long enough for a man-bun. Because ... man-bun.
-
Not to get political, or anything. ;)
Heaven forbid!
-
The cats en masse refused their dinner tonight. I'm not ready to climb the Big Ladder, so I'm stymied.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep - up at noon and catching up on stuff and trying to figure out the day. No battery news yet.

Well, we never got out of the car and the 2 evening meetings were online, so no "reopening" was involved.

Bryan's hair isn't that long.

If we make it to Chicago in July Bryan & Kate want to go out to dinner and leave us baby sitting.
-
I think the news often manipulates the stories. It is obvious with misleading headlines and photos that are not from the actual story. To avoid being political I will not mention examples.
-
I don't think we are currently being manipulated more than usual.
-
Traveling vibes for DR JANE.
Many more.

Stella escaped and I had to chase her to the first floor. Then Annabelle attempted a break out and I foiled that. It's completely worn me out. I've still got their dishes and mine to wash up before I can settle, and all I want to do is fall over.
-
Traveling vibes for DR JANE.
Many more.
Thank you.

A friend of mine posted the following on FB.
-
"Just a tidbit....maybe it will come in handy if you are on Jeopardy.
Sir Isaac Newton once suggested curing the plague with lozenges made from toad vomit...... So....The next time you have an idea and you worry that it's bad ... just remember this."
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad to hear about Cilla's good visit and her mom's improvement.
-
Also, that Vixmom's arm seems to be OK. I must have missed the post.
-
TOD:
While in high school I saw a blatant example of the TV news media manipulating the news. I read the NY Times and find it trustworthy. I also trust most of what I've seen on PBS. But while searching the news recently for details about the local damage I was appalled at some of the stories I saw online. Very sketchy and poorly written. I know that poor writing doesn't mean a story's untrue, but I'm less likely to find it credible.
-
I'm not as critical of politicians in general as some. I feel there are good ones and bad ones. What gets me if when people KNOW that someone is corrupt and they still vote for them! I'm thinking now of Rep Duncan Hunter of San Diego, who stole campaign funds and used them for vacations for his family. And yet he was reelected. He's now in jail, along with his wife.
-
Around the 'hood:
I went to Whole Foods Market today. No line at 2 pm. Plenty of TP on the shelves. I was shocked!
The nearby restaurants that I frequent have reopened, but business is VERY slow. Some thought that people would rush back, but that isn't the case from what I've seen, even at trendy spots with a young clientele.
-
Speaking of TP, I'm trying out TP made from bamboo, no trees at all. I love the concept. Bamboo is so prolific, it grows like a weed and it difficult to get rid of. Plus, even when conventional TP is sold out, the bamboo variety is often still available. That alone is a reason to try it. So far so good. Not as soft as what I usually choose, but not bad at all. Definitely an acceptable substitute.
-
DR George gets the award for Most Creative Mask! I'd never seen one like that! Is it comfortable to wear? Can you actually breathe?
-
Nice to know about the bamboo TP in case I ever need it. I do love clothing & towels made from bamboo. I would like to try sheets made from it.
-

I've never tried bamboo towels, clothing, or sheets. What is it you like about them, aside from saving trees?
-
I am a little twitchy about the idea of bamboo TP, but I am open......uh.....minded......
-
Hello Four Guests.
-
I've never had the bad battery experiences that BK mentioned. I've had good experiences at both Pep Boys and a local gas station. Neither overcharged and both gave good service. I don't recall taking my car to a dealer for this.
Vibes BK's car is fixed pronto!
-
I am a little twitchy about the idea of bamboo TP, but I am open......uh.....minded......
Why twitchy, Jack?
-
It's highly processed and looks just like conventional TP.
-
I saw some bamboo towels that can be used in lieu of paper towels, but they can be washed and reused repeatedly. Not thick like a bath towel, much thinner. I haven't tried them.
-
TTFN.

Just remember...you can't fix stupid. ::)

I really like that idea, too! I actually have a shirt made of bamboo. :)

Well, I'm EXHAUSTED but got everything done that I needed to do - today was that day.
-
Celebrating with pasta from Stanley's.
-
And the battery did come in today and they were here and it's installed.
-
Just drove to the mail place - haven't been since Monday - not a damn thing there.
-
After food we have a quick Zoom thing at eight.
-

They are soft and I like the feel of the fabric.

The bath towels are a mix of bamboo & cotton.
-
"Modern clothing labeled as being made from bamboo is usually viscose rayon, a fiber made by dissolving the cellulose in the bamboo, and then extruding it to form fibres. This process removes the natural characteristics of bamboo fibre, rendering it identical to rayon from other cellulose sources."

And the battery did come in today and they were here and it's installed.
Great.

And the battery did come in today and they were here and it's installed.
Great news, BK!
-
Food was great and just what I needed. Now I'll watch a couple of Hitch episodes before the 8:00 Zoom thing.

DR George gets the award for Most Creative Mask! I'd never seen one like that! Is it comfortable to wear? Can you actually breathe?
The one I got (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NW5VGKS/) is actually quite comfortable. The only real problem is that my glasses might get caught on the yarn, but as long as I take off both the mask and glasses at the same time, it's not been a problem. This did take a long time to get. There were others (most others) that would've gotten here sooner, but those tended to be made of acrylic and this was one was made of "Knitting Wool."
-
This particular listing has 21 different versions of funny ski caps:

Home from dance class. I was exhausted before going. Two hours of line dancing didn't help much in waking me up. But it was good exercise.
-
Watching 49 Up, which I missed in the sequence of the films. I hope the library gets 63 Up.
-
It's past time for me to leave work and head home, so I shall.
Be back later.
-
Time for bed.
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Hi
-
Doctor told Mom she could have her cast off today
-
She complained that her arm hurt too much without the cast for support
-
So he put another one in for another week
-
Imagine my elation at the news
-
Listening to more Munch - a strange happening - I'm listening to a lot of music I normally never would - some I still don't like, but other stuff I've come around to, including two Mendelssohn symphonies (4 and 5) that are kind of exquisite. Guess I'll have to listen to more - a violin concerto by him is coming shortly.
-
So he put another one in for another week
:o.
Why not a soft, removable cast?
-
Imagine my elation at the news
:(
-
DR Vixmom how old is your mother? I forgot.
-
It is quiet tonight.
-
I just finished making some more mini cheesecakes to bring to my parents' house tomorrow.
-
Here they are:
-
:)
-
Here's the second batch:
-
I'm leaving work early to play cards with the parents and their friends.
-
My niece might come also, but I don't think my sister will.
-
The family will probably all get together on Sunday for Father's Day.
-
It is this Sunday, isn't it??
-
I just checked.
-
Yes, it is.
-
And now...
-
...since we're so close...
-
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Now, I just need to let the mini cheesecakes cool enough so that I can put them in the fridge.
