Well, you've read the notes, the notes said pretty please with extra sauce and noted that it's August, and now it is time for you to post until the August cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BONANZA!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept well and remember none of my dreams. I woke around 12:30 to take Tizanidine, and I remember saying to Thatch, my sleeping partner, I just had the strangest dream, and by then it had faded from my memory.
-
DR Laura, last night Thatch and Stella and I had a rousiong game with Da Bird. Whenever we play with it, I think of you and silently say Thank you.
-
Because Da Bird is a wand toy with a long wand, it's very had to put away where the cats cannot get to it. For awhile, the safest place was to store it at the top of a CD case, with the feathered toy peeking out. Well, both Stella and Thatch finallyt figured ouot how to retrieve it by climbing onto my computer, risking their lives bt reaching out into space, nearly knocking over the floor lamp and getting at least one claw into the feathers.
So, I turned the wand the other way, and Stella realized ther feather toy would be at the other end of the CD case. My klitties are smart.
-
DR George, I agree with DR vixmom. You are a wonderful son. Your parents are very lucky.
-
DR TCB, I know too well about cats and water. The only cat I have never bathed is Annabelle. When Thatch was first adopted, three months old and hiding from us under the bookcases, he ended up covered in roach poison. I bathed him immediately because I was terrified he would poison himself.
I did the same with Stella over a year ago, when she tore open that bag of pesticide and was covered in it. Yesterday, as soon as I realized how dirty and oily she was after her escapade out of the apartment, she received what I hope was her last bath. I must say, though, her coat now looks stunning.
-
I have two things to do today: pay bills and organize a drawer.
-
We had the pianist TOD on June 30, a month ago, and I posted this:
Arthur Rubinstein
Leif One Andsnes
Eugene List
Kristian Zimernan
Van Cliburn
Vladimir Horowitz
-
Violinists:
Itzhak Perlman
Isaac Stern
Pinchas Zukerman
Jascha Heifetz
-
Good morning, all.
-
Kitty cleanup is over, and I really need to cart everythng out of the bathroom and thoroughly clean it. I think I may try to do that tomorrow.
-
I've made the bed, and I just made a swiss-mushroom omelet for breakfast, It turned out quite nicely.
-
Last night we tried to watch The Last of Sheila. I don't know how I missed it in the 70s since I was then, unlike now, a huge Sondheim fanatic. I honestly do not recall its ever playing in Middletown, Cincinnati, or Dayton, or I would have seen it. We watched for about 45 minutes when the low volume on the DVD and my inability to hear made me turn it off in disgust. I need to watch it on the computer.
-
Youy know the worst part of IMDB "reviewers"? Their illiteracy.
-
Good morning, all.

I went to The Last of Sheila a couple of times the week it opened at the Hollywood Pacific (BK's Stanley Warner) when it was still in its grand single screen glory. But for me, then, it wasn't for Sondheim. It was the cast and the fact that it was a mystery-thriller that attracted me.
After that, I probably didn't cross paths with it till I got the DVD, and I've probably only watched that once. I shall have to return to it sometime.
And the next time newspapers.com runs a freebie, we'll have to see where it played in the Middletown/Dayton vicinity. :)
-
Has anyone seen this Canadian series, Frankie Drake Mysteries?
-
Did you know that a group of BONANZAs is called a hand - and each individual BONANZA is called a finger?
-
I am horrified by DR JANE's bicycle rider story.....what a jerk.
-
Vibes for DR GEORGE's mother.
-
Important envelope vibes for MR BK

Saturday morning greetings! Yesterday's errands were only partly successful, so today we have to return to the Middletown library and the Kroger pharmacy for drive-up pick-ups. But that will be after my 3 paper crafting webinars, courtesy of Michael's.
-
DR George, I hope your Mom receives good test results.
-
Today is the 50th anniversary of the passing of Miss Frances Farmer......
-
This Des Moines Metro Opera production of Britten's Billy Budd is rather good.

-
DR TCB great story about the arrest of Lee Harvey Oswald.
-
DR George I hope you got some sleep and that your mother was able to catch up on her sleep in the hospital, not that I am sure how such a thing is possible.
-
DR George, I agree with DR vixmom. You are a wonderful son. Your parents are very lucky.
Thanks, Larry. ;D
-
I'm up after a fitful night of sleep, but I did get some. My dad had some cereal for breakfast, so I'm thinking of going to McDonald's or some other place for mine. My sister and/or niece will come over in an hour or so, and then I'll be able to go home, feed my cat, take my morning meds, take a shower, change my clothes and then come back. My mom said that she WILL be coming home today!

I'll have to watch this later. Zachary James is in this. He was also in the recent Akhnaten at the Met that was shown on PBS. :)
-
DR George I hope you got some sleep and that your mother was able to catch up on her sleep in the hospital, not that I am sure how such a thing is possible.
Thanks, Jane. I hope she was able to, too.
-
And now, I must be off. I'm going to get something to eat, come back to my parents' house and wait for my sister and/or niece to show up.
Until later.

I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep, did stuff of no consequence, went to the mail place but there was nothing from yesterday and today's hadn't arrived, stopped at Jerry's to bring home some food, and now I'm back and naturally dealing with Kritzerland show stuff.

Just finished watching Rusalka. I'd actually forgotten how affected I was by it in the theater. What an incredible production.
You can still stream it for free up till about 6:30 eastern. Use the link on this page: https://shrtm.nu/c9zB
I have to watch the one DR Elmore linked to, and I'll see what others are out there. I'm really curious as to how some of this has been portrayed in other productions. And I'm loving the score more and more. This is a winner.

When I was in college, the operas of Dvorak and Janacek, along with others, were still pretty much unknown in the USA. When I was a senior I went to a friend's graduate recital in which she sang Rusalka's Hymn to the Moon. At the time I thought, this is glorious; if the rest of the score is as good as this, why does no one perform it? Twenty-two years later, while I was in Houston working on the Grand Opera production of Babes In Toyland, I saw their production of Rusalka with a young unknown Renee Fleming, and I think that was the start of interest in performing the work in this country.
-
I love many pianists, classical-wise, including most mentioned, but favorites right now are Byron Janis, Leon Fleisher, Arthur Rubinstein, Maryla Jones, Leonard Pennario, to name but a few.
-
Up from a brief nap.
-
Having a TV (two, actually) around could fry my brain. We watched a rerun of a late Perry Mason TV movie with Raymond Burr and the rest of the gang with plenty of bad 1980s hair styles.
-
Couldn't resist. A friend posted this. Shamelessly stole it, actually, as I am doing now.

Okay, they're not all real, of course.
And I rather hope it *wasn't* posted by a librarian. (Nevil who??)
-
I like it, ChasSmith. I like it.
-
Most entertaining DR CHAS SMITH!
-
The NHL Hockey Season started today.
Tonight on NBC there is a hockey game. On Zoom or something at BWW they are streaming Broadway Bares.....at 9:30 p.m. EDST.
For those uninterested in Hockey.

August is of course My Birthday Month.....so lots of things will be happening....

I actually got more accomplished than I expected. Who knew?
-
Stella has followed me around all day. climed on the desk while I paid bills, and curled up beside me at naptime. She's either forgiven me or she's got Stockholm Syndrome.
-
This could be Annabelle starring as Nellie Forbush.
-
There's an Instagram account for a deaf French bulldog named Bluenjy. He and his owner Evan have lots of photos of the two if them eating the same foods and often wearing the same shirts.

Lots of Kritzerland show stuff. Guest star came through, so that leaves only the other guest, who'll be dealing with it tomorrow.

I am sure your friend shamelessly stole it as it has been circulating on FB since the beginning of the pandemic ;D
It is very clever and worth sharing :)

Vibes for DR George's mom!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks, Jennifer!
-
Well, I'm back at my parents' house because my mom didn't come home today. HOPEFULLY, she will tomorrow!
-
Page three? Really?
-
Finished with my viewing and listening to Leinsdorf do Mahler. Great stuff.
-
A shame he didn't do a complete cycle.
-
But what he did do for RCA and Living Stereo is the berries.
-
I had bagels, cream cheese, and lox for food, and a little thing of coleslaw, all very good.
-
And then I wrote...
-
Why I oughta...
-
Thank you, JRand, for the heads up on Broadway Bares.
-
I played Rummi-Cube with Mom for awhile tonight. We figured out why we weren't getting a lot of two sets of tiles. They weren't fully in that set.
-
This is why I bought them three or four sets a few years ago. She simply pulled out another box and we continued playing.
-
C'est la guerre.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Four!
-
We had a happy hour with a few folks at work tonight.
-
I finished off a bottle of rose' during the two hours of talk.
-
It was fun, but the best story came up at the very end.
-
The director, who likes to be called Star Lord, told us of how he hit on Beyonce back in the days before Destiny's Child.
-
His daughter, Brooklyn, came in and was shocked at the story.
-
We were laughing. Imagine a white dude with dreadlocks and piercings hitting on Queen Bey.
-

Really? Star Lord?? :o
-
She wasn't having any of it.
-
But he said Kelly Rowland was far nicer.
-
Gratuitous Post No. 100!
-
And with that lively tale, I must bid you farewell.
-
Good night, all.
-
Hey there
-
This mornings smoothie (for those who care) was almond milk, strawberries, raspberries and a golden kiwi
-
Lunch was one slice of rye bread (seeded) with melted cheddar cheese
-
Dinner was a burger with Muenster cheese and homemade guacamole on a brioche roll
-
I made Vixdad an omelette with sautéed onions, sweet red, green and yellow peppers and tomatoes, and Swiss cheese.
-
And sausages and whole wheat toast
-
His lunch was ham and cheddar on whole wheat with lettuce and tomato
-
He had cheddar burgers with lettuce and tomato
-
This is what my life has become
-
Buying groceries
-
Cooking meals
-
Cleaning up
-
I miss doing stuff!
-
I also had an exciting round of laundrey
-
Both darks and lights
-
Then I visited Costco, two grocery stores and CVS
-
And my mom
-
We also binged season 2 of the Umbrella Academy over the past two days
-
I found page 5
-
I am sorry to hear your mom isn’t home yet, George

Do you know why they are keeping her? Was your sister able to visit?

I think they still want to see how she's doing. I spoke with her at about 8:30 tonight. She said that she doesn't have the vertigo to the extent that she had that started all of this, but she's still a little dizzy, but has definitely improved. I don't think that anyone has visited, but she'll absolutely come home tomorrow.
-
Continued vibes for the mother of DR George.
Thanks, Jane!

Listening to music and about to try a Stouffer's lean cuisine. They haven't been very good, so we'll see if this makes it past one bite.
-
Nope, not even one bite - horrid. But I had a Marie Callender's thing, too, so I'm making that and I'm sure that will be fine.

'night
-
Well, I really need to go to bed now, perchance to sleep.
-
My dad has to get up in the morning to go to church (friends from church will drive him), but I might need to get up in time to wake him so that he's ready.
-
And since he gets up frequently during the night to have a smoke :P I have been awakened several times last night, and I'm sure will be again tonight...so, the more potential sleep time, the better.

So, I'm off to bed.
Have a good tomorrow, all!
-
Sleep? Now?
-
Listening to the Schumann first symphony - but not his orchestration, but re-orchestrated by someone named Gustav Mahler. Sounds good to me.
-
Sleep? Now?
George? Sleep? Now?
-
I think this may be the only time I can remember George going to bed before 11:00 p.m.!
-
Maybe he is confused and thinks this is tomorrow morning?
-
Continued vibes to DR George’s mother.
-
I did nothing today except to work on things on the computer.
-
I didn’t even go and check the mail.
-
I did have a Safeway delivery. It arrived late, with no apology.
-
I don’t believe this was a regular Safeway delivery person. My receipt does mention that some deliveries will be delivered by outside drivers.
-
I guess they must still be very busy.
-

Jane, I am glad you enjoyed the Oswald story. That has always been one of my biggest question marks from that day. The President and the Governor have just been shot in downtown. The entire police force is crawling around looking for clues in Dealey Plaza; and suddenly 15 police officers desert the investigation to track down a guy who snuck into a theater without paying for a ticket! Amazing!
-
Well, there is no waiting for George tonight.
-
So I will bid you all ....Good night!
