Well, you've read the notes, the notes took us right into 2021, and now it is time for you to post until the 2021 New Year's cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BLESSING!
-
Bruce we are still posting on yesterday.
-
I see you fixed it.
-
'night
-
The Space Needle show was awesome!
-
It will probably show up on YouTube.
-
Good night.
-
Happy New Year to EVERYONE!!
-
Page one. That's saying something.
-
Finishing up Atterberg and will try for one more CD before going to bed.
-
Someone on Facebook posted the FOLLIES Demos (https://youtu.be/qX-HQ4BDuJM) sung by Stephen Sondheim himself, and I'm listening to them now! I'd heard them before, but once I got started, I wanted to hear them all. :) Here's the track list:
1. Beautiful Girls @ 0:00
2. Don't Look at Me @ 3:09
3. That Old Piano Roll @ 7:25
4. Waiting for the Girls Upstairs @ 10:00
5. All Things Bright and Beautiful @ 15:37
6. Rain on the Roof @ 19:12
7. Who's That Woman @ 20:37
8. Can That Boy Foxtrot! @ 24:22
9. Pleasant Little Kingdom / Too Many Mornings @ 27:05
10. One More Kiss @ 33:06
11. Could I Leave You @ 36:04
12. Who Could Be Blue @ 38:40
13. Uptown - Downtown @ 40:26
14. It Wasn't Meant to Happen @ 42:46
-
And now, I'm off to more listening and playing solitaire on my tablet. Today, the family is all going to my mom's and I said that I'd make some brownies to bring. I bought a box mix that's all organic, so that'll be good, I'm sure.
Have a good day, all!
-
Page one. That's saying something.
Who'da thunk it?? ;)
-
And then I wrote...
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Listening to a wonderful orchestral CD of Weinberger music.
-
The one thing that never changes no matter what the year - that a bunch of bills come due on the first - oh, well. All these online payments I do online show up at midnight every new month. Several have gone up and I'm gonna have to do something about that. But this beautiful Weinberger music is making me happy, so there's that. He wrote a wonderful symphony in America - called the Lincoln Symphony - it's had quite a few performances and yet has never been recorded - Leonard Slatkin did it a few years ago. It's on the Tube of You from 1941, its premiere with Eugene Goossens conducting, but the quality is just horrid.
-
If we only had all the money in the world, we would right some of these wrongs.
-
I think I'll go to bed shortly.
-
Don't want to get up too late tomorrow, as I have a book to start.
-
Good morning, all!
-
It is 2021!
-
I watched a bit of CNN's New Year's Eve with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, but by 9:45 I was so irritated with them I went to bed. Watching them is like watching the Super Ego and the Id, and I got tired fast of Andy Cohen's talking over everyone. It's a limited appeal from a legend in his own mind.
-
Didn't Jean Kerr once write something about never wanting to sit through a play where the people onstage were having more fun than the audience?
-
Thanks for the Sondheim link, DR George.
-
I had a dream that turned into a nightmare, something about an ETA Hoffmann tale about an evil doppelganger, that woke me right up around 11:30. I told Thatch about it, turned the light off and went back to sleep.
-
Sorry I pooped out so early last night. I am normally in bed between 8:30pm and 9:00pm, so just couldn't keep my eyes open that late.
-
When I woke, there were pointy hats, confetti, and pantaloons all over the apartment, so I guess Annabelle had party I slept through.
-
Happy New Year, everyone.
-
I think I will lie about all morning and be lazy. At some point I will peel and prepare to mash some potatoes for dinner.
-
I guess Annabelle had a party I slept through.
Sounds just like her.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
Sounds good, DR elmore3003. We will soon be roasting more root vegetables here.
-
But first, buttermilk pancakes.
-
Happy Birthday to Sandra, my wonderful wife!
-
Sandy wanted to see a New Year's movie last night, so we watched WHEN HARRY MET SALLY.
-
Good morning, all. Happy New Year!
-
What fun last night at HHW.....of course, I didn't read it until this morning.
I fell asleep somewhere between That's Entertainment III - the beginning and the end.....
-
Happy New Year and Good Health & Prosperity for ALL!
-
I think I will have New Year's Day Wieners today!
-
Vibes for Project One to MR BK.....and book vibes as well.
-
I am having a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. I had to buy them because they didn't have the same on a biscuit which I usually buy. It turns out I think I like the croissant better.
Which reminds me of something Bill Murray said in KINGPIN:
"You're on a gravy train with biscuits wheels! Don't blow it!"
-
Hopefully it will be a quiet day.....week....month.....
Will we be notified when we can get a vaccination.....do we contact our doctors.....how does it work?
-
Thanks for reminding me, DR Jrand70 - forgot to mention that I was very pleased to read some details about PROJECT 1, and am looking forward to viewing it once it is released.

New Year’s Day greetings! Rainy day here and we’d be snowed in if it were colder. We’re all settled in for a day of college football. First up, the Peach Bowl - Go, Cincinnati Bearcats!
-
Good ... woops ... afternoon, all.
-
Happy Birthday to Sandra, my wonderful wife!
Happy Birthday to your DW Sandra.
-
I’m doing nothing today but savoring the sight of the holidays, and 2020, in my rear view mirror.
The holidays themselves were great, but this is always the day I enjoy feeling done with it anyway, and that applies tenfold — nay, a hundredfold — this year.
Right now we’re vegging out in front of the usual New Year’s Day Twilight Zone marathon — a silly activity when there are complete Blu-ray and DVD sets in the house, but it takes zero effort and I’ve been tuning into these marathons off and on since the early 1980s. Tradition!
-
Tomorrow we’re going to take our ornaments off the tree and pack the decorations away, but we’re going to leave the tree and lights up for a couple of weeks or however long it stays viable.
-
I'm up, I'm up - about six and a half hours of sleep. I was in bed by two but went to starting book land and got up about five times to write down stuff that was coming to me.
-
I'll start on the book shortly, but want to do some track fixes first.
-
Good morning.
(It's three minutes until noon.)
-
I don't think I have any New Year's Day traditions. Mostly, recover from the wild New Year's Eve Party the night before.
-
Which, if you recall, is a soup party at the church.
-
TOD: My CD player still has A Charlie Brown Christmas.
I don't have a DVD player, and my laptop won't play a DVD. So, nothing.
-
Two houses in the Phoenix area burned down due to fireworks last night.
-
I made blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning. I figured that would be a nice way to start a new year.
-
My DH JUMPED when a huge BOOM occurred last night. Someone behind our house was setting off fireworks. One of them made a big orange ball of light.
-
~~~BOOK COMMENCEMENT VIBES~~~ for bk!
I’ll second that.
-
Three!
-
Happy Birthday to Mrs. Druxy! Next year's birthday will be back to normal.
-
I made blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning. I figured that would be a nice way to start a new year.
I didn’t get mine.
-
Happy birthday to Druxy’s Sandy.
-
Watching The Fortune Cookie for the first time. Andre Previn’s score is variations on You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To.
-
Happy New Year!
-
Andre Previn’s score is variations on You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To.
It could be worse. It could be "Pop Goes the Weasel."
I’m not complaining. It’s Cole Porter. But Previn gets the credit.
-
The movie isn’t one of Billy Wilder’s best, but Walter Matthau is great.
-
Finessed tracks, futzed and finessed what I'd written for the new book, and wrote a couple of new pages. I'll take a little break now and then write more. I'd like to do at least five to ten more today so I'm really into it.
-
I had a nice dinner: cabbage, pork sausages, and mashed potatoes. I'll have some chips and guacamole later.
-
Sounds good, DR elmore3003.
-
We have a mostly sunny day here, with warmer temps than we've had. Feels like it's getting the new year off to a good start.
-
I love the Internet.
-
Let's hope that cabbage brings New Year's magic and moolah.
I just got in from an hour-long walk. The temperatures are in the 60s. The sun was out, but the standing water was heavy. No walking on the sidewalks, only on the edge of the street -- and even then.
-
I made an easy seafood stew with fish, shrimp and clams mixed in. And coleslaw on the side. Figured it would be a healthy way to start the year.
-
I love the Internet.
Perhaps that's why I say "Here, here!"
-
Perhaps that's why I say "Here, here!"
;D
Me, too. Although I don't drink anything BUT wine, and even then, not very often.
-
New Year's magic and moolah.
~~~IMPORTANT ENVELOPE VIBE$~~~ for bk and for, well, every DR as needs 'em.
-
Yep.
-
Did another page, then went to Gelson's, which, I'm happy to report, was quite empty. I got two chicken tenders (baked - their fryer is on the fritz), a small rack of ribs, some mac-and-cheese, bagels and cream cheese and some tapioca pudding for a treat.
-
Good Afternoon! The start of 2021 began with a Mass that I played for, which was lovely. Then a trip to the grocery to get stuff for brunch tomorrow as well as the ingredients for my favorite crock pot sausage-tortilinni soup which I'm making on Sunday. I also picked up a pork roast for this evenings dinner. Now I have to figure out how to cook it.
-
I'm listening to "Carpenters with The Royal Philharmonic" on vinyl. I've had the digital edition for a while and I went ahead and bought the vinyl basically for the liner notes, etc. I'm not a fan of the new technology used to create new vinyl records. First of all, they are so thick, you could use them as a hot plate and they probably wouldn't melt. They just don't have the same warmth as old records do. And do you know, it's impossible to find an old-fashioned record changer? Remember how you could put a stack of records on the player and they'd play one after the other? Can't find those anymore. We are all so spoiled with being able to listen to an entire album digitally and not have to make any changes. Usually, when a side of record is over, I'm in the middle of something and can't stop to turn it over. LOL. First world issues....
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Wishing you all a New Year full of fulfilled dreams and successes aplenty!
-
One or two of my neighbors felt they just had to set off firecrackers last night. Makes it hard to sleep!
-
I did some laundry, paid my rent, and am having a relaxed day.
-
I have no other news.
TTFN.
-
Was thinking of Karen Carpenter’s amazing voice just the other day.
-
Four!
-
Food eaten. Forgot to mention that the idiot neighbors have been loudly having a partay today. Don't know how many are in attendance, but can tell from the dialogue that no one is wearing a mask.
-
Which, if you recall, is a soup party at the church.
Making all that soup would require a day of rest.
-
Karen Carpenter’s amazing voice
Will always be a favorite of mine.

I suppose this is part of the reason LA is in such bad shape :(
We often chat with a couple while out walking. I now they think we should go to Chicago. I think it would be crazy to go anywhere that they are out of beds if you get sick.
-
Wife Sandy says "Thank you" for the birthday wishes.

I had a nice dinner: cabbage, pork sausages, and mashed potatoes. I'll have some chips and guacamole later.
I had soup leftover from last year.
-

Well, the soup part is potluck. I make a couple kinds, plus the cherpumple. Then I do the cleaning up. That's what I recover from.
-
I would be scared to try to make a cherpumple.
-
Taking a longer break now. I've done about ten new pages, so that's pretty good, and I'm sure I'll do another five at least.
-
I have finally hung all the art in the apartment! In case anyone wanted to know!
-
Wife Sandy says "Thank you" for the birthday wishes.
I hope she had a nice day.
-
I have finally hung all the art in the apartment! In case anyone wanted to know!
I always think it is exciting to have the artwork on the walls.

I agree! Makes it feel very homey. We are totally getting there.

The cherpumple was easy. It was the croquembouche that took all day.

New Year’s Day started with a nice breakfast
Of croquembouche?
Or maybe a croque Madam or a croque monsieur?
-
I tried to post a picture but it’s too big
-
Eggs over easy, chicken apple breakfast sausage, broiled mushrooms and tomatoes
-
Of course a nice pot of tea
-
Then we just did snacky things
-
The rest of the new year wieners, cold shrimp with cocktail sauce, a cheese platter, with smoked Gouda, port wine cheddar, havarti and sharp cheddar, pepperoni, seedless red grapes, wheat thins and a bottle of Chardonnay we picked up at a Lancaster winery a couple of years ago
-
I have a pork roast in the oven, potatoes in the air fryer, and asparagus/mushrooms ready to heat up in the frying pan when the pork roast comes out
-
I would be scared to try to make a cherpumple.
The cherpumple was easy. It was the croquembouche that took all day.
I wouldn't even attempt a croquembouche! Congrats!
It was a small one.

It's beautiful! Did you make the cream puffs from scratch?
-
Thank you.
Yes. One of the reasons it took so long. It was quite a learning experience.
-
It was the caramel that gave me trouble. I had to redo it.
-

That's pretty amazing!!
-
Finished watching The Cunning Little Vixen - fun production and wonderful music.
-
I've also been doing fixes on tracks all day, too. We may do another one or two tonight, but I think we'll be able to finish it all up by Monday morning, so that's good. I've written fifteen new pages so far and that's probably enough, but I may do another page or two before bed. I also finessed and futzed a huge amount on the first five pages I'd already written, so it's really like doing twenty pages, which is a great first day. In fact, I finished chapter one and have written the first part of chapter two.

A Kurt Weill cabaret from the Berlin Comic Opera.

-
I’m enjoying the singer and her pianist. So far.
-
That croquembouche is lovely, Laura. Did you enjoy the flavor? Or just the challenge?
I’ve tried a thing or two that was so exhausting I just served it to others without more than a taste.
-
Good night, all.
-
Thank you.
Yes. One of the reasons it took so long. It was quite a learning experience.
It is beautiful and looks delicious.
-
It was the caramel that gave me trouble. I had to redo it.
Wow, what a lot of work but worth it.
-
I made two loaves of beer bread, one with cheddar and garlic and one that is gluten free - using 1-1 gluten free flour and gluten free beer. I have a feeling that is not going to turn out well. But we'll see.
-
'night
-
Finished with Janacek's Jenufa - some terrific moments, but not my favorite of his thus far at least.
-
Now listening to Catalani's La Wally. Not my cuppa so far, but I know there's some really famous thing from it, so I'll keep on going.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I don't think I'll get to any more pages tonight, due to having to write notes and needing to get to bed early for an early arising in the morning.
-
I saw The Makropulos Case live at the Met back in the day. I was not at the performance where the singer playing the lawyer fell from the bookcase ladder and died.
-
Ah, just got the bit hit from La Wally - the aria that was a major part of the film Diva - and it's really a beauty and I'm enjoying the rest, now that I'm used to its style.
-
It's a beaut, all right!
-
A great deal for single folks.
-
Wife Sandy says "Thank you" for the birthday wishes.
And additional birthday wishes from me.
-
140 Republican House members are going to vote against certifying Biden’s election!!
NOW I am pissed.
-
Finished watching The Cunning Little Vixen - fun production and wonderful music.
I could swear I saw a porno film by that name.
-
Thanks for the Sondheim link, DR George.
My pleasure!
-
A trip to the bathroom and back to the bed, and then I need almost five minutes to get my breath back

Hi, Tom.
-
I went to my mom's today and we ate and played Phase 10 and I lost...not surprisingly. ::)
;)
-
Then, I came home and read a chapter of one of my books, and took a little nap. Then, I woke up and read another chapter, and now, I only have two chapters to finish my book!
-

I think Mr. Biden's certification will happen exactly as it needs to. All the rest is so much hot air, as it has been for the past six weeks. The foolishness of these people is beyond repair, but in the end it will all be for naught and I hope they pay the price for their nonsense, which I think they will.

There's always hope that they will pay the price for their nonsense.
