Well, you've read the notes, the notes took us right into 2021, and now it is time for you to post until the 2021 New Year's cows come home.

Someone on Facebook posted the FOLLIES Demos (https://youtu.be/qX-HQ4BDuJM) sung by Stephen Sondheim himself, and I'm listening to them now!  I'd heard them before, but once I got started, I wanted to hear them all. :) Here's the track list:

1.  Beautiful Girls @ 0:00
2.  Don't Look at Me @ 3:09
3.  That Old Piano Roll @ 7:25
4.  Waiting for the Girls Upstairs @ 10:00
5.  All Things Bright and Beautiful @ 15:37
6.  Rain on the Roof @ 19:12
7.  Who's That Woman @ 20:37
8.  Can That Boy Foxtrot! @ 24:22
9.  Pleasant Little Kingdom / Too Many Mornings @ 27:05
10.  One More Kiss @ 33:06
11.  Could I Leave You @ 36:04
12.  Who Could Be Blue @ 38:40
13.  Uptown - Downtown @ 40:26
14.  It Wasn't Meant to Happen @ 42:46

And now, I'm off to more listening and playing solitaire on my tablet.  Today, the family is all going to my mom's and I said that I'd make some brownies to bring.  I bought a box mix that's all organic, so that'll be good, I'm sure.

Have a good day, all!

The one thing that never changes no matter what the year - that a bunch of bills come due on the first - oh, well.  All these online payments I do online show up at midnight every new month.  Several have gone up and I'm gonna have to do something about that.  But this beautiful Weinberger music is making me happy, so there's that.  He wrote a wonderful symphony in America - called the Lincoln Symphony - it's had quite a few performances and yet has never been recorded - Leonard Slatkin did it a few years ago.  It's on the Tube of You from 1941, its premiere with Eugene Goossens conducting, but the quality is just horrid.

I watched a bit of CNN's New Year's Eve with Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, but by 9:45 I was so irritated with them I went to bed. Watching them is like watching the Super Ego and the Id, and I got tired fast of Andy Cohen's talking over everyone. It's a limited appeal from a legend in his own mind.

I am having a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant.  I had to buy them because they didn't have the same on a biscuit which I usually buy.  It turns out I think I like the croissant better.

Which reminds me of something Bill Murray said in KINGPIN:

"You're on a gravy train with biscuits wheels!  Don't blow it!"

I’m doing nothing today but savoring the sight of the holidays, and 2020, in my rear view mirror.

The holidays themselves were great, but this is always the day I enjoy feeling done with it anyway, and that applies tenfold — nay, a hundredfold — this year.

Right now we’re vegging out in front of the usual New Year’s Day Twilight Zone marathon — a silly activity when there are complete Blu-ray and DVD sets in the house, but it takes zero effort and I’ve been tuning into these marathons off and on since the early 1980s. Tradition!

I just got in from an hour-long walk. The temperatures are in the 60s. The sun was out, but the standing water was heavy. No walking on the sidewalks, only on the edge of the street -- and even then.

I'm listening to "Carpenters with The Royal Philharmonic" on vinyl.  I've had the digital edition for a while and I went ahead and bought the vinyl basically for the liner notes, etc.  I'm not a fan of the new technology used to create new vinyl records.  First of all, they are so thick, you could use them as a hot plate and they probably wouldn't melt.  They just don't have the same warmth as old records do.  And do you know, it's impossible to find an old-fashioned record changer?  Remember how you could put a stack of records on the player and they'd play one after the other?  Can't find those anymore.  We are all so spoiled with being able to listen to an entire album digitally and not have to make any changes.  Usually, when a side of record is over, I'm in the middle of something and can't stop to turn it over. LOL.    First world issues....

I suppose this is part of the reason LA is in such bad shape :(

We often chat with a couple while out walking.  I now they think we should go to Chicago.  I think it would be crazy to go anywhere that they are out of beds if you get sick.

I would be scared to try to make a cherpumple.

The cherpumple was easy. It was the croquembouche that took all day.

Or maybe a croque Madam or a croque monsieur?

The rest of the new year wieners, cold shrimp with cocktail sauce, a cheese platter, with smoked Gouda, port wine cheddar, havarti and sharp cheddar, pepperoni, seedless red grapes, wheat thins and a bottle of Chardonnay we picked up at a Lancaster winery a couple of years ago

I've also been doing fixes on tracks all day, too. We may do another one or two tonight, but I think we'll be able to finish it all up by Monday morning, so that's good.  I've written fifteen new pages so far and that's probably enough, but I may do another page or two before bed.  I also finessed and futzed a huge amount on the first five pages I'd already written, so it's really like doing twenty pages, which is a great first day.  In fact, I finished chapter one and have written the first part of chapter two.

That croquembouche is lovely, Laura. Did you enjoy the flavor? Or just the challenge?

I’ve tried a thing or two that was so exhausting I just served it to others without more than a taste.

I made two loaves of beer bread, one with cheddar and garlic and one that is gluten free - using 1-1 gluten free flour and gluten free beer. I have a feeling that is not going to turn out well.  But we'll see.

Ah, just got the bit hit from La Wally - the aria that was a major part of the film Diva - and it's really a beauty and I'm enjoying the rest, now that I'm used to its style.

I think Mr. Biden's certification will happen exactly as it needs to.  All the rest is so much hot air, as it has been for the past six weeks.  The foolishness of these people is beyond repair, but in the end it will all be for naught and I hope they pay the price for their nonsense, which I think they will.
