This will be a quiet day since I must be out and about tomorrow and Thursday. I need to vacuum, tidy up, and make trups to the basement to take down the recyclables and to the lobby to pick up yesterday's mail.

TOD

There were a few years - late 80s and early 90s - when I was eating a LOT of pizza. I’d go out to restaurants that served good ones, and do a lot of takeout as well. I was in the habit of ordering at least a medium, and when really “starving”, sometimes a large, and I’d always knock back a couple of glasses of red wine with it. I know I always finished a medium, and I think I even demolished a large one once or twice.

I was living alone then, and it was all too easy to be gluttonous without feeling too guilty. To tell the truth, I could probably accomplish the same right now, but the feat has a little less appeal, and I’d also be all the more aware that I wasn’t doing my waistline or anything else any favors.

I can usually eat three or four slices of a Papa John's pizza, which is about half.

But like DR GEORGE, in my misspent youth, I could eat an entire frozen pizza.....baked of course.

I have two canes in the apartment, and I usually know where I've left one of them.  I just finished vacuuming, and I have no idea where one of them can be.  I've looked all over the apartment . . . and I just found it hooked over a Lacie external hard drive.

I think the most pizza I ever ate occurred at the two pizza parties I hosted. The first featured pizzas baked in the oven. The second, the pies were all done on the grill.

What little oinkers we were on both occasions.

I just found that I'm inadvertently playing THE WAITING GAME with an Amazon shipment. I was checking on one shipment that's being delivered today, when I decided to check on a later order that wasn't yet due. I clicked on "track shipment", and found:

Unfortunately, a problem occurred during shipping and we had to cancel your delivery. We will issue a refund within 48 hours. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience.

Of course all that does is raise questions and tell me NOTHING, so I checked further tracking info which reveals that it shipped on Sunday (it doesn't say from where), it arrived at Amazon in Teterboro NJ yesterday, it left Teterboro for Danbury, it arrived at Danbury before dawn's crack this morning -- where, fifteen minutes later "a carrier delay" occurred and it's being returned to Amazon. No other explanation.

I also have to wonder why, instead of a refund, they aren't simply reshipping. It boggles the mind.
Title: Re: THE WAITING GAME
Post by: ChasSmith on January 05, 2021, 11:14:30 AM
The only way I discovered this was going in and clicking on "track shipment". I've received no email or other notice about it.

EDIT:  Weirdly, it had been moved up from its original estimate of next week, to:  today. Meaning it would have been able to be delivered with the already scheduled item. But that item is on a Prime truck, and this one is coming through the postal service.

Did I say it boggles the mind?

It has been too long since I have overindulged on pizza, even then I have never had an entire pizza to myself.  I usually eat two pieces.  I often take the topping off of a third slice and add it to the first pieces of pizza.

We watched the 2016 Roundabout She Loves Me the other day. There were parts that I liked, but I was kind of appalled at how they "tarted up" the chorus scenes (the restaurant and the Christmas shopping). And while I love love love Laura Benanti, she seemed vocally just a mite uncomfortable singing that role, which just lies so high.

If someone is afraid of your dog, pandemic or not, their personal fear is real.  The is no reason for anyone to believe a stranger who tells them the dog is friendly  We know people either are clueless or simply say what they want to be the truth vs the actual truth.

BK, I wish you had directed the Zoom version of Two by Two and that Hartley had done the sound. The score in context was more effective than it is on the album. But the sound quality was atrocious. One duet had no volume from the male actor at all. But it also meandered. This isn’t a top shelf show, largely because the book is too wordy and the whole thing should be more musical.

I watched a bit of the Two by Two thing - strictly amateur all the way, but that's what happens when people "think" this is easy and  "think" they can do it all. And for all of Walter's bitching about Danny Kaye over the years, he certainly was trying to do those cadences, at least it sounded like it to me.

I distinctly remember eating 4 slices of an extra large pizza pepperoni pie with sesame crust  (so half the pie)  between 9 and 10 pm (EST) on April 28, 1993

;D. I am more interested in how you remember the date.

I just signed up for an online training course to learn ASL. Over 75 hours of video content for less than $20.

I'm not sure when I'll have the time to learn, but it sounded intriguing.

That is something I would have liked to do with the kids when they were young.

I would imagine that the 3 million Early votes will lean towards the Democrats.
