Well, you've read the notes, the notes were thin, and now it is time for you to post until the thin cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: POLYGLOT!
-
I shan't be falling down the newspapers.com rabbit hole tonight.
-
Topic of the Day: I've never seen any of the Thin Man movies, but my dad was a fan. My niece is a fan of Myrna Loy and has a lot of her movies. Otherwise, everything I ever learned about the Thin Man movies, I learned from the cast recording of Nick & Nora.
;)

Well, after I got all of my invoicing done yesterday, I put together the reports so that the checks could be printed and the vendors paid. However, I just realized that Iforgot to e-mail the reports to the person who uses them to actually print the checks! :o Dopey me! So, I need to go to bed now so that I can get to work earlier than I normally do so that I can send them. I don't have access to my computer here at home, so I have to wait until I get to work, but it needs to be done.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
In the 1970s I read all of Dashiel Hammett's novels, and I remember nothing about The Thin Man, novel or movie, but I remember that I liked them both. I never saw any of the sequels.

MYRNA LOY
The Thin Man
Love Me Tonight
The Mask of Fu Manchu
Cheaper by the Dozen
WILLIAM POWELL

Good morning, all.

Where we used to have a driveway, there is now a 700-foot-long river of frozen slush.
If it had been deep slush, you probably couldn't even drive over it. But the driveway was plowed so it's a thin but nevertheless uneven rocky surface. We just treated it with yet another 50-pound bag of salt and even more sand.
Thankfully, the sun is out and will help with the thawing, but a real thaw will happen starting tomorrow when we enter an actual warming trend, thank the gods.
-
So, the slush is thin and so is the man. Unfortunately, that man is not me, either.
I need to rid myself of 15 or 20 of my own pounds, and I know it isn't going to be easy. The eating, of course, is the great challenge for one who's seriously addicted to it. But I also plan on getting out and getting active once we're out of this dastardly winter.
-
A Happy Birthday to you, DR Druxy!

A Happy Birthday to you, DR Druxy!
Thank you, ChasSmith!

Thank you, Bruce, for always remembering.
This one's a bit daunting.
The Big 80!

The rumor in the forums is that the criterion.com semiannual 24-hour flash sale will be kicking off today at noon, eastern.
If so, or whenever it does, I'm following through with my plan to get the humongous THE ESSENTIAL FELLINI set, and for dessert I'll order The Parallax View. There are always more things out there, but those are my absolute essentials this time around.
-
Hmm. Slow morning here?
I have a near non-existent relationship with The Thin Man, too. It seems like one of those classic movie things that everyone adores. But if I ever saw it, it would have been at a revival house or in a film festival back in the '70s or '80s, and in truth I really don't remember actually seeing it.
-
Happy Birthday to DR DRUXY!!!

That movie is so funny DR JOHNG.
I even like the remake EASY TO WED with Esther Williams, Van Johnson, Lucille Ball, and Keenan Wynn.

"What do you mean it won't be a real wedding? You say 'I do', I say 'I do', and the judge says 'You BET you do' and we're married!"
-
I just had a nice talk with our producer about Moonshine and Mistletoe and a possible TV holiday movie version. Fingers are crossed!

Got my Criterions purchased by 12:04, and by 12:02 the website was already getting hosed. Which is always the way at the beginning. But you don't want your choices to sell out because the sale is for stock on hand, so get in early.

Happy Birthday, DR Druxy!

Good Morning. Just got through singing with the K-kids. They always make the day better. Looks like I'll be headed to Walt Disney World in June with my co-worker and her family. We basically said it was time, we can do this. We'll be vaccinated, which adds a layer of protection, and we'll need to wear masks, but that's a small price to pay to get out of town, finally. Otherwise, it's business as usual!
-
DR JANE that was a very funny KEITH post last night.

Thanks. He keeps me laughing :)

Last night my feet were shockingly cold, like ice. It was amazing how quickly the fuzzy socks I found warmed me up. My low grade fever has not returned.
-
I did wake up with a migraine which is just now improving.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.

Happy Birthday, DR Druxy!
-
We have reached 48 degrees and the snow is melting!
-
Visitor came and went.
-
Had hot dogs for food.
-
Picked up a couple of packages and am now listening to music.
-
Continued vibes for DR JANE.
Thank you. I expect the worst is over even though it feels like I will have a nagging headache for at least another day.
-
Listening to an opera by Gounod - Cinq-Mars. Musically a little too old fashioned for my taste, but there are some appealing tunes and the interludes are nice. I don't know any of Gounod's music save for Funeral March of the Marionette, which, of course, was used as the famous them from Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
-
Happy Birthday to Druxy!
-
Fingers crossed for Elmore and M&M that sounds exciting!
-
It’s been a year now since we saw Mack &Mable and had dinner at the diner....
-
Vaccine recovery vibes for Jane
-
Thank you. I am getting there.
-
At least my arm doesn't bother me much.
-
Yep, it’s been a year since I had to MISS Mack & Mabel because of Smorgasbord! — the last show I’ve done (which at this moment seems more like ten years ago) — except for the one-off Assassins at the drive-in.
-
I love THE THIN MAN and think it is about time DR George watches it.

Have spent this entire day prepping the two new releases along with some frustrating spinning Mac wheels, which I hate.
-
Now listening to Massenet's Therese, which is very good. A short opera.
-
spinning Mac wheels
I am picturing whirling dervishes spinning plates of mac & cheese...

Happy Birthday DR Druxy!
-
They finally announced today that people over 70 can sign up for their vaccinations starting next week. No idea how long the wait will be. I probably won't be able to sign up for a long time. But at least things are happening.
-
We are not amused by the purse.
-
It seems to be all over the map, DR Jennifer. In Connecticut, on March 1 they'll start letting folks 55-64 get appointments.

I just dishes for the last 90 minutes. There was more than a week's worth.
-
There's a little more elbow room in the kitchen now.
-
Listening to k.d. lang helped.
-
Went out to dinner tonight to celebrate Joy's birthday. Half of the table had already had covid.
-
I still kept my distance as best I could.
-
Time to head home. I'm going to Costco first. Last year, I got a Costco credit card, and with the Costco credit card, you get a "reward certificate" (rebate/cash back) for most (all?) purchases! I just got my very first certificate and I want to spend it...we'll see if I actually do tonight, or if I'll save it. It expires on December 31, 2021, so I have a lot of time to think about it. :)
Be back later.

Good!! :o
-
And NOW I'm off to Costco!
-
The low tonight is supposed to be 61.
-
One week ago, it got down to 7.
-
That is wack.
-
And I am off to bed.
-
If it’s not too hot to sleep.
-
Onward
-
Five!
-
Finished with my viewing. Other than the hot dogs, which only added up to 650 calories, I had an English muffin and popcorn for snacks.
-
Finishing up the Massenet Therese opera, which I am really loving a lot.
-
Hope you are on the mend, DR Jane.
I am feeling pretty normal thank you.

Ditto!!
-
Hi, Jane.
-
I went to Costco tonight with my "rewards certificate" and bought...
-
...two, count 'em, TWO fire extinguishers for my house! ;D
-
I had three smaller ones that are way past their best-if-used-by date (or equivalent), so I figures that since this money is pretty much a rebate, I might as well get something that is more useful than superficial.
-
Smart purchase.
-
We have sprinklers in our ceiling.
-
I hope they never go off accidentally or for real
