Topic of the Day:  not really a fan of Cajun food.  I have had a Cajun Flounder Sandwich (https://www.popeyes.com/menu/picker-1bebf202-36d2-4eef-89b3-2bcd76ac3449) from Popeye's, and it was actually pretty good.  I know it's not "real" Cajun food...which is probably why I liked it. ::)

I was up at 5:30.  I have much to accomplish before I leaver here at 9:30 for my second Moderna vaccine. I hope it goes quickly and that I have little to no side effects.

Last night I watched another production of the ballet I watched the night before, Frederick Ashton's hilarious full-length rendition of Herold's 18th century ballet, La Fille mal gardée, with a score tarted up wonderfully by the late Royal Ballet conductor John Lanchberry, who was married to a Royal Ballet star, Elaine Fifield.

In the 1980s Kultur released a performance of the ballet from the 1970s with Leslie Collier and Michael Coleman, conducted by Lanchberry.  The DVD could use some cleanup, but it remains my favorite performance of the three I've seen. I watched this on Sunday night before the Kritzerland show.

Last night I watched the latest Blu-Ray with Royal Ballet star Steven McRae, which is quite good, only it's too dark. So many funny moments are lost because you cannot see what's going on, like the end of the storm that closes Act One. Frederick Ashton would have fired the current lighting designer at Covent Garden. The dancing's great, but I'm sticking with the adorable Collier and Coleman.

I probably haven't really had much in the way of authentic Cajun dishes, so much as food that's been seasoned with the ubiquitous Cajun spices and flavorings and gets called Cajun. If that makes any sense.

I love New Orleans and many other Southern foods, but except for those ubiquitous spices and flavorings, how many of those wonderful dishes have been authentic Cajun? I have no idea.  BK's catfish meal sounds great. I'm sure I'd like that and many other things.

Disclaimer:  I've never been attracted to crawfish and the handling/picking apart of them, so I've never been one to participate in the eating orgies of such things. I know that's one major component of good N.O./Cajun eating that I've been missing.

Just got news from my sister in Germany that her best friend died last night from cancer. Very upsetting for Brigitte, because she wasn’t able to spend any time with her because of covid restrictions.

I met Angi on several trips over there, spent quite a bit of time with her Christmas two years ago. She was good people.

There is a locally famous Cajum restaurant in my town called Zydeco's.

My friend former DR KURT - who now lives in New Orleans - took me there a couple of times.

He always asked: "Are the crawfish fresh?"

I don't remember much - but they do have good biscuits.

Oh My God.

And fried green tomatoes - or hell, fried red ones - WHO CARES, RIGHT?

And red beans and rice. Put it in front of me and I'll eat a pot of it right now.

I am happy to be vaccinated and home.  I got there early and there was no line. My appointment was for 10:45 but I was vaccinated and in their recovery by 10:39.  I also lucked out with two wonderful taxi drivers.

Born in Ohio, I was conceived in New Orleans. I have always wanted to visit the city and I would love to try Cajun food. BK's catfish and hush puppies sound deelish!

I seemed to have spelled it incorrectly.  A parti poodle is two toned.  The markings on the dog were different than this one.  I had trouble finding a photo of one without the horrid poodle cut.

As I was drifting off to sleep last night, I felt grateful that it was Thursday and after a long, hard week there was only one day to the weekend. Then I realized it was just Monday. I’m surprised I fell asleep after that.

I have spent many wonderful hours eating my way across New Orleans and the surrounding area. I also took a delicious cooking class (purely for tourists, I realize). I used to make a terrific jambalaya, using everything from ostrich to artichokes in the mix. Can’t eat it often anymore because of the rice not being diabetic friendly. But I will make gumbo with a little rice and a lot of okra.

I love it all. The po’boys, the fried okra, the oysters on the half shell, pralines, the beignets, the Cafe du Monde coffee, a Ramos gin fizz and a brandy milk punch.

I also love Creole food, which is French fare with a little Louisiana heat added occasionally. I particularly love the oyster artichoke soup served at Galatoire’s.

I went to the gasoline station.....$2.79 per gallon.....then to the bank to make a deposit.....big crowd....and then to Ollie's.

In their flyer last week they had an electronic scale that somehow also figures BMI and works with your blue tooth to remember your weights and other things.  I wanted to get one for my sister for her 50th birthday in April.

She always uses my electronic scale because it is accurate.....I also bought a nice 5'x7' brown rug since I decided I wanted my $539/$19 chair to stay in the computer room.

Good (almost) afternoon.  Busy morning - which has suddenly happened when I started teaching in person again!  I like it as it makes the day go by quicker.  The weather is very spring-like and it's totally beckoning for a bike ride, but as usual, I'm teaching all day. Music rehearsal for Easter this evening - 3 of us in person LOL.  Should be fun.

Had a conversation about the text - not terrible and will be fine, but it's just a pain in the butt cheeks that will happen towards the end of April - moving all the Kritzerland and my personal stuff to new storage because the helper is giving up her warehouse. We're looking around now for something that will be convenient for her mom, who actually does our shipping.

Interesting.  I've never heard of an .heic file extention!  When I went to the Microsoft Store (just to look), they had several apps that can convert to .jpg, but I can't add codecs to my work computer.

There used to be a restaurant here in Olympia where us theater folk would go after shows and they had deep fried pickle spears.  They were SO good!  I've never had deep fried pickle slices or the other items you mention, but I do miss the deep fried pickle spears.

Had a conversation about the text - not terrible and will be fine, but it's just a pain in the butt cheeks that will happen towards the end of April - moving all the Kritzerland and my personal stuff to new storage because the helper is giving up her warehouse. We're looking around now for something that will be convenient for her mom, who actually does our shipping.

Whew!  I know that moving in and out of storage can be quite the adventure (and not in the good way ::) ), but at least you have time.

I received some other news from Brigitte today. Her granddaughter Jessica had a baby boy named Loui. It’s Mom’s eighth great-great-grandchild.
