Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a Muse Margaret call, and now it is time for you to post until the calling cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HAIMISH!
-
BK, today is the 9th of the month. Shouldn’t you be finished with the book by now?
-
Congrats on Muse Margaret's call, BK!
-
I was literally just about to post this when yesterday's day closed, so I still had the link to Tom's post:
So, you left early?
Yup, shortly after the intermission ended and the second part of the evening started. It was loud and really there was nothing else for me to do. There were plenty of ushers, but since there were no programs or concessions, there wouldn't be much of anything to pick up after everyone left, so the house manager said that I could go. :)
-
Just before intermission, the emcee actually announce on stage to "go and enjoy concessions." We had to turn away quite a few people because we didn't set up concessions.

Somebody got their wires crossed.

Exactly! The house manager made a note to make sure that someone tells the emcee that there will still be no concessions for today's portions of the competitions.

My friend Margo and I were thinking about going to a movie today. We haven't decided which, so it'll be a surprise. We may go out to eat after (or possibly before), but either way, it's movie-and-a-meal day!
-
And now, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
That is all.
-
Good morning, all!

It was a weird night. I turned off the lights around 9:15, and spent the next two hours fighting sleep while romping kitties leaped over me, pursued each other across my bed and about the apartment. At one point there was the crash of something I have yet to discover. I don't know when things quieted down, but when I woke, it was nearly 2:00 a.m. At that point it was freezing in the apartment, and all three cats were occupying 3/4 of my bed.
-
I need to clean this place today while I finish the soup I began yesterday. I have to peel and slice a lot of potatoes.

Last night I tried to watch a new PBS British mystery, Miss Scarlett and the Duke. After 15 minutes I gave up.

My friend Ping gave me some of her beef stew yesterday. So, I have an abundance of beef stew now.

Slept too light last night.

I keep learning new rules. I didn’t know until today you could repeat letters.

Good morning, all.

Rain today, starting off as freezing rain then turning to regular later on
Two good things:
1. None of us has to go out today.
2. There's nothing you can do about it anyway, so no outdoors work.
I lied. Three things:
3. It's not ... you know.

Too anachronistic?
The creators know little to nothing of Victorian social customs. It's one more from the "let's dress up and pretend we're in another period" school of writing.
-
So finally it's really a Sunday. It's been a nice non-three-day-weekend three-day weekend.
-
No plans today except to continue learning How to Succeed.
For me, and I might be alone in this, Mr. Loesser's scores always sound more obvious and "easy" than they actually are, harmony-wise, etc. It's very gratifying to get the chords and all into my ears and fingers.

I found it fun, but the overuse of the color blue was irritating. They even changed green carnations to blue for some unknown reason.

Two!

DOesn't it seem like there ought to be a Kritzerland show or something going on today? :)

Hello everyone! There's a brand new Broadway Radio Show up on the site...the 3rd and final show looking at the best of 2021. The last 2 shows covered the best Vocalist and Cast Recordings and this new one highlights the best of the rest from last year. Enjoy!!!

I am up, fully rested, somewhat restored, and looking forward to a Zoom chat today.
Now...if I could only get dressed.
-
I would love to give you all an account of what I did yesterday, but...I forget.

I went there and tried to play. I don't get how it is supposed to work. I got one letter on the first row but it was in the wrong place. What do you do from there? I tried combos of all remaining letters in the second row and NONE were in the wordle.
-
HA!

So happy to hear Muse Margaret's reactions to the new tome.
Congrats to MR BK. As Joan Crawford said to William Faulkner when she met him at a Hollywood party and he mentioned that MGM had assigned him to one of her movies:
"Write hard, Mr. Faulkner. Write hard!"

My sister locked her keys in the unattached garage this morning. I went over to help her retrieve them....it was not easy.
Finally I used a screwdriver the jimmy the door open.....I have a new profession.

The Men's Long Program for the U.S. Ice Skating Championships are on NBC today at 2 p.m.
I think I will watch them although I don't like a lot of the commentary which is always the same old praise praise praise for some mediocre and inflated ego gentlemen.....
And I have a 4 p.m. ZOOM meeting wherein we will discuss the COVID policy for the upcoming season. I think it's a bit early - but who am I? We can plan but I don't think we need to PUBLISH it quite yet.

From DR Singdaw:
I haven't had a good wild rice in a long time.
I thought you lived in the land of the best wild rice.

Dwayne Hickman has died.

Good afternoon!
-
DR Ginny mentioned she got extra bananas in her order. When I went to Giant supermarket the other day not one banana was to be found.

Rainy day in the Washington, DC area.
-
Dwayne Hickman has died.
That is sad.

Reading Klara and the Sun, which I know you didn't overly care for, Jane. My big problem is that it's just not as good as Ian McEwan's Machines Like Me. For being a story told by a machine, it's also overly manipulative.
But since I'm halfway through, I will probably finish it.
-
I think my tooth is going to be a problem this afternoon. It's starting to plan its attack.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I can't do much more of this not enough sleep - I know me and I'll get sick and no it won't be Covid and we have the Kritzerland show coming up. I was in bed by three and could not fall asleep. Up at four-thirty, back in bed by five and asleep at some point for maybe five hours. And tomorrow is worse because the handyman is coming early.
-
Visitor has arrived.

Sunday afternoon greetings!
The Men's Long Program for the U.S. Ice Skating Championships are on NBC today at 2 p.m.
…
I’ve enjoyed a lot of the nationals the past few days.

DR Ginny mentioned she got extra bananas in her order. When I went to Giant supermarket the other day not one banana was to be found.
Bananas were probably pretty scarce at our Kroger after they packed our order Friday afternoon.

I did finish it. I will be curious to know if you like it less or better after reading to the end. I haven't read McEwan's book. I did not like Atonement and never read anything else by him.
-
I do, DR Jane. The fault is entirely mine. 8)

I loved Atonement and have liked quite a few others of his books.

Yes, DR John G. That was a surprise today.

Thanks for the heads up, DR JRand71. I just may take in some of the skating routines.

Let's see if I can take a nap.

all three cats were occupying 3/4 of my bed.

Hello from the Land of Runny Noses!
I am somewhat less miserable today than yesterday. I'm hoping tomorrow is better still.
-
I placed an emergency Amazon Prime order for more kleenex. I have a spare box here, but they're very coarse and my nose is just too tender at this point for that. Need soft tissues!
-
Since I can't say whether this is Covid or just a bad cold, I'm following the Covid guidelines and isolating for five days.

Bruce, I read SOME DAYS ARE MURDER the first week I had it.

Visitor has left the premises. Book dealer - he bought a few things. While he was perusing, I managed to do all my futzing and finessing - this was the second time in this book where I wrote a character horribly, then, while tossing and turning, figured out what it should be, made notes, and then today completely rewrote that whole sequence. It's so much more fun now and the change allowed me to add all kinds of detail to it. Since I got ahead last night, I only have ten more pages to write today, so that's good. I've written one new page, am going into a little sequence that will be pretty easy and will take up a few pages, and I know what comes after that, so that will probably comprise today's writing. I do hope to watch something at some point, and I'm going to try and be through with the writing by ten, so I can do the notes and get in bed right after I post them.
-
And now I must figure out food.
-
It's been a hell of a day. When I came in from the basement, as I wrestled with the walker, Stella ran between my legs and the walker's to run into the hall. I closed the door, thinking, Stupid cat. I'll let you play for 15 minutes before I hunt you down. I had the large Dutch oven boiling awat, and I dragged out the potatoes, pans, knife, and peeler. The potatoes went into the pot and I created a second pot I intended to turn into stew. I went back to the table and began to chop celery to go in last. It was just past 10:00.
-
I threw in the chopped carrots and when they and the potatoes were cooked, I added frozen peas. When I felt the three pots were cooked, I turned off the heat and tossed the celery into all. I'd let the heat in the broth cook the celery just enough. I also put a mix of water and cornstarch into the stew to thicken it. At 1:00, I had a large vat of soup and a pot of chicken stew for myself and a pot of soup for Ann and Jen.
-
Then I got the Dustbuster to vacuum the cat's food area and the mess they had created last night. I wondered, where are Annabelle and Stella? Then I remembered: three hours ago she ran into the hall. I set down the Dustbuster, grabbed my cane, and ran out to the hall. I called for her and there was no response. Usually, when she's lost, she bellows at the top of her lungs. I rode the elevator to ther fifth floor and called for her, same thing on four, all the way to the basement. My neighbor Judy heard me, and she joined the search. Then MaryAnne on five joined us. I believed that no response meant one of three things: she was in the building in someone's apartment, someone had hurt her, or someone had let her out of the building onto the street. Michael, who lives on four came in, and said when he went out Stella was sitting in front of the elevator.
-
Judy and MaryAnne went outside and walked up and down 82nd Street. I called Ann and Jen, who were at Zabar's with Ann's goddaughter. They said they would look for her on their walk back. I soon had give ladies on the search. I put on my winter clothes yo go outside with the walker and call for her. She really didn't know the voices of the ladies and I thought she might recognize mine.
-
Judy told me I should put Annabelle in her carrier and take her with me. I said I could do the walker and carrier and cat and survive the stairs. She said she would come with me and she carried Annabelle's carrier. As soon as we got to the first floor, Annabelle started pissing and moaning loudly. I thought I heard Stella answer. I called her name, and she bellowed back. I said to Judy, she's on the first floor. Just then Ann, Jen and goddaughter arrived and helped me up the stairs to the lobby. Judy found Stella under the first floor stairs - where we had all looked - and carried her up to my apartmet. We all relaxed, and I am in a huge soup cleanup.
-
And......then.......
-
Four pages and food is arriving in a minute or so - California Pizza Kitchen's roasted garlic chicken pizza. Then only six pages to go after that and I'll hopefully get those done after lunch and then after watching something, maybe do two or three more.
-
Whew! Good news!
-
DR JANE my uncle had one key to the garage.....so that's what we ended up with....and since my sister has been the only one to go in there - no problem.
We replaced the jimmied lock with the second of the doorknobs we used for the back door. Now my sister and I each have a key to the garage AND the back door.
-
Well the ice skating was nice.....and we ended up with Nathan Chinny Chin Chen, Vincent Zhou, and new guy Ilia something or other......Jason Brown - who I really don't like and who Johnny Weir praises to the skies for his "artistry" is in 4th.
I hope the committee just sends the top three to the Olympics.....Jason can stay home.
-
I am most relieved that Stella has been found. And that there's plenty of chicken soup.
-
I started to watch the skating, but then found a nap beckoning. So I hit "record" and will watch the rest later.

Yes, Jason Brown missed his quad jump, but I thought his choreography was more fluid and graceful than a few of the others.

Jack, I am not exactly sure who the mediocre and inflated ego gentlemen who receive the same old praise, praise, praise might be, but I watched the Men’s Long Program today and I thought Nathan Chen was great.

Ditto and Ditto! But wow.. what an adventure, Larry!
-
Well, I need to get ready for the movie and the meal. Since Margo's house is on the way to the movie theater, I'll pick her up and we'll ride together.
Be back later!
-
Have a nice evening. I want to know what you had for dinner.
-
Whew! I'm so glad you found Stella.

Have fun, DR George. Sounds like an ideal outing.

I'm jealous.

Or perhaps an ice giraffe...

DR TCB GOOD VIBES WITH THE ORTHOPEDIST SURGEON TOMORROW!

Bob Saget has died. He was only 65.

I remember the movie he directed, FOR HOPE, based on his sister's battle with scleroderma :(
-
I'm glad Stella is safe and sound.

I made the mashed potatoes with the egg in it. It doesn't need it, IMO. But the mashed potatoes went well with the beef stew.

Starting to watch Dear Evan Hansen.

I'm not liking it.

'night
-
Good night, friends.
-
I think it's time to turn this off for the night. Only so much depression in one evening. And all of the songs sound depressingly the same in the movie. They have slightly more life on the cast album, but not much.
-
Bob Saget has been found dead.
-
I’m now listening to a tuneful musical. Dearest Enemy. By a couple of kids called Rodgers and Hart. Luscious stuff. Ear candy. Balm for the soul.

I just realized that the shirt I wore yo Bible study tonight is inside out. Oy.

Let’s move on…

Five!

Hooray, we’re going to be compromised!

Three more pages to write. I took an extended break but didn't watch anything.

I hope your cast stays off.
Thank you.
-
Have a nice evening. I want to know what you had for dinner.
We went to The Rock Wood Fired Pizza. Margo had the small White Christmas pizza (Mozzarella cheese, Romano cheese, Ricotta cheese, Swiss cheese, garlic, cream sauce) and I had the Burger Man burger (All beef patty, bacon, chipotle seasoning, Jack cheese, pickles, fried onions, chipotle mayo. Served with Beer Battered Fries).
-
It was all quite delish! We both really enjoyed what we ordered. :)
-
They also had the Impossible Burger, so there were vegetarian burger options.
-
The White Christmas pizza is vegetarian. Margo isn't, but she just wanted to try that one and found that she really liked it.
-
Have fun, DR George. Sounds like an ideal outing.
Thanks, it was! And we both really liked the movie!

Bob Saget has died. He was only 65.
I saw that. :( He was one of the good ones.
-
Oh...when we go to movies, Margo and I always stay and watch the all end credits. I don't remember if it was in the beginning or end credits where they showed "Conceived by Jerome Robbins" or something like that, but as the credit were going by, to me it looked like it was spelled "Conoeived". :o
-
I know that it really couldn't have been misspelled, but I know that in the moment, that's what it looked like.

I think there is.

I'm quite sure there is.

Anyone seen Charles Boyer around here (a Gaslighting reference).

Shazam!

That did the trick.
