Well, you've read the notes, the notes were effusive, and now it is time for you to post until the effusive cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CIRCUMSTELLAR!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
~~~Excellent Vibes and Xylophones for BK and Everyone to Stay Healthy!!~~~
-
Topic of the Day: I don't think I've ever read a true crime book, but I've probably seen some true crime movies...I just can't think of any right now. ::)
-
Just watched about twenty minutes of Anything Goes - horrible new book - why would anyone let John Weidman near anything that had to be funny? And a musical with one song in twenty minutes of dreary, unfunny exposition.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am about to begin the laundry. Oy!
There's a lot of it.
-
I had a rather good night of sleep. It was so warm in the apartment that I spent most of the night sleeping under a sheet and nothing else.
-
{{{Hugs, DR TCB!}}}
-
It's either my new keyboard or the new mouse, but this computer is wonky this morning and I am not pleased.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I woke up at 2:30 am hearing sleet falling and blowing against the windows.
Even though it's over 40 now, what's left on the ground under this overcast isn't going anywhere. It's only an inch or so, but a white, wet, heavy, slick, crusty mess.
-
Maybe I'll think of some more adjectives later.
-
Monday, Monday
So good to me
Monday mornin'
Could be all I hope it will be
Oh Monday mornin'
Monday mornin' couldn't guarantee
That Monday evenin' would still be a joy to see
(Serious apologies to John Phillipa and The Mamas and the Papas).
-
Good vibrations to all who need them!!!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I have been to the doctors and am home again already.
-
Wherein, not to be too gruesome, but I had to have 2 toenails removed due to infection.
-
They were already falling off - I didn't even need to be numbed.
-
But I haven't been able to exercise for over a month.
-
Well, moving forward now.
-
Glad that bk's newest book has met with Muse Approval™.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Hugs, TCB.
Foot vibes for Singdaw.
Monday vibes for us all.
Looks like I have a milestone in a few posts.
-
Let’s move on …
-
Two!
-
I need to start the day …
-
But first … !
-
DR John G. - CONGRATULATIONS on your lofty new perch in the HHW firmament!
-
:)
-
Good morning!
-
That's hilarious, DR singdaw!
-
Hugs to TCB.
-
Congrats on your milestone, DR JohnG!
-
Monday morning greetings! We got a little more snow than we expected, so we’re deferring our 41st anniversary celebration to tomorrow. Our plans are not elaborate - just shopping at Target and a late lunch at The Cheesecake Factory.
-
{{{{{Hugs}}}}} for DR TCB.
-
:)
Great one.
-
TOD:
I’m sure there are more, but these are the biggest that come to mind:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Devil in the White City
In Cold Blood
-
Good morning.
-
Hugs to TCB. That's such an awful story.
-
Congrats to MR BK on the book and the Muse reaction!
I went to OLLIE'S this morning because I had a 15% a purchase coupon.
I bought some floodlights to replace the one that is burned outside...some multiple vitamins....some mixed nuts....and some ranch/bacon dressing. I got $1.20 off my nuts.
Then I stopped by Goodwill and found a couple of books and a nice sports jacket - that will have to be pressed, but it fits very well. And shirt and tie.
That's the kind of shopping I like -- with ranch on top.
There was an old lady from Brunswick
Who ordered her stew with just one click.
The driver was late;
She stared at her plate.
"This stew is so cold it becomes thick!"
-
Inspired by DR Ron Pulliam.
Apologies...
Hot chocolate "bombs" were a thing, and now apparently so are broth "bombs." Immerse in liquid, and BOOM.
-
I finished the laundry around 10:30, finished tidying the apartment, lay down with the cats, and napped until 12:30. The laundry is put away and I'm pondering my next move.
Whaaaaat?
From Ron:
People have been wondering on FB whether local schools will be closed tomorrow because of the potential for ice hazards. The answer is YES, schools WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW because it's a federal holiday. MLK Jr. Day, to be precise.
I mean, honestly, the kids already know that. Why would their parents be asking if there might be a different reason for it?
That is funny, kind of. I can't remember where I saw a similar comment and wondered the same thing.
DR TCB if I knew, I didn't recall that you had been trying to reach your mother with good news. Sending hugs.
A friend just sent me this article:
Amy Schneider’s more than $1.1 million in ‘Jeopardy!’ winnings will come with a hefty tax bill (https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/15/amy-schneiders-jeopardy-winnings-will-come-with-a-hefty-tax-bill.html).
-
But, it's a good problem to have. ;)
It's not great, but they do land a zinger against Oscar Hammerstein:
Yup. People don't realize if you win the lottery you will be lucky to receive half of the amount you win.
-
But, it's a good problem to have. ;)
Yup :)
-
I am soooo excited.
-
They will be here soon.
-
And, to my relief I still only have allergies.
-
I looked to see if the Children's museum in Portland was open during covid. Sadly it is permanently closed.
-
They will be here soon.
Have fun!
I’m a little jealous…
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine and a half hours of sleep.
They will be here soon.
Thanks and I know the feeling. I have friends that see that grandchildren several times a week.
-
Soon ;D
-
They stopped at a bakery.
-
Five minutes more :) :) :)
-
Enjoy your visit, DR Jane.
-
:)
-
James Marsden has apparently dropped $1.8 million on an Austin home.
-
Enjoy your visit, DR Jane.
Enjoy it.
-
I was in bed at two-thirty and no active brain syndrome so I fell asleep immediately.
-
Catching up on stuff.
-
Rehearsal begins at three and I may have to go out and get something to tide me over, unless I just have some potato chips or something.
-
That's too bad.
Ditto!! ;D
-
A lull.
-
That's llul, spelled backward.
-
Well, no one can say we didn't get to page four.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Oh a whim, I decided to go see the Betty White Birthday memorial special at the movies.
-
I first wanted to go out just to get out of the house, so I went to Taco Bell.
-
I brought my Kindle and read a couple of chapters of my book while eating in the Taco Bell.
-
Then, I decided to see when the Betty White special was playing, and one showing was going to be in 20 minutes, so I came to the theater, bought my ticket, and now I'm sitting here waiting for it to start.
-
They're showing Betty White trivia screens now, before the movie starts.
-
Until later!
-
Sounds like fun, George. I'd like a fuller report later.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
I had a dance lesson at 3 p.m. today. When I got to the studio, I ran into a friend whom I hadn't seen since his wife died in 2019.
-
Turns out Jim caught covid and was hospitalized for five months. This was about 18 months ago. He said this first 12 days in the ICU are a complete blank to him. It was only after that, when he started to get better, that he can remember what happened.
-
Turns out that he was laid up for so long that he couldn't remember how to walk easily when he was finally able to get on his feet.
-
So, now he has a trainer helping him regain his strength and some lung power.
-
And he's been using my teacher, Jack, to learn how to regain his balance. Jim had been a dance student for years, which is where we met. His wife was one of Jack's students.
-
Very nice to see him again. I hope that he's able to regain more of his health.
-
I finished reading Elena Ferrante's The Lost Daughter today. I loved the book, which makes me nervous about the film version. I know BK was not a fan. I'm curious, but seeing it isn't a necessity for me.
-
The book shared many themes that were in Ferrante's Neapolitan novels, though this was much shorter. And I liked the unapologetic depiction of the leading character, warts and all, for being true to herself. Granted, the novel was in first person, so she was able to explain her actions, sometimes despite a lack of reason behind them.
Hello, 0 guests.
-
Whither all this evening?
-
I am beginning to fade.
-
I won't be able to push us to page five.
-
Good night, all.
-
Monday is over.
Tuesday is upon me here in SC.
-
My day of holiday indolence was a major success, if I say so myself.
I cooked myself a pot of pinto beans.
I baked myself a pan of corn bread.
I dined upon both southern delights.
That was lunch. I was very happy with it.
-
I have new plans to attend a brunch next Sunday at Christine's Farm to Fork.
Am looking forward to it, weather permitting!
-
I see 6 guests are lurking.
Whatever can that mean?
-
My day has ended and dreamland beckons.
Ta-ta.
-
I'm back.
-
But first...
-
Long rehearsal, but so much fun. Great songs, the kids are great and were very much on top of things.
-
Just before it, I had a couple of crunchy tacos from Taco Bell.
Betty White: A Celebration (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16842060/?ref_=nm_flmg_slf_1) was really good.
-
We didn't finish until about 7:45. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries from Kluckin' Chicken and began catching up on my major scene I had to write for the project with David Wechter - he's been patient, because I really couldn't do any writing on it until I was done with the new book. But I got the entire scene done - basically a four-page monologue. I think it came out pretty well.
-
Enjoy your visit, DR Jane.
Thank you, I am.
-
Thanks, I am tired though.
Thanks.
It was obviously filmed before she died...according to the IMDb listing, it was "Edited from Betty White: First Lady of Television (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8780234/?ref_=tt_trv_cnn)," which was from 2018.
-
Very nice to see him again. I hope that he's able to regain more of his health.
Good vibes to him.
-
DR Ron the photo on FB of your cornbread and beans looked delicious.
-
There were several people in the documentary that have since passed away...Georgia Engel, Gavin MacLeod, Mary Tyler Moore, and Alex Trebek.
-
But it was really good and mostly upbeat. Only a few people mentioned her in the past tense, so they must've filmed their segments shortly after she died.
-
'night
-
The IMDb listing also lists Lin-Manuel Miranda, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Robert Redford under the "Top Cast" of the program, but I don't remember any of them in this...not even in archival footage. :-\
-
Good night, Jane...and congrats on reaching your very lofty firmament! ;D
DR TCB if I knew, I didn't recall that you had been trying to reach your mother with good news. Sending hugs.
I had called my mom on Friday when I found out about the new job. My sister and I talked on Sunday morning, and she said we should all go out to lunch to celebrate, since we both had Monday off.
-
So, that is when I started calling my mom to see if she had plans.
-
I think I forgot to thank someone for the good wishes and hugs, but I have gone back through all the posts and can’t find it. I apologize if I missed anyone.
-
Anyway, it was a long time ago, but it still hurts. Thank you all.
-
Let’s get off this page.
-
S I X !
-
Tonight I watched THE PAJAMA GAME. I always enjoyed the stage version, but the movie seemed to be a piece of fluff.
-
Granted, most musicals of that era are basically fluff, but this one had my mind wandering.
-
It is always great to see Doris Day in anything.
-
John Raitt, not so much.
-
I remember now who I wanted to thank. I wanted to thank BK for his kind words last night.
