Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fascinating and had purpose, and now it is time for you to post until the fascinating cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: MYSTIQUE!
-
That's pretty cool about the interview today! Since I'm home (even if I'm working), I should be able to watch/listen to it.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Yesterday was one of the worst and most humiliating days of my life. I can only hope today is much better.
-
I woke this morning to Annabelle vomiting on the floor and Stella shredding paper towels. And I had a truly rotten night of sleep.
-
The only good things about yesterday was Access-a-Ride. When it goeas smoothly, great. I hope today goes well.
-
For those of us for whom there is never a day without "follies" of some sort:
It's an Al Hirschfeld rendering: Fifi D'Orsay, Ethel Shutta, Alexis Smith, Dorothy Collins, Mary McCarty and Yvonne de Carlo (unless I have misidentified anyone).
-
And a gracious good morning, all!
-
My greeting includes the "1 guest" perusing the site.
-
I am pleased to report that I had 7-plus hours of sleep.
That's the best in quite some time.
-
And that's the truth. Every last word of it!
I swear!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning everyone. I hope everybody is good.
-
Big damned nor'easter heading our way, for Friday (probably pm) and all day Saturday.
Hell's bells.
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.
-
I am hoping for today to be a good one, DR Elmore.
-
Another night with two crazy dreams, one at 2:50 am, the other sometime early this morning.
Not as big and crazy as the night before, though. But stuff, I swear, I don't know how or where I come up with it.
-
People have been telling me I'd like this, so yesterday, finally, a few years after the fact, I picked up Kristi's DVD set of The Orville Season 1 and watched the first three episodes.
And yes, I do like it. Very much. I shall watch another three today.
Also -- those who said it wouldn't matter if you haven't been a Trekkie and you don't have to know anything about Star Trek to appreciate this (because I asked) -- they're right. I never have been of that persuasion, and yes I can recognize the basic setup of the show, but after that, everything stands on its own and is very enjoyable.
-
I have a tab open for BK's interview this evening (5pm right coast time), but I see that all of this guy's interview videos are there to watch, so if I need to be out shopping or something right then, it can be seen later.
-
Those Hewlett Packard bastards have raised the price of their ink cartridges for my printer from $39.95 to 59.95. The total cost to order one? $65.00+
-
Good morning, all.
-
I don’t want to stir today. But I must.
-
The Hewlett Packard Bastards needs to be the name of a sports team.
-
I have a large Epson color inkjet printer that I keep putting off replacing the cartridges for because every time I look at the price I say "Hell with it. Later."
-
The Hewlett Packard Bastards needs to be the name of a sports team.
Definitely. I’m thinking rugby.
-
TCB, you asked why I thought parts of Tango Shalom were embarrassing. The ethnic humor was too stereotypical (all blacks are into rap and are Muslims and hector white people on the sidewalk while being lazy). Plus, too much of it was sloppily staged, so that some of the scenes didn’t rise to a sitcom level.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
8)
-
Super vibes for DR ELMORE!
-
I am waiting for my Canon printer to bite the dust so that I can get one of those Epson printers.....but I need a SMALL one. Not much room on my desk.
-
A propos yesterday's discussion:
-
Page Two.
-
TWO!!
-
There IS an echo in here! :)
-
{{{HUGS}}} and ~~~VIBES~~~ for DR elmore3003 and for DR TCB and for DR George!
-
bk, loved the new song in today's notes.
-
It sounds like the interview today will be archived for viewing later, which is a good thing.
-
A propos yesterday's discussion:
This is why I don’t use a printer.
-
bk, loved the new song in today's notes.
We need more songs that reference Jell-O.
-
I almost meant that.
-
I was going to mention the forecast for the nor'easter on Friday/Saturday on the East Coast.
-
I was going to mention the forecast for the nor'easter on Friday/Saturday on the East Coast.
Nooooo!!!
-
I’ve been in meetings since the beginning of the day. When can I get my work done?
-
From DR Ron:
I am happy to report I am seeing far more people wearing masks hereabouts than not. That was not true last week or the few months before.
That's nice.
-
We have been seeing more people wearing masks on our walking path, even when it isn't busy. Odd is when they are couples who probably don't wear them at home.
-
Thanks for the info George. Knowing I inform the state vs county is helpful. Hopefully we won't need this information.
-
I just mentioned to Keith about informing the Health Department and he thought you were supposed to inform your doctor. George, did you let your doctor know?
-
From George:
One of the options for my new car is a battery heater. I didn't choose it. I've never had any trouble starting a car in cold weather...opening the car doors, yes, but not starting it once I got in.
It rarely gets that cold in our part of Washington, and I don't think in your part. What is the coldest weather you remember?
-
George I am glad you were able to work from home, and I bet your supervisor was glad you live close to work ;)
Do they pay you for the day or the hours you work?
-
DR Jennifer if you have to wear masks outside where it isn't crowded, that is excessive. Can you take masks off in restaurants once you sit down?
-
I love that off-road scooter.
-

I wish the show would return.

Groan.

Oh no.

Big damned nor'easter heading our way, for Friday (probably pm) and all day Saturday.
Hell's bells.
Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.
The hells of hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling for you, but not for me
And the little devils have a sing-a-ling-a-ling for you, but not for me
Oh, death, where is thy sting-a-ling-a-ling and grave thy company
The bells of hell go ting-a-ling-a-ling for you, but not for me

I don’t want to stir today. But I must.
Perhaps it should be shaken and not stirred?

I received a 6-pound box of Honeybelle oranges today.
They are so-o-o-o good!
-
I also got my Blu ray disc of Hitchock's "Stage Fright" in today's mail.
-
I want to do things that need doing for some reason. It must be because of all that sleep I got.

It is a gloriously beautiful afternoon here today.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
I am finally home. Access-a-Ride was 30 minutes late, and I am very very happy to be home.
-
I don’t want to stir today. But I must.

You got it.

Happily, yes.
-
Glad to hear it, DR elmore3003!

Eatin' oranges and watchin' Hitchcock. Sounds like a plan!
-
Not necessarily in that order.

Ordered through QVC, but shipped by Harry & David.

Yessir!!

I ordered Honeybelles a year ago, and they were so very good I wished I had placed them on auto-delivery. Of course, they are only available once a year, but on auto, you get the set price from the year before.
I also discovered oranges at CostCo under the brand Cara Cara. Oof ! Those are great oranges, too.

Cara cara is an orange-grapefruit hybrid. Love ‘em. They’re also a beautiful, big bird seen in these parts.

I had to look them up. Fortunately for you I won't be stealing any of them ;)

Meeting 716 for the day. The bank president, who must make 20 times what I do, kept pronouncing the name of the new covid variant as AH-me-crumb.
My response: Ah, he dumb.

It is a gloriously beautiful afternoon here today.
I just came in from a walk, 43 degrees and sunny. It was very pretty along the river.

I found it odd when people sent us gifts of Harry & David when we lived 20 minutes from there.

Wednesday afternoon greetings! Richard had his LAST burn clinic appointment this morning!!! NP Erin released him and complimented my work as his home health nurse. We went to Scrambler Marie’s for a celebratory brunch and I’ve taken a nap.

Jane, if you were nearby, I'd gladly share them with you!

Does he have residual tenderness or has it all subsided?
-
It is now getting dark outside. I think I miss DST!
-
And on that note...

I have nearly all my tax information together. Just a couple of more statements from companies with whom I hold stock, and i can get my CPA working on my 2021 ransom.

DR Ron, he says it still feels a little “tight” and Erin said to keep putting moisturizing cream on it. He also has to avoid ever getting it sunburned, because she said that would make his foot turn purple. Fortunately we’re not “fun in the sun” kind of people.

I was going to insert some sort of purple-people eater joke here, but I’m just too exhausted to think of one.
-
Good news for DR GINNY & DH RICHARD certainly worth a celebration.
Cara cara.....I shall see if those are available in my area.
-
I am home from the house closing and it is indeed closed - SO one down and one to go.
-
My look a like nephew is getting married in Vermont on Friday afternoon. So we have been sent a Zoom link for the ceremony.
We have orders that as many people as possible should watch from one address.....so we shall see what we shall see.
I suppose I should send a congratulatory check tomorrow so it will be at their house in Greencastle when they return.
-
The Amazing Race continues tonight.
-
Since I just got home, I missed MR BK's podcast - so perhaps it will be archived.
-
Now I want to eat.
I wonder how DR VIXMOM's trip is going.....or was she leaving Friday?
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Good evening!
-
I watched the podcast, Bruce! It was a great interview!
-
Has anyone read Empire of Pain? It’s fascinating how money corrupted the Sackler family.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Good news from DR Ginny! You've both earned a celebration, I'm sure.
I'd stay away from purple people eaters just the same.
-
A couple hours ago I placed an order with Uber Eats, using a 30%-off coupon I received this morning. An hour and fifteen minutes later they had still not found a driver. I finally managed to cancel the order, but they don't make it easy. I submitted the same order to Grubhub and had it 20 minutes later. And I was HUNGRY!
-
I love that off-road scooter.
I like it, too.
-
DR George, how are you feeling? Do you know how long you'll be working from home? Do you need a negative Covid test to return?
-
I am home from the house closing and it is indeed closed - SO one down and one to go.
Congrats on completing that step. Do you expect to find a buyer for the next house as quickly?
-
Has anyone read Empire of Pain? It’s fascinating how money corrupted the Sackler family.
I'd rephrase that to: it's disgusting how money corrupted the Sackler family.
-
I shall now look for BK's interview.
TTFN.

Wednesday afternoon greetings! Richard had his LAST burn clinic appointment this morning!!! NP Erin released him and complimented my work as his home health nurse. We went to Scrambler Marie’s for a celebratory brunch and I’ve taken a nap.
This is wonderful news. I am glad it doesn't hurt anymore.

Jane, if you were nearby, I'd gladly share them with you!
Easy to say when I don't want any ;) The description I read is that they are a cross between a tangerine & grapefruit, neither of which I like.
-
The name Honeybelle makes the oranges sound very sweet and tempting.

Has anyone read Empire of Pain? It’s fascinating how money corrupted the Sackler family.
No. We did watch the mini series Dopesick about how the family and Purdue Pharma pushed OxyContin onto the public.
>:( >:(
-
Last night we watched the final episode of The Kominsky Method. I highly recommend this 3 season series. The cast is fantastic, especially Michael Douglas, Alan Arkin, and Kathleen Turner.
-
Has anyone read Empire of Pain? It’s fascinating how money corrupted the Sackler family.
I'd rephrase that to: it's disgusting how money corrupted the Sackler family.
It is that, too. I’m repulsed more and more as each chapter passes. And I hang on every word.
-
Nothing like a bit of repulsion to keep one intrigued.
-
I have showered, shampooed, shaved and donned clean togs.
I have nowhere to go tonight, but I am ready if something comes up.
-
Am watching "The Egg and I" on TCM. Total hilarity.
-
We haven't watched that in a long time.
-
One of my mother’s favorite movies.
-
I’m watching Claudette Colbert, too. It’s a pre-Code flick called Torch Singer. She plays an unwed mother who has to put her baby up for adoption, then she becomes famous as a singer. Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger did the score.
-
I had the great pleasure to see Colbert with Rex Harrison, Lynn Redgrave, Jeremy Brent and George Rose in Aren’t We All? It was magical.
-
Back from choir and groceries.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Back from choir and groceries.
Together?
Won't it be perfectly swell.

I was able to listen to it while I was working (from home) today. Quite enjoyable!
-
I just mentioned to Keith about informing the Health Department and he thought you were supposed to inform your doctor. George, did you let your doctor know?
Not directly...at least, not yet. When I logged into Kaiser's website, I indicated that I got a positive test, but because it was a home test, it won't show in my profile.
-
I'll have to figure out how to contact my doctor.
-
The interview is archived if you use the link.

It rarely gets that cold in our part of Washington, and I don't think in your part. What is the coldest weather you remember?
Years ago (I forget how many), we had a storm that was so cold that everything was covered in a layer of ice. I think I lost power for either three or four days. I only remember that happening once.
-
George I am glad you were able to work from home, and I bet your supervisor was glad you live close to work ;)
Do they pay you for the day or the hours you work?
I use sick leave for the time I couldn't work (before I got the laptop), and regular salary hours for the time that I work.
-
So, I'll get my full paycheck whether I work or if I'm too sick to work.

Personally, I think you should send them a photo of a check.
-
DR George, how are you feeling? Do you know how long you'll be working from home? Do you need a negative Covid test to return?
I'll stay home tomorrow and Friday (and won't play cards on Friday, either), but I'll try to get a test this weekend so that I can go back to work on Monday...assuming the test is negative.
-
I'm pretty sure that we have to have a negative test to return to work.

There have been 13 fires in Tacoma in the last 24 hours. Several of them were in the Central area of Tacoma, but there was one grouping of three fires in the North end of Tacoma and next door in Ruston.
-
I heard about this on the tv news this evening, and it sent me on to the internet looking to find the information, even though I somehow knew what I would find.
-

I'd heard about that. >:(

And, sure enough, one of the fires was in a three-story apartment building in the 5000 block of North Pearl Street. Yep, that would be my home sweet home for the last twenty years.
