Last night, I went to see a play called Falling at Olympia Little Theatre, that featured several friends of mine in the cast. It's about a family with an adult son who has autism and what they go through while dealing with his issues. It was a wonderful cast in a great production. It was very intense but didn't outstay its welcome as it only lasted about an hour and had no intermission. Highly recommended if it's ever produced in your area.

Today, it's back to work, then card playing at my mom's. Tomorrow, I'm going to a co-worker's house for a barbecue because she and her husband bought a new house! So, we're going to celebrate! ;D

DR singdaw, I don't know if the City of Middletown approved the sale or if they've been silent and their moment has passed. The property also passed inspection for any possible liens or other issues. What worries me, since I now have two more weeks of anxiety over the sale, is that something will happen to kibosh the sale.

DR TCB, the Pacific Northwest Ballet is indeed at lincoln Center. They toiur with their own 60-piece orchestra, and Doug had to leave our breakfast to help wioth the daily Covid testing.

Last night we did a bit of dancing and one of the new brothers grabbed a partner and did an impressive polka.....the other new brother is on a crutch for one more week.....
One of my other brothers was trying to do the dance - but it wasn't pretty.....his poor partner was taking steps like he was....and he was dancing like he was turning a semi truck around in a forty acre field.
Saner heads prevailed and he was kept after class for private lessons.

Tomorrow evening I'm seeing a local closing performance of Peter and the Starcatcher which I still know little about but I expect it to be excellent based on who the director and cast are.
Sunday evening brings our first round of Carrie auditions. Gulp.

I heard little noises coming from the yard, and looked out. It's just the usual squirrels, plus we have a lot of chipmunks this summer. And the occasional groundhog. And this year, a rabbit or two. And of course all the birds around the feeders.
I always look when I hear an unseemly noise, though, to make sure our friend Mr. Bear hasn't popped in for another visit.

I heard little noises coming from the yard, and looked out. It's just the usual squirrels, plus we have a lot of chipmunks this summer. And the occasional groundhog. And this year, a rabbit or two. And of course all the birds around the feeders.
I always look when I hear an unseemly noise, though, to make sure our friend Mr. Bear hasn't popped in for another visit.
The bird lets me know when there’s an unusual critter in the backyard: possum, puppy or skunk. Last night, it was a beautiful calico kitten.

From Costco, with about 86 pounds of cat litter and a 40-pack of AA batteries.
From Shop Rite, with some Cokes and a loaf of whole grain/whole wheat bread.
From BJ's gas pumps, with 13-some gallons of $4.75 gas, which is what it suddenly dropped to the other day from $4.85.
Talk about yer exotic shopping trips...

When I got into our family history and genealogy about...oh, 2008, I think it was, I planned out some cemetery visits on my next bunch of road trips to Ohio and other points in the Midwest. Cemeteries are quite interesting when you learn a bit about them. Some of the older and more luxurious ones, like Spring Grove in Cincinnati, are beyond what most of us think of as beautiful. You have to drive through or even walk through parts of them to appreciate the decades of artistic planning, beauty, and ongoing care. And then there are the more ordinary ones, like DR Jrand71 says, that are looking a bit shabby. I think most of them fall somewhere in between. Of course, there are also those that are incredibly ill-kept and, for all practical purposes, abandoned.

I'm hoping to see a huge backlash to today's decision. I think the anti-abortion people have been so focused on appeasing the far right that they're out of touch with most of America. Personally, I've lost so much respect for the Supreme Court that I now find them laughable. I hope that the inevitable protests make them as scared as the poor kids must have been at Uvalde.

Today has been very strange.
My goal was to get a haircut at 11 a.m. and then go to Park Row No. 1 for lunch.
I got a lot of really good sleep last night, but as much as I tried, I just couldn't resist staying in bed as long as possible.
When I did get up, I took a surreal shower -- which means I felt like I was standing outside myself while I showered and shaved. I got dressed and had about an hour to kill before leaving for my appointment.
I did Wordle (three tries), took my blood pressure (very good) and my blood sugar (perilously low...79). I figured my blood sugar was likely why I felt so out of myself. I remedied things with a couple of spoons of peanut butter.
My haircut went well. My lunch was excellent (hot pastrami with potato salad and a kosher dill). I then went toward home when I decided to stop at the area's largest grocery store.
My goal was a few packages of Stouffer's creamed chipped beef (which I have lately been craving), but a riding cart was available, so I took it and shopped away. Got a lot more stuff that I needed, including Special K, milk, butter and the fixings for spaghetti sauce.
I went home, sat in my chair and almost instantly fell asleep. The rest of the day was a mopy one, I'm afraid.
Happily, I have food, I am feeling much more like myself, and this is my first post here for the day.

I was meeting two friends of mine is Ridgewood, which is in Queens, quite close to Brooklyn
We were going to have dinner then watch some friends play as the opening act in a tiny bar

It was only about a 26 mile trip from my office

But since I left at 5 pm, and two different sets of folks decided to crash and block lanes on one major roadway and abus decided to break down in the HOV lane in the other, it took 2 hours to travel this relatively short distance

The entire way I was listening to NPR and getting more and more riled up about todays announcement

Also I had to call my friends and tell them they should go ahead and eat without me

And since I had skipped lunch in expectation of a leisurely dinner I was very hungry

I finally arrive on the right block and see my friends sitting at an outside table outside the restaurant

I decided to look for a parking space and continue down to the end of the block when the light turns red
So I stop

The cross street now gets the green light and a bus decides to make a left turn on the street where I am sitting in my car

These are narrow streets, further complicated by cars park all along either side

As the bus starts the maneuver, it becomes evident I’m in the way

So I lean on the horn , check the review and see no one behind me, put the car in reverse and try to get out of the way
