Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a close call, and now it is time for you to post until the close call cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ORIGAMI!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
NICK NOLTE!! ;D I've been trying to think of his name for MONTHS! What happened is I came a cross this picture from a 1970s clothes catalog, and one of the models looked like an actor I recognized but I just couldn't remember his name...and the instant I read the name in BK's notes, I remembered that Nick Nolte was the name I was trying to remember. FINALLY, I can stop thinking about what his name might be.
-
Now, I don't know if the model actually was Nick Nolte. He just really looked like a young version of him.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I love Joan Hickson as Miss Marple.
-
I had a pretty good night of sleep. I have two cats with me most of hte night. Annabelle is sleeping close to me for warmth - around 2:00, when the apartment finally chills out after the heat has been turned off around 11:00 - and Thatch has decided he likes the kitty quilt and vixmom blanket combo at the foot of my bed. Stella cuddled for a while, but she didn't stay long.

~~~CONTINUED VIBES OF ALL SORTS & STRIPES~~~ for DR TCB!!!!! Sorry your surgery was postponed.
-
Amazon Fresh is making a Thanksgiving delivery of things I wanted in the previous delivery on Monday that were out of stock. I think for tomorrow I will cook a nice dinner of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, chicken, and some veggies. If I start feeling lazy, I'll order a turkey dinner from Viand Cafe at 75th and Broadway.
-
I have been searching for, but have not yet found, any reports on the premiere of Kevin Puts's The Hours at the Metropolitan Opera last night.
-
It was so nice to see DR TCB in last night's posts. I'm hoping his carpel tunnel surgery goes well.
-
Outside of that Amazon Fresh delivery and the cleanup, I have little plans beyond peeling potatoes and cooking. With all the travel news, I'm so happy I'm staying home.
-
Good morning, all.
Thanks for the notes on Grace Quigley. I always wanted to see that. Still do.
-
I have to go into the office today. Ugh.
-
Mass shooting at Walmart in Virginia. So sad. So senseless.
-
Vixmom, I owe you that Wordle guess. I guessed your first guess and chose from there.
-
We have a new policy at the office. You must be in the office for three days a week. Holidays and days off don’t count. If you go on vacation for two weeks, you have to make up six office days.
-
The downside is that it will force sick people into the office just to get their three days.
-
I just found out that the woman two desks from me tested positive for covid today. Oh, joy.
-
That stinks, DR John G.
-
Are you sure your management isn't taking marching orders from that guy that now owns Twitter?
-
~~~STAYING HEALTHY VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!!!
-
We're on a roll now.
-
Maybe more like a croissant.
-
Any bread product will do, really.

Because no matter which, they all take us to...

Good morning, all.

Thank you for the beautiful Thanksgiving card, DR Elmore.

Wordle: 4/6

Someday "adieu" will be the wordle word and millions of people will get it in 1
-
So here we are. It's that day in which I prepare the stuffing so it'll be ready to bake/cook/stuff/whatever tomorrow. The cranberry sauce has already been chilling for two days. Those are my two favorite things. Tomorrow I make the mashed potatoes, and everyone else is responsible for the rest - which is just the way I like it.
-
I am properly exhausted from rehearsals and everything else life has presented, so today is the most welcome ME day. I will work in the kitchen while great music plays, do some cleaning up while great music plays, and get me some rest and relaxation while great music plays. I don't yet know what all the great music is going to be, but I can say I've been hankering to jump into some Hansel and Gretel.
-
Tonight the holiday movies will commence. Those and all the holiday music will be laid out for quick and easy consumption over the rest of the year.
-
That sounds delightful, DR ChasSmith.
-
The ophthalmologist's office has put me on their waiting list in case earlier appointments open up. Which of course they will. I have no idea how far out they may be in scheduling surgeries, so I want to at least have the consultation sooner rather than later.
-
I hate my health some days more than others. This adorable little cat-friendly dog will be euthanized unless someone can foster or adopt him, and I cannot take him on, much as I would like to.

-
The political donation solicitation emails have not really abated much since the election. And the Black Friday emails are burgeoning.
Bah, Humbug.

Ha!
-
Good morning.
Feeling extremely lazy today.
Must go to Post Office, however, before noon.

I hope JB liked his people food this morning.
Priscilla is the queen of the food bowl and will not let Elvis have a bite until she is DONE. And sometimes she sits there quite awhile not even eating a seed.
Elvis is very patient.
Priscilla also put the basketball in the goal, but she quickly lost interest.

I was reading a book.....The Letters of James Merrill....a poet. I may have mentioned this before.
Anyway - in one letter he was talking about a dinner he attended with many friends. The topic was what would you change about yourself physically if you could.
One man said that he was embarrassed about how short his arms were. Everyone was puzzled and tried to convince him that that was NOT the case. He asked didn't everyone notice that his shirt sleeves always came a couple of inches below his wrist.
James Merrill says - "And that's when he learned what the second number on the shirt tag meant."

Early consultation vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.

Does anyone have a movie poster hanging up at their house?
I have a poster of "September 20, 1955" on my office door.....and a poster of the movie "Frances" hanging in the game room.....and a few lobby cards here and there.

Am having another day of hypotension.
It's sorta scary as it leaves me a bit discombobulated and, otherwise, dizzy.
Am constantly adjusting my meds, so it's a matter of time before I stabilize. I hope. I see my doctor next Tuesday.
-
Today feels different, doesn't it!
The day before Thanksgiving.
Will be on the road tomorrow morning with Sharon and Butch. Traffic will likely be very light.
Looking forward to Black Friday!!
-
DR John, scary close call for the daughter of your co-worker. I hope she didn't know any of the victims.
-
DR TCB I am happy you found a way to post without hurting your hands. I hope you will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends.

That is crazy having to make up vacation days.
-
I would be angry about that.
-
Can you add extra days before you leave so there are fewer days to make up when you return?
-
I just found out that the woman two desks from me tested positive for covid today. Oh, joy.
I take it back, you don't want to work extra days before traveling. Covid free vibes!

I understand thst Herschel Walker said something about an “erection for all the people.” And he was standing next to Lindsay Graham when he said it.
-
That sounds about right for him.
-
For purple mountain majesties...
-
Every Herschel Walker campaign ad that plays on my TV (and no station seems to be immune from them) diminishes the collective intelligence of every viewer.
-
For purple mountain majesties...
What? No "fruited plains"?
-
I understand thst Herschel Walker said something about an “erection for all the people.” And he was standing next to Lindsay Graham when he said it.
I bet that gave Auntie Lindsey the vapors!
-
Movie posters. An excellent question. Just a few cherce things.
I *so* wish I had collected more in the 70s and 80s when I had the chances to do so all around me.
Psycho - original one-sheet
Rear Window - re-release one-sheet ("if your nerves can take it after seeing Psycho")
Torn Curtain - half-sheet in only fair condition
The Haunting - original (what's the vertical 14"x36" called? insert?)
The Exorcist - original one-sheet
Mr. Sardonicus - original one-sheet in only fair condition
La vallée des poupées (Valley of the Dolls) - original French three-sheet (thank you, BK and Indiegogo)
Rear Window - #1 original lobby card signed by Hitchcock (no caricature, it was scribbled in a hurry)
Quite a few other lobby cards (many Hitch, a few signed by actors) and some B&W & color 8x10s from various movies.
Various and sundry odds and ends, and no doubt a few things put away that I'm not thinking of.
-
I'm sorry to say I never got into collecting plays or musical theater posters, because there are a few I would devoutly wish to have (and which would be absolutely beyond my reach nowadays, so never mind...).
But here's one thing, which I prize: a lithograph of The Threepenny Opera (Theater de Lys) poster given to me by DR Elmore. Thank you so much for that.
-
The stuffing stuff is prepared and in the fridge for combining and cooking tomorrow.
Next up: peeling and cutting the potatoes for storing in ice water in the fridge overnight.
-
I understand thst Herschel Walker said something about an “erection for all the people.”
Giving his penchant for impregnating women, I guess that is one thing he is good at.
-
What? No "fruited plains"?
Why, I'm doing quite well; thank you!

I don't have many movie posters. Years ago, I sent away for a free 4-foot by 6-foot (I think...it's huge!) poster of The Last of the Mohicans, starring Daniel Day Lewis. I took it out to look at it when I got it, then put it back in the tube.
-
I do have, of course, several Broadway show posters.

At the time, I lived in a very small apartment, so there was no place to hang it, at all. I otherwise haven't thought about it much since. ::)
-
But I still have it. :)
-
Maybe I'll leave instructions for my tombstone to say: "I've Still Got It."

;D
-
Does "young Tom turkey" have to be a boy?
-
These are the things I ponder.
-
Keith just purchased a white noise machine.
-
I hope it helps him sleep.
-
I hope I can't hear it once I take my hearing aids out ;D
-
I have used a white noise machine for 30 years, and swear by it.
-
That reminds me...
-
Another thing I ponder:
Why is the old dog called "Tray"?
-
Potatoes peeled, cut, refrigerated.
I am done. For now. A little housecleaning to do later. Time to sit back for a bit.
-
I have used a white noise machine for 30 years, and swear by it.
Fingers crossed we are both happy with it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.

DR Elmore -- I know you don't write in Finale, but do you have version 27? They've got Cyber Monday deals coming up that include upgrades.
-
I used to upgrade religiously, but haven't done so in quite a few years now.
-
Food, food - what is my mood? I was thinking of doing Del Taco - haven't done that in a long time. I was thinking of Tommy's - a burger and some chili, cheese, and onion fries. I was thinking of a Stanley's chicken Caesar. I could go out and drive around, but you can't get near a market today, so that's out. Don't really want to sit in a restaurant. Could get my little pepperoni pizza - that would actually be fastest. Decisions, decisions.
-
:)
-
There's a gaping maw if I ever saw one.
-
I wonder if BK will get a screener for TAR, the movie with Cate Blanchett as a classical conductor?
-
I have the pumpkin cake part of a pumpkin roll cooling.
-
We skipped our afternoon walk so I could bake this for tomorrow.
-
Even though it isn't raining today it is ugly out and we didn't mind having an excuse not to go out again.
-
Fortunately I worked hard at the gym this morning and walked a couple of extra miles in the same amount of time I usually take to do a bit more than three miles.
-
DR Elmore -- I know you don't write in Finale, but do you have version 27? They've got Cyber Monday deals coming up that include upgrades.
I upgraded Finale in July 2020, but until I am forced to upgrade again, I sit on what I have.
-
Heading out for several hours to sing at a Thanksgiving service of worship. Back later!

Same here. Unless and until I sit down to really use it, I don't need no steenkin' upgrades.
-
I am also interested in TAR - we shall see what happens.
I shall wait and see what fellow HHWers think.
-
I am most pleased by the posts on HHW today....however my sister and I have indulged in some Vodka/Cranberry Juice cocktails today, so I am a very irresponsible poster at this time.
-
So last night around 10 pm. I started to get everything ready to brine the turkey
-
Only to discover I had no kosher salt
-
So this morning at 7 am I went to the grocery store.
-
I saw a few other things I needed and debated buying pumpkin pies , but decided to go next door to BJs for one of their pies instead
-
BJs was completely out of pumpkin pies
-
So I went back to the grocery store
-
Misjudged a parking space and scraped the back fender of another car
-
I didn’t leave a note
-
Because the driver was sitting behind the wheel
-
She leaped out ready to kill
-
Isn't that always what happens DR VIXMOM?
-
And then......
-
So I leaped out, with my hands out , apologizing saying it was all my fault and I was so sorry
-
Well it was and I was
-
So she burst into tears and said someone had backed into the other side of her car yesterday
-
And it wasn’t actually her car, but her son’s
-
So i hugged her
-
Once she calmed down a bit we exchanged names, phone numbers, and addresses
-
Turns out she lives just down the road from me
-
We looked and realized there was very little damage
-
So we decided she could get an estimate, and I'll just pay her cash for repairs...there's no dent just some scraped paint
-
Then I went in and got the same damn pies I had in my hands 30 minutes earlier
-
Then i had to hurry home to shower and change because I was already running late leaving for work
-
Came home unpacked and put everything away
-
I didn't buy the kosher salt
-
I think we will get a screener for TAR - it's pure Oscar bait.
-
Good evening.
-
Vixmom, your stories are always so much more angsty than mine.
-
Decided on the little pepperoni pizza - fastest delivery. Only they sent the Dasher on several other deliveries before me - me, who is four minutes away. They send the guy to Tarzana - over seven miles from here in the opposite direction. I got DoorDash on the phone, told them if the pizza was cold it would be a full refund - pizza was, of course, ice cold, so got the full refund PLUS five bucks, and another is on its way now and should be here momentarily, five minutes from the time it was picked up.
-
I'm glad there wasn't much damage.
-
I just put a roast in the oven. My DH thoughtfully offered to go put gas in the car for me.
-
I should have put the roast in earlier, but I forgot I had defrosted it. Until my DH asked about it.
-
Pies are almost worth it DR VIXMOM.
-
!Ice Cold Pepperoni Pizza is a new video game!
-
I baked a Marie Callender peach cobbler today, then fretted all afternoon on where i could keep it safe since I have no shelf space. I finally wrapped it in Reynolds Wrap and set it on the table. Annabelle jumped onto the table and stepped right in the middle of it.
Damn!
-
The Indiana Pacers are playing the Minnesota Timberwolves on TV tonight.
I am hoping that Luka Gaza is in the Minnesota line up.
Do you realize how difficult it is to type Minnesota when one has had a few vodka and cranberry juice drinks?
Very.....
-
DR ELMORE Marie Callender should have instructions for such occasions.
-
It is very dark at 6:42 p.m.
-
I hope JB's CHEWY order arrived today.
-
IS SHE GETTING THE KOSHER SALT???
-
I am most pleased by the posts on HHW today....however my sister and I have indulged in some Vodka/Cranberry Juice cocktails today, so I am a very irresponsible poster at this time.
And it's not even Winter A-Go-Go time yet!
-
Pizza was good.
-
Good was pizza.
-
I enjoyed the pizza.
-
Listening to the soundtrack for The List of Adrian Messenger - early Jerry Goldsmith is my kind of music.
-

Awww.

I didn't buy the kosher salt
Darn. I hate when that happens, which happens less with my Alexa shopping list on my phone.
-
Pies are almost worth it DR VIXMOM.
I hope these pies are.

-
Listening to late Jerry Goldsmith now - Basic Instinct.
-
I personally have a basic instinct, which is not to leave the house until dinner tomorrow night.
-
Our sunset is beautiful. I wish I was out walking.
-
By the time I bundled up enough to go for a walk it will be dark.
-
That reminds me...

That's great! ;D
-
Page six? Are we being gaslit?
-
Page seven - apparently we aren't being gaslit.
-
I didn't buy the kosher salt
Darn. I hate when that happens, which happens less with my Alexa shopping list on my phone.
I have Amazon Prime, but not Alexa, or Cortana, or any of those corporate eavesdroppers. ::)
-
I don't want any corporation listening to everything I say and hearing everything I do. :P
-
;)
-
I personally have a basic instinct, which is not to leave the house until dinner tomorrow night.
I have to go shopping for my sister again tonight. Big crowds don't bother me. I'm more worried that the stores will be out of what my sister needs me to get.
-
I don't have Alexa either or any of those kinds of things.
-
Basic Instinct is done - so I'll now try and find something to watch.
-
I didn't buy the kosher salt
Darn. I hate when that happens, which happens less with my Alexa shopping list on my phone.
I have Amazon Prime, but not Alexa, or Cortana, or any of those corporate eavesdroppers. ::)
LOL. I really love the shopping, and other lists.
-
When I am in the kitchen all I need to do is ask Alexa to add an item.
-
I haz returned.
-
Now for a late supper of something-or-other.
-
Sorry for your mishap, DR vixmom.
-
Isn't it time for your string of bad luck to END?
-
It seems like it has been one thing after another for over a year now.
-
But then me might not get all the entertaining stories.
-
But I would be willing to forgo them for your well-being.
-
So I guess you're not dry-brining the turkey...
-
But I would be willing to forgo them for your well-being.
Ditto!
-
I think you should follow that instinct MR BK.
I shall do the same.
-
I saw Luka sitting on the Minnesota bench but he never was called up to the floor.
-
THE KING AND I was just on TCM.
I like that movie.....and I love the score. It has two really beautiful songs that always make me cry a bit:
We Kiss In The Shadow
and
Something Wonderful.
And Rita M. is wonderful narrating The Small House of Uncle Thomas....
-
It seem like Friday.....but tomorrow is only Thursday.
I shall prepare my turkey breast and see what happens.
-
The Last Emperor is coming on next.
-
Now I want to play the CD that has MR BK singing a R/H song from Flower Drum Song:
Love Look Away.....which is most excellent.
-
Well, we should be able to get a new page going here.
-
Without too much effort.
-
Well, a little effort.
-
But not too much.
-
It's here...
-
Page Eight!
-
Does "young Tom turkey" have to be a boy?
Not if the name is Thelma.
-
Perhaps DR vixmom should make like Snoopy and just make popcorn for Thanksgiving.
-
.
-
We're in fine fettle.
-
We were in rough fettle, but now we've upgraded to the fine fettle.
-
It's more expensive, but we're worth it, don't you think?
-
Tiring quickly.
-
Good night, friends.
-
IS SHE GETTING THE KOSHER SALT???
She is not
-
After work today I went back to that self same grocery
-
There was no kosher salt …the shelf was bare
-
There are 4 other grocery stores in reasonable distance but I just couldn’t bear the thought of driving from store to store
-
Plus I had a splitting headache since midday
-
So I settled for a overpriced package of coarse sea salt with no iodine additives
-
Then I came home and made the brine
-
Turkey is currently lying in state in the refrigerator
-
Then I had to peel 5 lbs of white mushrooms so I could make the sherry mushrooms everyone likes
-
Left work today at 1. Went and had a massage.
-
Then went out to eat with friends, a Thanksgiving Eve tradition. Excellent food and wine and conversation.
-
Came home and made a tart for tomorrow.
-
Now watching the rest of Nope. Not great.
-
Another great Vixmom story. Loved the ending.
-
Starting The Beatles: Get Back. Part 1 is 2.5 hours.
-
Good night, all.
-
I Made the Brine - that's the title of my next novel.
-
So far I've watched - nothing.
-
But have been listening to music.
-
I wan to be very clear - I have watched NOTHING.
-
Right now, listening to late Jerry Goldsmith - The Sum of All Fears - his use of synths is really off-putting in a score like this. But I find in all his mid-nineties scores on, little of interest because they all sound and feel the same, depending on the genre.
-
I have no idea where this evening went but it went somewhere.
-
Meanwhile, just in the nick of time - page nine.
-
And no one's gonna tell me different.
-
I do feel we will get to page ten.
-
It's just a feeling - my basic instinct.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I do feel we will get to page ten.
Anything's possible.
-
Anything IS possible.
-
We've got forty-five minutes.
-
Let's all pull our weight. I just pulled mine.
-
And there's a lot to pull.
-
I feel that we're a third of the way there.
-
That leaves two-thirds to go.
-
My tummy is feeling a bit weird. I hope I didn't do it harm. I hadn't thrown out the pizza that had arrived cold, so for a snack, I heated up two of the smallest pieces in the microwave and ate them. And now, the tummy is feeling weird.
-
Hopefully, that will pass.
-
Had a bit of sherbet to cleanse the palate.
-
That has no relation to Pontius Palate.
-
He ate sherbet, too.
-
Well, apparently I will have no help.
-
I'll be on my own.
-
Most unseemly.
-
It's a long way to Tipararee or however you spell it.
-
Now playing: Jerry Goldsmith - Dennis the Menace - not his finest hour.
-
But then the film stunk.
-
It really stank.
-
It smelled.
-
Actually, we're not that far from page ten.
-
I could be obstinate and just stop right here.
-
But why would I do that?
-
I wouldn't.
-
And this should do it.
-
There.
-
Welcome fifty-five GUESTS.
-
You're all sitting there like so much fish.
-
I just finished watching the third and final hour of the Joan Hickson version of A Murder is Announced.
-
That was in broadcast in 1984.
-
I watched the Geraldine McEwan version of A Murder is Announced last week or the week before, and that was originally broadcast in 1996 (if I remember correctly).
-
And I think the play was adapted in 1987.
-
They are three fairly different versions of essentially the same story...lots of differences, though.
-
Probably mainly because I was in the play, and it was the first version that I'd gotten to know, I do prefer that to either of the TV versions.
-
I don't know if I prefer Joan Hickson or Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple.
-
Sue, who played Miss Marple in our play, really did prefer Joan Hickson to either Geraldine McEwan or Julia McKenzie, who also played Miss Marple on TV.
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I happen to know this because I've read them and they have breaking bombshell news.
-
Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
-
On which early TV show did Nellybelle appear?
-
On which early TV show did Neal appear?
-
On which early TV show did Cleo appear?
-
On which early TV show does someone work at Honeywell and Todd?
-
On which early TV show does the character of Lassie appear?
-
This is the expanded version of Dennis the Menace. Why anyone in their right mind would want an expanded version of this particular score is another story.
-
It has worn out its welcome three-fold.
-
On which early TV show does the character of Lassie appear?
Umm...Timmy?? ;)

-
Oh, just for the halibut, let's go for the gold and the big round number.
-
We're so close.
-
Like really close.
-
Like intensely close.
-
I think two more will do it.
-
I think one more will do it.
-
We dood it.
-
PAGE ELEVEN!!

I can't...they're all LONG before my time. ::)
