Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both sorry and grateful, not necessarily in that order, and now it is time for you to post until the sorry/grateful cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUCCOTASH!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Today, I'm working concessions again for The Nutcracker. I will probably go in and watch some of it. I didn't last night. We'll see how I feel about it.

They are changing the ending for today’s performance.
-
I will not be watching The Nutcracker.
-
I will be doing a quick Gelson's run.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
And the word of the day is: SUCCOTASH!
Sufferin'?
-
:)
-
Excuse me whilst I retire to my
fainting couch davenport.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Last night I slept better than I usually do. I had a strange dream that I lived in an apartment on Eighth Avenue around 45th Street. I could climb in and out of a window and be on Eighth Avenue. Everything is vague now about the dream's contents, but there was a movie theatre and a flood in my apartment and another that didn't seem to alarm me.
-
My feet have been causing problems the past few days. I don't know if it's arch support issues, but standing on my feet is a tortuous ordeal, and I am concerned.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Playing bells this morning.
-
I missed practice last week. I wonder if I’ve played the piece before.

Good morning, all.

Setup, sitzprobe and tech today.
Easy peasy compared to the last one! - but it’s still a huge day to get through.
-
In fact, it’s just me and the drummer today. Our bass player is out of the country and will join tomorrow.
-
I always thought I’d remembered a Del Taco from the 1970s, but an address check revealed it to be an El Taco. I wonder if I really knew Del Taco or if it was even around then. Must educate myself on this matter.
-
It's all about the taco, really.
-
I don’t know if that would be the same thing that BK is talking about, anyway.
-
:)
-
Is it just me or does "sitzprobe" sound like a very unpleasant medical procedure?
-
It's going to be our warmest day in weeks, with a high near 73.
It is also gray, stormy and will be so all day with high winds until around midnight.
Thus saith the weather man.
-

Del Taco was definitely around in the 70s. Folks get addicted to them. Compared to Taco Bell, the Del Taco taco seems to me to be swimming in grease and lacking in flavor.
But, maybe it's just the one I went to in San Diego.
-
I cannot, for the life of me, find any Christmas spirit.
I may refrain from decorating again this year.
-
Is it just me or does "sitzprobe" sound like a very unpleasant medical procedure?
I think that's true of many German words.

Good morning
-
I cannot, for the life of me, find any Christmas spirit.
I may refrain from decorating again this year.
That's because it is still too early.
-
I mean, the Election Day decorations are still up.
-
Today, I'm working concessions again for The Nutcracker. I will probably go in and watch some of it. I didn't last night. We'll see how I feel about it.

It couldn't hurt! ;)

From DR Vixmom:
This is why we’re going to Maryland
https://www.roundhousetheatre.org/On-Stage/Explore/The-Tempest
This looks very interesting. I noticed the theater isn't far from Craig and the offices are in his town.
-
From DR Jrand:
Many houses are being lit up with outdoor lights and figures....it looks very nice.
I do however miss my favorite outdoor figure that used to be put up every year about two streets over.
He was the drunk wise man......his two friends stayed standing up steady and strong.....but at least three nights a week he was down on the ground with his feet in the air.
He never did stand up straight - but when he was lit up and lying on the ground it was always worth a trip in the car to go check him out. I think it was Melchior.
:))
-
I call it stuffing and I have not stuffed a bird since before Bryan was born. Dressing sounds like salad dressing.
-
If you google stuffing recipes you will see many are baked in a casserole dish.
-
I have given someone
a the bird... does that count?
-
Granted, the same goes for googling dressing ;D
-
:)
Cute :)
-
A mild sunny day. A walk is in the offing. Or perhaps a nap. Or both?
-
At Thanksgiving I was happy to have a beautiful, panther like, black cat to pet.
-
:)
Great decorating.
-
We ate breakfast at our hotel every morning and, while not as pretty, Keith's latte & my hot chocolate were pretty. The last morning our barista wasn't there and our waitress with no artistic ability made the drinks. Worse than not pretty, they were lukewarm.
-
Awwww..... DR JANE now that I have new neighbors I don't have cat visits.....just now and then......but it is a nice Black cat.
-
DR singdaw did you measure it before you fainted?
-
Short rehearsal vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep. One of the two people coming isn't coming - and I haven't heard from the other - so I don't know what's up and would love to go back to bed.
-
I decided to do laundry today rather than wait until Monday....so the machines are whirring away.
My laundry day is much different than my mother's laundry day back when I was little.
She had to watch me closely because at three years of age, I could throw a kitten into the washer in a heartbeat.....she rescued them more than once. Eventually I was banned from the laundry room.
-
DR RON PULLIAM on the Reelz channel on Friday and Saturday nights they have ON PATROL LIVE.....and they have two crews in South Carolina.
What county are you living in? If it's one of the two I'll remember....but I can't think what they are right now.
You could be ON TV!
-
Theeder vibes for DR CHAS SMITH and company.
We had never had a sitzprobe at the Putnam County Playhouse, so when I decided I would do one for JOSEPH the whole cast was a buzz. I don't think anyone knew what it was on the schedule.
I had told the musical director and vocal director who were both impressed with such activity. It was fun except of course one of the brothers had to bring his two toddlers with him.....but that's life.
-
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
Page Three.
-
Awwww..... DR JANE now that I have new neighbors I don't have cat visits.....just now and then......but it is a nice Black cat.
I do love a black cat.
-
Of course I love most cats.
-
I always like when I get what I want in the end.
-
I must admit I am not keen on hairless cats.
-
What does a floor installer give his wife when he leaves for work in the morning?

Short rehearsal vibes for DR ELMORE.
Rehearsal?
-
I just took a relaxing hot bath.
When I went down earlier with the garbage, my feet were killing me; it was like walking on pins and I could barely move. I then stopped at the mailboxes to get my and Ann and Jen's mail. There were several cartons from Amazon, so I opened the largest carton to put the contents into my bag anmd break it down. I put the other packages into my bag as Diana, whose apartment is across from the mailboxes came in.
-
There's always a
band rehearsal, kid.
-
Did Diana think you were stealing stuff, DR elmore3003?
-
DR Jrand72 - I didn't have my tape measure handy, alas.
-
Coming soon to the small screen... ON PATROL...ON ICE.
-
You have the right to perform a triple toe loop.
-
Jane Monheit has a new Christmas album out. I haven't listened to her in quite a while.
-
We spoke briefly because I was too fraught to talk. I got off the floor, and she asked me what I was going to do with the large broken-down carton, and I said I would bring it upstairs and take it to the basement in the morning. She said nonsense, I'll take it down for you now.
As I inched toward the elevator. I thought about the number of times she had already done that and how she had rescued me last week when I was stuck in the basement. I thanked her for her kindness and burst into awful sobs. She held me and prayed over me as I wept. I was completely overwhelmed.
-
The Joni Mitchell songbook special on PBS is conducted by, and with orchestrations by, Vince Mendoza. He was in the class ahead of me in high school. He was composing and arranging for the jazz band even then. Quite a talented lad.
-
DR elmore3033 - you have many angels looking out for you. I am forever thankful.
-
:)
-
Elmore I think I would like Diana very much

Sending you hugs

So I was experimenting with how I make omlettes
-
I have a spring whisk I like to use when I beat my eggs and I usually just get them a little frothy
-
I wondered what would happen if I separated the eggs and beat the whites with a little cream of tartar until they got thick and then folded in the yolks
-
OMG
-
Lightest, most fluffy omelette ever
-
The filling was Sautéed mushrooms and shallots and a little Muenster cheese
-
I should have taken a picture, it was a thing of beauty
-
But I ate it too quickly
-
Vixdad wanted an egg sandwich from the deli so that’s what he had
-
Church was pretty empty this morning
-
I guess it was a combination of the holiday weekend and the threatening looking skies
-
It’s dark and cloudy and foggy
-
But the threatened torrential rain hasn’t occurred yet
-
Oh, I never Wordled today
-
Let me remedy that oversight
-
Good afternoon.

I was worship leader this morning. After my part was done, I went over to the kitchen and helped set out the finger food/snack items. They decorated the church for Christmas today, so the snacks were a light lunch. I didn't help decorating. They don't like my style, I guess.
-
Elmore, I'm sure you have been a good and generous neighbor for many, many years. Now it is your turn to receive assistance from your neighbors. It gives them joy to be able to offer help, and I am glad you are accepting it.
-

That's pretty cool! Joseph Goodrich, the music director for the Unplugged Sondheim CDs was a freshman at my high school when I was a senior. We were in several choirs together, and then he came to Western Washington University when I was there and we reconnected. :)

There had better be a next time, Vixmom! ;D

I think everyone should have a fluffy omelette.

Spoke with Mom. She had a minor stroke. The hospital was talking about releasing her. But I just got a text thar her center thinks she’s too weak.

I meant to post this on Thursday:
-
The four-day break has been nice. Tomorrow, it is back to the routine.
-
And a headlong rush to Christmas.
-
I think I'll probably re-watch Knives Out before I tackle Glass Onion.
-
Glass Onion will become available on Netflix on December 23.
-
Five.

It sounds yummy.

LOL, do you like their style?

Did she have the stroke while in the hospital or did they decide what they initially believed wasn't a stroke was indeed one?

Same here.

DR John did you ever receive the results from your biopsy?
-
I'll pass, thank you.
-
I don't think that's really real.
-
But strange things happen.
-
Open Enrollment for health insurance through the Federal Exchange continues through January 15th.
-
That's longer than Ethel Merman was married to Ernest Borgnine.
-
Just for context.
-
DR George, this made me think of your sister:
"I watched a Hallmark movie backwards. A woman in an ugly Christmas sweater dumped her loser small-town boyfriend to pursue a law career in NYC, where she lived happily ever after in pencil skirts and amazing shoes."
-
:))
-
I was also thinking of George's sister today.
-
George, how does she feel with many of the Hallmark people going to the Christian channel? After reading the comments from Candace Cameron, and the responses, I gather she will not be watching that station.
-

She had it before she went to the hospital.
-
She is too weak to go back to her place. She’ll be headed to rehab for a few days at least.
My sister Linda and I think she’s at the point of needing a nursing home rather than assisted living.
-
No rehearsal. Got another hour of sleep.
-
Had a chicken Caesar from Stanley's - good.
-
Doing a quick Zoom in fifteen minutes with editor Marshall Harvey and Karl Sonnenberg regarding the green screen stuff where he'll be putting in backgrounds.

I'm sorry, John G. This is always tough. I've gone through it with my mom and my mother-in-law.
-
Looking to order a new Swing-a-way manual I discovered they are now made in China.
-
When the company moved from the US to China they sold the equipment.
-
Instead of Swing-a-way I purchased an Eze-Duz-It opener which happens to be the best rated can opener, and made from the original Swing-a-way machines.
-
It cost a couple of dollars more to purchase USA made.
-
I've been looking for this for fifty-four years. I saw this when it aired ni 1968 on The Smothers Brother's Comedy Hour. I thought it was stunning then and have remembered it all these years - and it is exactly as I remembered. The long version of this is on the Mason Williams Phonograph Album, the album which gave the world Classical Gas and which is one of the great albums of that era. I was obsessed with the tune and orchestration of this song, called Sunflower. When I saw Sweet Charity a little more than a year later I was shocked to hear the end cue, where Charity is sitting on the park bench and the hippies (including Bud Cort) come and give her a flower and hope. The cue was, of course, by Cy Coleman, but either Fosse had temp tracked the ending with Sunflower or Coleman had heard it, because in feel it's exactly the same and mostly it's the same musically, at times exactly so.
Here's the Smothers Brothers clip: https://youtu.be/STCe11lK-mk
And here's the full version of Sunflower: https://youtu.be/SZ5C9PU6vKE

Vibes for the mother of DR JOHN G.
-
Oh dear....DR ELMORE those vibes were for MR BK's short rehearsal.
So here are some of your own.
-
So it sounds like the more intensive nursing care is not available at the place where your mom is now, DR John G.
-
That's an upheaval.
-
I am not familiar with all the different types of can openers. I guess I should consider myself lucky that I haven't had to learn that yet.
-
But I'm sure that the day will arrive, sooner than later.
-
According to Facebook, you CAN make popcorn in an air fryer.
-
I don't have an air fryer, but still...
-
Just how do people with small kitchens make space for all of these new specialized appliances, I wonder?
-
But I'm sure that the day will arrive, sooner than later.
Years ago I found the swing opener as I needed one that didn't hurt my hands, and worked well.
-

Hmmm, interesting but I don't think Keith is going to try that.

Umm...no.
But you could top it with stuffing-flavored potato chips.
-
Genius, DR John G.
-
Tired.
-
But maybe I have a page turn in me.
-
If they asked me,
-
I could write a book.
-
Book 'em, Danno.
-
Oh
Danno Danny Boy.
-
A boy like that.
-
That thing that you do.
-
Do tell!
-
Seven!
-
Good night, friends.
-
Long day of dancing.
-
Watching a Tod Browning picture called Mark of the Vampire. Lionel Barrymore, Bela Lugosi, Jean Hersholt and the MGM lot of character actors. Some fun, creepy stuff.
The bat, though, is really silly. Unspecial effect.
-
At an hour, the movie doesn’t wear out its welcome.
-
Started the new Michael Connelly, Desert Star, yesterday and just finished it. Decent page-turner. After the slog that was The Last Chairlift and some other too-lengthy books recently, it was just what I needed.
-
Good night, all.
-
Vibes and prayers for DR John’s mom
-
Finished with my viewing, at least for the time being. Watched a little Sandra Bullock murder picture.
-
If you google stuffing recipes you will see many are baked in a casserole dish.
Jane, I wasn’t trying to start a war. I don’t really care what people call it. I was just amazed that two correspondents, on a network program, didn’t have a producer or researcher who could look up the history behind the names.
-
My feet have been causing problems the past few days. I don't know if it's arch support issues, but standing on my feet is a tortuous ordeal, and I am concerned.
Larry, do you have The Good Feet Stores in New York? People out here swear my them.
-
Is it just me or does "sitzprobe" sound like a very unpleasant medical procedure?
It can also be a very unpleasant rehearsal procedure.
-
Just how do people with small kitchens make space for all of these new specialized appliances, I wonder?
I just bought a Christmas gift for my niece (or I may keep it for myself) that supposedly solves that problem. It is a glass lid that turns any regular pan into an air fryer. It also lays totally flat in your cupboard. I don’t have room for a regular air fryer, so I thought if this actually works….
-
Page seven had become a thorn in my side.
-
Where the HELL is George.
-
Most unseemly.
-
We would have been to page eight long before this had he shown up. But noooooo...
-
I'm home. :)
-
Oh, the prodigal George comes home.
-
Perhaps he'll make some posts.
-
Wouldn't that be elegant.
-
I'll be reaching a new plateau all too soon.
-
Well, I guess we're gonna have to do this all by myself.
-
Continued vibes for John’s mother!
-
Where the HELL is George.
After volunteering for the ballet, I met my friend Shelly at the west side (of Olympia) Applebee's for dinner.
-
New notes are up.
-
We got there around 6:45 and were there talking until 11:40!
-
Up are new notes.
-
They speak of many things.
-
I read them, so I know whereof I speak.
-
We ate fairly quickly, but pretty much chatted the whole time!
-
Shelly is VERY much a talker! ;D
-
I'm kind of hungry but I'll try and resist the urge.
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
Clearly Shelly blabbed.
-
And blabbed.
-
But she got us to page eight, so we like her.
-
I'm kind of hungry but I'll try and resist the urge.
If you must, you must.
-
Lordy, how can it be the 28th already.
-
Clearly Shelly blabbed.
But it was all very interesting.
-
I wish I had something here other than potato chips and gushers.
-
And the food was pretty good.
-
Gratuitous Post #222!
-
I mean, I do - I have Velveeta mac-and-cheese, but that's over 1,000 calories so can't do that.
-
Lordy, how can it be the 28th already.
Less than a month to the Winter Solstice!
-
222 has been a consistent number of postings this month.

In honor of Room 222.

What's shocking is that perky and adorable Karen Valentine is now 75, the age I will be all too soon.
Wow! Time marches on!

I did not know she was of Portuguese heritage.

She is.
-
She really is.
-
I read it on Wikipedia so it must be so.

Her last job was in 2004.
According to IMDb? Maybe she's done some stage work that wouldn't be listed there.

Why, look what's just around the corner.

Not Little Jack Horner.

No, it's page nine.

I read it on Wikipedia so it must be so.
