Well, you've read the notes, the notes entered December and began the holiday season, and now it is time for the December and holiday cows to come home.

I did not want to get out of bed this morning. Annabelle and I curled up for an extra hour of sleep after the alarm rang at 5:45.

I need to do laundry, but my body is killing me. The thought of 3-5 trips to the laundry room makes me want to go back to bed ASAP.

My goals for the holiday season:
1. wishing my friends a Happy Hanukka or a Merry Christmas with all the appropriate trimmings;
2. a successful cataract surgery next Monday;
3. enough funds to send a few gifts;
4. enough good health to be in a good spirit.

Last night I spoke to my friend Charlie's stepdaughter. She said he went into cardiac arrest on Nov. 16, an event that had happened several times before, and that he was not responding positively this time to the meds and treatments that had helped in the past. He is currently coming in and out of dementia. She doesn't believe he's going to pull out of this one.

My neighbor Ann stopped by last night. I saw Jen on Monday, but Ann's been tied up with school activities. Yesterday, the school's matinee theatre trips were to Leopoldstadt and Kimberly Akimbo, which she saw. I want to see Leopoldstadt. She liked Kimberly, but thought it a small show that should have stayed off-Broadway. We had a nice visit, gossiped a bit, and she borrowed my copy of the D.T. Max book of Sondheim interviews. She's got plans for tonight and tomorrow, then she's off to Boston for the weekend to be with her parents. I think she was relieved not to be the one to pick me up after Monday's surgery.

I just got a Happy Birthday email from AARP/UnitedHealthcare. Isn't that sweet? Doesn't a corporate greeting just fill you with warmth and happiness? Such personal attention they give us!
Of course, I also have to wonder if they really think today is my birthday, and not two weeks hence. Good Lord.

Vibes for everyone here. BK is right, we all need them. And December can often seem to be the month in which the need is more keenly felt, for various and sundry reasons. It can be a stressful time.

Final dress rehearsal went pretty well last night, and tonight is our first night before an audience. This theater admits only seniors (free) for their previews, and the house is always full. Whatever happens tonight will prepare us all the better for the official opening tomorrow.

I didn't have to get out of bed this morning! Because of the snow, we got the message that our building wasn't opening until 10:00 a.m., so I got to stay in bed for about an hour and a half longer than usual. :)
