Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Oscar-worthy, and now it is time for you to post until the Oscar-worthy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: APOTHEOSIS!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

TOD
Growing up on the East Coast, most movies set in Los Angeles beckoned me.
Blue skies, gorgeous beaches, soft only-in-California light proved to be irresistible. So I moved there, immediately upon college graduation.
-
Thank you all for the hugs.
They are greatly appreciated.
-
DR Elmore, thank you for offering your words of wisdom.
I am trying to work up some courage in order to have that conversation.
One of the problems is that I have a difficult time holding back tears.
-
This was the first year that I knew almost nothing about the Oscar nominated films.
I suppose that my tastes have changed. Or the target audience has changed.
Or both.
-
My parents allowed me to stay up late to watch the Academy Awards when I was young.
It was fun, and we watched together as a family.
That would be impossible now.
Am thankful for the memories.
Miss the elegance, humor, and manners.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
I am caught up.
-
So nice to have DR TCB and DR Jeanne and DR Edisaurus here last evening.

Good morning, all!

DR Iris, you're very welcome. The most I can wish any friend whose parent is dying is that the passing be swift and painless as possible, It's what I wish for myself. You can have your conversation with the tears. Every word you speak will be filled with compassion, love, and concern. After the first time, which can be truly upsetting, it gets easier, but the pain and grief will never leave.

Today is my appointment with my new accountant. I'm still rather angry that my accountant of the past 30+ years has dropped me to concentrate on the clients he works with as financial planner/adviser, and I'm hoping my new accountant - who was my former accountant's recommendation - works out.

Soon will be signing off to prepare for the big computer exchange.

My mother had to do this with Dad. I think the problem there was my sister who wouldn’t accept it or let him go. She kept saying he was getting better. He was lucid. He was fine. She then blamed the center for bad treatment.

My two brothers called me ghoulish and unfeeling when I suggested they do the same. Then, again, in all our relationships with Dad after his 2006 cancer diagnosis, I always felt we were a variation of King Lear with me as Cordelia and my brothers Goneril and Regan.
It was a funny turn of events since I felt in 1979, when I left Ohio for Manhattan that I was the proverbial black sheep. I'm very happy that things changed over thirty years.
-
Have a nice day everyone!
-
Good morning, all.
-
I have caught up on all TWENTY-SIX PAGES.
Wow. Impressed. I ended up napping and then conking out for good. When I woke up at one point I turned on the TV and saw a couple of minutes where Jimmy Kimmel was in the audience for that horrible embarrassing segment, and it seemed like he was apologizing for someone having gotten their speech cut off. But I'd also heard that no one got cut off all evening, so, whatever.

So here we sit, waiting for the Storm of the Millenium that might turn out to be just the Storm of the Month or something. We'll see.

Computer vibes for Rosemary....I mean DR singdaw.

What a wonderful lot of posts to read this morning. Thanks to all who wrote.....I just couldn't take it.....
I did however catch a moment in passing - it was the CEO who announced that he represented the "Academy of Motion Pitcher Arts & Sciences"....
-
I am convinced though I have no proof except something someone said a few years ago:
Some folks are included in the In Memoriam because their families or guilds PAY to have them included.....
Cindy Williams, Melinda Dillon, Marsha Hunt, Stella Stevens.....it is a disgrace.

TOD:
Rome Adventure
Three Coins In The Fountain
No, I never got to Rome......

AH I forgot to mention here on HHW, my niece won a cruise to the Mediterranean ... she and her husband are going in May.....and of course it is the same week as the high school graduation of her daughter and her husband's daughter.....both from previous alliances.

I am home. The first Access-a-Ride was a complete disaster, and I ended up with a taxi, getting to my 10:00 appointment at 9:55. Thew ride back was very good with a great AAR driver.
-
Accountant meeting vibes for DR ELMORE.
I liked him. The meeting was mostly to answer any questions he might have, but he anticipates a nice IRS refund.
-
I don't know if I'm up or not - three hours of sleep - allergies are not good and throat is scratchy and trashed because of it. So, I made the decision to postpone the Kritzerland show into April - just too many issues - allergies, Kerry's movie went over schedule and she won't be back until day of show and is stressed about winging it, she wouldn't be here for the stumble-through, another singer can only come to one weekday rehearsal, that kind o' stuff - plus as of yesterday only fifteen reservations (plus five for me) - I do know someone reserved for five or six this morning, and I'm sure we'd get up to thirty-five but I lose too much money if we don't have fifty cover charges. So, we'll find a new date in late April/early May. I want the show to be great.
-
DR TCB, the Mandalorian is the guy in armor protecting Baby Yoda.
-
From DR Vixmom:
Then we switched over to the season finale of The Last of Us
After all the talk last night about Pedro Pascal we watched the first episode this show.
-
I am catching up on the posts from last night. I think I need to watching Living.
-
DR Edri, I too thought Florence Pugh's outfit was ridiculous.
-
AH I forgot to mention here on HHW, my niece won a cruise to the Mediterranean ... she and her husband are going in May.....and of course it is the same week as the high school graduation of her daughter and her husband's daughter.....both from previous alliances.
A free trip, nice! And since they won’t want to miss those graduations, I will make the sacrifice and go on the trip for them. I am giving that way.
-
Allergy-be-gone vibes for us all.
-
From Bruce:
So, they include Jacques Perrin, who no one here knows (he's great, but...) but they leave out Cindy? They leave our Robert Morse? They leave out Bert I. Gordon? They leave out Owen Roizman? They leave out Arnold Schulman? Henry Silva? Paul Sorvino? Stella Stevens??? Marsha Hunt? Jean-Louis Trintingnant? Joe Turkel? David Warner??? Clu Gulager? Melinda Dillon? Hugh Hudson? We get Mary Alice but not Cindy? Diane McBain? And I could go on and on. Shame on all of them.
At least Cindy was in good company. Yes, shame on them >:(
-
From Vixmom:
My goodness but time flies when you advance the clocks an hour
;D True.
-
My internal clock still hasn't changed. Fortunately I don't have to set an alarm clock.

DR Iris it is ok to cry. Sending hugs.

Oh, my! Congrats on them winning the trip, but they're going instead of being there for their kids' graduations? Good for them. ;)
-

The computer situation was a disaster that is not really fully settled yet, but I am back online. They gave me the wrong adaptor, which required a whole trip back to the main office after I had already gotten home the first time.
-
There are still some kinks to be worked out.
-
On the upside, I don't have to do this again for another 5 years.
-
They said it was a very good thing I had come in, as the case on the old laptop was bulging like it was going to explode. I hadn't noticed this, as I had papers covering the keyboard.
-
Guess I'd better not repeat that with my new machine.
-
There are still some kinks to be worked out.
I thought you liked things kinky. Oh, never mind…
-
I also took the opportunity to re-arrange everything so that I don't have to move anything every time I have an on-camera meeting. Long overdue.

I needed some exercise. Instead of walking in the pouring rain I decided to use Keith's air bike.
-
In the past it has made my knees hurt. Fingers crossed I am ok.
-
I only went about half a mile, but I did push it standing up at times and going fast.
-
While standing is harder to do, it doesn't hurt my knees.
-
I already tried to make that sacrifice DR JOHN G....it was refused.
-
Sorry to hear about the show being canceled, but sometimes that works out for the best.

Page Four.

We had a few flakes of s**w this morning....but nothing that stayed on the ground or sidewalks - streets or windshields.

I am taking my cousin Carol to lunch tomorrow.....not sure where we are going.
It is my turn to pay....so we shall see.
-
We got our last estate bank statement on Friday - and the account is closed.
It also included the copy of my aunt's check.
It was written on November 4 and deposited into her account on February 3....the day before the court closing.....89 days of the 90 days she was allowed.
-
The Timberwolves are playing tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Perhaps Luka Garza will get some time on the floor. He hasn't played during the last two games.
-
I enjoyed the notes.
Is the story of the lost flip flop in the new book?
-
This day is flying by like a gazelle eating chicken marengo.
-
Darn. How far is the drive to the office?
Only about 20 minutes.

Noble of you to offer, in any event.

It could be worse, still a waste of 40+minutes of your time.

Yes, the flip-flop is in the new book.

That's one reason why I would never want to work from home. I don't have any place that has a good background. ::)
-
When using Zoom a fake background can be used.

TOD
I'm a nut about locations in movies. Here's an example of what I think BK is getting at:
Back when I first watched THE WIRE series on HBO, its Baltimore locations fascinated me, and I had already become interested in various aspects of the city through some other material. So it just happened that we were going to spend a few days there one January to attend some annual Edgar Allan Poe birthday events, which left me with many daytime hours for driving around and exploring. I did a ton of homework, studied maps and locations, and made a rough plan for getting as many miles covered as possible. It was a warm and clear January, perfect for this, and I had the greatest time driving us around like I'd known the place for years.
-
Is this a slow news day?
-
Anyone watch the teaser trailer?
-
Not worth a posting?
-
It's getting a lovely reaction over on Facebook.
-
Karen Staitman is on her way over to get the ten episodes which she'll then upload to Amazon, premiere target date, April 23.
-
Surely there must be a page five around here somewhere?
-
Surely.
-
And yet.
-
We're still on page four.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
I believe there is.
-
GASLIGHTING 101.
-
See? I knew it.

TOD 1:
I wanted to see the Tuscan countryside ever since seeing A Room With a View.
The big island of New Zealand is gorgeous in The Frighteners
The Trevi Fountain in La Dolce Vita

The teaser trailer is great. Do you have plans for any others?
-
When using Zoom a fake background can be used.
I've never used that, and sometimes they're not through Zoom. Can I assume that other video meeting apps have the same option?
-
Anyone watch the teaser trailer?
Watched it! It's great!
-
Topic of the Day: Avatar. ;)
-
Watching a silent film called L’Agonie de Jerusalem. Filmed on location back in the 1920s. I’d have liked to have seen it back then.
-
I want to time-travel to the 1970s Paris of Jacques Rivette.
-
It's getting a lovely reaction over on Facebook.
I am not surprised, still it is nice.
-
I wanted to go to New Zealand after watching movies that were filmed there.
-
Especially after watching Lord of the Rings.
-
And then we went to Hobbiton.
-
I know there are plenty of other places I have wanted to see after watching the movie, just can't recall them right now.
-
We watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona so I could see Barcelona. We were very disappointed.
-
Really, how do you have Barcelona in the title and barely highlight the views.
-
I would much rather have a wine of the month or a chocolate of the month or a potato of the month than a storm of the month.
A Potato of the Month??
-
No. That would be silly. :)
-
LOVED the Sami trailer! Can't wait!!

Safely in Bora Bora land. Had to say, I watched Everything Everywhere… on the plane, and if that was the best movie of the year, the bar was pretty low. I almost quit after the first hour. It was obnoxious and SO exposition-heavy. I napped then watched the rest. It hit a couple music-aided emotional levels towards the end, but I wasn’t ever fully buying in to its BIG THEMES.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I've been in a banking nightmare. Friday afternoon I was doing some ordinary online banking, when a transaction didn't go through. I phoned the bank to learn that it had been denied. What?! Apparently, it tripped some fraud monitor. I spoke to someone in the fraud department and she fixed it. I was doing another transaction a while later and it happened again -- the transaction didn't go through, but this time my username was disabled and I was locked out of my account. Lovely. Called again, was reenabled. It happened again. This time I was told that I'd have to wait at least 24 hours, call the bank, and a human would have to fix it. Arrrggghhhh!
-
This morning I called the bank and after three tries finally got someone who could fix it. I can now access my account again. But, it took many, many hours of calling the bank, waiting on hold, going through the security questions, explaining what happened. I've complained about their software for many years now, but never had a major problem like this. It frosts me because all of this can be fixed -- and shouldn't have happened in the first place. I think they have interns running their IT. No one could tell me for certain why it happened, either. I'm now looking at other banks, as I have little confidence in this one.
-
Regarding losing a loved one, I tried so hard to keep my dad alive and (somewhat) healthy, but then realized I was being selfish. He was in the hospital with no hope of recovery and miserable. We had a little chat and I told him to go when he was ready. He said it wasn't up to him, I told him I thought it partly was. He nodded and we said our goodbyes. The next day when I called the hospital they told me he'd passed. I didn't expect that to be our last conversation and was very glad we'd had our talk.

Vibes of comfort to DR Iris and all those who miss someone.

I will try a little DARK SHADOWS for some stress relief. I had two stress-relieving tacos for lunch, but they didn't take me down far enough on the stress-o-meter.

Glad you’re safe in Bora Bora, Rodzinski. Sorry the movie bora-bored you.
-
I found it fun. Nothing more, nothing less.
-
I’m not finding this page fun anymore.
-
Seven is heaven, I’m told.
-
Seven!
-
Well, it’s not quite eleven.
-
Tomorrow is Pi Day.
-
Good night, all.

Tomorrow is Pi Day.
Hoo and Ray! ;D

These HHW caring vibes feel like a great big hug.
Thank all of you so much for helping me cope during this sad and scary time. ❤️
-
George, do you have many SITPWG rehearsals this month?
-
It’s really nice seeing TCB posting again.
-
Rodzinski, let me know if you try Poisson Cru and if you like it.
I ate that frequently when in French Polynesia and loved it.
It’s raw fish marinated in coconut and lime juice.
-
The lime juice “cooks” the fish, sort of.
The fish in poisson cru, and in ceviche, is “cooked”,and “not cooked”.
-
What is it, Schrödinger’s fish?
😉
-
I liked the SAMI trailer very much.
Looking forward to watching the series.
-
George, do you have many SITPWG rehearsals this month?
I just got the rehearsal calendar today, and I do have one music rehearsal on the 25th, then April 1st and 3rd.
-
Then the read-through and staging rehearsals start on the 4th!
-
Bora Bora Let's Dance the Hora - that's the title song of my new musical.
-
Dear reader Iris, that's why this place is so necessary, to get each other through the really difficult times.
-
I'm not sure I care for page seven.
-
I'm not feeling well at all.
-
Throat is a little less scratchy, though. The Claritin-D is working a bit better tonight but not at full speed. I'm gonna also take an aspirin.
-
Now I must write some damn notes.
-
I did watch a rather inept Lifetime movie about a real-life case - the case was interesting and could have made a fine film, but when you hire bad writers and directors and use a boatful of ordinary Canadian actors because that's where it's cheapest to film, this is what you come out with - a plate of mediocrity. Apparently, there's a documentary about this and I'll go searching for that.
-
Gratuitous Post #201!!
-
ONE POST SINCE 11:00???
-
George must have taken his marbles and gone down some damn rabbit hole.
-
He certainly abandoned us in our time of need.
-
Probably up to the likes of me to find page eight.
-
Because I'm the only one in the damn jernt.
-
Me and my shadow.
-
And Tinkerbell.
-
And her faerie dust.
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See? The minute I mention it, the page changes.
-
I've looked at clouds from both sides now. Have you?
-
George must have taken his marbles and gone down some damn rabbit hole.
I can't find my TV remote! :o
-
George has deserted us. We got no marbles because he took 'em all.
-
My TV doesn't have a button to turn it on, so I need to keep looking for it.
-
You would have found it if you hadn't abandoned us in our time of need.
-
I'd make some posts first - then you'll be able to find it easily in between the cushions on the couch. Or in the bathroom.
-
I have no idea what I could've done with it. :P
-
Or your car. I told you it wouldn't work in your car, but nooooo, you had to try it anyway.
-
Your remote is really remote.
-
I'm on my phone, so I at least can post before the end of today.
-
Check between the couch cushions. Check the terlet, check the kitchen, the trash, and then the top of the TV.
-
It has to be there somewhere. Check your pockets.
-
I'd make some posts first - then you'll be able to find it easily in between the cushions on the couch. Or in the bathroom.
My TV is up in my bedroom, so there's couch to search.
-
I'm going downstairs to see if I might've brought it down there for some stupid reason.
-
Check under the covers.

Check your dresser drawers.

-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
