Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with gunk, and now it is time for you to post until the gunkified cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CEILIDH!
-
Sorry about falling asleep last night while reading my book, but it happens. ::) It's not a reflection on the book. I am enjoying it, for the most part.
-
Notes devoured. Welcomed.
-
Why would Amazon care if you chose free for Amazon Primers? Lame.
-
Good morning, all!
-
This week is rushing by too fast for me. Part of the problem is, I was out two days this week, and that essentially loses the day for me: by the time I've returned home, my body aches from the exertion, my legs have reached their limit for the day, it's afternoon, and I've lsot my entire morning.
-
I did sleep rather well, until arond 5:00 when Stella and Thatch began acting up and acting out. Annabelle was happy to be buried under the blankets with me. Thatch seemed unsure if he wanted to settle next to me or just pop in, check out the scene, and then do something else, like tear up the window blinds or drag a meyel dish across the floor. Twice, Stella walked over my head before jumping from the bed.
-
I've lost two ballet days this week, so I need to make a big dent in No. 8, our leading lady's first solo, which I'm scoring for guitar and harmonica.
-
DR singdaw, it's nice to hear good news about your aunt.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Glad the word of the day will never be in Wordle.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I will be out much of the day, carrying a banner and tending to a few other things.
-
Today is my sister Linda’s birthday.
-
Later, gators. Vibes for a good day for all of us!
-
Good morning, friends.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DS Linda!!
-
I don’t want to stir today.

Or shake.

The time change is still bothering me.

Dental appointment later.

~~~PRAYERS AND VIBES OF EVERY SORT FOR A HUMUNGOUS, GIANT, FAMILY-SIZED MAJOR MIRACLE~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!
Annoying about Office365. Glad it was resolved.
TOD: I think Amazon should allow content creators to charge or not to charge as they see fit. Annoyingly annoying.
Good morning
Let's get some posting going on.
Headache of the morning. Will a reader who sees “AF” on a page know that it means Africa and not “as f—-?”
Or Air Force.
BK, have you seen Romi and Michele’s High School Reunion? Mira Sorvino is funny in it. Sweet comedy.
Good morning!
Wordle: No luck today
Or Ambercrombie & Fitch?
-
ALLEGRO FURIOSO!
-
No, I wouldn’t know it was an abbreviation for Africa - unless that context was somehow already established.
In the Griffin Theater no less.
-
Wow lots going on for our Dear Readers.
-
I am afraid I don't understand the entire streaming business.
I certainly can't afford Amazon Prime.....but I would guess they can do anything they want to do - and do.
I know back in the day there was a law that movie makers/tv creators couldn't own broadcasters. And then that went away (I'm sure big money changed hands) and we have ABC/Disney and Comcast-Universal/NBC and who knows what else......they want our money AND our eyeballs.
-
Those Griffins do seem to get around.
-
The Beach Boys got around, too.
-
DR Jrand72, if you had worn a green suit and used a green screen, could they have given you four different outfits digitally?
-
Let's get off this page.
-
In one...
Three.
Dentist done. Treating myself to a raspberry croissant as a reward.
-
From DR John:
I can’t make this stuff up. Sadly someone else did.
:D
-
John, I was relieved to see your next post that you turned it off ;D
-
From Bruce:
I do not understand any book that's 1,000 pages, sorry.
I used to love long books, then they lasted longer.
-
Now I tend to get restless in the middle of a book and am fine with most books not lasting that long-lol
-
Maybe because I don't read as fast as I used to.
-
If I opened The Ink Black Heart on my Libby app it would likely tell me the book is 5,000 pages.
-
Overdrive counts the pages as if I was reading a hard copy, same with my Kindle & Nook apps.
-
The most annoying change between my Overdrive app & Libby is that the photos on Libby look like negatives. Has anyone else using Libby noticed this problem?
-
Sorry about falling asleep last night while reading my book, but it happens. ::) It's not a reflection on the book. I am enjoying it, for the most part.
I do it all the time. I just wish I stayed asleep for the rest of the night.
Ditto!
Happy birthday to Linda.
Headache of the morning. Will a reader who sees “AF” on a page know that it means Africa and not “as f—-?”
I don't think so.
-
Today is my sister Linda’s birthday.
A Very Happy Birthday to Linda!! :D
-
From Bruce:
I do not understand any book that's 1,000 pages, sorry.
I used to love long books, then they lasted longer.
It all depends on the book. I read that Galbraith book in a week. The January 6th Report was also more than 1,000 pages, and I read it in a week, too.
-
I recall reading the 1,200 pages of War and Peace in seven marathon sessions.
-
But, as Sondheim says, I was younger then.
-
TOD: I think Amazon should allow content creators to charge or not to charge as they see fit. Annoyingly annoying.
I wonder if it might be because Amazon gets a cut of everything "sold" and that would be given away. Even if they wold normally take let's say 50%, 50% of zero dollars is zero dollars to Amazon.
-
Just a thought.
If I opened The Ink Black Heart on my Libby app it would likely tell me the book is 5,000 pages.
My Kindle gives percentages, and "locations." Right now, I'm at 35% and location # 6781 of 19107.
-
As for the equivalent number of pages for the physical book, I got that information from Amazon's page for the hardback edition.
-
The most annoying change between my Overdrive app & Libby is that the photos on Libby look like negatives. Has anyone else using Libby noticed this problem?
I wonder if that's a setting. Some apps have that. I switched my Twitter app to have the dark background with white letters.
Lovely! Congratulations to DR elmore3003, and thanks to DR John G. for the heads up.
If I opened The Ink Black Heart on my Libby app it would likely tell me the book is 5,000 pages.
More than the 1024 pages Amazon books states it is.
My Kindle gives percentages, and "locations." Right now, I'm at 35% and location # 6781 of 19107.
The Libby count is so outrageous that I only use the percentage to determine where I am in the book.
-
Interestingly, Goodreads says "Ink" is 1408 pages. Doing a search I have seen a variety of page numbers-odd they aren't all the same.
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of sleep. Guck must be de-guckified.
-
I normally use Goodreads for my book count. So far, except now Libby, my reading apps have been fairly close.
-
As for the equivalent number of pages for the physical book, I got that information from Amazon's page for the hardback edition.
Nook also agreed with your count.
I always read with a dark background and white letters. I haven't seen anything to adjust the page setting. It is worth double checking if I can do that.
Yes, I think Amazon took away the free option because they don't get anything that way. Of course, they DO get Prime memberships that way, but you can't argue with Amazon. But you don't have to be a Prime member to watch our series - it's just we have no option not to charge and we've chosen the cheapest option there is.
I'm also looking into other platforms - we're not exclusive to Amazon. I found a company people love that's much like CD Baby in that they make it available to every streaming service, should that streaming service care to have it. I can also offer it to B'way World but I really cannot abide the design of that site - it's almost impossible to navigate and find stuff.
-
DR ELMORE is the name on the lips of all the TheatreManiacs!
-
How about Broadway HD?
-
They're a bit of an expensive subscription, but they've got loads of musical theater, once you're in.
So do I. It's completely impossible this time.
-
I finished No. 8 today. Tomorrow morning I will look it over, make any adjustments, and go on to No.9.
-
My brain is like scrambled eggs
-
With cheese, I hope.
-
I don't understand a single thing about TikTok, but I think I managed to "follow" samitheseries.
-
While I was out carrying the banner, I got nabbed for a partial gig - playing the piano book for two orchestra rehearsals and one performance on INTO THE WOODS at Marist College in Poughkeepsie. They've had a terrible time getting a player for that. I would have taken the whole thing right away when offered if I hadn't have conflicts. The person they got to do "most" of it still can't do it all, but I can do those three dates. So that's good.
-
I'll be there for it on Amazon Prime.
I have no knowledge of, and no desire for having an account at, either Instagram or TikTok, so the Prime will be fine for me.
-
I hope it comes with a Prime Rib.
-
;)
BK, will the series ever be released on DVD or Blu-ray?
-
Or what about a soundtrack CD? Is that going to be an option?? ;D
-
WGA envelope was NOT at the mail place - annoying.
Waiting for lunch to arrive.
Has anyone, aside from DR Vixmom, watched The Last of Us?
-
The series has a rating of 9.0 on IMDB.
-
The first two episodes received 9.2 & 9.1 ratings.
-
The 3rd episode, Long, Long Time about the relationship between Bill & Frank, dropped to 8.0. Suspecting this almost stand alone episode ratings was due to the subject matter, Keith did a bit of sleuthing.
-
Sadly there was a drastic increase in the number of votes for this episode trashing it >:(
-
In our opinion the episode was worthy of a 10, and Keith went to IMDB and rated it, something we rarely do.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Elmore, very glad to hear your excellent eye report. Vibes all is 100% in a week.
-
Good news, too, from Singdaw about his aunt. Continued auntie vibes.
-
Hello, Jeanne! How are you?
-
I am still in banking hell. I thought it was all straightened out on Monday afternoon, but yesterday it happened again -- something triggered a fraud alert and I was shut out of my account. Not funny. I had a long talk today with someone from the bank's efraud department. He was much more knowledgable than most of the other bank reps I've talked to -- and I've talked to many this past week -- but even he can't explain why it's happening. This is not encouraging. He unlocked my account for me, though, and I have his direct dial number should it happen again.
-
DR Jeanne, I am shocked it happened again. This has got to be terribly frustrating. Did you decide if you are going to switch banks?
-
In the meantime, I've set up an account at another bank. I'm presently applying for a credit card there and setting up billpay. I'm also rethinking which credit cards I use and checking into rebate points. I've now spoken to four people over the phone at the new bank and all four were knowledgeable and professional, something I can't say about the old bank. But all of this has taken an enormous amount of time. I'm being quite careful because I don't want to make a change only to find I have the same problems with the new bank. I really dislike things that rob my time.
-
Hi, Jane.
Hi, John G.
-
Hi Jeanne.
-
DR Jeanne, I hope all works out well with the new bank.
-
DR Jeanne, I am shocked it happened again. This has got to be terribly frustrating. Did you decide if you are going to switch banks?
Even more shocking to me that they don't know why it's happening. I learned today that every fraud alert is assigned to a fraud analyst to investigate. That didn't happen last week. Why? Overloaded with work is one possibility. As for the lack of training of some of the reps, the guy I spoke to today wasn't at all surprised. He admitted that they're having a hard time keeping their reps adequately trained.
-
Thanks, Jane. I hope so, too.
-
Jeanne, might the bank robbing you of your time have the initials WF?
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
That seems like an issue most places these days :(
-
Feeling lightheaded. Not sure why.
-
Jeanne, might the bank robbing you of your time have the initials WF?
No. I had an account with them about 10 years ago. They were HORRIBLE, pressuring me to open a savings account, which I didn't want. I closed the account after 2 months and joined US Bank, which was great at first. After a couple years something changed -- change of senior management, I suspect -- and it all went downhill. They're the ones I'm having trouble with now.
Yes. I think the Great Resignation was partly responsible. Lots of people relatively new to their jobs. Also the work ethic just isn't what it was when I was growing up. Plus many firms hire people with little or no training, saying, "We'll train you," but they just don't do an adequate job. So many reasons. I do feel that better pay goes a long way to retaining employees.
My four calls to the new bank were partly my way of checking out their customer service.
That's terrible! >:( But good news about the much more knowledgable person.
-
I haven't been with an actual bank since shortly after I graduated from college. I've been exclusively at credit unions ever since and have never had any trouble...not that it still can't happen, but it just hasn't. :-\
-
Well, yet. ::)
;)
PAGE SIX DANCE!!
-
Starting an early James Mason drama called The Night Has Eyes. Good, creepy tale in an old English mansion on the moors.
-
I went to the library to pick up a movie that had come in. Turns out seven movies were ready.
They vary from the silly (Strange Brew) to Women Talking and I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
WF has a terrible reputation, something we discovered after our bad experience with them. I have no experience with US Bank. It is sad they have gone downhill.
I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Well, at least you know how!
May we all be de-gunkified.
Financially, phlegm-wise, or otherwise.
Good night, friends.
The Greg Abbott page is lame, but the Kari Lake is pretty funny.
-
Starting Bones and All. Mark Rylance is amazing, even if the movie is odd.
-
Banking vibes for DR JEANNE.
-
DR JOHN G a lot of Hisense tv's are sold in my neighborhood, I see at least one empty box set out for the trash man somewhere every week.
-
Former DR MBARNUM says hello to all his friends here at HHW.
He is avoiding social media and living his life.....still writing....and being nice to folks who are not so nice in return.
He says he may drop in to say hello - after he creates a new account, so we await the day.......
-
That would be lovely.
And let's hope it's sooner than later.
Where in tarnation IS everyone.
More gunk today than yesterday - hoping that means it's just breaking up and will be gone by Saturday.
Had a Chinese chicken salad for food.
I'm more fond of page seven.
Starting Bones and All. Mark Rylance is amazing, even if the movie is odd.
MARK RYLANCE!!!! I was trying to think of his name today while visiting WFO , thank you John
-
I received a call this evening from a woman in the fraud department at the old bank. She said that she was checking to make sure everything was "OK," that she saw that my account had been reopened. OK?! OK?! She thinks this is OK? It is not OK at all. I have no confidence whatsoever that I won't get locked out again. Her explanation of why it happened doesn't match the facts or explain why it keeps happening. Then she said that no system is perfect and sometimes there's a "false positive," ie, the system catches something that isn't fraudulent at all. Her attitude is that this is just the way it is and nothing can be done. I detest that attitude! I told her that software is written by humans and humans can change it. Their security protocols are inadequate and need to be changed. She wasn't happy when I said I'd lost confidence in the bank and would be switching to another bank. How could anyone think that this situation was OK?
ARRRGGHHHHH!!
-
Yes, we would like a visit from Mike Barnum.
-
Good night.
-
Congrats Elmore on Dear World!
-
DR Jeanne, I recommend Charles Schwab. Best customer service.
-
I was once in a production of The Madwoman of Chaillot. I played the Sewer Man, and maybe something else. It was not a good play. Songs might’ve helped. There was a guy whose job in one scene was just to juggle. Upset that he had no lines, as the scene would end, he’d ad-lib, “I’m just the juggler!” Completely insane.
-
A lovely day in French Polynesia as we fair Rodzinskis battle against sunburn.
Gunk-free vibes for BK.
Continuing with Viola Davis’s Finding Me. Really enjoying it.
-
Good night, all.
-
Page seven? Really?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
I think I took a photo of the “crux” aka the Southern Cross, in the sky tonight.
-
I can’t get my Google here to not be in French.
-
I’m out here in the South Pacific with 0 Guests to help me get us to page 8.
-
Egregious post #200
-
I saw Mark Rylance in Bete Noir on Broadway with that most astonishing like 30-minute monologue that introduces his character. A feat most amazing to behold.
-
No George? No George?
-
He fell asleep again?
-
He went down a rabbit hole again?
-
He did everything but show up to post again?
-
This seems very unseemly to me.
-
Guess we'll have to do the heavy lifting.
-
I'm sure page eight is somewhere close by.
-
How can it not be?
-
Is there gaslighting going on?
-
See? There was.
-
And now we're on page eight and George still isn't here.
-
No George.
-
Absent.
-
One demerit.
-
We are not amused.
-
Not at all.
-
We are, however, coughing.
-
Oh, yes, we are coughing.
-
Coughing sans George.
-
He is being of no help.
-
Well, let's see if he shows up.
-
Because right now it's just me and six GUESTS.
-
But before I go...
That's fantastic!
-
Today, I went to J-Ann's and bought another frame for one of my window cards.
-
The sale is still 40% off, but it looks like they're not replenishing their stock...at least, not yet.
-
There was one frame that I really liked, but the glass was cracked. :P
-
I brought it home and then my sister asked it I would go shopping for her...again.
-
How did 6 guests suddenly appear?
-
The family is going to her place on Saturday for our quasi-weekly family dinner, so I picked up her debit card and went shopping.
-
She said that I could get myself something on her, so I bought some Meconi's Subs (https://www.meconissubs.com/) gift cards. ;D
-
After Costco, I had a couple of things that I needed to get at Fred Meyer, so I went there, too.
Just remember that I will most likely show up, unless I know I won't be back in time. Then, I'll post that.
