Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a modern major miracle, and now it is time for you to post until the modern major cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FANFARE!

Topic of the Day: I can't think of any hoax that captured my imagination or fancy. :-\ There may have been, but I just can't think of any.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
Glad to see that many pages were added last night after I went to bed.
-
After all, we have HHW standards to maintain.
-
Strange but vivid dreams in which many people from my past that I haven't thought of in a long while made prominent cameos.
-
~~~MORE MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for BK!!!!!!
-
Very much looking forward to the The Secret Garden report.
-
Boy, does it take a lot of posts to fill a page.
-
Too many.
-
But then, I've got plenty o' nothing.
-
There's so much more where that came from.
-
Here's an Irish blessing I meant to post yesterday:
-
May those who love us, love us.
-
And for those who don't love us,
-
May God turn their hearts.
-
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
-
May He turn their ankles
-
So we will know them by their limping.
-
:)
-
And we're still not on page two.
-
The agony.
-
Good morning, all!
-
And the ecstasy.
-
It's already been a weird day, and I hope to God the weirdness stops ASAP.
-
Mustn't forget the ecstasy.
-
I slept well, but I did not want to get out of bed this morning. Maybe it's laziness. At 6:30 I figured genug ist genug and got out of bed.
-
And it's gonna be a another
hot weird day.
-
Two.
-
Today is a long ballet day.
-
I wonder if Irving Stone and Peter Stone were related.
-
Wow. Julia McKenzie could really sing back in the day!
Good morning, all.
I’ve already got a late start, and it’s a rehearsal day. It’s Saturday, so there must be a sitzprobe somewhere, right?
This one’s Addams Family.
I am the very model of a modern major miracle
When hope is needed, I am one who always waxes lyrical
The inspiration strikes in sizes trapezoid and spherical
I think this silly babble is both pithy and satirical.
Wow. The Rink has been ranked.
And found wanting.
I'll never forget the time that former DR Jose introduced me to Mr. Kander.
During Skin of Our Teeth at the Westport Country Playhouse.
DR JOSE knows everyone!
Cocngrats to MR BK on the major miracle and vibes for a green envelope....and feeling better.
-
No more weirdness vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I'm not sure I understand what happened in DR JOHN G's link - but I guess it's about makeup and trans people.....and someone got all mad and stuff.
Then someone got fired!
-
Hahaha.....DR RODZINSKI.
It was very sad. Now I don't have to watch anymore NCAA games in the tournament.....although I may see how far FDU gets.
-
TOD:
The Lee Israel letters.....
The Howard Hughes bogus bio.....
The MOCKINGBIRD sequel that Harper Lee did not want published, but after her death, her greedy relatives published it anyway.
TOD Hoax:
Speaking of hoaxes, what is going on with all these fake, or premature, celebrity death stories on the Internet?
DR Rodzinski, I like that your wife has long time friends close by. If I didn't dislike LA so much I would like to live there to be close to family and friends.
DR JOSE knows everyone!
It seems that way.
And he know where to eat in almost every major city.
They ought to sack that general manager.
Taking a breather from it today. Trying to finish Percival Everett’s Dr. No first. It’s hilarious. Requires full concentration.
I shall now be on my way to the Music Center.
-
Back to Bones and All. Very surprised to see a short scene with the great Jessica Harper. We were talking about Shock Treatment here the other day.
-
I’m not the sure Bones and All is any good, but the acting is. Except for Timothee Chalamet.
"Shut your yap tracks" would make a great retort.
Not familiar with this. The first three I watched were a hoot.
Works for me.
-
Watching a German film with a title too long to remember. 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance. Pretty interesting. The tales of 71 people who were in a bank when a shooting occurred. We’re told at the beginning three people died. But who they were we won’t know until the end.
-
Four’s a bore.
One more.
Five!
Hello, 0 guests!
Where did everyone go?
Out for pancakes?
The tales of 71 people who were in a bank when a shooting occurred.
Interesting concept. Intriguing.
DR singdaw those Rob McClure videos were funny.
My favorite was "Joining Equity."
I was in Vatican Square once and asked the stranger next to me:
"Isn't that the Pope on the right?"
I hope MR BK is enjoying the antics at that musical show.....The Secret Garden.
Hello, everyone.
-
All the stress from the banking nightmare prompted me to indulge in some foods I must be very careful with and now I am feeling quite miserable and having a very, very bad day. Ugh!
-
Jane, the efraud department woman did apologize -- repeatedly -- but she threw it away with her blase, uncaring attitude and remarks like "Well, these things happen" and "No system's perfect." She refused to acknowledge that their security protocols are flawed and that something needs to be done so that this doesn't happen again, whether to me or someone else. She acted like it was a minor issue and that nothing could be done. That's when I gave her (brief) lecture #23 on software can be fixed. Her "Glad everything's OK now" simply didn't work for me.
-
Rodzinski, thanks for the recommendation to Charles Schwab. I was familiar with them as a brokerage, but didn't realize I could do banking with them. I've noticed that the financial institutions that handle large deposits tend to be much nicer to their customers that those who handle smaller ones.
-
Yesterday while running errands, I stopped at the little salad bar/soup bar/juice bar/sandwich bar, but found that they've closed permanently! NO! The owner was there and told me that Snapchat has taken over much of the nearby business park and has their own cafeteria offering free food. All the surrounding eateries are hurting. Everyone thought that once Covid was over people would return to the office and to the nearby eateries, but it hasn't happened. The parking lot was what you'd expect on a Sunday. Many of the offices are vacant, and those that are occupied only see workers a few days a week. It's really sad. It was such a nice little area and a great salad bar.
Sorry you relapsed. I do the same when stressed.
At least she apologized. It is a shame her attitude needed improving.
Starting Empire of Light, which I recall BK disliked. I can’t say I like the scene where Olivia Colman has to give her boss (Colin Firth) a hand job.
-
I did get another 100 pages into my Zola novel, The Debacle. I’ve read my share of anti-war war novels, but this may be the graphic and horrifying. So much so, I had to take a break.
I only have 90 or so pages left.
Which I would kill for.
I am back from the Garden. I'll say a bit in the notes - our Ava was excellent especially considering that NO ONE worked with her or Sadie. That's right - one put in and on you go. We'll start with the anemic ten-piece band playing a score that demands more of a band. First, I have never seen The Secret Garden and I'm not sure I've ever heard the entire score. I do know they've mucked around with, cutting two numbers, moving one to the first act, etc. Well, let me cut to the chase - it's one of the worst directed shows I've ever seen. Whatever talents the director has as a choreographer have clearly not followed him into directing. The blocking is high schoolish, and his choreography is just people flitting about the stage occasionally, not that there's really room for choreography. One of his most inane decisions was to have cholera, yes, the disease, embodied by a female dancer flitting about the stage offing people. And I don't believe I've seen an uglier and more misbegotten set than this one. You can find pictures online, although the one they use most of rain falling in the middle of that hideous "S" thing that takes up most of the stage looks great in the photo because - the photo is staged. I doesn't really look like that in the show. I know Ken Billington is a fine lighting designer, but the lighting is just not good and perhaps that's what the non-director wanted. The costumes are the same - drab and dreary straight down the line. The cast is okay - very multi-racial, of course - it's fine. The Archibald - they keep calling him a hunchback but there's no hump or anything at all that would lead you to believe that's true. He sings well, but his acting is very declamatory in style and, for me anyway, playing AT things. The Neville is okay but I gather the cut stuff affects both roles. Julia Lester is good as the maid - just a few years ago she was a schoolmate of Sami. Theater needs magic and there is zero magic to do here. The most fun was watching Ava take the stage and own it. We hugged after the show and she'll be returning to Kritzerland very soon.
-
Traffic going there was horrible. Coming home was better.
-
The Big Biscuit just opened in town.
https://bigbiscuit.com/the-big-biscuit-menu/
-
I ran into Shannon Cudd there - she was Donna in The Brain from Planet X at the Chance Theater.
-
I wonder if I ever even bought the cast album of The Secret Garden. A cursory look in the garage did not reveal it.
-
I did get another 100 pages into my Zola novel, The Debacle. I’ve read my share of anti-war war novels, but this may be the graphic and horrifying. So much so, I had to take a break.
I think I will pass.
-
That's too bad, BK. It sounds like a big missed opportunity. I can't remember now how cholera was portrayed in the original production.
-
Both the OBC and the London cast recordings are available on iTunes. I really love the score.
-
I wonder if I ever even bought the cast album of The Secret Garden. A cursory look in the garage did not reveal it.
When we lived in Ashland you gave me a copy of The Secret Garden. I kept it in my car and frequently listened to it.
I don't remember that, at least it not looking ridiculous.
'night
-
But did you like the show, BK? I couldn’t tell.
-
Dancing death. Hard pass.
-
Now, if covid did a soft shoe …
-
Empire of Light is very well acted and not worth your time. Together with Bones and All, it has made for a lackluster day of movies.
-
Laryngitis could do a tango.
-
And scurvy a tarantello.
-
And gout the limbo.
-
Venereal disease would have to do the Lambada - the Forbidden Dance.
-
And inner ear infection the polka.
-
And tinnitus a gigue.
-
I guess this train of thought is a bit morbid.
-
But cholera started it.
-
One more.
Seven!
Good night, friends.
Whooping cough can do the waltz.
Tonsillitis can do the twist.
Wow, that was still on TV in the 70’s? I was watching it when I was a little kid, but I think the host was Sonny Fox
-
Had a lot of fun at the gaming convention
-
It’s being held in the Cradle of Aviation Museum , so in between games and touring the vendors we could check out the exhibits
-
Sounds like fun, Vixmom.
-
I finally finished The Debacle. Only two more novels of the 20 in this series to go.
-
Good night, all.
-
Don't care for page seven.
-
Page eight is much better.
-
And where, for example, is TCB?
-
Where, for example, is George?
-
Not here.
-
Certainly not here.
-
Here they aren't.
-
Perhaps elsewhere.
-
But not here.
-
I do not see them.
-
And therefore one must surmise that they are not here.
I do love the score. The original recording with Rebecca Luker and the original cast was the best.
