Well, you've read the notes, you know who the winner is, and now it is time for you to post until the winning cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: FRUCTIFY!
-
BK, last night you wrote:
Stage Door put out a 1966 London album? I hope they licensed it properly from BMG/Sony because only pre-1964 is out of copyright unless something has changed. Has something changed?
The original Broadway cast recording was released in 1966, so there was nothing before then. This is the 1968 original (and only) London cast recording.
-
And they did license it properly, so that's good.
-
Good to know. :)
-
Also, a couple of days ago, I received from eBay a CD of the demo recordings to a musical version of Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile by Janet Gari (Eddie Cantor's daughter) and Toby Garson. Brian Gari (Janet's son) mentioned in the Cast Album Collectors group on FB that it's available, so I got one. I'm listening to it now and it's quite delightful. I also added it to CastAlbums.org (https://castalbums.org/):
https://castalbums.org/recordings/Lyle-A-New-Musical-1969-Demo/47790/ (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Lyle-A-New-Musical-1969-Demo/47790/)

I slept okay. I had a dream last night about rehearsing something. My friend Bruce Pomahac, who died last summer, was in it, as well as several music copyists I know.

I don't think I have ever listened to any symphonies by Roy Harris. Perhaps I should.

Many people don't know that ROY HARRIS is an anagram for SIR HARRY O.

I asked ChatGPT why a shave and a haircut costs two bits.
The phrase "shave and a haircut, two bits" comes from an old-timey jingle associated with barbershops in the United States. "Two bits" is a colloquial term for 25 cents, as a "bit" was historically equal to an eighth of a dollar or 12.5 cents. The expression dates back to the days when the Spanish dollar was widely used in the U.S., which could be divided into eight smaller silver coins called "reales" or "pieces of eight."
The jingle likely originated in the early 20th century when a shave and a haircut at a barbershop could actually cost around 25 cents. Over time, the phrase became a part of popular culture and has been used in various contexts, such as in songs, movies, and television shows. Today, the expression is often used more for its nostalgic or humorous value, rather than as an accurate reflection of current barbershop prices.

They must have saved a lot of money on [the lack of] costumes for the Bad Cinderella hunks.

But maybe the extra body makeup required eats up the savings.

Had a dream about working on the building of a hotel during the 19th century. Nobody was in charge of how the rooms were to be decorated. I was supposed to review the final results. Some of the rooms were visually nice, but everyone skimped on the furnishings, bad beds, bad mattresses, etc.

That’s what I get for reading Zola before bed.

I want to experiment with the peaches. I’m sure they will not be ripe, but they may be okay if I sauté them first.

May I just say, thank goodness for health insurance? My bill for my recent physical, including all the lab work, shots, etc, etc. was over $1,000.
What was my payment responsibility? $12.
That's not to say that the health care system is not massively broken.

TOD:
I like the films mentioned by DR ELMORE & DR VIXMOM.
I will add:
Jacqueline Susann's Valley of the Dolls - a tv movie two parter - he played Henry Bellamy, the owner of the talent agency.
Affliction
The Carey Treatment
The Last of Sheila
The Honkers

Well - I got through BABYLON. I wish there had been someone I liked among the characters. I guess Manny was the only one to cheer for.
I liked the assistant director yelling when Margot Robbie was trying to get through her first scene with sound....
But mostly it was just TOO much. And Robbie's clothes were completely wrong for the era....but then....
Brad Pitt was my favorite part of the movie....he and Manny.

Crappy weather here today.
None of that Bad Stuff, but it's cold and rainy all day, and there was some sleet earlier.
-
DR Jane, safe travels! So glad you made your connection.
I don’t know how Dolly Parton chose the books but it was a good selection of classics like The Little Engine That Could to newer stuff. The second-to-last was a book based on her song about a coat.
It is a great program, very generous of her.

Back in the 90s, I actually used to have a radio program (much like Donald Feltham's...just not as good) on a local community radio station, and Brian sent me a couple of CDs, which I did play. :)

Meeting was good. All of the troublemakers stayed far away since some physical work was planned before the meeting and they aren't interested in doing any work other than being flapperjaws.

Came back and watched a silent film called The Ladies’ Paradise. Fun update of Zola, all about big business driving the little guy away. Could have been told today about Walmart.
-
Now starting a Dario Argento flick called Phenomena. But horror before bed isn’t my favorite. I probably won’t watch much.
-
Hello! I hope everyone is well.
-
The past two days have been rather trying for me as I have had a bout of vertigo. Not certain why, but major nasal congestion likely had something to with it.
It was at its worst on Thursday. I simply could not go to sleep, although I remember dreaming something gosh-darned ridiculous. It repeated and repeated and repeated.
All day Friday, I was lethargic and a bit off-balance throughout the day.
Oddly, that night, my congestion broke and I put myself to bed early.
Today was somewhat better. As long as I don't have to walk any distance, I am fine.
I hate getting old.
-
I tell you the preceding only as my excuse for being errant & truant.
-
Feel better vibes, Ron.
-
Whew. Back. With a car full of gear that will be unloaded on the morrow.
No par-tay for the likes of this DR. This was a high school production that was extremely good and the kids were preparing to have a celebration on the stage afterwards, but it was strictly for them. And we players were quite willing to get our stuff packed up and go. It was a very satisfying one-week gig.
-
Tomorrow I go to see a friend's closing matinee of URINETOWN at a nearby school, mainly because I'd promised to several months back when he was doing me the favor of playing in my CARRIE band.
My next stop for three nights during the coming week are some woods where there's a witch and a lot of accidentals.

We walked the short distance to the train staintion and purchased our tickets.

For food this evening, I wanted a calorie friendly meal and that is what I had and it was unusual for me. I sautéed onions, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and zucchini strings, and a couple of small chicken filets. That was it, and it was really quite tasty if I do say so myself and I do and I don't care who knows it.

I suppose George is down some rabbit hole or other.

What else is new?

Conversely, what else is old?

Answer: Me.

What am I, doing a monologue? I really must write some notes.

Gratuitous Post #222!!
-
Today, we had music rehearsal for Sunday in the Park With George.
-
We went through each new song in sections, but then we wouldn't sing the whole song from the beginning. :o
-
What's that all about??
-
But, at least we got the actual music book today.
-
That's helpful!
-
Last time, my friend Kyle shared the score that he had printed out from the PDF that we all were sent.
-
I just never found (took) the time to print it.
-
But now that I have it, I can do that and write all over it without worrying about mass erasing after the show.
-
I remember doing shows back in the 90s where we'd get the sides and vocal book and we'd all go through and erase all the scores together...usually at a cast party.
-
Good times. ;)
-
I was thinking about going to see Broadway Olympia's production of The Last Five Years.
-
I don't think my friend Shelly would want to see it, but Margo might.
-
And even if she doesn't, I'll probably go by myself.
-
I have no problem seeing a show by myself. :)

Is there gaslighting going on here?

To paraphrase Joanne, I've done it hundreds of times.
