Well, you've read the notes, you are jiggy with the notes, the notes are jiggy with you, and now it is time for you to post until the wonderful, wonderful cows come home.

DR MATTH's post from yesterday;
Quote
After that finished, I just kept that DVD in the player and began watching the Katharine Hepburn autobiographical documentary "All About Me." I've always loved this feature, and watched about half of it before turning off everything and getting on-line for my last surf before bedtime

DR MATTH,
Did you finish and enjoy the Katharine Hepburn autobiographical documentary "All About Me”? It must be great and I’d like to see it and give it to my mother, but I couldn’t find a DVD/VHS named “All About Me”(for Katharine Hepburn) on amazon.jp., however, have found the VHS on amazon.com. Is that the one you have?

Good morning, all!  The Henry Willson bio is quite dishy, but not so scandalous as I thought it might be.  Of course, it'sd early yet.

Dear Friend BK, I think you had one humdinger of a day!  I look forward to the photos.

I heard from the lovely Miss Susan Egan last night.  I had emailed her to tell her how much I've been enjoying her new recording "Coffee House."  She was so wonderful in TRIUMPH OF LOVE, another flop that deserved much better.

Good morning DR Elmore. My thoughts to New York and to your whole country on this day.

Hello, DRTomovoz!  Yes, the 9/11 portions I saw on the 11:00 pm news last night had me weeping so badly I had to turn off the television.  I still cry whenever I walk past a firehouse.  The last girlfriend of my best friend from college was on the first plane to hit the World Trade Center, and one of my colleagues on the recording project lost a friend who lived across from the Trade Center.  We think he walked out to see what was going on and the building collapsed on him.  I will never understand such hatred.

I recently read two ographies recently. One bi and the other auto.

The bi one was Paul Lynde (who wasn't). A sad story of a talented man. Who destroyed many personal and professional relationships through drink. Not very well written, but does give some insight to the man that I did not know before.

I had an advance reader's copy so I don't know if that means that this was the final version or there were more changes to come.

The auto one was by Craig Chester an actor who has appeared in many indie films and the one that most people might know him from was Kiss Me Guido. Some interesting stories about growing up and then trying to make it as an openly gay actor.

My favorite story was a trip to the zoo, monkeys and sh*t gernades.

Last night, DR Jose wrote: "Well, then that would mean that most of the shows that have opened and closed during the past ten to fifteen years - or might even still be running - would be a flop.

And that would include a bunch of Sondheim.  I don't think the original production of Into the Woods made back it's investment in NYC.  And if it did, it was not exactly a sizable return.  And I know the revival of Woods closed in the red.  Passion ran just about a year, and won the Tony - flop?  Sunday in the Park with George?  The Forum revival?

Even ALW's Sunset Blvd...

Etc., etc., etc."

Absolutely true, DR Jose. SOndheim hasn't had a show pay off in its original production since A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, and since BK didn't define what he meant by "flop," I assumed we could use our own discretion about choosing how to determine how we viewed the works under consideration.

As for the productions you mentioned, I have made no secret here that even though I'm a passionate Sondheim-head, I had NO passion for PASSION. I didn't see the INTO THE WOODS revival so I couldn't pick that. I did not like SUNSET BLVD. nuch at all.

SUNDAY, the original WOODS, SWEENEY: yep, I could have chosen any of them, but they did run over a year each, so I picked a show that didn't run even a year. Posters' choice, don't ya know. . . .

:)

But the DVD version of this documentary is included as a bonus feature on THE PHILADELPHIA STORY 2-disc DVD set if you're interested in getting it.

I happened to be on-line when the planes went into the Twin Towers, and the fellow I was chatting with told me to run to the TV and turn it on. I sat in a stupor for three days basically. COuldn't stop crying, every mention of it would set off a new round of tears. And now, when I see footage of that tragedy even now, I get so sad. I doubt I will ever really recover from that shock.

And a good morning to everyone!

I finally got a decent night of sleep uninterrupted with thoughts of having to perform with no preparation, etc.

I took my morning walk and then did my usual Sunday morning chores of gooing to the ATM to get spending money for the week and going to the grocery store to beat the weekend shopping crowd.

Now, all I have left is to do laundry (later this morning) and clean the downstairs bathrooms (household chore of the day) and the rest of the day is free.

I'm going to watch RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE today. After seeing all those Astaire-Shearer-Garbo black and white movies, I kind of long for some color now. I'll go back to the classics later in the week.

The next Astaire-Rogers will more than likely be SHALL WE DANCE?

The next Shearer will definitely be ROMEO AND JULIET.

The next Garbo will probably be QUEEN CHRISTINA or MATA HARI.

If QUEEN CHRISTINA looks as grainy as ANNA KARENINA, I will take out the laserdisc of it and compare the two. I didn't have either CAMILLE or KARENINA on laser to do any comparisons, but I do have QUEEN CHRISTINA.

Good morning all!
I was up late again watching BB6 live feeds. I have to get my fix as I'm leaving town for my nephew's wedding Thursday and will be staying where there until Sunday with only dial-up internet and festivities planned during BB6.  I'm almost embarassed to admit how I've become addicted to it! I can TIVO it, so all will not be lost.

LIVE FEED FROM LAST NIGHT

It was actually pretty interesting. April knows she's going home. She has been talking to Janelle a lot. She had a long talk with Maggie and said she feels like she has been manipulated the entire game by Ivette and that she thinks Ivette's influence has made her say and do things she wouldn't have normally done. She said BB told them there was a reason that America keeps picking Janelle and now she thinks it's because Ivette has made them all look bad.

Interesting. Maggie is now worried about the same thing. If they stick with this, the only way Ivette will make the final two is if she wins HOH.

I really wouldn't mind a Maggie/Janelle final two. Maggie would probably win. If it's Ivette/Janelle, Janelle may have a chance. April said she would not vote for Ivette to win the money and if she can convince the others, Janelle could pull it off.

If it's Maggie/Ivette, my guess is Maggie will win.

It's going to be hot again here today.  Temps in the 90s are usually July weather and we've had a week of it. I'm really sick of it! I'm a little concerned that there are possible thunderstorms predicted for net Saturday. My nephew's wedding is a garden wedding, it would be so sad if it rained.

Hi all.

I was at work when the planes hit the towers.  We all went into the conference room to watch the news.

I couldn't believe it.  Still can't believe that anyone could do something so horrible. I can't watch any more stories about what happened because it upsets me so much.

The same about the hurricane.  I was so upset when I heard about the 30 people left in the rest home.  Outraged is more like it.

I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.

I'm charging the camera battery (I didn't even know I could), and then I shall post photographs of last night.

There is some triathalon madness happening today - just about all of Hollywood is blocked off and even some streets near my house.  I just don't like these events.  I asked someone why they did them, and they said because people like to do these events.  Well, there are events I like to do, yet I don't have to make traffic miserable for half the city.

My friend has been deposited at the airport and things are back to normal here.  It was nice to see her after all these years, but there is a weird negative energy that emanates from her and I am very sensitive to that stuff and just can't be around it for long periods.  And she's a smoker, so every hour she was outside puffing away, and then would reek of it.

Same here, DR Danise. Three or four of my classmates in the sixth grade ended up in high school classes because we were in the college prep classes; everyone else from sixth grade went their separate ways in high school.

After high school, no one went to the same college I went to, so that ended our association then, ad I've never seen them since.

The Charlotte marathon route goes right in front of my house, so twice a year, the street is blocked off an entire Saturday morning so those runners have a clear path. Thankfully, there are other ways out of my neighborhood in the event I'd have to leave.

BK, interesting that you talk about a smoking old schoolmate with a negative energy.  Skip recently flew out to California with a  friend for his high school's centennial, and since they were flying together, we were able to upgrade both Skip's and the friend's plane tickets (on our account), and the whole trip, this friend was apparently full of negativity and smelled of smoke.  One fun example was, after the trouble we went to to upgrade her to first class, this friend said during the trip "I'd give you maybe 5 bucks extra for this seat over coach."

Seeing TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA got me thinking of FOLLIES.  I could have sworn the lyric in "Who's That Woman?" was "Hi there! Kiss me, Tarzan" instead of "Hi there, kiss me, Bye there." Valley of the Dolls is nice.

DR MATTH - If only Lana Turner had had Robert Sterling as HER Mike Rossi instead of Lee Philips, then PEYTON PLACE would have been a much more believable movie!  Eleanor Parker is okay as Connie, but Carol Lynley is inadequate as Allison, and Tuesday Weld....WELL!!!   Mary Astor and Lucianna Pallucci are the BEST performers in the movie!

With the New York mayoral primaries coming this Tuesday, there's that famous misheard lyric from the movie of GREASE:  "Hope the city voted for you."  (that is, the misheard version of Hopelessly Devoted to You)

And in honor of Rupert Holmes' blurb about BK's REWIND, there's the person who claimed to have heard "If you like pina coladas" as "If you like bean enchiladas."

I'm surprised by your attitude, dear BK.  These events bring people into the city, not only as participants but as spectators.  That generates tourist money, as they spend their greenbacks on hotels, restaurants, and all sorts of other things.  This money, in turn, gets recycled into the community again as the profits get spent by the local employees on what they want to buy.  Not to mention the tax revenue.

Every year, der B and I could count on not heading into Downtown Long Beach, because of the Long Beach Grand Prix.  In fact, most of Long Beach could count on being caught in a log-jam, as the residents would either be caught within the city street loop of the race course, or in all the traffic surrounding the event.  (Every year, while I was involved in the gay softball league, we'd simply plan on holding the after-game beer bust that day at Mike's Corral, which was located in north Long Beach and therefor well out of the Grand Prix traffic.)  The Grand Prix is one of the city's biggest money-makers.  It was worth it.

Events like this are usually advertised well in advance, so the locals can plan in advance how to live around them.  Relax, kick back with a beverage of choice, and be glad people like to celebrate living.  These days, that's important.

Well, that and the tax revenue.

I do think Mary Astor is the CLASS ACT of RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE. And Jeff Chandler is wonderful to look at and playing what's written. But I can't stand the other "replacements," and unlike DR JRand, I don't think Lucianna is particularly good, but the writing is so bad that it's hard to know who to blame.

The DVD certainly looks wonderful, though. I know the Fox executives have no shame in calling this a "Studio Classic." They know it's junk, but they were hoping a famous name in the title might sell some DVDs, but to put this and THE SONG OF BERNADETTE in the same category of "Studio Classic" is pretty ludicrous.

I have to admit, I like VALLEY OF THE DOLLS a lot more than this. I'd rather IT have been deemed a "Studio Classic."

I've always wondered why Peter Bogdanovich cast Duilio Del Prete in this film. Was he trying to be a starmaker or something, hoping he could lay claim to finding another personality and make him a star like he had done for Cybil Shepherd? Because neither his singing nor his acting is especially wonderful, and he's not even that great to look at.

I do count AT LONG LAST LOVE as a guilty pleasure, but Duilio Del Prete's participation is to me the least enjoyable aspect of the film.

A friend just called to offer me a free ticket to the Carolina Panthers/New Orleans Saints football game this afternoon.

No thanks, I told him. I just have NO interest in actually watching a pro football game, though I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would have killed for this ticket.
Football holds no interest for me.  Football players, on the other hand...

I watching the rest of the Katharine Hepburn documentary, it reminded me that I need to go back and watch WOMAN OF THE YEAR, THE AFRICAN QUEEN, SUMMERTIME (especially), THE LION IN WINTER, and ON GOLDEN POND again.

I seem to watch the other Tracy-Hepburn pictures on DVD (like DESK SET, PAT AND MIKE, ADAM'S RIB) quite a bit, but WOMAN OF THE YEAR gets pushed to the back all the time, and I need to watch it again.

I don't know who owns the rights to STATE OF THE UNION, but someone ought to come out with that on DVD.

Seeing TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA got me thinking of FOLLIES.  I could have sworn the lyric in "Who's That Woman?" was "Hi there! Kiss me, Tarzan" instead of "Hi there, kiss me, Bye there." I also thought Yvonne de Carlo was singing "Pedicures, religion and pills" instead of "rest cures."  (What can I say?  I had a cheap hi-fi with tinny speakers.)
Again from Follies, but from "Broadway Baby," I heard it as "Plus a tube of greasepaint on a fallow spot."  Why I thought someone was trying to plow Ethyl Shutta's face, I have no idea.  (Actual lyric: "Plus a tube of greasepaint and a follow spot."

...there were two songs in the movie that aren't on the album.  "Down In the Depths (On the Ninetieth Floor)" by Madeline Kahn and "Tomorrow" by Duilio Del Prete.  They were right after the overture and BEFORE Cybill and Burt's introductory songs. ...I always wondered why they got the first solo songs in the movie and not Cybill and Burt, who were the "stars."
Better singers, perhaps?

I also watched THE PIRATE for the umpteenth time recorded off TCM early this morning. I never tire of watching this movie, and am anxiously awaiting Warners issuing a DVD of it. I believe I did read that it's going to be included in their next box of musicals along with THREE LITTLE WORDS, IT'S ALWAYS FAIR WEATHER, SUMMER STOCK, and ZIEGFELD FOLLIES.

I HOPE that's what I read. All of those are essential!  :)

Jrand: The Stages logo is by Nancy Lee and was indeed the LP cover, but the LP cover was gray and purple and I hated it.  I asked my designer to spruce it up and to put some spotlights in it and different color, and he did a great, great job.

And now for some photographs.

Chances Are
Small World
Namely You
His albums got rather bland in the mid 60's but those fifties/early 60's  tracks stand up so well.

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?

My two purchases were a very rare Evan Hunter book - his first - a sci-fi novel totally unrelated to the work he's known for (as both Evan Hunter and Ed McBain).  Best of all, Gavin Lambert's Inside Daisy Clover, a first edition in jacket.  I have been searching for thirty years for a copy of the jacket that does not have a faded spine, which is virtually impossible for this book.  My most recent copy, a really excellent jacket with just a tiny bit of the pink left on the spine was the closest.  Today, I found a great copy of the book, and, as usual the jacket spine had no pink left at all.  But, when I opened the book, the dealer had written "includes TWO dust jackets".  This happens from time to time, a book is accidentally packaged with two dust jackets.  I removed the first spine-faded jacket to find a completely unfaded spine on the second jacket - pink as can be.  I may have the only copy of the book with an unfaded spine.  The only reason it hadn't faded was because it was kept under the first jacket and never saw sunlight.  I got really good deals on both books.

Sondheim flops:  Well I once again quote my late Uncle, who invested in many a Sondheim show:  "You can always count on Steve for a nice tax write-off."

Johnny Mathis:  Johnny did a few sessions with Sergio Mendes, with whom he did not get along (a fate shared by Sarah Vaughan, evidently, when she worked with Sergio).  Some nice stuff, available on his boxed set (I don't think the singles were ever officially released).

Which brings me to favorite album cover:  Sergio's Fool on the Hill, which was quite the scandal back in 1968 (several major retailers such as Sears insisted a red sticker be strategically placed before they would sell the album).  Of course if you open the gatefold you realize that poor woman is anatomically a disaster.  ;)

And may I just say that with names like Janice Verity and Freddy Fate I fear we have wandered into a British film from the late 30s, redolent of fluff strands.

I'll be starting with chicken thighs, chopped up, and adding some carrots and rice.  I'm thinking of adding some ginger, for flavor, along with some cilantro, ditto, and some water chestnuts for texture.

Of course, I could make it even more interesting with some shrimp.  But something tells me he wants comfort food more than anything else, so the shrimp will be staying in the freezer for the time being.

Johnny Mathis did a duet with Jane Olivor and Jane Olivor had a duet with Gene Pitney. Gene Pitney had duets with George Jones who no doubt had a duet with Willie Nelson who had a duet with everyone including Ray Charles which could lead us even further... k d lang, Roy Orbison ,Emmy Lou Harris to Linda Ronstadt to James Ingram .....

DR MattH, I would have killed for that NFL football ticket.  I have only been to one NFL game live.  But I totally loved it.  I do not watch games every week.  But if i have a team to cheer for, I enjoy the sport a lot.

Oh I meant to comment on this week's next to last episode of Veronica Mars (i won't get to watch the finale till next weekend so don't spoil it).

But I really enjoyed this show.  And I got to watch it on UPN (since my sis taped it), so i also got to see the preview for next season.

One thing I was wondering about, was why Veronica was so freaked when she found the cameras.  Does she think Logan was going to tape them?  I really don't understand why she didn't confront him.  Or maybe that would have told us why she was mad. Or maybe it's supposed to be obvious.

In case it hasn't been answered. . .
Those two songs were added to the ABC television premiere of AT LONG LAST LOVE, and are in every cable version since run.
I find it fascinating to introduce the second romantic leads first.
IIRC, "I Love Him," though it appears on the soundtrack, was also cut from initial runs but re-instated for television. . .I could be wrong.

DR Cillaliz, RE: the big brother live feeds.

I am so happy that April has finally seen the light. I think this is one reason why the Friendship are hated, because they are hypocrites.  I am glad that April realizes that she has said some horrible things in the Diary room.   And that Janelle has never done that.  I think I am starting to like Yapril a bit more.

I despise Maggie the most. I really want to hurt her.  While she has listened to april, and is worried about how she is being portrayed, I think she needs to realize 1) how she's manipulated Iv/Ap, and 2) how much garbage has come out of her mouth.

I am sickened by how Maggie has threatened the other women. She basically said that if they take Janelle to F2, then they lose all the Friendship votes. So basically Ivette would have no choice but to take MAggie. To me, if Ivette wins HOH then she should be allowed to do what is best for her to win. Not what is best for maggie.

I think BB wants an Ivette/Janelle final. My only hope is that either America gets to vote somehow, or that April votes for Janelle.

When I hd a quick look at album art before, I remembered "Blood Sweat & Tears". It was one of those albums that really hit me for six when I bought it. I think I had only heard "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and "Spinning Wheel". "And When I Die" was a sensation.  I quite like the cover of the album that preceded it. Interesting. You are right about Maggie, though, any time anyone tries to think for themselves she has always said "That is not even an option" and threatens them.  Now she keeps saying she doesn't want to watch the DVDs of the show (which I assume they are given as soon as the show is over).  I'm sure it's because she knows what she has done and said.

Hi Everyone, had a lovely day in Brooklyn with Rodzinski.  It started off a bit rough, we had heard that Coney Island had "cleaned up" and since we hadn't been in years, we thought we would make a trip down for some fun and to check out the aquarium.

Well the subway station has been redone and is great, but that's about it.  And try as we might to sample exciting fried food, it all tasted blech.  But then I got a truly satisfying rootbeer float and we made our way to the aquarium and all was well.

The walruses were swimming all the way up to the glass and bumping their enormous stomachs up against it.  It was very cool and as Rodzinski said, totally worth the cost of admission just to see them.

We only had an hour before closing but managed to see all of the exhibits.  The beluga whales pulled a no show, but we saw many different varieties of seahorses.  I learned that they are not good pets for folks to keep in aquariums because due to the fact that they have no stomachs, they have to eat live food constantly.  It just passes right through them, basically through a tube. Hmm..

Then we ventured into Park Slope in Brooklyn, Rodzinski's old neighborhood for some mexican food and italian ices before heading home.  And now, I must read several chapters in preparation for school on Tuesday!

Good Evening!

Whew!  Back from auditions.  It was a weird day for a couple of reasons.

First of all, we only had about 150 people registered.  We normally have about 200 to 225.  So, after crunching the numbers, we decided just to go straight the morning and finish "early" instead of taking a lunch break.  -Which was OK.  So, we ended up finishing up around 1:30.

Secondly, we usually figure on about a five percent no-show ratio.  Well, out of the 150 people we had registered, we had almost 50 no shows.  That was LOT of no shows.  After checking in with some people, we realized that a bunch of people stayed home - or wherever they are - since they drive in.  And with the cost of gas right now...  It was easier to sacrifice a $25 registration fee for the prospect of spending about $70-100 on gasoline for a round-trip trip.

And, yes, unfortunately, there were some called-in cancellations from people who were directly affected by Hurricane Katrina.  -Put it all in perspective.

But, all in all, a good day.

However...

The theatre was FREEZING!  The A/C was turned up high - or low if you prefer to look at it that way.  I started getting the sniffles as the day went on.  And to top it all off, the blowers happened to be positioned right above the piano, so I had this  "breeze" blowing on my hands the whole time.  I had to sit on my hands between people to keep them warm.  Even the auditionees were complaining it was so cold - I even wore my fleece later on and I was still cold.  We've asked to have the A/C turned off tomorrow morning before things get going.  We have a shorter day tomorrow, so it should not get heat up too much - if at all - by the time we are done.

*It was so cold, that after one group finished, I asked if I could replay one of the auditions for a young gentleman.  My hands were just so cold at the time, that I couldn't play his piece properly.  -That's how cold it was!  -And the second time through went a lot better.

I have the second book in that series of misheard lyrics, or "mondegreens".  -Which I believe is derived from one of the earliest misheard lyrics, a Renaissance song.  The original lyric was something along the line of "laid him on the green", but was heard as "laid him mondegreen".

So yesterday was our NYC day.  We decided to take the train in and ended up in Penn Station around 1PM.  What an absolutely lovely day.  We decided to  wander up to 49th & 5th to  The American Girl Place but were somewhat delayed getting there becasue of a parade on 5th Avenue.  We are not sure exactly what the parade was for but Garbage Trucks   Sanitation Vehicles were traveling down the road as well as various pieces of large yellow machinery all with pretty young ladies draped on them waving to the crowds.

We ended up having only about 20 minutes at AGP but they were debuting a new doll, a character in the upcoming Felicity TV movie, screenwritten by former DR Panni.  They had all sorts of events for the day including having the actress playing Felicity there in the store. signing autographs and having her picture taken with happy little girl.  We didn;t have time to wait so the Vixter just waved at the young actress  and we headed out to the Majestic Theatre

I have a lot of LPs and someday I need to take digital pix of some of my covers, as I have been known to buy albums that have bizarre covers or gorgeous covers.

The AUDIO FIDELITY label is outstanding for covers.

Before I met TPunk, I was quite in love with this woman on the cover of Wayne King's "Isle of Gold Dreams" LP.

We hada wonderful time at POTO although vxdad and I spent nearly as much time watching the Vixter as we did the stage.  If the theatres knew what a great audience she is they woukld put her front  and center at every show!  A couple of times I had to put my hands her her shoulders as the tension was getting so great a could see she was about to jump from her seat in excitement (which I suspect the gentleman behind her would have, quite rightly, had some objections to)

When it was over she said  "That was WAY better than Little Women!!! When can we see it again?"

Then she insisted we wait by the stage door so that she could meet Hugh Panaro (The Phantom).  We waited nearly an hour and he never did  come out  gut she did get to meet  Rebecca Pitcher who palyed Christine Daae at this performance and Richard Warren Pugh who joked that he  would just sign Jeff Keller as he was to be covering that role in the evening performance.

I don't care that the tunes are repeated over and over if you want a musical spectacular The Phantom still delivers!

While at Coney Island, we were indeed having a devil of a time finding passable food to eat. I can usually eat any manner of deep fried stuff, but I ordered some chicken and ended up dumping it because it had a distinct freezer flavor to it.

THEN, I see a decent-looking pizza at one of these joints, right out of the oven and I order a slice, so the guy takes an old slice off a pile of old slices and puts it in a toaster oven then hands this dried up pizza husk to me. "Why can't I have a slice of that good-looking pizza?" I ask. "That's our display pizza," he replies!!!

Pizza bait and switch! I demanded a slice of the display pizza.

The moral: Reports of Coney Island's rebirth are greatly exaggerated. The beach is okay, but bring your own food.

I was a bit disappointed in ROME tonight. It was a less than 40 minute episode once you subtract last week's highlights and the credits, and there was only a slight amount of story divided into bothersome little snippets so that one would forget who people were because you'd only spend seconds with them before we'd have a cut to another scene.

I didn't read anything about last week's (the second episode's) ratings, so I'm gathering the viewer totals declined. It wouldn't surprise me that people are losing patience when they're given so little to chew on and digest each week.

Vixmom, that is so cool that Vixter had so much fun at the show!

I have to say one of the things I love so much about her is her capacity for enjoyment.  So many kids these days are so blase about everything... she is willing to entirely throw herself into totally into the experience.  And she thinks about it  afterwards

This afternoon  she asked me whY I thought Christine wasn't  in the opening scene, had she died? had she never married Raul?  had she run off with the Phantom?

Oh I love that child!!

Not so fast to Dreamland, must reply!

MBarnum, there is a neat collection that features some of Scott's collaborations with Jim Henson back in the early 60s.

Don't I know it, Tomovoz! Certain acts have had their careers really reduced by CD, but Homer and Jethro are so much more than just the parodies. And much of their music was marvelously produced by Chet Atkins. They are at the top of my wish list, currently. Next trip to San Jose, I am buying this one guy out of H&J Lps.

A Cd of the songs of Marjorie Chandler aka Dorothy Collins aka Mrs Raymond Scott is long overdue. My 45's of Baciare Baciare and Banjo Boy are as far from good condition as I am.

"So round. So firm. So fully packed!"  And I thought she was talking about the Lucky Strikes!  ;D

DR Sandra just read me a section of her book:
"'Oh, my angel-girl! my angel-girl! your patient heroism puts me to the blush, for my heart is crushed in my bosom and my firmness quite gone!' said Traverse, in a broken voice."

She is laughing rather hysterically.

Aha, that Dorothy Collins! I should have known! Well, they make a lovely couple.

Yes, I found several Raymond Scott CDs that I will be buying.

I image once you get going JRand55, there will be a shopping frenzy like never before! LOL!

Just watched the final scenes of "Oh What a Lovely War". I am always moved by those images.

I am so zoned I just hope I can get through writing the notes with a semblance of coherence or, at the very least, a coherence of semblance.
