Well, you've read the notes, you are aware that the notes were cut and dried, and now it is time for you to post until the cut and dried cows come home, so to it, baby, to it.

Any berry flavoured ice creams.  Least favourite is coffee. (I've not been game to try licorice).

Oreo cookie (or "cookies and cream") ice cream is one of my favorites.  Schwann's (a home delivery food company) has a chocolate fudge brownie ice cream that's to die for!  My sister loves peach ice cream (I certainly do like it, but it's not a favorite).  Banana shakes (with real bananas and real ice cream) is my favorite ice cream shake.  A place in Tumwater (a couple of blocks where I live) makes shakes and I always get a chocolate/peanut butter shake.  The best! ;D

I've had coconut ice cream...it was very, very, very (that's three verys) good.  I don't remember the brand, though.  My sister got it at a grocery store, but it wasn't Ben & Jerry's or Breyer's.

My friend Margo just spent a week in Hawaii, last month.  She had used all of her vacation time and had to use "leave without pay," but she said that it was totally worth it  She took all three of her kids and met some friends there.  I don't remember which island that they were on, but I'm pretty sure that wherever they were, they stayed there.  They didn't island-hop.

Sounds sort of like Media Play which opened two BIG stores in Indy about ten years ago.....and closed up after about two years!  They had cds, magazines, books, and DVD's.   GONE GONE GONE.

Back when I weighed over 230 pounds and didn't care, my favorite ice cream was Breyer's Butter Pecan!  Now I don't eat ice cream.

I do like my freeze pops.  And yes Drumsticks are also very good.  Haven't had one in a long time.  They are also sometimes called Nutty Buddies.

I also like Butterscotch - hmmmm.....ice cream squares with vanilla ice cream and a butterscotch shell.  Can't remember the name.  But now I want one.

No trivia contest....means no headache this weekend!  LOL. :)

I am very happy to have a completely FREE weekend with nothing to do....and so that is what I am going to do:  NOTHING.  Not as exciting as doing nothing in NYC or Hawaii or LA....but fun.

Watched the PBS documentary about ABBA tonight.  Very nice.  They also showed a bit of the London opening of MAMMA MIA!

I'm up!  I'm up!  Well folks, today ends my NYC adventure.  I've had a wonderful, wonderful time thanks to all of the DR's both local and the ones who came in for the gathering.

We WILL have to do this again!

I'm trying to watch the weather--the first time I've turned the TV on in this hotel room in the whole week!  Looks like I might have a rough trip back home.  Lots of rain!

I may not post again until I get to the airport (if I can) as I have to give the room up by noon.  I'm going to finish packing and be off to Breakfast!

I may not post when I get home as it will be very late at night but I will try.

Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart.

Good morning, all!  I meet DRDanise in another hour or so for breakfast and then head down to the recording office for some work.  It's a warm and very humid day, since it's raining, and I'm feeling like an extra in a revival of RAIN.

I am amazed at the number of posts yesterday.

DR td, I'd love to hear more of your colorful encounters with naked cowboys but DRCillaliz is my first acquaintance to actually encounter Times Square's one and only Naked Cowboy.

I have to call DRJose and see if I can drag him out of bed.  I hope he's back at his apartment by now.

The word of the day is Spore?  May i assume this is in honor of my trip today to see the wonderful Heather Spore in UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG?  (That would be a little self-absorbed on my part, but it's a nice coincidence.)

In honor of the word of the day, as well as the rainy weather in NY, here's a link to some pictures of Heather Spore (who was the luminous Miss July and many other roles in LAST STARFIGHTER), as well as Dearest Friend Maureen Silliman [plus this Guy Max Von Essen, whom I've never met, but whose perfromances I've always enjoyed] in the Two River production of UMBRELLAS:

DRFJL, thanks for the photos.  I've known Max since 1999, and he has a wonderful voice.  My last encounter with him in London was a bit bizarre, however, and I will be charitable and blame it on the events of 9/11 and Maestro McGlinn.

TOD: Ben&Jerry's Karamel Sutra. I forgot to buy some for my birthday last month. Oh well, next year.

Today, while the cat is away, the mouse will play. The controlling person who tells me I can't put anything in my office yet hauls boxes of stuff in my office himself, is out of town. I shall paint while he's not here to tell me I can't.

Larry and Danise, enjoy your breakfast. I'm not at work today since we have Columbus day off. They decided we didn't need to work today also.

I have to go shopping for a present for a dear friend's 50th birthday; The party is this evening. I'm meeting another friend at noon to go DVD shopping. Our friend's wife said that George has decided that he wants to collect the DVD of each Academy Award winning Best Picture. He (George) has none of them, so David and I will begin his collection with 1955, 1965, 1975 and 1985 (Marty, Sound of Music, Cuckoo's Nest and Out of Africa).

It's a dreary, rainy day and is predicted to be dreary and rainy for the rest of the week, not just the weekend. Spoo!

I have not yet caught up with BEYOND THE SEA, but I want to as I love Bobby Darin and will be interested to see for myself what Mr. Spacey has wrought. I have read so many conflicting opinions on the movie, so I'm anxious to see it for myself.

I suspect it will be on one of the pay-movie channels, however, rather than on DVD.

DR JRand55 is correct, I did pay to see, and mostly enjoyed BEYOND THE SEA. Kevin Spacey is a wonderful singer and I do need to pick up that CD.

The only thing about the movie that I did not care for was the foul language...there was just no need for it.

This is one of the best family shows in a long time.

PS: While searching for Buster Bar info online, I found a site called complaints.com where one can go and lodge a complaint about anything. Other folks can then do a search and see if people have had the same complaints as them. Or businesses can do a search and read complaints about them. Interesting.

(Someone in Ohio in 2002 was lamenting the shrinking size of DQ buster bars)

Ah, but Larry, this is a family site. (cue Sister Sledge).

TOTD:
Barbara Cook's VANILLA ICE CREAM.   :P

I loathed and despised BEYOND THE SEA, I agree with MBarnum about the language, something I think writers who cannot write use as a crutch.  I could go on and on about how misguided and misdirected I thought Mr. Spacey and the whole film were, but, let's just say that immediately after the movie was over I watched a great musical film entitled LES DEMOISELLES DE ROCHEFORT.
On the other hand, listening to the cd of BEYOND THE SEA is one hundred times better than actually seeing the film.

Fact learned from the chapter I read today in THE MAN WHO INVENTED ROCK HUDSON:

Rock was turned down not once but twice by MGM's head of talent acquisition. She later regretted the decision after he became a huge superstar, but she said MGM was homophobic in casting potential stars and never even seriously considered him.

Good Morning!

Ah, yes, it is a rainy day here in NYC, but we were due for some rain - and in need of it too.  So, it was a perfect day for sleeping in...

My apologies to DR Danise and elmore for missing breakfast this morning.  I had to be up "early" to sign for another FedEx package - which actually came this morning - but then I sat back down on my bed, and the next thing I knew it was 11:30...  -And I still had my cell phone's ringer off from the movie last night, so I didn't hear Danise calling me...  But I did just speak with both of them... So..

DR Danise - I hope you have a wonderful afternoon in NYC before heading back home.  -And it wouldn't be a day in NYC withouth some rain.  And Safe travels.

Rainy and foggy in the NW, too.  Perfect day for listening to Celtic music, so I began with Alan Stivell and am now listening to some celtic harpist whose name I can't recall.   :(

I am a cut-and-dried chocolate fan.  I really like chocolate ice cream with nuts, preferably almonds, though walnuts will do in a pinch.

Topic of the Day - Anything Chocolate.  And I'm also a big fan of mix-ins: almonds, marshmallows, fudge swirl, chocolate chips, espresso beans, etc.  The chunkier, the better.

However, there are those times when just plain ole vanilla will do, preferably Breyer's.

And then there's gelato - especially hazelnut, strawberry, amaretto and coconut.

Drumsticks, Klondike Bars (chocolate-chocolate, almond crunch), Chocolate Eclairs, Strawberry Eclairs, Fudgesicles, Dreamsicles, etc., etc., etc...

Tomovoz:  Glad you like Stillness.  It's a very atypical album for Sergio, a lot of people hate it with a passion, but I've loved it for close to 25 years (oy).  I made a mistake in my letter--it was "For What It's Worth" that was the hit off the album (though "Chelsea Morning" did get quite a bit of AC airplay).  If you ever get a chance to pick up the 45 version of "For What It's Worth," get it--it's radically different than the album version, something quite unusual for those days.  Lani had done some comping tracks, but the 45 version is pretty much all Karen all the time with a much different instrumental mix.

PennyO:  I've been E&T lately--are you performing in Hawaii?  Are you on the big island?  I can send out invites to people if you're there to come see your show.

Ah, yes, S'pores!  That ol' capmfire treat, pade frop pelted parshpallows, graphap crackers, and pilk chocolate.  (As der B just noted, a dish that's been around for at least a hundred years; as in the Dicken's quote, "Please, sir, may I have some spore?")

My friend Margo just spent a week in Hawaii, last month.  She had used all of her vacation time and had to use "leave without pay," but she said that it was totally worth it  She took all three of her kids and met some friends there. ...
It used to be that women, when they took all the kids and were vacationing for an extended period, headed towards Las Vegas.

Hmmph.  I've heard that kind of excuse before.  Back when I was at that insurance company I retired from, the continual line I got from Human Resources was that the company couldn't extend partner benefits to significant others was because it would discriminate against the married couples.  Bull-loney!  The real reason was that the head of HR was a homophobe herself!  Homophobic HRs always use their companies to excuse their own failures.  (The company later extended the benefits, with no problems.)

I have just caught up with yesterday and today.

Thank you MBarnum for the kind words.  I am very grateful to how the group took the Vixter under their wings  She  kept floating from one to another.  Chatting about dogs with SWW and Der B,  Vegan dietary  habits with Jane, the zoo visit with Danise etc etc.

Thank you all for making her (and me) feel so welcome.

and yes, there was a moment when Jose said," Oh lets stop in here , it's an adult toy store." and I rapidly headed  down the sidewalk to qucickly find something else for her to look at before it was understood that it was a place with collectible toys rather than , well than the kind of things that may or may not be stockef in Condomania (which we did wander on past at the head of the line and let the stragglers go where they may!)

I took the Vixter and her friend to see a local prodcution of Jane Eyre.

The live orchestraleft sonething to be desired and there were a few microphone issues in the first act, the costuming and bad bad wigs was really qquite awful

BUT!!!!

The voices!  The actor who played Rochester and the actress who played Jane were absolutely superb, as were the children who played young Jane, Helen, and Adele.

The ones who played Robert the butler and the housekeeper (who's name has momentarilly escaped me) were also very very good, especially the housekeeper who had a wonderful comic touch

Both the girls loved it, but the Vixter especially was on the edge of her seat as Enmily had seen the movie and is actually currently reading the book, whereas Victoria was completely unfamiliar with the material.

She cried, she laughed, she cheered.

I'm tellinm g you peopel if you are puting on a show, get the Vixter sitting amongst your critics  her reactions to a show will have them all writing raves!!

Went to the wax museum--it was very fun.  I got to sing for the Amerian Idol part of the tour.  I did "Crazy".  Simon said I did the song proud and I even had a couple of people come up to after to ask if I was here to try out for  a Broadway show!

Well, you only get a moment on these computers so I have to go.

Great photos!  Carnegie Hall!

Last night I watched a 1972 movie I had never seen.  It was called Wrath of God - Robert Mitchum, Rita Hayworth, Frank Langella, Victor Buono - directed by Ralph Nelson.  It may have been mentioned here before.

I started watching after it had been on for about an hour or so, so I am not sure how it all started, but it was VERY good.  I seem to remember it when it was on at the drive-in and wondering why ANYBODY would want to pay to see a movie with Mitchum and Hayworth in 1972.

Not available on VHS, too bad.  Has any other DR seen this movie?  What happens at the beginning....why is Robert Mitchum pretending to be a priest.

There is a Scottish or English actor in it also named Ken Hutchison who is VERY good, but he seems to have worked mostly in England, maybe DR CP knows him.

I recommend THE WRATH OF GOD - made in Mexico, Rita's last film, and a lot of fun.  The print seemed to be fairly pristine with rich dark colors and no splices, jumps, or  flecks.

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from the Apple Store in SoHo - otherwise known as the unofficial logging in place for Hainsies and Kimlets while staying in New York City.

It is indeed a not too nice day weather-wise, but I have a good umbrella, and I managed to be inside during the past two major downpours.

I just treated myself to a nice chocolate break at Marie-Belle around the corner.  I order a cup of their amazingly rich Aztec Hot Cocoa as well as a plate of their signature cookies - and I have to say my server was quite generous with the cookies.  -There were 10 on the plate - usually there are only 6.  I actually ended up with one of everything today.  :)

Before hitting the Cocao Bar in Marie-Belle, I spent a good amount of time in the Sale Tent at Broadway Panhandler.  WOW!  Now that's what I call a sale!  There were some clearance items - discontinued stock, old models, etc., but most of the sale items were overstocks.  And on one side of the tent there were boxes and boxes of Le Creuset, and on the other side there were boxes of All-Clad - along with representatives from each company.  Thankfully, I was not in need of any new cookware.  Instead, I stocked up on a bunch of little items.  I even got a nice mandoline slicer - one of the nice OXO ones.

And since most of what I bought was at least 40-50% off, I managed to "double" the gift certificate I was given the other day!

Once again, Thank You to those DRs who joined me on my trek across Manhattan the other day.  *I shall take a pic of all my loot once I'm back at the apartment.

**And I have a feeling I may head back to the sale tent again sometime in the next two days.  There really are some incredible deals to be had there.  Fellow New Yorkers, you've been "warned".  -The sale ends Monday.

Well, hold your hats and hallelujah, we have achieved our incredulous new plateau!  Congratulations to one and all and also all and one.  And for the errant and truant who missed the turning of the number - you simply won't be able to tell your grandchildren that you were here during the great event.

Gee, to think I was in the airport, posting away on my lap top.  Wow!

Well I did my part, BK.  Do you have any idea how many people I told about the site this weekend?

Even this afternoon when I stopped off to get out of the rain and have a nice hot cup of soup (which was wonderful by the way), I started talking to the lady next to me and I told her all about it.

I'm sorry but I still don't see what the big deal is about an IPod vs a Pocket PC.  Matter of opinion I guess but I wouldn't waste my money on a IPod that only plays music when my Pocket PC does so much more.

You have no idea how much I used it this week to jot notes/directions down and I loaded my "Once Around The Sun" soundtrack onto it.  I can't stop listening to it!

I am also starving, but shall not eat until Mr. Nick Redman and company arrive.

I saw a reading of the second act of a musical about Ginger Rogers.  It was the most dreadful thing I've ever seen.  Someone who does copyist work for me here in LA wrote the music.  The book consists of Ginger and her mother reciting facts about her life.  To say that this is dramatically inert would be an understatement of the highest order.

Ohh...

And the iPod was not to be.  I was actually thinking of getting the 4G Nano, but they were out of them.  They only had the 2G in White in stock.  I guess it was not que sera.

*However, I'm sensing that I will most likely splurge on one at Christmas as a gift to myself.  And by that time, the next generation of iPods is supposed to be released too.

**And it didn't hit me until today, that the iPod Nano replaced the iPod mini.  So, no more choice of colors - unless you get the sleeves.  Ah, well...

***I also sense that once I do buy one, it will most not likely get as much use as it "should".   I really do like listening to the radio during the day whether at home or in my car.

OH!!!

I popped into Best Buy in SoHo just to check it out - I had never been there before.  Well...

*Warning to DR Ron Pulliam - You may not want to read the rest of this post.

As I was walking in, they were putting out a display of the new Cinderella DVD boxed set - the two-disc edition with the small book, and the artwork.  They were marked down to only $16.99.  $16.99?!?!?  I asked the guy who was setting up the display if that was truly the real price - since it was cheaper than the standard edition.  Well, it turned out that someone in their stock room got a little carried away with the box cutter, and managed to slice into some of the boxes a little too deep.  The DVDs are fine.  The DVD cases are fine.  But there is a gouge/slice on the slipcase - and, consequently, through the plastic overwrap.  So, since technically, they were now damaged goods, the manager marked them down for quick sale.

Well...  By the time I had finished talking with the salesperson, all the copies were snatched up - I think there were only about 20 copies anyway.  Except for the one still in my hand!  So... Since it was my niece's birthday last week...

:)

-Aren't I a good uncle?

Just finished watching Lifeboat.  Shortly I shall be on my way to sup with Mr. Nick Redman and company, then I shall return to watch a DVD that I'd wager most of you don't know is out - one of our beloved ABC Movie of the Weeks.  I bought that little ABC Movie of the Week book (less than 100 pages of actual text) and it's the disappointment of the year.  It's more about the fellow who wrote it (telling us what year he came out, how "hunky" all the male stars are, etc.) that about what it should be about.  What we need is a comprehensive book with complete credits, and what we get are chatty paragraphs that only occasionally mention a writer or director and almost never mention any other behind-the-scenes folks like a composer or cameraman.  It's filled with shoddy errors that any semi-competent FRIEND could have helped him catch (Jaime Smith Jackson indeed).  In one entry, he talks about director Jerry Paris and lists some of his sitcom directing credits - he doesn't mention Happy Days, which Mr. Paris directed every single episode of.

It's a self-published book through iUniverse - nothing wrong with that, as long as it's good - sad to say, it's probably ruined any chance of getting a decent reference book on this wonderful series of films.  Feh.

DING! DING! DING! You guessed it! I was actually "screaming" I WANT TO LIVE! as DR WilliamFOrr was snapping that shot.

Regarding all the pictures: Is it fat in here or is it just me? No. It's just me. All y'all look great, but I really need to hit the gym instead of the Krispy Kremes. (He says as he eats a Galaxy bar...) Why didn't anyone tell me my hair was such a mess? Or that my forehead took up the entire upper west side? I thought photo approval was part of my contract. Someone call my agent! :)

DR MBarnum: Shakalaka, Baby!! I love the new outfit. And Freddy is ADORABLE!

I'm finally home from a long trip to PA to see HONK! JR. It's a cute show - I'd rather have seen the full-length version, especially with the direction of this version being so bad - but it is a sweet show and I wish more people would do it. If you're unhappy with any of your pictures, Jason, it just serves you right for not having briefed me on the "suck in your chins" trick.   :)

Well, HHW is certain to be the most popular site with the ladies of UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG, especially after I told them today's word of the day on HHW was in honor of the stunning UMBRELLAS leading lady Heather Spore.  (OK, I know that's probably not why the word was picked, but still - anything to enhance the popularity of HHW.)   Over dinner, we talked about how the 1980's clothing in STARFIGHTER made the teenagers look like they had excess poundage (Heather called it "wigglage") until we couldn't talk about it any more, and then on the ride home by train Milla, Julie and I talked about wigglage some more.  The wigglage talk was over a delicious low-calorie :) Italian dinner with the three leading ladies of CHERBOURG, who were careful what they ate because they had an evening show to do after dinner.

And I came very close to meeting Max Von Essen, but dear-fiend (sp?) Milla monopolized him and then he was tied up with his fans who had come from NYC (very popular Guy, this Max Von Essen, seriously), plus it was raining out by the stage door. so I never did get to tell Max about HHW.

Actually I'd prefer an annotated list of the tour, rather than the dog show!

I have a question for all you experts out there: How many years did the Mickey Mouse Club Show run?

Oh...

My parents called me while I was out this afternoon...  They wondered when I was coming home.  -Apparently, the DC TV stations have been giving a lot of airtime to the possible terrorist threat here in New York City this weekend.

I told them that I'm not really worried, and that I do feel safe.  -And I really do.

*Heck, most of the time I work in DC...  -And Ford's is just a few blocks from the White House, and a block away from FBI headquarters.  Seeing all the "presence" down there most definitely made me shakey at times.

But I appreciated their concern.  And their love.  And I will see them next weekend.

I love Haagen-Dazs RICH MILK ice cream. And it’s going to be the best ice cream of the world when I put some CC Brown’s Hot Fudge Sauce, which I’ve got at Farmer’s Market, on it! (dear BK told me how to put it on ice cream.) It’s an incredible delicious sauce.

ORIGINAL one and only Mickey Mouse Club ran from 1955-1959, it was then syndicated in many markets.

In fact this week was the 50th anniversary of its original premiere.  ;D

DR LAURA - you are welcome.  Once the original series was syndicated for individual stations, I think they were edited into thirty minute segments.

Hmmm...  There is currently a slow drip, drip, drip in the downstairs bathroom  - "my"bathroom - here in the apartment.  And it seems to come and go according to the rain fall outside, so... Hmm... The landlady has been called.  In the meantime, we've placed a bucket on the floor and we've checked elsewhere in the apartment for any leaks and damp areas in the wall - and we've found nothing else.  So...  We shall see...

...And I guess we should check with our upstairs neighbors since there are four floors above the bathroom.  We were thinking it could have been from the pipe that runs to and from the washing machine, but since the flow of the drip does not seem to correspond to when the washer is running...  Again, we shall see...

Just a very quick post to let you all know that contrary to popular belief, the back of the plane did NOT fall off and I am not lost (a Lost reference) on some island someplace.

There was a Bear but not one of the polar type.  More of the I’m so happy to see you but I’m so mad at you that I’m going to wag my tail and put my face in Mom lap not yours but don’t you dare think of going anywhere again type of Bear.   ;D

I am, in fact, safe and sound in the home environment.

Good night, Ladys and Gems.  I will talk with you Dear people sometime tomorrow.  Afternoon.  Possibly evening.  Well, maybe Monday morning.  Errr, let's just make that sometime on Monday and call it square, Ok? :)

Nighters!

LOL Jason, I would guess that none of us are pleased with our photographic image! My face always looks twisted, somehow, I don't know what the deal is.

Thanks for the lovely comments about Freddy...he is a fine feline and he sends his love to Walty and Kilbot...two other fine felines who I just realized I never got a photo of!!! Doggone it!

And despite what Jason may think of himself, he is a very cute guy with one killer smile!

Jose also has a killer smile...and a dirty mind...but that is another story.

Well our evening out was not all it was cracked up to be. After settling in to our seats up in the second balcony (!) the lights came down and the man walked onto the stage to announce that Bea Arthur was very ill and unable to perform tonight  :-\

In her 25 years of performing this show she has only missed one show...and now this is the second...I hope it is nothing really serious, however.

We were very disappointed (as were the other people in the theater...and it was packed) but decided to just head to dinner three blocks south at J. James, Salem's swankiest and fanciest restaurant. We arrived to find that the place was short staffed and they were turning people away as there was no one to serve them. Again we were disappointed, but not as disappointed as some of the others who were there and yelling at the poor girl who worked there.

So we treked back to the downtown core and at at McGraths. I had the Mango Tilapia.

James, Mark and Linda (Jame's mom) are now heading back to Wilsonville and she flies back to Nevada tomorrow.

One very good thing about this evening was getting to meet James' mom. She is great, and is a big movie fan...she has even seen ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE...and ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN! She loves, loves, loves the old horror and sci-fi which she used to watch every Saturday at the movies when she was a kid! She said AOPP scared the bejesus out of her!

She picked out several DVDs from my collection that I am going to copy for her!

I'm still up. Why am I still up, you ask? I don't know is the only reply I can give. I'm currently watching "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," which has nearly ended, so bed (appropriately) won't be too far off.

Thank you, Shakalaka Barnum, for your kind sentiments. I suppose none of us would choose to sit and look at photos of ourselves. Still - that's one heck of a forehead that I've got! And I can tell I've slacked off on the situps.

Jose, when are we starting that food diary?

As it has been announced that tomorrow may be the day of the subway attacks, I have decided that I'm not going to risk anything as it is a day off and I have no reason for going into the City, thereby meaning I have no reason to board a train. I do have that dinner on the Upper West Side at 6:30, though... Hmmm...I'll keep you guys posted on whether or not I'll be able to attend. I do hope you all will understand if I don't make it up there. I'm low on cash and that's a heck of a train ride from Queens. But I may still show up - I haven't decided yet.

Copying DVDs, did you say? Gosh, I wish I had that ability, even if only to make back-up copies of the stuff I've already got. People borrow things and never return them...you know the sort. And it'd be nice to build my collection, too. Not that I would EVER consider doing that. ;)

Priscilla - I saw something on TV tonight about a murder case in Iowa. I kept looking to see if you'd be in the courthouse scenes. Then I realized there is probably more than one courthouse in the state of Iowa so I stopped looking. :) It was covering the Proleen or Preleen or something "-leen" murder case. The husband was the primary suspect and, even though 10 of the 12 jury members thought he most likely did it, they voted not guilty due to a lack of concrete evidence. Very interesting stuff...

Hmmm don't know that one.  I've really only done one murder trial. My client was 16 at the time. A group of kids kidnapped, beat and then shot another kid who was a big drug dealer.  I got a lesser included on the murder, but he still got life on the kidnapping. It was pretty gory, but it was fascinating to work on. I really don't think they intended to kill the kid, but apparently the jury disagreed with me and with the lawyers in the other cases that went to trial. No one walked.

There aren't too many murder cases in federal court, mostly guns, drugs, aliens and internet porn with a little counterfeiting, telemarketing fraud, and other assorted misdeeds thrown in. But thanks for thinking of me!

And yes, there are actually 99 county courthouses in Iowa and at least 5 ot 6 federal courthouses, so there's a really good chance I wasn't there!
