Title: THE NERD ON MY BACK

Well, you've read the notes, you know of my new hopefully temporary addiction, and now it is time for you to post until the Nerds, uh, sorry, cows come home.

I see two count them two dear readers who have literally been sitting there like so much fish for forty-five minutes, without a post between them.  I think it might just be time for a bitch-slapping of the highest magnitude.

Well, that's a first.  Pogue just called and said there was no way to post.  I went to the site and posted fine.  Then I used the "reply" box, and it said only admins could post because the topic was "locked".  Somehow, I must have been so tired last night that I inadvertantly locked both last night's and today's topic, but I don't see how.  I just don't see how I could have made that mistake - unless there was some weird glitch.

Well, we've got us some catching up to do, don't we?  Quick, we need a frenzy or five.  Quick, everyone make twenty posts each.  Quick, someone SHOOT ME!

Well, I just had to give BK a telephonic alert this AM.  Our poor tired fella inadvertantly locked us out last night after he wrote the notes. Hence no posts!  Let the barrage begin!

My favourite vacation spot, of course, is merry ole London which swings like a pendulum do!  Going to as much theatre as I can, visiting bookshops, and just walking the streets rich with history and taking it all in.

But if one needs relaxation, I recommend the San Ysidro Ranch up near Monteceito and Santa Barbara, a mere hour and half away from LA.  One gets oneself a lovely cabin and can never leave the ranch is that is what one desires.  The Stone House Restaurant there is one of the best I've ever eaten in.  If one wants a little more excitement that is still relaxing, Santa Barbara is about ten minutes away.  Great shops and more nice restaurants and, of course, the ocean.

Hey for those who watch LOST, apparently the show is supposed to go over tonight on ABC.  I'm guessing it will probably just be a few minutes, but for those recording WATCH OUT!

Although interestingly enough, LOST airs on a Canadian station at the same time.  And they usually show less commercials and end on time!  So sometimes I will watch the ending twice!

I read somewhere that it's supposed to be 64 minutes.  I watch "Invasion" right after it, so I'm safe. ;D

As for the Topic of the Day, I've never been to a resort, so I can't comment on that.  My favorite vacation spots (so far) have been New York City (midtown Manhattan...theater district) and London (theater district).  I've only gone to each of them once, but I loved them both and would go back in a second!

TOD: The closest I have come to  luxururious resort is our  time share:  Orange Lake Resort in Kississemee FL.  We bought it right after we were married and we like it very much but I do not know if it qualifies under what bk considers the lap of luxury or whatever

It sure beats the Holiday Inn (the founder , Kemmon Wilson I think his name was,of which, who was actually was the creator of our resort)

I'm still fond of the Myrtle Beach area of South Carolina.  Charleston is only an hour and a half away, and that is one gorgeous city.  So, topically, I have to say that the beaches, cities and the incredible Brookgreen Gardens of the south eastern end of South Carolina would be tops for me.

Charleston is indeed lovely!  We spend a couple of weeks there several years in a row when some friends of ours rented a house on the Isle of Palms and invited us and another couple to spend some time with them there.  Again, excellent restaurants and small, walkable city center of shops and elegant historic homes, all right there on the Ocean.  I want a toggle bench!

Congrats on the gig, TD - and on the health benefits. I'm considering switching over to the food industry, myself, to free up my days for auditions...

It's been announced that Ms. Effie White will, indeed, be played by a an American Idol contestant, but not the one everyone expected. Ms. Jennifer Hudson will be playing Effie in the film version of DREAMGIRLS as opposed to Fantasia. I couldn't be happier.

The beautiful Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami Beach is the most luxurious resort I ever stayed in.  Beautiful....loved to sit on my balcony and watch the ocean and see the sunset....

Great service, lovely rooms, and great people.  And so much to see in Florida!  NOT ONLY Disney World and Universal.  It is an historically interesting place to see....museums and parks, etc.

As everyone knows I love London. I also love Honfleur in Normandy. I mentioned both of these sites yesterday as possible home locations if money were no object.

The Grand Canyon is a great adventure, although I was not able to walk down the trail into the canyon. It's an amazing site to stand at the rim and take it all in. Even for someone with a fear of heights, it's gorgeous!

I will report on how I feel about Cardiff when I return in January. I booked the flight on Ryan Air from Dublin to Cardiff and got a great deal for two nights in a 4 star hotel in Cardiff. We will spend some time as tourists, we will meet Beverly and meet my cousin Ray from Sheffield. It's turning into quite a trip.

My favorite resort experience was the Polynesian Resort Hotel in Disney World.  Just an amazing place.  We were there during a light season, and actually got upgraded to a better room.  Plus the proximity to the Disney parks and Mickey's Polynesian Luau made for a great vacation.  I really didn't want to leave.

Second favorite resort was the Rio in Las Vegas.  Stunning room for just normal prices, since it's a little off the Vegas Strip.  And they had something called Masquerade in the Sky going right through the lobby area over the gaming tables, opulent floats and entertainment on tracks, which was magic as long as you pretended not to notice the pulleys.  Doesn't exactly SOUND relaxing but it put me ina wonderfully giddy frame of mind for the entire stay.  A great place to come back to after hours of seeing all Vegas had to offer.

Jason - If you've never been to a resort-type hotel, Vegas is full of great deals on hotels that give you the resort experience for as little as $50-60 a night if you time it right.    Bally's was $60 a night, Rio was $89 a night, both wonderfully lavish.  (June is a great time to find deals, for example, if you can go from Sunday through Thursday.)

I don't think of New Yawk City or London as being resorts.  They are cities that fascinate, true, but they are not geared specifically for the tourists.  They make their monies doing other things.

I, on the other hand, live in a resort community.  That's what Rehoboth Beach is, a resort community, dependent upon the annual influx of vacationers for it's income.  As a working resident, I look forward to the increase in jobs these vacationers provide...and also look forward to the end of the season, when we don't have to put up with their rudeness, their attitude that they own the world.

I'm just glad I'm on antidepressants.  It makes living here so much easier.

Because he has just become a member of the Zoo! I know because I'm a member too.

Jason thanks for the tip on Chita. I'm going to skip Hedwig and Hedda that night and see Chita. I'm going Thursday December 1 at 8pm. Since they are E-Tix I won't know where I'm sitting until I get there.

I always get mail from them asking me to join, but since I haven't been there in about 9 years it doesn't seem like a good use of my limited resources!

Ralph Edwards of This is Your Life has died. Here is a link to a short obit.

Ralph Edwards (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051116/ap_en_tv/obit_edwards;_ylt=Amlynsgq4Iwg6lzHS5GZoYtX24cA;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl)

I wonder if the news that Regis Philbin has just been signed to revive the show was the straw that broke the camels's back?

Regis Philbin to host 'This Is Your Life'

Associated Press
Nov. 11, 2005 10:46 AM

NEW YORK - Regis Philbin is returning to primetime.

The "Live with Regis and Kelly" host will helm the new version of "This Is Your Life" for ABC. The series is a new version of the 1950s and '60s NBC original created and hosted by Ralph Edwards that each week surprised a guest with an often-emotional recounting of his or her life.

"My network needs me! I'm there," Philbin said in a statement. "`This Is Your Life' was always one of my favorite shows."

"This Is Your Life" - which ABC calls "the original reality show" - varied its subjects from celebrities to prominent business figures to regular folks. The format for the Philbin-hosted version hasn't yet been announced, nor has an air date.

Congrats to DR td on the new employment!

Does NERDS candy come in a box or a bag.  If it comes in a box, I think I have seen it that way, can you get a bag of boxes?  Was the NERDS candy left over from Halloween?

We have a bag of boxes of Nerds left over from Halloween!

Vixmom, I agree about your use of resources and joining the zoo. You're far enough away from all of them (you get into the Bronx Zoo, the Central Park Zoo and the Children's Zoo in Central Park, the Zoo at Park Slope in Brooklyn, the Queens Zoo and the Brooklyn Aquarium) that it requires planning to go so the cost of a family membership could be used better elsewhere.

No, we are talking about the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It's being shown at Chelsea Cinemas on December 1st as part of their Chelsea Classics series.

I won't be seeing Mr. Potter this weekend. I have much to do. Vixmom, I just found out that one of my nieces has an American Girl doll. She's got Kit. So, on Saturday afternoon I'm heading uptown to American Girl Place to purchase some accessories for her doll. She wants the pajama set for Kit or the accessories for the sweater set (apparently this is a hat, purse hanky and necklace).

I am then going to the GLBT Expo at the Javits Center. During one of our early forays to Chelsea Classics they were handing out cards which give you free admission to the event. The cards they hand out now only give you $5 off the admission of $15. I'm using the Free Card!

Sunday is housework and finishing odds and ends before I head out to Long Island (Centereach) for Thanksgiving. I don't go until Wednesday afternoon but I won't have lots of time to do things during the shortened week.

So, let's put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let's break out the cheese slices and ham chunks, let's dance the Hora and the Wooly-Booly, and send a big haineshiswway.com birthday cheer to the wonderful Skip Kennon.

Well you have to go in the front door, turn left, then a quick right to the escalator take that up to the 3rd floor where the American Girl Collection is located. The Kit stuff should be directly on your left hand side.  :D

We'll (the Vixter & I ) will be in the city on Saturday,  first the 9 AM Christmas Spectacular with her Girl Scout Troop (BTW does anyone know if the musicians will be back by then?) then possibly some adventuring with the GS Troop before possibly going off on our own to try to meet with DR Michael Shayne for afternoon tea

and who knows... a trip to AGP might end up being a part of our exploring so look out for a small troop of Girl Scout Cadettes....(there's only 5 girls in her new troop) while you're there! :D

Saturday night, 8:30, you must have missed my post on the great day I had Monday.

Nope I knew you were planning to go with your beloved goddaughter!  The Vixter is raring to go, but after getting up at the crack of dawn for the Radio City thing on Saturday and tooling around NY all day I suspect that we wil not make a Saturday night showing  without one or the other of us falling asleep, and the Vixdad wants to see it with us, but he HATES opening weekends, and Sunday after church we have a birthday party we must attend for our friends' 2 year old son, and Sunday evening is the Vixter's church Youth Group, and Friday night is Vixdad's D&D night, plus the Vixter has a Santa Lucia rehearsal at church until 8 and then we need an early night ( I refer you back to the Radio City debacle).

I knew that MattH was anxious to see this (where has HE been today I wonder?  Did he give up when he saw he was locked out  earlier?)

But I wasn't sure how many of us would actually get there this weekend.

We will probably be going over Thanksgiving weekend so I beg of those of you who DO go and see HP this weekend to post SPOILER ALERTS  before any critiques etc etc.  :)

My favorite resort was Acapulco. Heavenly place to play and relax. We stayed in bungelos on the side of a mountain. The "hotel" was called Las Brises, and a guest was given pink (yep( jeeps to go up and down the mountain to your particular bungelo. Every two bungelos shared a swimming pool, too, if you didn't want to subject your skin to ocean water. This place really was heaven (and the gorgeous male bellboys who brought continental breakfasts up every morning I will NEVER forget.)

I spent much of the afternoon with the new OKLAHOMA! package.

I honestly think Fox packed the Cinemascope version of the movie on the first disc because they KNEW it was far superior to the other version IN THIS PACKAGE. The sound is strong and the color and sharpness are excellent. As DR td commented last night, when I want to see OKLAHOMA on DVD, this is the version I will play.

I don't think the Todd-AO version of OKLAHOMA on this release is merely soft. I think it is a total catastrophe of the highest order: out of focus, pale, it even FLICKERS, something that Todd-AO was famous for NOT doing in a movie theater.

I synched up the laserdisc of OKLAHOMA with this new version (didn't you just KNOW I'd do that!), and there is absolutely NO comparison. The laserdisc is a hundred times more colorful and sharper even though the laser is working with considerably fewer scan lines (and no anamorphic enhancement). This is THE DVD disaster of the year, and I have every intention of letting Fox know my EXTREME disappointment. They should hang their heads in shame to release such a calamitous transfer as the definitive disc for this movie.

I did listen to some of the commentaries on both discs. Nick Redman and Shirley Jones sounded like they were having much more fun on their commentary. Ted Chapin and Hugh Fordin I have the greatest respect for, but their commentary was pretty dry from the fifteen minutes or so of it that I listened to.

I was just so upset with the Todd-AO transfer (which has always been my preferred version of the film in terms of camerawork and performances), but perhaps I am not being fair to Chapin and Fordin.

I spent the last 45 minutes of the afternoon (before getting back on-line) with MY NAME IS EARL/THE OFFICE.

This is the bestg hour of comedy on television, and they couldn't be more different shows: one a redneck comedy with heart and the other a brittle social satire and character study.

This week, both shows had me laughing pretty much nonstop.

Matt H.  When I was eight years old my parents took us to Mexico during our two week Christmas break.   We spent Christmas at a resort in Acapulco.  I loved water skiing, hated the milk we had to drink and the fishing trip I insisted on going.  The plan had been to leave the kid that always got sea sick at the hotel with a sitter.  I protested loudly, went and got very sick.  Just as my parents finally decided I had ruined the trip & requested the boat be turned around, my father hooked a shark which he immediately lost  when the boat turned.  Recently my brother told me he was happy I was there to ruin the trip as he was also sick.   I'm happy to have saved a life. :)

In talking with friends about when we would find it best to see HARRY POTTER, we've pretty much decided Tuesday of next week in the afternoon. The kids should be in school still (Thanksgiving vacation starts on Wednesday) and the first show of the day should be relatively empty compared to what the crowds will be like over the weekend.

Another great resort trip with my parents was at the Hotel DelCoronado http://www.hoteldel.com  which is on an island off of San Diego.  Technically my parents stayed there while my siblings and I slept at a motel across the street.
We had a grand time exploring the hotel, swimming and playing tennis.  The trip was for a very special occasion.  Before my father was an MD he was a DO (doctor of osteopath).  We stayed at the hotel during a medical convention where my father became president of the California Osteopaths.

Back to OKLAHOMA for a moment, I also watched on the second disc the fairly short documentary on the making of the film in Todd-AO and Cinemascope, but the short wasn't nearly long enough nor informative enough to suit me. In the part of the commentary, Shirley Jones talked a little about how filming was done, but NONE of that was mentioned in this documentary.

Something else I found interesting. I watched the main titles for both versions, and I never saw the word Technicolor ever mentioned in the opening credits. I'm trying to remember now if it was worked somehow into the end. (I didn't make it to the end of either version this afternoon.) Can't believe they'd not mention this brand name of color since it was the most famous color motif out there even then. I had to look it up to find out that Technicolor was used for OKLAHOMA.

I almost made it to Cancun once; a friend who had come into a big wad of money was going to pay the way for three of us to go there. When one friend backed out (too proud to accept this wonderful gift), the friend changed his mind and none of us went.

I also wanted to go to St. Croix or St. Thomas, but I've never gotten there, either.

Reminiscent of the Del Coronado was the beautiful old hotel on Lake George in NY.    We had a great time there when the boys were young.  We played tennis, went boating, rafting and parasailing which I can’t believe I did.  More than my going I let my little Craig go.  Craig had wanted me to go first but the crew sent him ahead of me (very smart or I might have lost my nerve).  I was screaming and laughing so hard I began to hyper-ventilate.  The crew became concerned & was about to real me in. Thank goodness they said something to Keith first who said “she does that all the time” so they left me alone.

DR Ben, as The Vixter could tell you, Kit is my favorite American Girl because she lives in Cincinnati during the Great Depression.  If your niece would like a commemorative bookmark from Union Terminal, the train station that's referenced in some of the stories, just email your address and I'll mail you one!

When it rains it pours. . .
Now that the paper work has been filled out for one employer, I received a phone call about a half an hour ago offering me a position as an electronics sales(man) person - also with benefits. . .
Well, at least, the actual interview for the sales position, comes before the first day of actual work at the restaurant. . .
In other words, to be continued. . . .
Tune in tomorrow, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

Many, many thanks for all of the extremely positive vibes!

And on another note, when each time Dad and I (whether alone or with Mum and other relatives) were in New York City, he would bitch and moan about a hamburger costing $3.95!  I can just hear his voice bitching about a burger for $7.99!

Resorts?  Hmmmm.........

I suppose Capri and Sorrento count, so those are both terrific places to recommend.  I prefer Capri, all things considered, because the entire island is a resort and lush and gorgeous.  There are two centers -- Capri and Anacapri, the latter at a higher elevation on the island and loaded with hotels and fancy-schmancy shops.

Does Santa Fe count as a resort?  It's certainly low-key and fun.  Not like a vacation spot, per se, where people rush around madly trying to have fun.

I've been home all day.

Yesterday was very, very windy.  I, and some co-workers, went out to lunch.  Each way was about a 10-minute walk.  When we were eating, we were facing the open street.

I totally underestimated what all that wind would do to me.  I left work around 3 p.m. yesterday.  Last night, I managed to get the ill effects under control with some extra-strength medication.

While I was essentially "dried out" and breathing easily, a side effect was an unpleasant pressure behind my right eye -- and extreme light sensitivity.  I was whupped when it came time to get ready for work.  So I didn't.  I made my apologies via e-mail and stayed home.

I've been in bed most of the day and am, quite frankly, slept out (tired of being in bed!!!).

The breathing is still easy, however, and the evening loom with promises of excellent television entertainment that I will watch without having to record a thing.

The building next door has been the site of much activity as they've had their roof re-done.  The noise factor hasn't been an issue, but the smell of tar in the afternoon is not the most pleasant aroma to have wafting through one's bedroom window.

There have been those, in my past, who suggested that my tours of duty on aircraft carriers constituted "resort-like" living....being on a ship the size of a city, having shops to go to, exercise facilities, stunning views, etc.

Right!

Those ships did take me to some pretty wonderful ports, however, and one of my favorites was Singapore.  I've been there during monsoon season, at Christmas (and I was stunned by all the seasonal decorations and then learned that Singapore was predominantly Christian) and in their Spring.  While I never stayed at Raffles (but wanted to), I had a terrific time in this glorious city.

Yes, I have a past.  Some of it surprises even me when it pops up, unwanted and demanding to be recalled and reflected upon.

All learning experiences, I assure you.  I am the sum of many, many, many (well, not THAT many) parts.

It's often amazing to me that I was ever that young, that trusting, that willing to believe in so many things about so many people.

The strongest memories, of course, are the ones about the people I knew...some I still do, some I wish I still had in my life, and some I hope found great misery in life to counter the disappointment and misery they inflicted upon others.

Oh....my....

Does anyone else ever experience the phenomenon I do when I have a head cold:

You go through the entire day feeling like you've gotten through the worst of it, and then, after sunset, all the symptoms seem to overwhelm you?

I'm guessing it's a matter of either meds wearing off, or, perhaps, the body wearing down and tired of putting up a brave front.

Topic of the Day-

The Crowne in Melbourne which I mentioned in yesterday's posts.  It's basically a city within a city.  Indoor Olympic-sized swimming pool, posh restaurants, not-so-posh restaurants, full-service spa, and a casino that is open 24 hours!  And it's located right on the river, and the views of the city from any of the rooms are stunning.  And truly the best customer service I've ever received in a hotel-type establishment.

I've also spent some time down at Disneyworld, and The Grand Floridian truly is worth the splurge.  However, I don't even mind the "family-priced" resorts.  I always prefer to be "on campus" when I'm there.

And now I must buckle-down winsocki myself, and finish Finale-ing a transposition for the show.  I've actually been reading the song "down" the past couple of rehearsals, and it's been pretty easy, surprisingly so.  But I need to run off a copy for the conductor and also for the final "book" of the show for this production.  I just hope  I don't keep reading this transposition "down" - it's happened before - I just seem to get in that mode.

All the resorts I have been to, have been the floating variety.  However, each of those vacations, whether seven days or thirty, has been incredible.

I have a  2 questions

On the trailer for the rerelease was the voice over Malachi Throne?

On the comparisons section

The 2005 restoration vs 2005 video version. IMHO the video transfer looks better. The sky looks bluer than the film restoration. Shouldn't they be the same? WHy the difference?

As to Disney World's resort hotels, a word of warning:  While the Polynesian Resort is my all-time favorite (and Grand Floridian Resort looks just great and apparently is great according to Jose's post above) the so-called Contemporary Resort is a "resort" only in the most kind sense of the word.  While priced as a luxury property, it is really just an extremely well-located ordinary hotel.  A big disappointment in terms of atmosphere and amenities after having stayed at the Polynesian.  I would probably stay there again because of its great location, and the fact that the hotel houses the great California Grill, but I now know what to expect in terms of the place itself.

Thank you SO much, DR td, for this information. I went to the website but saw no way to leave a message and was going to have to send a snail mail letter.

Now, I'll start with an e-mail and go from there.

And reading other opinions at amazon.com, it's obvious that lots of other people are outraged as well.

I had planned to watch SUPERNATURAL off the DVR during the 8 p.m. hour leading up to LOST, but instead got consumed with STATE FAIR.

First, the 1962 version looked and sounded just fine. I even listened to a bit of Pat Boone's commentary, but he doesn't talk constantly. There are quite a few quiet portions where the film just plays. However, I only listened to the last maybe 15 minutes of the film with the commentary track turned on. Up until then, I was listening to the Dolby 4.0 surround track.

Pamela Tiffin was not a very talented actress, at least not in this. That Southern drawl she's attempting is pretty awful, and then Anita Gordon's voice comes in singing for her with NO accent.

I also played some of the 1945 version of STATE FAIR, and I'll be darned if I didn't think the color in this wasn't up to snuff either. It seemed very pastel and not very rich Technicolor. The image was sharp enough but the color didn't pop at all.

I stuck in the old DVD of STATE FAIR to compare and sure enough, the colors are deeper and richer in that transfer. But the old one doesn't have the stereo track or the commentary that the new disc has. I guess I'm going to have to hang on to both. Argh!

Yep, LOST was jammed full of action and exposition all right, but for my taste, it was just a bit TOO jam packed. I know the viewing public would be up in arms if they had to stay several weeks away from Jack and Kate and Sawyer and Charlie and Hurley and Locke, but really, some of the events that happened to these other survivors deserved a lot more fleshing out and could have made for exceptional hour broadcasts of their own.

I felt it was way too rushed, like having a Cliff's Notes summary of their story with all the tone and detail missing. Just a bunch of climaxes that were exciting but not as satisfying as they might have been.

INVASION gets creepier by the week. It's clear we have a variation on INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS with this show, but how it's happening and how long it takes for the substitutions to take over are making for really flesh crawling viewing.

Creepy fun!

So, the DVR line-up for tomorrow consists of SUPERNATURAL, LAW & ORDER, and VERONICA MARS.

Good Evening!

The chart is done.  And I got it done a lot quicker than I thought it would have taken.  So, I decided to go ahead and do some corrections and edits on some of the other charts I've been working on, and then get them all printed out.  -Just one more print out to go.  *I would have had this done a few minutes ago, but I got into auto-pilot mode and shut down my laptop before printing out the file I had just edited and saved.  Ah, well...

But it's done!

And like DR MattH - I liked tonight's episode of "Lost", but it was just a bit too too much.  Myself, I would not have minded having the storyline stretched over another episode or two... or even three.

Maybe FOX doesn't want to hear about how bad their OKLAHOMA! transfer really is!  I'm fairly certain that the R&H org. will have something to say. . .

Back from a long but good rehearsal - still having issues with a couple of cast members - hopefully all will be sorted out by Monday.  But, the opening number is finished - never got to the act one closer but that's much easier and will only take me a couple of hours on Monday.

I am so on overload right now - I still have to find one more Laverne and Shirley clip, then one more DVD after that, then I must put post-its with time codes on thirty-five DVDs.  Notes may be a little late.  Then I have to meet David Wechter at EIGHT in the morning in the Oaks of Sherman.

SPOILER

Re: "LOST" -- SPOILER

I thought tonight's show was devastatingly BRILLIANT...well done, beautifully acted, and it brought all the key survivors of the tail section into sharp focus.

I now have an attachment to some of them as great as I have toward others from the front section of the plane whose stories preceded.

I'm not at all worried about exposition, as we will surely get details on all of them down the line.  Front and center is Ana Alicia who now pops for me as one of the best characters on the show, along with Eko.

I can't think of a better way for the writers to have done this -- they obviously have to get back to the "other" survivors and merge the groups.

I truly loved this episode...one of the best I've ever seen in any genre!

Also interesting is the insights we got into "the others" -- that they're probably not cannibals, but have integrated their kidnap victims into their tribe...for  purposes, I'm sure, to be revealed later.

So, here it is late at night and I should be getting to bed.

I'm so keyed up after "Lost" and "Invasion", though.

I definitely enjoyed tonight's "Lost" and "Invasion" shows!  It would have been nice to get a little more (maybe two episodes) of the other Lost survivors, but the recap was more than adequate for me.

Tomorrow at work, we're having a Technical Services lunch (pizza), provided by the technical services supervisor (Judy, my supervisor's supervisor).  She is providing the lunch for all of us (more than 20!) and I was asked to put together a couple of CDs for music...and NO SHOW TUNES!!  Why in the world would they ask ME to put together some music and not want show tunes??  How rude! ;)

Anyway, I have some light jazz recordings that would not be inappropriate for background music:  solo CDs from members of The Manhattan Transfer; Ella Fitzgerald; Cleo Laine; Natalie Cole; Michael Bublé; Bill Charlap; Lea DeLaria; Ann Hampton Callaway; Harry Connick, Jr.; and most of the BK produced Sondheim in jazz CDs...what they don't know won't hurt them. ;D

Confused, I am, over this.

What are the distinctions between "restoration" and "video version" as stated above?

What "video transfer" are you talking about?  The current DVD release?  A previous one?
