Title: DOWN TO THE WIRE
Post by: bk on January 12, 2006, 12:17:10 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wired, you were wired reading the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're down to the wire chewing their collective cuds, after which they shall return.

PennyO posted her Deceit thoughts late last night, so check 'em out.  And, we've ordered some plants - don't think we can do the rug under the coffee table at this point, but might try to find a shawl for the white chair.  I might also hang a couple more things on the walls.

Hi,

I'm the administator of  'The Connotator'  We're a fan message board for Matt Ashford & his 'DAYS' character Jack.

I just wanted to tell you that we had a couple of our posters go to the Tuesday preview.

They had a great time and gave rave reviews for the play, and of course for Matt.   ;D

One gal gave a small review on our board. She didn't give anything away though.

She liked it so well, she plans on attending one or two more performances.

The play sounds very thrilling, best of luck with it.

Welcome, Michelle.  As long as she didn't give anything away, can you post her review here?

We love Matt - terrific actor (and really terrific in this play), and a great guy.  I took him aside yesterday and told him that I'd had a very specific thing in my head for his character, and not only did he "get" that, he gave me two hundred percent more - lots of interesting little touches, and I just couldn't imagine anyone else in the part, frankly.

In Michelle's post that follows there are, I suppose, what could be slight (very slight) spoilers, so read at your own peril.

I sure can.

"Hey gang. Well, I saw Matt's play last night, and it was really good. I kept looking over at my friend Amy, and her mouth was just open in shock half the time! Matt was very riveting.

He asked me not to give really any plot points, because it would totally spoil it, so I'll of course honor his request. I can say, it only has a 3 person cast, and Matt's in the entire thing. He plays Michael, the childhood best friend of a man named Jeffrey, who died in a boating accident 6 months before. He comes back to the states after being in England for 10 years, and stops by to meet Jeffrey's widow Kate, and events unfold from there. As Matt said, there were definitely shades of Jack Deveraux - the darker years. He was at one moment charming and witty, the next, well, quite scary. A bit of Dr. Haver in that character, too, definitely. So yeah, it was a thriller, but with a good amount of humor in it. :) Oh, and the best part - Matt's character wore a suit through the whole thing, and looked very very good.

Matt's trying to arrange for one of the last performances in February to be an RBI benefit, which would be cool, and he asked me to spread the word and tell people to come see it, which I will do gladly because it was good. I'm going to back at least another time or two and see it again.

Steph "

things very edited here, but I posted this back

"At times like Haver huh,.... well isn't THAT Creepy! Matt was creepy & scary enough as Haver on tv can you imagine live on stage!"

To which Stephanie responded

"Oh yeah, it was definitely creepy to be mere feet away from Matt when he's acting like Haver. I don't know how Linda Dano and Bree Williamson were able to get through those scenes! And yes, I will definitely give a more thorough synopsis once it's all said and done. "

Haver.. is Dr. Stephen Haver a serial killer Matt played on One Life to Live a couple years back, who was creepy as all heck! haha

As for the Topic of the Day, Book Covers...I work for a library, and have for more than 20 years!  I look at books practically every single moment that I'm at work.  There have been waayyyyyyyy too many for my little brain to remember the ones that stand out. ;)

In other words:  I love them all!

In Michelle's post that follows there are, I suppose, what could be slight (very slight) spoilers, so read at your own peril.

Bruce, I'm glad you are finding out what a wonderful actor Matt is. I could gush about his acting all day. haha

I was reading some of your archive columns yesterday. I loved reading that it was Kevin Spiritas who recommended Matt read for the role. I remember Kevin fondly from his 'DAYS' tenure. Kevin deserves a big thumbs up for that recommendation.

The 'interesting little touches' you speak of,  I know just what you mean. Matt has an incredible ability to add these slight little nuances that really go to defining and fleshing out a personality for a character. They are not big things, and often times can go unnoticed, just very subtle little things that really round out the character and bring him to life.

There was a scene Matt did on One Life to Live a couple years back, as a serial killer, where all he had to do was sit in a chair and eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. There wasn't any dialouge. It was just him eating a sandwhich. Somehow, Matt made something as innocent as eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich into something incredibly sinister.

I'm sorry if I posted anything above that was vaguely spoilerish.  :-[ I didn't think there was anything in there for story that wouldn't have been already known from playbill.com

Hope everything goes well tonight, and "Someone" isn't 'out to sea' again.  ;)

And thanks for the Welcome George.

Michelle

More pictures.

Here I am standing at one of the famous landmarks of Dublin, the gate to Trinity College. We took a walking tour and it began at the gates of Trinity. The Book of Kells (illuminated manuscripts) is also located at Trinity, unfortunately, due to holiday scheduling, the Book of Kells exhibit was closed so we couldn't see it.

Thursday morning greetings!  It's supposed to be a beautiful spring-like day here today.

TOD - As DR George already knows (and I hope DR Jed is about to find out), people who work in public libraries are surrounded by thousands of book jackets.  When I worked in a college library, we didn't keep the jackets on the books, so I was able to use them for some fun projects.  The two that come to mind are:

For a "Season's Readings" bulletin board, I made cut-out snowflakes out of book jackets.

For a visit from elementary-age children who were in the campus' Kids in College program, I made a jigsaw puzzle for each kid out of book jackets.  Each child received an envelope containing the puzzle pieces to take home.

Good Morning!

It looks like a beautifully sunny day outside, and I'll be heading down to the Tidal Basin in a few to get my run in.  -There's been a lot of fog this morning, and they just showed a very shrouded view of the Washington Monument on the news, so...  But it's supposed to get up to the lower 60s.

In the meantime, I've sent some e-mails and taken care of my banking stuff online (ugh).  And I've already had my breakfast.

-Who knew there was so much "day" before 10:00am?!?!?

As for the Topic of the Day...

The most "iconic" one for me would have to be the paperback version of J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye".  Not the current version of it, but that deep marroon one with the orange-gold lettering.  No pics, just text.  But instantly recognizable.

Otherwise...

And even though the author has very recently come under much scrutiny...

Greetings!!

Another one of Matt's fans that drifted over from a fan message board called the Connotator.... HJBJDJ (Michelle) provided the link in an earlier post.

Furthering Michelle's comments about Matt as Haver, he was incredibly creepy. A great combination of charming and creepy at the same time. It was amazing to watch. In on scene where Haver was taunting one of his victims with a leotard was incredible. He was calm, almost nonchalant but his voice made your hair stand on end.

Kevin Spirtas is another fun actor to watch. I am also glad he recommended Matt.

I just wanted Bruce, Matt, Tammy and Greg to break a leg with the premiere tomorrow night!!!  Have fun and let it rip!

I have read through a number of the columns and post and they are an interesting read. As are some of the posts on this thread. I have enjoyed the pictures of Ireland as posted by Ben. I have a good freind who is originally from Ireland and I recognized many of the sites you had photographed.

The promos keep braying that it's hard enough for a series to do it once, but that "Will and Grace" is doing it a second time.

Yawn.  The first time was a dud of a show (like the bulk of this season).  Doing it live ain't special enough if it's not funny!

Butt cracks -- are erotic only when seen in isolated occurrences...never when "shared" by an audience, unless the intent is hilarity.

I think WILL & GRACE has had an up and down year. The SOUND OF MUSIC-themed show last week got funnier as I re-watched it. It was really quite wittily written, but to get most of the jokes, one would need to be a REAL fan of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.

I liked the live season premiere more than you did, DR Ron. No, it wasn't the best the show has ever done, but again, I felt some of the lines were funnier than audience response generated. (And I much preferred the West Coast version to the East Coast even though a couple of funny jokes got edited and were less funny.)

Since I work at night, I do not get the chance to watch the telly that much. DWTS is fun and I have seen bits and pieces of that. There are some good dancers.

George, had mentioned earlier about libraries. I have some entertaining tales about them.  I have heard the most colorful and creative excuses for overdue books. A great actor? No way, but playing Aquaman I'm not sure would require one.

PennyO, a woman's point of view on set dressing is always interesting.  :)

Rodzinski, this is the week from hell for me, with a bunch of gigs, but I'll dub your movie ASAP and get it off to you, promise.

So to star in a tv show you can have star quality but few acting skills? :)

Actually I didn't really find the aquaguy we saw that physically stunning.  I mean he did definitely have a nice physique.  But his scenes with Lois didn't really grab me.

I agree with you, Jennifer.  Nobody on that show has ever made Tom Welling look bad in any way.

I'm thinking this is a matter of horses for courses.

I really think this is the best way to premiere a new show.  You have to put it after something that many people are watching.  Look at what it did for Grey's Anatomy.

On the other hand, "Grey's AnatomY' is a high-quality show.  It's not a case of a weak show riding the coattails of its better>

Re: the L5Y (last 5 years)

I know TPunk would be all about that. She loves that show.

Wow, how cool is that.  I love the show too! (although i've only heard the cast recording). I really like Julia Murney though, so I think this could be neat.  Although I'm very curious to know if Jason Robert Brown can act. I wonder why he is doing the show himself?

Welcome, newbies!

I must say again how much I enjoyed the play last night. And, no, I did not notice anyone "off" or "thrown by someone else's off-ness" - which is more a tribute to the writing than anything else. The storytelling is masterful.  I think it doesn't matter WHO plays these characters very much, beyond a certain technical competence and adequate chops. One set, three characters easy to cast, minimal tech requirements, plays under 2 hours with intermission - I think it will make the rounds of ALL the smaller theaters within 5 years. And should play off-Broadway for season after season. With or without stars in the roles.  It's an audience-grabber and an audience HOLDER - and what the first act promises, the second act delivers.

Thanks for the Welcomes!!

I have been reading some of the other threads before I get ready for work and you all are quite entertaining...

I envy those of you who live in an area where you can get theater. It is something I crave and do not get the opportunity to see.

As for telly, unless you have cable in the part of the country, you are lucky if you get one or two channels. I get two: NBC and PBS. I do get ABC on a good day provided the sun, moon and stars are aligned properly.

There are aspects of the Coen Brothers movie, that aptly describe this area.... Sad I know!!   ;D

I didn't mean to imply that Grey's Anatomy was not good.  I just meant that it is very hard to get people to watch new shows.  And I really believe that premiering it after Desperate Housewives was one of the big reasons the show caught on.

Crumbs got very good ratings here in the paper.   But even if people tune in, if it's bad then people probably won't continue to watch!  It has to be decent AND you have to find a way to get people to watch the first episodes.

I didn't take that implication...sorry I made it seem I did.  It's just that so many new shows are introduced that way.

There is no guarantee "Grey's Anatomy" would have survived had it not been for its following "Desperate Housewives"...but its quality IS second to none on broadcast TV.

They have a food thing up here that some people like... It is called Lutefisk [codfish soaked in lye]. I will not touch it with a 10 foot pole. It is the most foul thing I have ever seen...

I have seen one professional theatrical production of Shakespeare that I loved. It was "A Midsummer's Night Dream" IT was great. Love Shakespeare!

Re:  Last 5 Years.  I was working with JRB cohort Brooks Ashmankas right after the cast recording had been released and I told Brooks how much I thought (and still think) Norbert sounds like him.  To which Brooks told me that JRB told him that he actually wrote a lot of Last 5's score with Brooks' voice in mind, but that JRB didn't think Brooks could play a Jew.  Not to mention someone tall.   ;D

Technology can be a miracle department:  In uploading stuff to my website, I have been going back through literally decades of old cassettes, some of which are really badly damaged.  I had two recordings of an old Howard Jones-esque (anyone remember him?) piece of mine called Latin Jazz, with tons of echo-ey synths and me singing in Latin (hence the title).  Unfortunately, like an idiot, I had not removed the protect-tab and had stupidly erased little sections from both copies through the years.  But this morning with a little time and effort and Cakewalk Pyro, I have been able to reconstruct a complete version, which really makes me happy.  I played it for DS Betsy and she could not tell where the edits were, which is truly amazing, because the synth echoes are really prominent throughout the whole piece.

George, had mentioned earlier about libraries. I have some entertaining tales about them.  I have heard the most colorful and creative excuses for overdue books. One of the best ones is someone chatting on their phone, walking and not watching where they are going and they plow right into a closed door that is NOT locked....

Fortunately where I work, we don't charge fines for late materials.  And if it is considered "lost" and you pay for it, if you still find it and return it within a certain amount of time (maybe six months), you can get a refund!  So, no excuses are necessary! :)

I had to replace my furnace the last year I was teaching, and DR MBarnum is right: it's an expensive proposition. I was also in SCROOGE during the time it died on me, and I remember coming in one Friday night and sleeping fully clothed and under an electric blanket to keep warm that night. Thankfully, I had some space heaters I could sit in front of during the day as I waited for the men to install the new one.

And wouldn't you know it, the following summer, my central air unit died, and I had to replcae it, too. So two MAJOR outlays of money in less than a year.

MidAmerican Energy is offering a $250 rebate here on new furnaces that are at least 92% efficient and if you get their free homecheck and then put in new insulation as recommended they give you a rebate of 70% of the cost of insulation up to $600.   I don't know if there is the same type of program there, but it's certainly worth looking into.

MBarnum...good vibes on the new furnace, I've very familiar with getting new forced air/gas furnaces but don't know a thing about oil furnaces, here's hoping that there is suddenly a fabulous oil furnace sale....

Also, if you have to replace it, check with your utility company. Lots of times there are great rebates and  financing if you replace it with something energy efficient

Evidently only one company even makes the type of under the floor oil furnace that I currently have...and it is around $5000!  :-\

...so who knows what I will end up with.

Good Afternoon!

And it really has been a Good Afternoon and Day so far.

My run around the Tidal Basin was wonderful.  The sun was out, the fog had lifted, and the temp was just around 60 - cool, but not cold.  I just ran until my body and my mind told me to stop.  I ended up running for 30 minutes straight.  I wasn't going for distance, just duration.  -I also made every effort to NOT look at my watch while running - that helped to make the time and distance go by.  From the maps and guides, I'm guessing I ran just under three miles.  And I could really tell I'm in better shape now since I was not as winded post-run as I was used to being.  After the run, I took a brief walk through the FDR Memorial, and even did a couple of sets of push-ups and crunches on one of the granite benches. And some yoga stretches and poses.  It really was a great bit of exercise.  I'm hoping that the rain holds off on Saturday for a bit so that I can another run in around the Tidal Basin.  -And the smile that came to my face as I rounded the bend and saw the Jefferson Memorial - my starting point - a couple hundred yards away...

:D

-I really am digging this whole exercise stuff!

;)

*And I'm guessing part of the reason I had such a good run was the chocolate from last night!

::)

And I even managed to get in stops at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Border's on the way home.  -And as I thought, Border's is giving out more discount coupons for next weekend.  -Last week was 30% off, this week was 25% and next week will be 20%.

DR MBarnum - Is your furnace part of your water heater setup?  If not - and I'm not even sure if that's even possible - could you just go to space heaters for the remainder of the winter?  One of my roomies in NYC found a great digital electric one - I think it's made by Vornado.  It really heats up a room very fast, and it doesn't make any noise at all.  -Or do you have to make sure your pipes don't freeze once the real winter weather sets in?

In any case...  I hope the repair man is ruggedly handsome.  And a former Bollywood actor.

RE: Fargo, ND - When I was on tour, we stopped in Fargo, ND.  I believe we ate at the Perkins there.  And I also remember dropping off some postcards and mail there just so that I could get the postmark.  -Oh, and the mall wasn't bad either.

And down the road a bit, isn't there that place with the large concrete and metal animals?  I seem to remember a moose.

The news about JRB and Julia Murney doing L5Y broke a few days ago.  However, I believe right after Ms. Murney does her stint out in LA - which I would love to get out to see, but I can't - she's taking over the role of Glinda on the Wicked tour.  She's gonna rock!

*I would just hate to be the pianist and/or music director for L5Y with the creator as one of it's stars.  Too, too much pressure.

DR Jose,
Thankfully the water heater is not connected with the oil heater. I am going to borrow some electric heaters from a co-worker after work and who knows, maybe I will use those for the remainder of the winter.

Yes, the one consolation would be for heater guy to be, well, nice! LOL! Sadly, the one who came out today was not nice...in that way.

I did once have a cable man who was very, very nice...but that, as they say, is a whole 'nother story!  ;)

I saw the show's last performance.  I thought it was great, and I would be so eager to see Jason Robert Brown in the role.  Perhaps it's based on something he experienced himself...

I know that some people really hated it, but I guess I was in the right (or maybe wrong) mood to watch it.  All I know is that it very definitely touched a nerve with me and that I just about sobbed at the end.

I really like Natalie Portman's performance and Jude and Clive were good.  I didn't hate Julia's acting like I thought I would.  Be prepared not to like any of the characters.  I have a bit of a dark side, so it appealed to me.

I have so many book covers I love.  There are many Edgar Rice Burroughs' novels with great covers done by J. Allen St. John; John Coleman Burroughs; Frank Frazetta; and Roy Krenkel.  I love my Rafael Sabatini covers...always slick and swashbuckling.  Many of the covers to my P.C. Wren novels are great.  Though most of Rider Haggard's novels weren't issued with dust jackets originally.  My of the later books and re-issues of the earlier ones are terrific!  Sax Rohmer's Fu Manchu and other novels usually had mysterious, exotic jackets or covers.  Unfortunately, the books are still in boxes (the library comes in next week) or I would post some for your delectation.  Many times I've bought a book strictly for the cover art alone.

I liked the movie also.  And yes at times it was hard to like any of the characters (or their actions).  But the thing that struck me the most was how it was filmed.  It was so not the typical movie. It was very obvious it was a play.  The way so much info was missing. And how they filled us in on it. While I was watching it it just felt so much more like a play than a movie.

On the subject of book jackets, I guess among my favorites is James Kirkwood's DIARY OF A MAD PLAYWRIGHT because Kirkwood, Carol Channing and Mary Martin look so happy on the cover, yet there's a glint of craziness in the ladies' insanely happy expressions.  I also really like the cover of George Burn's book GRACIE, a simple heart framing the young Burns and Allen - just one of the most touching covers I've seen, I think.

I had a very nice experience this afternoon.  My academic advisor (the person controlling my fate at Fordham) paid a visit to my field supervisor (the person controlling my fate at my internship).  Some very complimentary things were said and my field supervisor said that not only was I doing well for an advanced year student, but that she thought I was doing better than some beginning social workers. :)  Which means, barring any unforceable disaster, that I will graduate without a hitch and get an excellent recommendation.

I'm not in the least surprised.  Congratulations.

DR Jose,
Thankfully the water heater is not connected with the oil heater. I am going to borrow some electric heaters from a co-worker after work and who knows, maybe I will use those for the remainder of the winter.

Please put new batteries in your smoke alarms and be sure to unplug the heaters when you aren't using them.

Often the title, cover or a combination of the two is the sole reason I read a book.  One such book waiting to be read is “Einstein in Berlin” Interesting is how rarely I’m disappointed.

DR JMK, I wouldn't say that the volume levels of the musical samples are ungodly, but they are robust.  There was also a crackly pop at the beginning of each file.  Otherwise, I liked what I heard.

In other news...

The show tonight stunk!  Literally!

::)

About halfway through the first act, I started to smell "something".  Hmm...  I began to think that someone in the front row had an "accident"... Or someone in the pit had a bad lunch and/or dinner... Or...  Well...

When I left the pit at intermission and reach the back hallway, the smell was even worse.  Apparently, there was a sewer back-up outside, and the smell was the back-up.  -And, sure enough, when we stepped outside... P! U!

The cellist happened to bring in a grapefruit, and she was peeling it at the coffee stand when I started walking back to the pit.  It smelled so good.  So... I grabbed a piece of the rind, and rubbed it right below my nose... Ah... much better.  And then others started to do the same.

-Thankfully, by the time show ended, the smell inside and outside had dissipated.  Whew!

But, otherwise, it was a very good show, and our newest cast member had a wonderful debut.

:)

I thought Clive Owen walked away with the film; he blew me away (talking about CLOSER). And what's amazing is that when he did it on stage, he played Jude Law's part.

Portman was very good, but I think my expectations were lowered because of her dreadful work in STAR WARS II, so in this directed by Mike Nichols, she seemed not to be the same actress at all.

I spent the evening watching the National Figure Skating Championships. Tonight were the short programs for the men and women.

So, all of the NBC comedies plus CRUMBS were caught by the DVR to be watched tomorrow.

I did flip to WILL & GRACE a couple of times during commercials (which happened after almost each skater), and the audience seemed to be dead. However, I haven't seen the entire show, so it's perhaps not fair to judge.

skating spoilers---

On the men's side, Johnny Weir was the class of the men's group. He skated an effortless, graceful program with no mistakes and put himself in prime position to win once again (finals are Saturday afternoon for the men).

All of the other men had mistakes of one kind or another. A couple of years ago, I was very impressed by a skater named Ryan Janhke. Sad to say, he finished 7th tonight meaning we won't see his free program on Saturday. We didn't see his short program tonight either.

More skating spoilers ------

On the women's side, Sasha Cohen and Beatrisa Liang had the most flawless, smoothest skates. Emily Hughes had a nice skate with great energy, but had a couple of awkward landings.

Can it be a mere four years ago that her sister Sarah, who had finished 3rd in our national championships, came out of nowhere to win the Olympic gold medal? Yep.

According to the back cover, "Jack Van Impe began studying the accordion at the age of five under the tutelage of his father. He worked dilligently for fifteen years on his instrument and rose to radio and television fame."

I know some of his hardcore evangelical albums are sought after.

"Joining her husband in this hi-fidelity album is Jack's devoted wife Rexella."

As for commentators for this year's skating, ESPN (and I'm sure ABC later) went overboard with skating names:

In addition to Terry Gannon and Dick Button who anchor every year and Peggy Fleming who does the women's side, they had Kurt Browning giving play by play on the men's side and Katarina Witt offering not much of anything but her broken English. Paul Wylie was on hand to point out the new scoring system in use this year at nationals for the first time, and Peter Carruthers interviewed some skaters after they skated. Susie Wynn also had some comments about the ice dancers.

An observation or two:

We have no men who can consistently do quads any more. I'm not sure their point value is worth the risk in attempting them (you get mandatory point deductions each time you fall), but they don't seem to be worried about not being able to pull them off. Better to skate cleanly with lots of footwork and changes of edges to rack up points in the new system. Jumping is a bit less important than it used to be.

As some may know, reigning national champion Michelle Kwan is not competing this year at Nationals, out with an injury. But she has petitioned the USFA to place her on the team based on past performance. As this is likely to happen, more than likely the girl who finishes third in the championships will not get an autonmatic berth on the team. I suspect she'll be named an alternate to skate if Michelle isn't healed by the time of the Olympics, but in all likelihood, the third place finisher won't be going to the Olympics this year.

I was happy to see on the DVR a recording of Agatha Christie's THIRTEEN AT DINNER. Once I burn a DVD of it, I will have the entire selection of Peter Ustinov Poirots that he did for CBS and the two Helen Hayes Miss Marples for CBS.

I've been waiting to get these in high quality copies for a long time. All I had were some crappy taped-off-TV copies in EP speed that were unwatchable.

The portable heater  that I borrowed seems to be doing the job. According to the thermostat it is 58 degrees in my living room...a bit chilly, but better then a kick in the pants.

So I am warming up with a Bollywood movie to get my 4 day weekend kick-started.

Jeetendra, Asha Parekh, Helen, Aruna Irani, and Jr. Mehmood in CARAVAN!

I have the soundtrack which I have been playing a lot the last few weeks, so thougth it would be fun to finally see the movie.

Rodzinski, you have truly and utterly blown my mind, no mean feat.  I had no idea Jack was a "recording artist".  On accordion yet.  I knew Rexella sang.  I am a closet Jack Van Impe freak (I guess not any longer, eh?).  It is a parlor game of mine to watch him and count how many scriptures he can quote in a single show.  Sometimes I break it down into how many he can quote in a minute or 30 seconds, just for variety's sake.  I am beyond stunned.

I haven't gone over to Wikipedia to check, but I am fairly certain Rexella was some kind of beauty queen, maybe even a contestant in Miss America.   You have not lived until you've heard attempt to pronounce words like Azerbaijan.  :)

Another great segment of the show is when the stentorian announcer comes on to announce that week's "love offering," which is yours simply for writing, but why don't you send some money, too, OK?

Now you've just listened to Jack sprout off maybe 200 Bible verses in a minute and a half (I'm not kidding, folks) and wax rhapsodic (or is that rapture-sodic) about how rosy things will be when Jesus gets here.

At which point the commercial for the "love offering" comes on:  "Doomsday", announces the extremely deep, almost G-dlike voice.  "Is it just around the corner?  Jack Van Impe knows the answer."  At which point you get wonderful clips of atom bombs, starving children and lots of rain.

I'm telling you people, it is entertainment of the grandest order, and you really should search it out on your airwaves.  It usually airs on the UHF Christian channels, like TBN.

Which of course brings us to Paul and Jan ("Pink Hair") Crouch, two more of my absolute all time faves in that genre.

Now you know what I do late evenings when I don't have a gig.   ;D
