Well, you've read the notes, you are girding your loins for day one of three days of reckoning, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they'll be home right after the reckoning, I reckon.

Opening night!
Break a leg, everyone!
-
Happy Birthday, TPunk!
-
Break a leg everyone!!
And from what Stephanie said at the Connotator, BK, you have a great show....
I Reckon the sun will smile warmly and allow for many broken legs!

And the word of the day is: TRANSCENDENT!
-
Yes, to transcend the powers that hold one in a place but one's dreams sail through walls that no man can penetrate.....

Regarding THE LAST FIVE YEARS:
I saw JRB perform the role of Jamie in New York a few years ago, along with Lauren Kennedy. He actually IS the musical director and does play the piano while performing .
It's very emotional--having seen and heard him in that role, nothing can compare. He actually had to stop and compose himself for a moment during Nobody Needs To Know.
I have tickets to see him on Jan. 30th. Can't wait.

A most wonderful and happy natal day to TPunk!
Though we can't join you tonight at La Cocina, I hope we see you Monday at Barrymore's. We will hoist an intermission (or interval since I'm still in Irish mode) drink to you when we see Cats at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts. We have a friend in the show.
I'm listening to Friday Night is Music Night on BBC 2 right now. I have two meetings during the day but I will probably be listening to AccuRadio. I don't have many CDs here at the office today. We will be on Long Island (as I've mentioned before) this weekend and I don't think we have anything out there to watch. We may go to the library and see what they have. When we get back to NYC on Sunday we may watch more episodes of Slings and Arrows. It's a show Anthony's mother recorded from the Sundance Channel. It's about the trials and tribulations of a theatre company in Canada. We have watched five episodes so far and enjoy it.

Time for a few more pictures.
While in Dublin we went out for tea, as we love to do when visiting European capitals.
Here is the tray of goodies from the Westbury High Tea
-
Here is a picture of two sated tourists after eating almost everything on that tray.
-
And finally, here are the same two tourists in a "special interest" establishment (we truly are everywhere) after seeing March of the Penguins. We walked by, saw a certain colored flag and decided to pop in and see the locals.

Do-Re-Media Check:
iPod: I felt compelled this morning to listen to both THE PRODUCERS OCR and OST. Hopefully, I'll get to see the movie this weekend.
Tivo: I recorded last night's WILL & GRACE and CRUMBS. I'll be paying attention to other DRs' opinions today before I make time to watch either.
DVD Player: I will make time to watch A UNMARRIED WOMAN this weekend.

Ah yes, as DRJMK wrote - Jack and Rexella are still at it. They occupy at least a half hour a day on the TBN and Daystar Satellite Networks. I have never seen Jack play the accordion, maybe he doesn't have time. As JMK wrote, Rexella does read the newspapers (and letters and cards from viewers) and Jack comments on them.
Jan & Paul Crouch (and their son and his perky wife and THEIR son) are staples on Praise the Lord a two-hour block that is the linchpin of TBN. They broadcast out of Texas at times, but mostly from Santa Ana, CA. Paul once said: "Don't send me any more letters about Jan's eye makeup or hair....send them to her."
Jan & Paul were a couple of the Philistines (along with Jimmy Swaggart) who pillaged the satellite network that Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker had spent years building up. The Bakkers worked themselves into sin and destruction getting the links and licenses, and when they fell, it was a sort of Old West free-for-all to get the airwaves....the Crouch family emerged the winners.
-
Page Two Jim & Tammy Dance.
They will always be my favorites and even Kevin Spacey & Bernadette Peters (talented as they are :P) did NOT begin to capture their personalities in the TV movie about their rise and fall.
-
Broken leg vibes on the first day of reckoning (of three) - good vibes for the cast, crew, staff, AND director - and the caterer who is doing the party!!
I hope you are playing Alfred Hitchcock movie themes for the party!

Re: the new Jane Curtin comedy CRUMBS that was premiering last night.
I'm not sure what I think of this show. It's not that easy to get involved in a new comedy. It did have some moments of funniness. And the actors are all pretty good. But I'm not sure if the premise will keep me entertained.
Basically the mom, Jane Curtin is getting out of the looney bin. Her husband has left her for a younger woman and she tried to run him over (or something like that).
She has one gay son (Fred Savage) and one playboy son (forget his name). And the guy from Knots Landing plays the father (why can't i remember his name).
Like I said, I did laugh. Jane Curtin is very good. But I don't think I will watch every week.
Curious to know what others think.

DR George, I proposed that we swap W&G coastal broadcasts yesterday morning, but you never responded (it was either on page one or two). Yes, I would like the West Coast version of the show. I will dub you an East Coast version at some point today and try to get it in the mail tomorrow.
-
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Happiest of Happy Birthday Wishes to Antonia (aka TPunk)![/move]
-
Re: Will & Grace. DR George did ask, night before last, if anyone on the east coast would be recording last night's show...and proposed a swap, as well. I guess signals got crossed.
I thought the show reeked. To HIGH HEAVEN.
LIVE does not suit this show. The writing reminded me of the WORST of the "Frasier" episodes...the ones in which the writers, completely out of good ideas, wrote shows that made the stars look like blithering idiots/nincompoops. Last night's "Will & Grace" seemed more an homage to "The Three Stooges" than anything connected to the characters that have been established over the past six years. I was very, very disappointed with the entire enterprise.
Leslie Jordan WAS a hoot, though.
-
Thank you for all of the birthday wishes!
-
Last night's debut of "Crumbs":
DR Jennifer, what can I say? I think I agree with you.
I was appalled at the "tracked" music...choral voices a la "I Married Joan" without any of the same effectiveness? (If you don't know what I'm talking about, I simply cannot explain it).
And for every 5 minutes of show, it seemed we got 10 minutes of commercials. I was totally LIVID at the number of commercials crammed into the all-too-frequent breaks in the show. They ruined the pacing of what the actors were trying to accomplish, IMO.
I think it's an interesting concept and I thought all the actors were first-rate.
Although, I wouldn't call Fred Savage's brother a "playboy." He's more like an out-of-control ladies man, but he's also a doofus.
-
Happy Birthday, TPUNK!! ;D
Hee hee, is this supposed to be me?
-
Re: Will & Grace. DR George did ask, night before last, if anyone on the east coast would be recording last night's show...and proposed a swap, as well. I guess signals got crossed.
I saw his original proposal which is what made me answer him the following morning. That was the message which I don't think he saw. At any rate, I will be burning him a DVD of the show.
-
DR Ron, don't you have any thoughts to share about the figure skating last night. I would never imagine that you didn't watch it.
-
Hee hee, is this supposed to be me?
He is copying your pose!
-
The premise of CRUMBS seemed to be pretty close to OUT OF PRACTICE, to me. And the humor didn't grab me in the promos, so I don't think I'll be watching this. Mental illness is probably the lowest target to aim for in humor....and this didn't seem to be done well enough to be a satire.
But - as I said, I don't plan to watch, so that's all I will comment.
-
Happy Birthday to TPunk, the Greatest Gal I know!

JMK-
Hilarious. Who knew I would awaken your inner Van Impe?
"Regarding his extraordinary memory in regard to Bible verses, Van Impe has said that he has memorized 14,000 verses, and that it took him 35,000 hours to do so."
How did he also have time to play the accordion???
-
Interesting news from DR CP that Clive Owen played Daniel in the London stage production of CLOSER....hmmmm....
As other DR's have written - I am agree that Mr Owen did a tremendous job in the movie as the Doctor. And of course GOOD WRITING helped a LOT!

Happy Birthday, TPUNK!!!
And best vibes for the show, Bruce. The writing is the star of this show - whatever technical or talent snafu's that ever did or could happen, the writing stands. The story is the story. End of story.
-
DR Ron, don't you have any thoughts to share about the figure skating last night. I would never imagine that you didn't watch it.
I saw two performances....Amber Corwin (doing the same routine she did last year -- and ?? the year before?? -- and doing it badly) and a replay of Sasha Cohen's routine.
I wish I could warm up to Sasha but she doesn't do a thing for me. She's like a little robot.
Without Michelle in the mix, I have little-to-no interest this year.

I only saw a few minutes of Will and Grace (during the commercials for Dancing With the Stars). I'm not that thrilled with the way they film the live shows. I only saw the little guy from Boston Legal. And some spraying fight with Grace, Will and Jack. Not extremely funny.
-
BK, best wishes to you and the cast tonight, I'm sure the show will be a smashing success. Things always have a way of pulling themselves together at the last minute. ;D
Happy Birthday, T'Punk, I hope you have a great day!

-
Did anyone watch Dancing With the Stars? I was upset for Lisa Rinna and Tatum O'Neal. I thought the judges were very harsh on them. And way too generous to Stacey (who i like) and even to george hamilton.
I must say I hate how they end the show. They used to put up everyone's scores so we could see them. But now they don't do that and instead just announce who is in what place. But they confused me with a bunch of the middle ones, cause i could not tell if they all had the same score!
I voted for Lisa Rinna. I assume that her and Tatum are in jeopardy. Basically P Master just has to get more fan votes than the person in 2nd to last place. So he could be around for a while. :(
-
Good Morning!
Well... I guess it was a good thing that I was at the "smelly" theatre last night instead of at home watching the "stinky" live episode of "Will & Grace".
;)
*I did some blurb about missing props... Hmmm... ???
-
Break a leg to BK and to the cast for tonight's show!
-
Well... It's still a bit cloudy and foggy right now, so I'm thinking I may just stay put today and putter around the house. -I'm taking care of my laundry right now. Exciting, huh? However, the big after Christmas markdowns start today at Macy's and Hecht's, so... We shall see...
-
DR JRand, wait a few weeks and then watch CLOSER again. I found I enjoyed it even more the second time around, and I thought Clive Owen's performance was even better upon "closer" examination.
I also think he should have been the next James Bond, not Daniel Craig.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR TPunk!!!!
Have some guacamole for me tonight at La Cocina! -And I'll see you Monday to give you your birthday hug!
:)
-
Michelle Kwan is elegance and grace personified, and I'm hopeful she'll have a full recovery. After watching last night's short programs, I wouldn't hesitate to put her on the Olympic team. But, of course, the long programs will tell the story.
BTW, during the broadcast, I was pleased to see one of my favorite male skaters Mark Mitchell interviewed as he's part of the International Skating Panel who will decide if Michelle's petition to be added to the team will be honored.
-
Instructions -
BK - break legs tonight
Tpunk - drink margaritas, eat copious amounts of cake
Jose - step away from the See's box!...assuming it isn't empty :D
-
Friday Media Check...
Well...
Nothing in the respective players, but the "TBV" (To Be Viewed) and "TBP" (To Be Played) piles have grown a little bit over the past two weeks. Someday...
;)
-
Amber Corwin's routine was sad (though she did land one of the few triple-triples of the night among the ladies). Alissa Czisny, who's gotten all this hype this season after winning a silver and gold in Grand Prix events, had a disastrous skate, and she still finshed 5th.
The scoring rules may have changed, but judges can still manipulate scores and prop up their favorites.
-
OH!
DR TPunk and company - The last time I was at La Cocina, I happened to try one of their coconut margaritas... Not bad. *And I think that I've now tried all the flavors from their "2 for 1" list.
::)

Now, I need to get a bit productive around here and also start prepping lunch.

I also think he should have been the next James Bond, not Daniel Craig.
Thanks, DR MATTH. I plan to watch it again soon.
As for Sasha Cohen - her attitude gets onto my last nerve, so I don't care if she EVER wins anything. The certainly mouths off much better than she skates.
-
Instructions -
Jose - step away from the See's box!...assuming it isn't empty :D
Not quite empty... yet. Check in with me again Sunday night.
;)
-And, remember, I blame Jane.
;D

Yes, DR DakotaCelt:

I am sure you can enlighten us also in many tales of wayward books. For some odd reasons graduate students where I work like dogs... Books and dogs do not mix!
-
I was pleased to see one of my favorite male skaters Mark Mitchell interviewed as he's part of the International Skating Panel who will decide if Michelle's petition to be added to the team will be honored.
Despite feelings some may have about her day being done, I think she remains one of the most popular skaters in the world...and certainly the best female skater I've ever seen...and any decision to exclude her/deny her petition would probably result in a great deal of outrage and a loss of public support/interest in figure skating.
Lord knows, the men aren't pulling in any fans.
-

DR Matt, I agree with about Michelle Kwan. She is a beautiful and elegant skater. I would not hesitate either to put her on the team. I have read this is one of the weakest competitions they have had in years. Time will tell about Michelle.
I curious to watch the ice dancing to see if the one couple does well. Their names escape me at the moment but Congress naturalized her to be a US citizen so she could compete for the US.

Good question...
However a few weeks ago on a cable channel there was a show that was looking back at fashion fads from the 70s to today. Yikes there was some scary looking things back in the 80s!

TOD - The CD in my car player is Barbara Cook's The Champion Season: A Salute to Gower Champion, but on my way to work this morning something made me tune to WGUC, Cincinnati's classical music station. One of the selections I heard was Mouret's Rondeau (aka Theme from Masterpiece Theatre), which DH Richard and I used as the processional for our wedding.
DVD - My new-to-me used copy of Topsy Turvy.
VCR - Maybe I'll record Sunday's figure skating exhibitions, but we'll see. Like others here, I was not impressed by what I saw last night. Did like seeing my all-time favorite skater, Paul Wylie. Guess an MBA is required to understand and explain the new scoring system!

I am going to head out... Run some errands, do some writing and perhaps enjoy a nice cappuccino.
IT is nice and warm here for January and yes, there is a strange golden orb in the sky... Our first truly sunny day in a very long time and I think I am going to go and enjoy it...
Again to Bruce, the cast and crew of Deceit, break a leg!!!!!
-
I can't talk about Pat Robertson without breaking into a rash.
And that, Missy, is because you want to divide Israel ;D
And probably because you're a lesbian too ;)
-
Last night DRCILLALIZ said she was dropping by the liquor store to pick up boxes for her move.
I was just imagining her new neighbors watching case after case after case of vodka, gin, whiskey being carried into the house!
LOL, they'll be pounding down the doors to get in! Liquor boxes are perfect for moving books, sturdy and just the right size to not be too heavy, and they are free!

Yes, they are!
-
My original day of birth was actually a Friday the 13th.
Now we can figure out how old you are!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TPUNK!!!

BREAK A LEG TO BK AND THE CAST AND CREW OF DECEIT
-
http://www.playbill.com/news/article/97317.html
It's official CURTAINS will premiere at the Ahmanson next summer!
-
It says how old she is (TPunk that is), right on the calendar. I'm almost double how old she is. Oy!
-
Pat Robertson is
the a minion of Satan the devil.
-
The title of my next play will be THE ACCORDIANIST'S WIFE. It may or may not feature a character named Rexella.
-
I am happy to say that I am posting from work. Yeah!!! I am alive and well again..well close enough
-
Tonight I shall be going to a 2 hour class on Short films and tomorrow evening will be attending the first Siouxland Film Festival. All original short films. Sounds entertaining and you know what they say about short films.....if you don't like it, it will be over soon
-
In two weeks they are having the Second Annual Silent Film Festival. This year it will be DON JUAN, PETER PAN and THE GENERAL complete with the Wurlitzer Organ. Should be fun
-
I have many movies to go to to catch up from being sick. THE PRODUCERS is finally here. I still haven't made it to KING KONG. MUNICH is here....hmmm can I pack the basement and all the books in the house (my weekend goal) and still see several movies?
-
I better get to work. There is much to be done before my 3 day weekend!
-
I have an excuse for not posting on Tuesday. I have to report for Jury Duty! I come home from the long weekend and I must report downtown to the New York State Court System in Manhattan.
-
DR George, I proposed that we swap W&G coastal broadcasts yesterday morning, but you never responded (it was either on page one or two). Yes, I would like the West Coast version of the show. I will dub you an East Coast version at some point today and try to get it in the mail tomorrow.
I must have missed it! Yes, I'll be more than happy to send you the West Coast broadcast of "W&G" for the East Coast broadcast. Thanks!
-
Very Happy Birthday Wishes to DR TPunk!! ;D
-
And that, Missy, is because you want to divide Israel ;D
And probably because you're a lesbian too ;)
Of course I am, and I hate freedom too.
Isn't this the way it goes: If you don't support the president, and the inclusion of church and state, then you must hate freedom and God too. And of course that means my soul is damned.
-

I saw a movie about you last night - called The Devil's Messenger. Your name was Satanya and you delivered - you guessed it - the Devil's message. :P
-
TPunk said:
"And of course that means my soul is damned."
And to find that out on your birthday. How sad.
-
JRand, I think Clive Owen had left the play, CLOSER, by the time I saw it. But I did see him onstage in A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG and he was very good in it.
-
TPunk :) :) :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY! :D
-
Ginny I just missed you last night. Oh, I should have watched ice skating. It seems I rarely have time for it anymore. If only Keith enjoyed watching with me.
DakotaCelt I like your avatar. :)
Ben, oh high tea :D Love the photos, keep them coming.
-

Oh sorry, I misunderstood....hmmm... I have only read about JOE EGG, but it sounds like an intriguing play.
Anything new in the new neighborhood theater wise for you, DRCP?
-
Praying for Rosemary’s baby.
We haven’t watched CRUMBS yet, still have a few shows to catch up on. We did watch a superb episode of CRIMINAL MINDS.
-
What have you done to his eyes? What's wrong with his eyes?!!
Oh, he has his father's eyes......
-
I now have Debbie Gravitte's "Defying Gravity" CD to add to my play list. I love it when the post arrives.
DRJose, nobody blames Nurse Jane for anything and lives. I totally blame you for it and the fact my important letter to you hasn't arrived!
TPunk, what time tonight at La cocina? Are we on for "the movie" this weekend?
That's all, folks!
-
Good Afternoon!
Well... I decided to go ahead and take care of the rest of my laundry, as well as get some cleaning done... Then I noticed that there were a few important software updates for my iBook, so I took care of those too... yadda-yadda-yadda...
Now to head to Macy's - I think. Jojo needs a new outfit for Monday night's gathering at Barrymore's.
;)
Laters...
-
Not quite empty... yet. Check in with me again Sunday night.
;)
-And, remember, I blame Jane.
;D
LOL and didn't Jane send enough for you to share at the theater?
I blame Jose for my klutziness last night. I must have been going through almond macaroon and marzipan withdrawal.
My klutziness consisted of cutting my finger, bashing my foot, and worst of all dropping the hot pot lid on the new cook-top and scratching it. Keith wasn’t happy with me-the little scratch is going to bug him to no end, especially since he is always cleaning the cook-top. To top it off the wild rice I was cooking didn’t come out as good as usual-how inconsiderate after all I suffered for it.
-
elmore you are so cute-ROTFLOL.
-
Don't forget to get a hat, DRJOSE. I think you would look supersharp in a jaunty beret!
-

DRJANE surely there is a remedy for the scratched cooktop....what kind of material is it?
-
I am sure you can enlighten us also in many tales of wayward books. For some odd reasons graduate students where I work like dogs... Books and dogs do not mix!
Sometimes the dog, and cat stories are true. They sure were in our house. ;D-honest. My poor boys.
-
Welcome to all our newbies!!
I think you might be confusing our newbies, unless I'm the only dense one around here ;D
-
Do any of you musical (or indeed non-musical) types know where I might be able to gain access to an Akai 1212 Recording Console? This was the proprietary system Akai had out in the 90s that used Betamax audio. I did some sessions on one and want to transfer the tapes over to ProTools or something similar.
-
JRand I think those cooktops are some kind of glass. I will check. Unfortunately they do scratch. I also have some weird stain in our barely used convection/mircrowave I will have to check into. At least that is on the inside and doesn't show.
-
I'm off to a meeting then off to Penn Station for the train to LI so I won't be saying much more probably until Sunday night or Monday when we are back in the city.
-
Oh....
-
Good afternoon!
We had a nice spring shower (in January) this afternoon, but it's still very mild outside. The temps haven't started dropping yet.
-
I have to admit I burst out laughing when I saw our "new DR) Rexella.
Welcome (back) RexellaMom.
-
The happiest of birthdays to DR TPunk! Wish we could join you tonight for a margarita... or three...
-
I have had a full afternoon of TV.
First up was WILL & GRACE which I found a deadly bore for the first half and very funny once the slapstick antics started. I was in the mood to laugh, and the second part of the show made me laugh, so overall, I'd say it was about on par with W&G's season average for me: some good and some bad.
-
TOD:
CD: Two vols. of Yiddish theatre songs from the Milken Archive
DVD: Too many choices
VCR: Take it, Jed!
Well, there is a decided lack of "le porn bon marché" around here, but if I were to take it, what on earth would you do with the rest of your weekend?
-
Page 7 Lucy Dough Dance!!!
-
Next up was FOUR KINGS which was not in the least funny. Seth Green is the only one of the four leads with an ounce of comic timing, but smearing make-up on his face and putting curlers in his hair (and he's not supposed to notice) is about as desperate (and unsuccessful) a ploy for laughs as I've seen in quite a while.
-
I now have Debbie Gravitte's "Defying Gravity" CD to add to my play list.
Hi Elmore, 7:30 tonight at La Cocina. And I would love to see the movie this weekend- we can make plans tonight.
-
Back from recording the pre-show announcement, doing an errand or three, and now I shall relax for a bit, and then I must go buy some wrapping paper to wrap some opening night gifts.
-
Here is a photo from my birthday celebration at GMHC earlier today. They had a plate of cookies with a candle and a card.
-
MY NAME IS EARL had an OK episode with Jon Faverau as the guest star, and it had a few chuckles. What made me really laugh, however, is Earl's brother Randy, a simple soul afraid of his own shadow who goes running to Earl for protection from girls, ghosts, etc. He's become my favorite character on the show even though Earl's white trash wife Joy (Jaime Pressly) has been getting all of the press lately.
-
And now I must rush off to get ready. I have a mandatory intern meeting to attend at 5:30 before the evening festivities begin.
-
Thanks again for all of the lovely birthday wishes!
-
Best wishes for a fabu performance tonight BK!
-
THE OFFICE once again emerged as my favorite comedy of the night. Michael had stepped on a George Foreman grill and burned his foot, so he played invalid while the rest of the office went out of its way not to cater to his whining and pitiful requests. Added to this was assistant manager Dwight getting a concussion (a real injury which made Michael jealous at the attention he was getting) and it was a very funny half hour.
-
ABC, the network of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, had another desperate program on last night called CRUMBS. A blatant attempt to capture the slightly lunatic world of Fox's ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, the show failed in almost every way. The characters were unlikable (and terrific actors playing them, a crying shame), the jokes were unfunny, and the whole enterprise floundering around looking for a premise. Again, it's got two more chances to hook me, but at this point, I'm not encouraged.
-
Then, I put in another episode of CSI: MIAMI, the episode which introduced Jonathan Togo as patrolman Ryan Wolf who joined the lab in the season's third episode. As he's become my favorite character on the show (though I like all of them actually), I always enjoy watching his introduction to the show and his first case which he slam dunks in most impressive fashion.
-
Great pic, DRTPUNK!!
-
ARRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH -
SprocketHost is giving up the Ghost, and I have to move my whole WEBSITE to a new (and unnamed as yet) host. I don't know where to start!
-
I just read in VARIETY that the results show tonight for DANCING WITH THE STARS will be expanded to an hour (preempting HOPE & FAITH) in order to provide a stronger lead-in for IN JUSTICE.
The article said this was just a one week experiment to see if it helps IN JUSTICE in the ratings. (And it's already doing OK in the ratings; this may give it an added boost).
-
In more ominous news, EMILY'S REASONS WHY NOT and JAKE IN PROGRESS have been pulled from the Monday schedule next week, and a rerun of the season premiere of THE BACHELOR will air in that hour instead.
ABC saw the weak ratings from last week's show and then realized that the second episodes were going to air opposite new episodes of the CBS comedies and the Golden Globes on NBC and the last hour of '24's season premiere on Fox. So, for damage control, they're postponing the second episodes for a week hoping for less competition from the competing networks.
-
Happy Birthday wishes to young lady DR TPunk!

That's it!
Title of my next book: Le Porn Bon Marché!

DANCING WITH THE STARS is doing very, very well this season. Both this season's shows have attracted over 17 million viewers, far and away the best ratings ABC has enjoyed in that time period in quite some time.
I'll be curious to see what will happen when that other reality behemoth SURVIVOR returns to the 8 p.m. spot. Sure, more than one hit show can air in the same time slot and do very well, but two reality hits facing off should be interesting in the ratings.
-
Well, I started mopping the kitchen floor earlier in the afternoon, and now I'll give it a second mopping.

JRand55, did your package arrive yet? The USPS must be quite slow these days.
Have fun a La Cocina tonight! I am envious...I wish I could be there to drink a martini with the birthday girl and friends!
-
The furnace man came and went and now I have some options for heating my home. I don't, however, have the price estimates yet. That will come about next week.
-
I think I will finish watching CARAVAN and maybe even take a nap with my pussy (a Mrs. Slocum reference).
-
Next stupid question department: Does anyone know how to get Windows Media Player to display the playback levels, a la a graphic equalizer? I've found the equalizer, where you can adjust levels, but yesterday I stumbled upon a way to get the levels themselves to display and now for the life of me I can't find it again. ???
-
Almost forgot the topic o' the day:
Media check:
CD: Pedro Vargas - LO MEJORE DE LO MEJOR
DVD: It is Asian week at my house! Some Hong Kong, Japanese, and of coure Indian films
VCR: Nuttin'
-
Well only 24 1/2 laters and my "simple"residential closing transaction is finally done!
::)
I had to finish the details at an attorney's office near my home, so I just went home afterwards, since I put in 14 hour day without meals yesterday. :P
I picked up the Vixter at 3 as she was getting off the bus, took a visit to the Good Will to deliver some more goodies and then went to our favorite pizzaria/Italian restaurant that is next door to GW. They were out of gas so their ovens and stoves weren't working so no meal there! :'(
So we drove down the road to the Chili's and had a lovely little meal there. I had the trio, ribs, shrimp and chicken with loaded mashed potatoes and cinnamon apples
Good thing I decided to put off my diet until AFTER the holidays.... (of course I didn't say WHICH holidays)

We watched "Cash Cab" on tv last night while the rest of you were watching skating, Will & Grace, and dancing.
Five years of college, and DR Sandra can answer most trivia questions. That may be where she earns her fortune.
-
Of course Mala Sinha is not in the Bollywood movie that I am currently watching. Asha Parekh is the female lead in this one...so lets let her (and Shammi Kapoor) dance page 8.

Hope that's what you were looking for!

JMK Keith found the answer for you. I will post it in a minute.

I seemed to have caught a cold in the past several hours. I can't stop sneezing.. Alka Seltzer time

To adjust graphic equalizer levels
Click Now Playing.
On the View menu, point to Enhancements, and then click Graphic Equalizer.
In the Enhancements pane, click the Turn on link, if visible.
Do one of the following:
Select a preset equalizer setting, such as Default, Rock, or Jazz, from the Select preset list.
Move the equalizer sliders to the levels that you want to use. The levels that you set are saved automatically to the Custom preset.
-
Yes, here at HHW, you can get the answer to ANY question....and if we don't know it....ask DRSANDRA. Life can be beautiful!
DRLAURA - I hope she is signing up for JEOPARDY!!

No package from Orygun yet, DRMBARNUM. It will probably come tomorrow while I am working.
My kurta SHOULD be here as well....it has been 13 days, I emailed them today to find out the deal.

Cillaliz, nice to see you worked today and are feeling better.
Rexella, rest, drink fluids and be well.

Re: CRUMBS. I found I liked the show and the characters better after watching the show than I had expected to, based just on the previews. There wasn't much to laugh at in this episode that had not been previously revealed, but there were a couple of quiet moments that caught me by surprise.
I have always thought that Ben Savage was a more natural actor than his older brother, but I thought Fred was fairly controlled in this first episode. His scenes with the girl who had been his friend, as well as his beard, in high school were some of the best moments in the show. William Devane and Jane Curtain seemed to be competing for the title of quirkiest second banana, and Eddie McClintock was stuck in the thankless role of oversexed himbo brother, Jody.
Since few television comedies gel in the first couple of episodes, I am willing to give CRUMBS a few weeks to find its grove. Hopefully, ABC will do the same.
-
Do we have Paraskevidekatriaphobics here?
-
Have a great day with the boys, DRs SWW & derBRUCER!
Have a great night with the boys TPunk!
-
Book of Daniel at 10 tonight... what is left for them to do after the first episode? More of the same I reckon.....
-
Fridays child is loving and giving. That certainly describes DR TPunk.
I couldn’t find anything on Friday the 13th’s child.
-
JMK I was sharing your "kid" stories with a co worker today. She laughed out loud at the French one and after the allowance one said "I like how they think!"

Porn Assignment Canceled After Parents Complain
AP
BROOKLYN, Ohio (Jan. 13) - A high school assignment to research and write about Internet pornography was canceled after parents complained, the school's superintendent said.
The 14- and 15-year-old students at Brooklyn High School, outside of Cleveland, Ohio, were asked to research pornography on the Internet and list eight facts about it. They were also asked to write about their personal view toward the subject and their experience with it.
Superintendent Jeff Lampert said that although the teacher's goal to discuss the harmful effects of pornography was well-intentioned, he agreed with parents that the assignment was inappropriate for students.
Lampert said he doubted the teacher would face punishment.

I can hear it now. “So when did your addiction to porn begin?” “While I was researching a high school class assignment”.
What was the teacher thinking! I’m sure those students’ parents want to know.

Hope that's what you were looking for!
No, that's the equalizer itself, that I mentioned I was able to find. There's actually a way to have it display the levels at various MHz. I now think it's one of the visualizations. like "Bars and Waves."

Official Topic of the Day:
In my DVD player: three movies from Netflix that I've had for a couple of weeks, but I just haven't watched yet. Hopefully soon. ;)
In my VCR: a tape to tape tonight's shows: "Ghost Whisperer" on CBS at 8:00, "In Justice" on ABC at 9:00, then "20/20," "The Book of Daniel" AND "Battlestar Galactica" all at 10:00, as well as "A Star Is Born" with Judy, which I might tape, because I don't have the DVD, but I do have the first version on a "remastered" $1 DVD.
In my CD player: the 2005 Original London cast recording of "Simply Heavenly (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007QN8MO/qid=1137199787/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/002-7701208-5864855?n=5174)." I got this some time ago, but never listened to all of it. Shortly after I bought this CD, I got the original cast (vinyl) album (http://www.castalbumdb.com/rec.cfm?RNumber=1058) on eBay, but haven't listened to that at all. ::)
Yesterday, I received from amazon.com, the original cast recording to Blitz (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009HLBIY/002-7701208-5864855?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174) by Lionel Bart and Jason Robert Brown's CD, "Wearing Someone Else's Clothes (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009S2TG6/002-7701208-5864855?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174)." I was going to listen to these today, but I forgot to bring them to work. Ooops! I'm coming in to work tomorrow, so maybe I'll listen then.
-
I shall now shower, and then I shall be on my way to the theater for our opening night. Pray for Rosemary's Baby, baby.
-
Ginny I just missed you last night. Oh, I should have watched ice skating. It seems I rarely have time for it anymore. If only Keith enjoyed watching with me.
DakotaCelt I like your avatar. :)
Ben, oh high tea :D Love the photos, keep them coming.
Thank you Jane!!
Wolves are one of my favorite animals along with horses and dogs.
-
If I wasn't so sure you'd sell out before I could get there (if it hasn't already), I'd make the 45 minute drive down and come see it again tonight! Well, except that it's not always easy to snag a babysitter for 3 kids last minute! ;D
Your legs ought to be broken in a million pieces by now with all the well wishes, but I just wanted to offer them out there one more time. Tell Matt his fans are rooting for him (and Tammy and Greg too, of course).
Stephanie

Jane, I think you need to take a picture of "your" FedEx man! Or has MBarnum already posted one? I don't remember.
Now you say something. I could have taken my camera out with me.
-
DakotaCelt. Do you have any dogs or horses?
-
Stephanie I’m trying to place the areas that might be 45 minutes from the theater. Considering LA traffic I have given up. What area are you in?
-
No, that's the equalizer itself, that I mentioned I was able to find. There's actually a way to have it display the levels at various MHz. I now think it's one of the visualizations. like "Bars and Waves."
Well, I clearly need to read more carefully next time! :D I think you're right that it's one of the visualizations.
-
HJBJDJ those bears are darling.
Thanks Jane. I thought they were cute too.
gotta love google.
-
I'd glady go to the play too, if I weren't 3,000 miles away. :'(
-
DakotaCelt. Do you have any dogs or horses?
I used to but I live where pets are not permitted. I used to have partial ownership in a horse but he had to be put down a couple of years ago due age and pnuemonia. Jack (the horse) was 22 years old and that is old for a Quarter HOrse.
-
I'd glady go to the play too, if I weren't 3,000 miles away. :'(
Same here and I am 1600 miles away!!

Google is how I found this site. :)

Jane,
Google is also how Eileen, another poster on the Connotator, found it. We just sort of drifted in from there...

So glad you did. Tell Eileen to come join us. Is she lurking?
-
Not sure. I know many of us over at the Conn have read BK's insights about the play, casting, etc, etc.
I will have to see if the local library has any of Bk's books.
Interestingly, I have been a fan of Matt's since the 80s. SFT was the first soap to be CCed and the first scene I saw that way had Matt's character, Cagney, having a heated discuassion with David Forsyth's character, Hogan. He had a presence that was beyond the words on teh screen..
-
Stephanie I’m trying to place the areas that might be 45 minutes from the theater. Considering LA traffic I have given up. What area are you in?
Palmdale. I made it there in 45 minutes on Tuesday, but I must admit, I have a bit of a lead foot. ;D

How much over the speed limit STephanie?? :-)

How much over the speed limit STephanie?? :-)
Well, let's put it this way. If you do less than 80 on the 14 freeway, you'll get passed by old ladies in cadillacs, giving you the finger! :D

You have got to be kidding!!! YOu do 80 in ND and they take your license away.. Besides u dont want to do 80 on ice around here!
-
Well, I shall now be on my way to the El Portal. Pray for Rosemary's Baby, baby.
-
When Keith (my husband) and I were in high school he would take me on long drives (from West LA) to the sparsely populated Palmdale. It was a real treat for me.
-
Break a leg!!
Break a leg to the entire cast!
-
Bruce have a great show and a good time tonight.

Well, I wouldn't call it sparsely populated anymore. LOL. I never thought I'd like it here, it was always so "desert-y", but it was the only place my husband and I could afford to buy a house. Now I love it, and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. There's not near the traffic of the Valley (I grew up in the Granada Hills/Northridge area), and there's a real feeling of family and community out here. Luckily I work from home, so I don't have the horrible commute that many do.

I like being on the edge of the rural areas also. There is just something nice about it...
Sounds like a nice area Stephanie!
-
Stephanie it has been a long time since we were in Palmdale. It seemed nice and you are lucky indeed to avoid the traffic out there.
We now live outside the small town of Ashland, Oregon just over the California border.

Ooh, I love Oregon. My grandpa lives in Bend, and I try to get up there as often as possible, which sadly hasn't been for a couple of years now. My husband and I tried driving up there in January of 04, but got snowed out. LOL.

I wish I was or I would have one. The landlord rather frowns on dogs....
Oregon, I have rellies in the Portland and Salem area.
-
Watch out, Jack and Rexella department: My "Priority Minister Parking," "Ministerial Window Cling" (I kid you not) and various other accoutrements of my new Father-ly status arrived today. I am still waiting for my wall certificate and wallet-sized laminated certificate. Please, remember to treat me with the respect my new divine status requires. ;D

Do any of them ministerial services? ;D
In all seriousness (or at least some seriousness), a disproportionately large number of HHW-ers are NWers, including several in Oregon: Jane, Keith, me (Portland), MBarnum (Salem)--am I forgetting anyone? And then there's the Washington contingent, but we try not to encourage them too much. ;D
-
JRand I still don’t know how to get the scratch out of the cook-top but we did get the discoloration out of the microwave/convection oven with our Miracle cloth.
When we installed the new cook-top we were forced to install a chrome exhaust fan behind it. When we remember to use it, we just push a button and it rises up out of the counter top. The chrome was scratched during installation so I called the manufacturer and they sent us a polishing cloth to remove the scratch. I worked great
This stuff is great. It is called Miracle all purpose polishing cloth. It removes buff marks, scratches etc. from just about anything (so it says).

It's the Shroud of Turin. It's a microwave discoloration remover. It's two, two, two miracle cloths in one. ;D

I can hear it now. “So when did your addiction to porn begin?” “While I was researching a high school class assignment”.
Worked for me! And my VCR thanks you.

I had a similar reaction but took it in stride there was an earlier one today that rubbed me the wrong way also but I just will carry on.... Maybe it is my world view and how I looked at but that is life... WE all look out of different glasses.
-
Bend and Portland (our oldest son lives there) are nice. I haven’t been to Salem.
In December of ’03 we tried to drive to a wedding in California and couldn’t get there thanks to a huge snowstorm. This month we had planned to visit Keith’s mother in LA and had a huge rain storm.
Stephanie if you do drive this stop and visit.
DakotaCelt I'm sorry you can't have dogs.
-
Just heard a song on WMKV that Guy Haines could have a lot of fun with on his next album, "Momma, I Want to Make Rhythm".
-
So, I'm back from the TPunk festivities. When I left, the orgy was in full swing, and our DR TPunk has many wonderful and fascinating friends. I had a lovely burrito, some chips and spicy salsa, and two delish margaritas. A good time was had by all. And now I'm home. And drunk.

I like your response, "WE all look out of different glasses". Feel free to ask if you are missing a joke here. Some on this site have very strange sense of humors ::)
In this case George reacted as he did since he is one of the Washington contingent ;D.

There are a couple but most are male lawyers.... Several work as seismologists and vulcanologists...

A TCB reply. Where is he anyway, speaking of the Washington gang.
-
George you forgot PennyO even if she has hardly been there this past year or so.
-
Well, it's 7:00 (on the left coast) and my building is closing early. I must be going. But I'll be back in a little while (a Once Upon a Matress reference) when I get home. As Jose says (and is often quoted): Laters!
;D
-
George you forgot PennyO even if she has hardly been there this past year or so.
Ooops! My bad! She moves around a lot. I don't think I knew her real "home base." ;)

What is your Rabbi’s reaction to this? ???
-
LOL George. How do you think I knew who you fogot?
-
I have been to Seattle and Vancouver (BC) before. Love 'em!! Great places...
Other places I have been are Winnepeg, MB and Boston, MA..
-
Boston is a great city. For two years we lived outside the city in the small town of Acton. For a special treat we would take the train into the city and go to the Children's Museum.
-
This evening a strange voice emanating from Keith’s computer game is yelling “Die, die, burn, burn”. ;D We certainly have different ways of entertaining ourselves after dinner.
-
TCB and Ann have arrived :)

Time to go watch our DVD of MONARCH OF THE GLEN
'night

Have never seen that movie...
I just watched In America the other day...
Listening to 20/20. Rather disturbing but I am not surprised by the report.

LOL George. How do you think I knew who you fogot?
Jane, I think you fogot something too! ;) :-*

Very disappointed in the team that went home on DANCING WITH THE STARS tonight.
And I will say that the older he gets - the more George Hamilton is looking like Richard Nixon.
-
DR JMK - isn't that kit marvelous? Ministry in a box!

Gee, I was going to comment on that too! Cheeky Jane! ;)

True....
I want to say something in French and it has been many years since I have spoken in French. Please forgive me if I make a mistake....

Love Wolves. They are beautiful creatures... Up in Northern MN, near Ely MN, they have a wolf research center and you can howl. It is really eerie when they respond back.
I see a couple of hockey fans here....

I is a small world indeed. My rellies surnames are Schotthoefer, Berthold, adn Allmaras. Some live in the Stayton and Portland areas

Enjoyed more CSI: MIAMI episodes from the DVD. They look good on DVD, but that extra degree of oomph that you get from high definition is, of course, missing from the DVD versions.
Anthony Quinn's son was a guest star on one of the episodes I watched.
-
Enjoyed IN JUSTICE, but I missed the last ten minutes so if someone who watched it can provide a spoiler and tell me who the guilty party was, I'd be grateful.
I'm guessing it was Wade who did it.
-
I think this is my 1100th post, and I just missed getting it on page 11. :(

I'm sure you've heard of musician Hélène Grimaud's passion for wolfs?

THE BOOK OF DANIEL had an entertaining hour. I'm liking (or enjoying is probably a better word) the characters more and more, and the plots didn't seem to be flying all over the map tonight. Much easier to keep them all straight in this episode. They even cut back on the Jesus scenes, and Ellen Burstyn was barely in the show tonight.
-
I think this is my 1100th post, and I just missed getting it on page 11. :(
We're sorry!

Oh, Joy, Oh, Rapture (no, not that kind--step away from the Bible, Rexella). I have just completed the world's longest customer service phone order which has gotten us:
DSL with MSN Premium
Direct TV with a high def box (are you listening, MattH?)
Two new cell phones with our old numbers, but with more minutes
Unlimited long distance on our land line
And, with this handy-dandy bundling feature Qwest is offering, we're actually paying less than we pay now for our landline, cells and AOL (with no DSL or DirectTV)!!! Plus, I'm getting the high def tuner free from Direct TV. I can't believe it.
Step away from the Bible, Rexella.
-
Do we have Paraskevidekatriaphobics here?
They're the people who shouldn't drink diet soda, right?
-
Do you have any idea how I am literally foaming at the mouth in anticipation of calling AOL to cancel? I can finally tell them exactly what I've thought of them all these years. Plus, I'm a stockholder (I bought long before Time Warner and AOL merged, so don't blame me), so I can really go postal on them!
-
Paraskevidekatriaphobics
We must write this in a letter to Rexella, then sit back, wait and watch. ;D
-
I'm sure you've heard of musician Hélène Grimaud's passion for wolfs?
http://www.andante.com/images/Articles/GrimaudVariationsSauvages18.jpg
I got to hear her speak when she did a presentation in Ely, MN at hte wolf center there. Fascinating woman.
-
It has taken 1 hour and 15 minutes to play 4 minutes of regulation and 3 five minute overtimes of a basketball game.
-
DR JMK, I hope you will share with us your high def experience once it's all hooked up and functioning.
Don't forget to watch CSI: MIAMI, in my opinion the best looking high definition network series currently airing.
Be sure you're watching the high definition channels and not their analog counterparts. The fellow that I calibrated his TV last weekend couldn't understand why high definition looked so crappy until I showed him that the high definition versions of the network channels were much farther down the cable lineup and that what he had been watching were the standarad analog channels. He didn't even know those separate high definition channels were there. (For example, NBC regular is Channel 6 on cable; the NBC-HD is Channel 220.)

More an Eric Lindros fan than a HOCKEY fan .... but I like the game!
-
Now, since I barely got 6 hours of sleep last night, I'm heading downstairs to bed.
Good evening, everyone!
-
Time for to go to bed.

Welcome to the 21st Century, Reverend MagicFingers.

Good Evening!
What a loverly number of posts to come home to post-show!
-A perfect Opening Night "gift" for BK, methinks.
:)

So...
Which number margarita do you think DR TPunk is having right now?
;D

More an Eric Lindros fan than a HOCKEY fan .... but I like the game!
I love the sport... I grew up with hockey

And an interesting show tonight...
One of our actors "called in sick" right after he got to the theatre tonight. Apparently, he had some bad food earlier in the day, and by half-hour he was not feeling well, so... Better safe, than sorry. -Or as our wonderful stage manager so colorfully put it, "Hmm... Food poisoning and a baseball musical... No way... Too slippery."
*Thankfully, our handy-dandy "Super Swing", Sean, came through with flying colors.
;)
...And then we received word that somebody's car was being towed away in the auxiliary lot... Turned out to belong to our Trumpet 2 player... Thankfully, someone from the theatre ran out there and got the problem straightened out before the car got hooked up to the tow truck.
...And then due to the incoming rain, the temp and moisture level in the theatre changed drastically about half way through the first act. Consequently, the string tuning got really "iffy". We ended up tuning again at the end of the first act - right at the top of the intermission - and once again right at the end of the end the intermission just to be safe and sure.
...And then on the way out of the theatre tonight, there was a sign saying that someone was mugged tonight on 6th Street - basically right down the block from the theatre, so...
:-\
-
Welcome to the 21st Century, Reverend MagicFingers.
Bless you, my son...er, Father.....er, Brother.....er
Oh the hell with it.
-
Wow! Page 13! Is it DECEIT's opening? The full moon? The weird weather? Rexella?
-
Before the show, I went ahead and indulged in some retail therapy. I'm not sure I really found a complete outfit for Monday night's gathering in NYC, but I did manage to walk out of Old Navy with 12 pieces of clothing for just $49.90 plus tax! Not bad at all.
I would have walked out with more, but, thankfully, I stuck to my rule about trying everything on before buying it... And I'm glad I did. I realized they had changed the cut a little bit on their t-shirts, and some of the colors were a bit non-complementary... I did not let the temptation of the "sale" get to me.
However, I did get some great deals. I got a flannel pullover for just $1.48! And I also found some great workout clothes - I've been needing some long-sleeve, cold-weather wear - including two light-weight thermal jackets for just $4.86 each - down from $24.95! *And one of them was not marked with the sale stickers, but since I saw one in one color... I was so glad I asked at the counter, "Is this on sale too?"
Gotta love that "disposable clothing".
;)
-
OH!...
And it's MAL this weekend in DC. -Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend. Lions and Tigers and Bears and Bears and Bears and Cubs and Cubs... Oh my, oh my, oh my!
;)
*If you're not sure what MAL is, well... Google at your own risk... Or enjoyment.
;D
So... I'm sitting in La Madeleine having my dinner - the roast pork loin with rice pilaf and green beans almondine - and I'm reading a copy of The Washington Blade - one of the DC "special interest" newspapers... I was shopping at Border's next door, and had grabbed a copy there.
This man comes up to my table, grabs a couple of napkins and starts writing down something. Hmm... I'm thinking he's just trying to write down some phone message or random thought like that - he looked sort of in a hurry... Well... He hands me the napkin...
"Are you going to the big MAL event this weekend?"
OOHHH!!!!!
I look at him slightly confused... -Did he not want to say that out loud?... I say, "No, I'm working, so..." -Oh, he's deaf. So... He grabs another napkin...
"You could come hang out and meet hundreds of hot looking and handsome men."
I just smile and giggle while he goes to get his food...
Then he comes back... another napkin...
"At the Washington Plaza Hotel."
I sign "Thank You"... -The Washington Plaza Hotel is basically the HQ for the event.
And then on another corner of the napkin...
"Are you done with the Blade?"
Yes, I am... And I give it to him.
-Very funny and cute meeting. And it totally made my evening.
:)
-
I feel out of place here being located in the Buffalo commons.

Wow! Page 13! Is it DECEIT's opening? The full moon? The weird weather? Rexella?
My money is on Rexella.
;)
-
Hey you Hainsies and Kimlets in NYC...
I was just checking the weather forecast for this weekend since I'm probably driving up Sunday night after the show...
Snow?!?!?
-It only says about an inch, but still... Snow?
-
Don't get me wrong, I actually like snow, but I had not heard anything about the possibility of some frozen precip until just now.
-
My money is on Rexella.
;)
And the funny thing is, she kind of likes it being there. :o
-
Do you have any idea how I am literally foaming at the mouth in anticipation of calling AOL to cancel?
Or you could do what happened at our house: Dear Son (DS in internet lingo) sent a mailbomb (whatever that is) and they cancelled ME for LIFE. Yes, I am banned from AOL for life.
-
There was great fun to be had at La Cocina tonight.
-
TPunk, did you have a birthday cake? Didja? Didja????
-
However, they no longer have the 2 for 1 drink special. Which is strange because I specifically asked about it last week when I made the reservation. So, as a consolation, they gave the table a free round on the house.
-
Local weather report: 86 days with no rain.
-
TPunk, did you have a birthday cake? Didja? Didja????
No cake, but A LOT of margaritas.
-
I am a bit tipsy.
-
I am trying to get Rodzinski to post some photos.
-
Or you could do what happened at our house: Dear Son (DS in internet lingo) sent a mailbomb (whatever that is) and they cancelled ME for LIFE. Yes, I am banned from AOL for life.
I would consider that a compliment.
-
So, I answered the phone at the church office today, and a woman said:
"No, it was the other one -- the other brother -- the one from the Temptations. That was the one."
And then she hung up.
I have no idea what that means.
-
Well, TPunk, did you take a picture of the margaritas?
-
Wait a second, when did that happen. I have achieved God status!!!!!!!
-
Woo Hoo! Congratulations, TPunk, on becoming a GOD on your birthday.
I did the same thing.
-
Wow! Page 13! Is it DECEIT's opening? The full moon? The weird weather? Rexella?
Well it is friday the 13th... But I think it is a little of everything.
-
Well, TPunk, did you take a picture of the margaritas?
Rodzinski says we must wait until the morning.
-
Thank you DakotaCelt, it is from my role as Buffalo Bill in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.
That is one of my favorite musicals... Did you work with REba McIntyre?

Yes, but unfortunately Reba never knew about it. :o

I take it LaCocina is a mextex restaurant near you...

No, sadly I didn't get to work with Reba and Brent. This was a local production in Washington State.
-
Wait a second, when did that happen. I have achieved God status!!!!!!!
I just reached Jr. Status

Our local weather report: 26 days with rain. Should it continue (which it should), next friday we set a new all-time record of days with rain.

Here is one with TPunk and her buddies. Oddly, my mom bought TPunk that blouse for Christmas. I think it was to be worn beneath a sweater or something. Not that I'm complaining!

Nope... Still not feeling anything.
;D

I Love Accordions, incidentally, is by the Bell Accordion Symphony, "a popular accordion orchestra which is in great demand for concert and TV appearances. Although this amazing group consists of 21 boys and girls whose average age is 12 years, they perform with a virtuosity equalled by few, if any, other musical groups."
-
Well Jose, I did all I could!

In the state (NY!) she's now, I'm sure she'd be happy to know... anything! :D

Hmmm...
I'm wondering if DR DakotaCelt set a record for achieving Jr. Member status so fast?
:)

Yes! It's all about voltage! :D ;)

Or you could do what happened at our house: Dear Son (DS in internet lingo) sent a mailbomb (whatever that is) and they cancelled ME for LIFE. Yes, I am banned from AOL for life.
All you have to do is register again with a different credit card....that is if you would ever want to go back, not sure why you would
-

I don't think so, unless she also goes by the name Bethany.
-
I got kicked off AOL because I told the real identity of a total jerk on the Court TV discussion boards. They said if I apologized I could get back on. Instead, I got out a different credit card and went right back on, they did nothing about that.
I used to like AOL, but had a lot of problems, so I left.
-

They threatened me but good if I tried to reregister with another card. They would find out and they would cancel me on the spot.
This happened in 1998, the day after our free month trial ended.
-
So...
Which number margarita do you think DR TPunk is having right now?
;D
At this point in the evening, I think number 5.

TPunk, looks like a very fun time. Too bad La Cocina doesn't have the specials anymore. I had a wonderful time there last fall.
-
Yes! It's all about voltage! :D ;)
ITA Francois, I can see it all the way over here

Tonight I went to a class about Short films that was intended to get us in the right frame of mind to see the first Siouxland Short Film Festival tomorrow night. It was really pretty interesting. Everything from some of the very first films, to Chaplin's Easy Street to ...I can't remember the name of it...it was a Salvador Dali thing that started with cutting a woman's eye with a razor blade...to the wonderful German film Black Rider to the Sling Blade short.
It was put on by a second year film student at Columbia who is home for Christmas so he decided to start a film festival. Tomorrow night the finals will include 10 local submissions and 5 grad student submissions. Should be fun
-
BK will be most surprised to come home to this many posts! The home fries are burning brightly

I'm back from opening night. It was a fun night - strange audience and strange show, but more about that later. For now, I must unwind - may I just say that I think this day entered the top five posting days - I have to check, but I'd be surprised if it hadn't.

I actually took accordion lessons when I was about seven or eight years old. I think my parents sold my accordion in a garage sale 15 or so years ago. Anyway, about eight or ten years ago, I played Jacquot in a local production of Carnival and at the top of the show, played the melody line of "Love Makes the World Go Round" on a borrowed, beautiful mother-of-pearl accordion.
Just had to share. :)
-
Wow! Page 13! Is it DECEIT's opening? The full moon? The weird weather? Rexella?
New posters help, too! ;D

I dont play the accordion. I associate that with Lawrence Welk and Myron Floren...
I do play the tinwhistle and the bodhran.

Some of us had quite the chit chat tonight with Jane....
-
There is also a live chat page, but we haven't done that in quite a while.
-
that would be cool sometime.... Perhaps BK coudl invite the cast of Deceit to chat also?
-
Can't wait to hear all about "Deceit" and all the festivities!

488 posts is the fifth highest day...we have to reach 489 to beat it.

I am anxiously awaiting also....
I enjoy plays and good dramatic presentations. Always have. I am a diehard Shakespeare fan.

I'm not particularly interested in Shakespeare, but I have seen several productions that I've thoroughly enjoyed.
One of my favorite musical adaptations is one that was written and performed here in Olympia, WA called A Rock 'n' Roll Twelfth Night (http://rr12n.org) (with apologies to William Shakespeare). I highly recommend checking it out. They have clips from their recording!

I realize... I have gotten into some interesting discussion on the state of very genres on the telly and what is going on in our culture both positive and negative aspects of it. More or less the good, the bad and the ugly.
-
When I was in college (Western Washington University, Bellingham, class of 1989), they did a very good production of "Macbeth." The only problem was the guy who playing Macduff sounded and acted exactly like John Wayne! I can't believe the director let him. I don't know if the actor sounded and acted like John Wayne in real life (I didn't know him), but it was a total distraction.

Interesting site. .... It is a curious interpretation. I have booked for future study.. I did see a production of A Midsummer's Night Dream taht had a very Minnesota touch. It was great what they did with it. As much as Shakespearean drama is steeped in tradition, its message lends to the modernity we live in.
I also enjoy Richard Sheridan Brinsley. Love Oklahoma, Grease, Cole Porter musicals. I also enjoy the Gilbert and Sullivan operattas.
I do have a bone to pick with Bizet and it is Matt Ashford's fault <G>

Discussions are fine...and really, pretty much anything goes here, so don't feel you're not "allowed" to post one-word posts. ;)
Just be polite. No flames. That's probably the only (unwritten) request.

I have seen the McScottish play up in Winnepeg with Keanu Reeves. He was okay as McBeth but he does not commend a really great presence that the role demands.
NDSU just presented A Mid Summers night dream and it went well. They are presenting the penny opera this year.
