Title: THE PRIME RIB
Post by: bk on January 16, 2006, 12:11:51 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with tales of Prime Ribs and hot fudge sundaes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently looking for their prime rib, which is happily ensconced in my very own actual tummy.

As for the largest meal... That's an easy one...

Steve and I went to Disneyworld a couple of years ago.  I made reservations at Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian Resort.  I had first hoped to get the Chef's Table Seating, but when I had made the reservation - months in advance as suggested - the Chef's Table (which is literally in the kitchen) was already booked.  Ah well...  Sitting out in the intimate dining room would be fine too.

The morning of our meal, I received a call from the restaurant asking if we'd still be interested in the Chef's Table since someone had cancelled.... YES!!!  So...

I forget the exact number of courses and exactly what we ate, but it was a LOT!  At least seven courses, plus I splurged on the wine pairings.  -A different bottle of wine came to the table with each course - including dessert.  And we were treated to a bottle of champagne to start off the meal too!  *They give you a customized menu, and I do have that in my keepsake box, so if I ever dig it out, I'll post our repast here.  There was a plate of amuses bouches to start off with... Then a soup... Then a salad... Then a meat course - I remember something with crisped sweetbreads (yum!)... Then a fish course... Various vegetables...

However, the one thing I do remember was that the chef was being very generous with us.  Since we were seated in the kitchen, we were allowed to remove our jackets, and we were also allowed to ask the chef's and his assistants about the food they were preparing, and walk around if we liked.  Well, being the son of parents in the food-service industry, as well as an avid cook myself, I had lots of questions.  And they had lots of answers for me.  Some of the "answers" came in the form of entrees that were developed just for us since I had asked about certain preparations and ingredients.  They would also give Steve and I different plates of food so that we could sample basically everything on the menu that night.  However, the piece de resistance was dessert... rather dessertsssss.  They gave us one of each the chocolate desserts they were preparing that night.  FOUR or them.  And then came the handmade chocolates with the final coffee service...  Whew!  *And the coffee was prepared in a vacuum pot - very cool!

It was our last night in the Magic Kingdom, and we had originally planned to go out for a bit after our dinner.  Well, we just ended up back in our room lying in bed, both of us with very full stomachs, and very "full" heads from all the wine... And that's all we did our final night in Disneyworld.

;)

But it was soooo worth it.  -And, actually, at that time, the Chef's Table seating with the wine pairings was running about $140/person.  Not exactly cheap, but after all the food we were served, and all the wine(!)... It ended up being quite the bargain.  -We even tried to buy a bottle of the champagne they served us once we got back to Richmond...  It was $120/bottle at our local Wine Superstore!  *And they even sent us back to our rooms with the remaining half-bottles of wine, as well as a box of the chocolate truffles.

Goodnight, Jose!  Wow, what a meal! ;D

Goodnight to you too, George!

And, it truly was quite the meal!  I remember that Steve and I just started laughing at ourselves for being immobilized by all that food and wine...  And then we had to be careful not to laugh too hard since we were so full and more-than-tipsy that... Well... You get the picture...

When I was livng in Dallas in the mid-seventies, my father who used to come there on business, introduced me to great restaurant on Lovers Lane.  It was simply called The Rib.  It was a Texas b-b-q joint...but rather upscale.  They had obsequious waiters who were all dressed in red-jacketed livery.  The place was all you could eat for a set price.  I think at the time it was eleven dollars.  They would start with a plate of hot links and progress up to small platters piled high with chicken, ribs, and brisket which were set over a small flame to be kept warm.  The waiter would always ask: "Would you gentlemen like some more?"  And as long as you did, he'd keep bringing it.  I'm sure there were also delicious side-dishes though I have no recollection of them.  Outside of Dr. Hogly-Wogly's in LA, it was the best b-b-q I ever had.

When Larry Drake and I were in Dallas plying our trade in dinner theatre, this is the place we would go when we were flush...and eat and eat until we thought we could eat no more.  And then, of course, eat some more...because we were actors!  Ever eaten with one?  We'd eat to the point of pain, being sure to get our eleven dollars worth (I think it eventually went up to about $15 in the four years I was there).  We would then waddle out to the car, unbuckle our belts and pop the button on our jeans and flip a coin to see who had to expend the energy and concentration to drive home (there was no liquor involved; I'm sure they had it, but we were drinking Cokes)...we lived in the same apartment complex...and then we'd sit in front of TV for the rest of the evening, stomachs gurgling , belching,  and other gastric disturbances making their presence known.

I guess my most MEMORABLE meal would be a seafood extravaganza I had in a Restaurant in Baltimore.  The name struck me when I saw it on the menu....I will look around the net and see if I can find it.

I just remember black shellfish around the edges of the BIG plate and every kind of seafood I could think of sitting in the middle!

Good morning, all!  No free day for me; I have to trek to Toyland for some more glances at Act Two. then a trip to Fed Ex, and after that, a bit of work here.  I have no idea what the hell's going on with this Kelli O'Hara chart, which is a bit disconcerting, but I do know it's in E-major.  Now, if I only knew the number of musicians for next Monday I'd be set.

When you are far away
And I am blue?
Waddle I do?

Waddle I do
When I am wondering who
Is kissing you?
Waddle I do?

Waddle I do with just a photograph
To tell my troubles to?

When I'm alone with only dreams of you
That won't come true
Waddle I do?

DR Jane asked last night:
Quote
Jennifer I have an IN JUSTICE question.  The sister from the last show you say is new…..We thought she was a regular on the episode we watched two weeks ago.  So…?

Um, well I cannot really remember the woman from 2 weeks ago.  But I don't see how she could be the same woman.  The sister this week was definitely meeting all the people for the first time.  I believe there was another lawyer woman two weeks ago.

I don't know but after this week's show I don't know that I will watch it again.  Same with BOOK OF DANIEL.  They are both just okay, but don't hold my interest as much as I would like.

Cillaliz, good cat vibes.  Our Bosco had an autoimmune problem with her gums, basically she was allergic to herself and had to take prednisone.  She didn’t have many teeth by the time it was diagnosed and she was basically starving to death.  Once she began the medication, while we had to monitor her, she improved and we had many more happy years with her.

Jose I can’t eat Hershey’s chocolate anymore.  Well maybe I can, just don’t want to.

I still eat Hershey's from time to time, however, since the Hershey corporation recently acquired both Scharffen Berger and Joseph Schmidt Confections... They've started selling some of their "new" products at the Hershey Store in Times Square.  And the Hershey Store is a perfect place to pick up gifts for brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, etc., etc... ;-)

I'm not familiar with Scharffen Berger.  Craig worked in a candy store that sold Joseph Schmidt.  Since he isn't big on chocolate he asked my opinion.  It is very pretty but the creams and truffels aren't my favorites so I easily pass on that.

Scharffen Berger primarily makes bars of chocolate for eating and baking.  -Originally they concentrated on fine chocolate for bakers and pastry chefs.  Very high quality stuff.  And it's made in the USA too.  I'd call it "American Belgian" if that makes sense.

Jrand, I did a silly-ass British mystery called The Busybody with Ms. Kulp.  I don't remember her being objectionable; but I don't recall her being "fun" either.  But then I came in as a replacement for like the last two weeks of the run, so I didn't have time to "bond" with her.  She was thoroughly professional.

TOD:

Eating out-wise, I would have to say that my largest meals have taken place at Deux Cheminees (http://www.deuxchem.com/), a French restaurant here in Philly .  The menu is prix-fixe and they don't skimp on any of the courses.  And even though the fare is the Escoffier/heavy sauce type of French cuisine (which I tend not to like), everything is so delicious that I can't help shoving every last bit into my mouth.  The soups are all creamy, my favorite being a seafood bisque with chunks of crab meat.  There is an amazing sweetbread appetizer with buttery vegetables.  My favorite entrees are the restaurant's signature dish, rack of lamb with truffle sauce, and rainbow trout stuffed with a salmon mousse.  My favorite dessert is a dark chocolate cake with banana mousse.  There is also a plate of fresh baked Madeline cookies with handmade chocolate ice cream on the side.

My largest meal there was the time I dined there with my sister, who worked in the kitchen during her chef days.  The owner/head chef, Fritz Blanc, occasionally walks among the diners to check how they are enjoying their meals.  After spotting my sister and giving her a warm friendly hug, he kept sending us samples of the different appetizers and desserts that were being served that night.  By the time our meal was over, we all had to waddle our way out.

Woody I grew up eating at Lawry's.  We had my father's 89th and 90th birthday parties there.  Not that I eat much of their food anymore.  I still enjoy the yorkshire pudding.  My mother was English and a great cook so Lawry's was never as good as home cooking.  IMHO it isn't as good as it used to be.

I like Hershey's chocolate just fine, and since it's so readily available everywhere, that's what I tend to eat when I want chocolate. I realize, of course, that there are far better (and more expensive) chocolates out there. I guess my palate isn't very refined.

In fact, there aren't many chocolates I don't like. Well, some friends brought me back from chocolate from China when they visited there, and it was truly nasty.

The largest meal I can ever rememeber eating happened about twenty years ago. A friend of mine who's a caterer wanted to add Chinese cuisine to his list of available catered meals, so he fixed his living room as a Chinese pagoda, and he invited eight of us to partake of his Chinese meal. It was 12 courses of food, and I thought I was going to burst around course nine or ten. I did make it through everything, and it was mostly delicious.

But he only wanted us to use chopsticks, and the fellow next to me, a dear friend who had something of a drinking problem, could not manipulate his chopsticks and kept imploring me to help him throughout the meal. Finally, to silence him and to enable me to enjoy my meal, the host brought out a fork for him.

Thanks, DR TCB, for your insights into THE GREEN PASTURES. Unlike some, I am a great believer in taking films in the spirit they were made and not applying modern day political correctness to them. I have no problems watching and appreciating SONG OF THE SOUTH, and the antiquaited qualities of THE GREEN PASTURES will not bother me in the least. I will very easily be able to judge it as a film of its time. I'm looking forward to finishing it, but with three hours of TV from last night to get through today before I record an entire raft of new shows tonight, it will probably be later in the week before I can return to it.

Did anybody else watch DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES last night? I thought it was a pretty good show.  Every storyline for once was interesting.

I like the new doctor that Susan is interested in.  I also thought Gabrielle's naked photos on the internet was fun.

Lynnette and her husband's story re: him being afraid to catch the chicken pox, and then not wanting to get a vasectomy was important.  But I felt sad at the end for their marriage.

But my favorite storyline once again has been Bree.  I thought last year was Teri Hatcher's year. But this year I prefer Bree. I liked her scenes with Alfre. I liked her scenes with the police detective and her impending arrest.

I'm curious to know which Desperate Housewife do you guys think will win the Golden Globe?  Like I said last year I was Teri Hatcher all the way. But this year I want Marcia Cross. Although I wonder if this is Felicity Huffman's year (with all her praise for her movie).

I also have to figure out how I want to cook a pork roast I'm making.
Choice A) roast it in the oven for 1 1/2 - 2 hours at 350-375.  B) roast it for 1 hour at 375 and then 1 hour at 300. Or C)slice it first and then roast it with sweet potatoes and stuffing under it.

I would bet the farm on Huffman.  She's been everywhere the past month or so and is probably at the fore of the voters' minds.

I like her the most on DH.  Even though the story lines for Lynette tend to be less flashy than the others and are generally self-contained to each episode, Huffman does such a terrific job at fleshing out her character that she's become the most interesting one on the show.

I'm curious, is anybody else gonna watch tonight's GOLDEN GLOBES? I love them, since it has tv also!  I do wish I got to see the pre-shows. Not sure if I get any of them (certainly not anything on E or any of the speciality channels). I wanna see what everyone is wearing.

DR Jennifer, I'm going to watch them. I don't get E on my cable so I don't get a lot of the preshow, but I still enjoy what I can see on the network coverage

Well, I got my moving estimate today, it's not as bad as I thought it would be, but since it's local it's by the hour, so I can save a lot if I move the boxes myself.   I have to laugh. I started planning one day off for the move itself. Then it was 3 days off to allow for weather. Now I'm marking out a whole week so I can get everything just the way I want it.  It's all I'll be thinking about that week, so I may as well just be doing only that.

Yesterday ws busy, busy, busy here at Casa Pulliam.

I decided I just HAD to reorient my bedroom so that the head of my bed was at the north end of my room.  I haven't had a decent night's sleep since I changed things around sometime last summer.

Truly, not a "decent" night's sleep.

That said, last night's sleep was fitful, at best.

I don't know why.  It got cold, and I fought with my covers quite a bit.  I also tried something new with my pillows and decided early this a.m. that it would not work.  I don't know why I experimented, but it's part of the package I was dealing with at the time.

In between phases of this evolution, I found time to consume a homemade BBQ sandwich which was very delish.  Later, I enjoyed the fruits of my crockpot's labors by indulging in the chicken-garlic stew that cooked all day and nearly drove me insane with its aroma.

I washed a few loads of clothes, too.

I had to move things out the room in order to rotate the bed.  I love this room when it's nearly emptied out.  I am loath to reintroduce several things back into it but must decide what I will do with them.

I have some green beans on the stove.  I don't know if any of you out there enjoy green beans...especially when they are canned.  But...I rinse canned green beans several times, and then put them in a pan with a little oil and beef bouillon.  I cook them covered on low/simmer -- stirring every now and again -- until such time as they look absolutely wonderful, smell absolutely wonderful and taste absolutely wonderful.  For me, that's about 45 minutes.

I watched M. Night Shyamalan's "Unbreakable" again this morning.  Wonderful film.

Part of my move yesterday/last night also involved my cumputer which had to be disconnnected and relocated.  Last last night, I got back online and visited this site and caught up.  I attempted to post, but discovered my keyboard wasn't functioning.  I futzed and puttered and cursed but could not make it work.

This morning, with a clearer mind, I immediately saw the problem and made the proper connection.

We had a gorgeous day in the Bay Area yesterday.  Late last night, though, it got very cold here.  It was F 34 degrees when I got up.  Currently, it's F 50.

I have a fire going in my fireplace, and I am very nearly almost hungry as lunch time is bearing down upon me.

Ciao-ders!

Well, BK will probably haul out the extra-duty bitch-slapping machine for me saying this, but I have been watching Li'l Abner for the first time over the past couple of nights and while Leslie Parrish is beyond gorgeous, she is quite possibly the most inept lip-syncher I have ever watched.  Sorry, BK.   :'(

Of course you would think that as a red-blooded American male, the last thing I would be watching would be Leslie's lips (which are quite luscious), but when her mouth is constantly off the pre-record, I just can't help it.  ;)

About Globe predictions, I'm guessing that Marcia Cross will win for Best Actress in a Comedy, and Felicity Huffman will win Best Actress in a Movie Drama for TRANSAMERICA.

I agree about Bree; hers has been the most consistently interesting storyline this year, and the part has provided her with wonderful opportunities for comedy and drama. If Cross doesn't win, it should be Huffman.

The doctor that Susan became enamored with last night is a cutie, and he's a good actor, too, so good that it's hard for me to forget the totally evil character (with a charming demeanor) he played last year on LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT.

Whatever slump HOUSEWIVES was in earlier in the season, it seems to have found very firm footing now. Obviously Tom (Doug Savant) is beginning to have a mid-life crisis, and that's always interesting (at least I think so since I was the victim of my partner's mid-life crisis when he turned 45).  I'm going to follow his and Lynette's marriage story very closely now since he seems to be beginning a very troubled period.

Gaby and Carlos' story was the most predictable this week and while sort of fun, not up to the encounters with the nun.

I started the afternoon, however, with last night's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. Michael York was the guest star and played a very interesting role. I found this to be one of the best of this season's episodes, and, lo and behold, Goren's nemesis Nicole Wallace (whom I was just talking about here a few days ago) figured into the story as well.

You're right; I don't watch previews (though before the next episode airs, ABC will promo the show with the previews that I skipped, so I'll see them eventually if I watch anything on ABC).

I assume this means the nun is coming back, and I would have been very critical of the writers if they hadn't returned to her as she's a fascinating character and one who provided much outstanding conflict and a very interesting plotline to the show. Otherwise, Gaby and Carlos didn't have much of a story left once her indescretion became public knowledge.

DG Ann and I had a simply wonderful day yesterday.  We both had an itch to get out of town for the day, so we hopped in the car and made our way to Astoria, Oregon (a place I had somehow never been).  Spent a good chunk of time just wandering about the waterfront, and enjoyed a very tasty lunch.  Then we headed a few miles south along the coast to Seaside.  No matter how chilly or cloudy a day might be, I simply love the ocean.  We spent most of the afternoon wandering along the beaches in Seaside and Cannon Beach, also wandering the streets of oh-so-touristy Seaside (where we picked up some yummilicious fudge).  As it started to get dark along the coast, we headed inland for dinner in Portland.  We wandered around downtown to see what struck our culinary fancy, and ended up at Greek Cusina where we shared an antipasto plate including the most wonderfully garlic-laden skordalia, some scrumptious spanikopita, and excellent Greek meatballs with feta dip.  We were thoroughly stuffed and reeking of garlic... two sure signs of a good meal.  Then it was back on the road and home to Tacoma to finish a fabulous daytrip.

Speaking of partying on a holiday, I guess I'm officially missing the HHW NY gathering.  Still waiting for the last piece of info to calculate a client's estimate that needs to be paid by tomorrow.

Something strange happened today.  I hadn't spoken to one of my closest friends in over a week, though we've emailed a bit, including an email from her yesterday forwarding something someone had sent her.  But today I first called her home, then called her office on a hunch that she might not have the day off, and her outgoing message said she's on disability since the end of last week.  I've left messages for her and for another friend, but I can only assume she's not ready to talk about it, since she emailed me yesterday and didn't mention it.

I'm back from Linda Purlville and all went well.

Well, our publicist sent me our first two reviews, which were ironically both from the same LA Internet review site.  Wasn't sure I wanted to read them, but, in the end I did - I still may not read others.  But, here's some quotes from the first review:

"Writer/Director Bruce Kimmel’s world premiere presentation is a nifty little murder mystery with more twists than a double pretzel and an ending that any writer would kill for.

The characters, Kate, Michael and Jeffrey weave a triangle that spins faster than hurricane Katrina, and Kimmel makes sure that the story rolls along adding layer upon layer of intrigue. In what has to be one of the best concepts to date, on a dark and stormy night a young widow is visited by Michael Bedford, her late husband’s best friend who tells her he has been abroad and has just returned and has a memento of the husband to give her... Deceit is a thriller that will keep you guessing all night, as you keep sliding back from the edge of the seat.  This is definitely a great way to start your new year of theatre."

The above reviewer saw the show Saturday night (I asked the publicist, because I thought it would be interesting to know).  The quotes that follow, from the second review, were from someone who saw it Friday night.

"...witty dialogue and fast paced surprises... Particularly smashing is Matthew Ashford as Michael, a close friend of the victim who returns home from England to give the victim’s wife some solace in her state of grief... Tammy Minoff is convincing especially as the bad actress yet cunningly manipulative spouse... Greg Albanese is superb... Kimmel’s clever language and plot gimmickry keep the audience continuously deceived.
Above all else, it’s fun."

Our publicist (not the one who initially told me), has described the Variety review as "negative".  The person who initially told me about it did say that the reviewer is respectful of me, just didn't like this show.  I wonder if his review would have been any different had he seen the tighter Saturday night show with the good audience.  I've known this particular reviewer for over thirty years - he's a guitar player who somehow now reviews for Variety.  Go know.

I've read the Variety review, 'negative' is a good description. Don't worry about what some guitar playin' reviewer says.  Stay positive and remember the two favorable reviews, as well as all the positive audience response you have recieved.

I read the Variety review - methinks he doesn't want to see a play, he wants to see a music video and doesn't care anything about the characters other than right now.

As DR CP said - the box office and word of mouth will be remembered longer than this "review."

Bruce -  I also think the Variety critic is respectful of your career and accomplishments in general, saying for example that "the multi-talented Kimmel has established his credentials in many areas of the industry" and reminding the readers of the acclaim you gained for THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL and THE FACULTY.  He certainly doesn't write off the premise of the play, and suggests what he feels can be done to give the show legs.

SPOILERS FOR THE GOLDEN GLOBES.

I will say one thing, I was very disappointed for one award.

Don't read below if you don't want to know.

It was Best Actress, musical or comedy for television.

I really wanted Marcia Cross to win.  And I would have been happy with any of the Desperate Housewives.  I do really like Mary Louise Parker.  But her show is seen by so few people.  I have seen it once or twice and she is good. i mean she's good in everything she does.  But I thought of the housewives should have won.

Other than that many of the awards (especially for film) were extremely predictable.

I guess I can reveal a couple of the winners.

Don't read if you don't want to know.

Reese and Joaquin and Walk the Line all won.  As did Brokeback mountain, ang lee (sp?) and phillip seymour hoffman (best actor) and felicity huffman (best actress).

I just read the Golden Globe results, so tomorrow I can fast forward through the show to get to the winners I'd like to see and hear. In the main, the choices look to be very sound. I was particularly pleased by the TV awards (well, maybe not actress in a comedy, though to be fair, I don't watch that show). and, of course, the awards won by BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.

'24' had another exceptional two hours of excitement, thrills, and surprises. Unquestionably, among the best shows on TV and certainly one of my favorites.

And because they start their season in January, no reruns.

You know, reviews are amusing - one really can't pay too much attention to either good OR bad.  If I paid attention to the two raves, I'd get all cocky and think "hot stuff" - I'm glad they "got" the play and really enjoyed it.  And I can't get all bothered because someone else didn't.  Nor can I panic and start changing everything.  I'm happy with the piece for the most part and feel it does what I set out for it to do - it may not please everyone, but it pleases me and seems to be pleasing those who see it.

If we get a couple more decent ones, our investor is thinking about taking out a couple of larger ads in the Times and perhaps the LA Weekly.

Some people are not easily taught sign language. Two people had homework for the weekend and one gal did very well and learned the basic signs.... The gal who is doing well with it is the lead. She also surprised me and watched the movie version with Marlee Matlin!

"Big-name players take to the stage this month, including Billy Crystal in 700 Sundays, Lynn Redgrave in The Importance of Being Earnest, and Matthew Ashford in Deceit"

It was a great day in NYC.  And a very long one, but that was a good thing.  When I headed out earlier this afternoon, I first made my way to Columbus Circle to check out some things, and then it was down to the Village to check out a few more things, as well as have lunch with my friend, Stuart.

We settled into the Cornelia Street Cafe.  It was my first time there, but I'm sure I'll be returning sooner rather than later.  A nice, varied menu with reasonable prices, and the space itself is deceptively big.  From the outside, it looks like it just has a few tables, but once you step inside, there's a bar area with some tables, then another room with tables off to the left, and yet another larger room in the back.  And downstairs, there's a small cabaret-ish space where they have live music and literary readings.

The food was wonderful - smoked salmon for me, and boudin blanc for Stuart - and we had a wonderful time catching up.

Then...

As DR elmore already accounted, it was a wonderful gathering.  It was great seeing DR Ginny and her DH Richard again.  And it was also just great for me to see the "gang" again too: elmore, Jason, Ben, Ant, TPunk, Rodzinski.  I haven't been back up to NYC since I started working on Damn Yankees which was back in early November.  It was nice to be home and among friends for the evening.

*And the Mississippi Mud Pie was very good too.

Pictures were snapped at the gathering, but they were snapped by others, so... We shall await their imminent posting.

Certainly the two reviews I posted loved Matt - have no idea what Variety thought of the actors, and don't really care.

The two you posted is making them smile. Many of us have followed Matt's career since the 1980s and know what the guy can do when given the material. You don't want to read the variety one. To suffice I think he missed the boat...  Many on the Conn would love to see the play but for many of us it would have to resort to hijacking, robbery and so forth to get to California....

On to a more pleasant topic....

I am glad that Brokeback Mtn and Walk the LIne did well...
Title: Re:THE PRIME RIB
Post by: JoseSPiano on January 16, 2006, 11:33:15 PM
After walking Ginny and Richard back to their hotel, Jason, Ben, Ant and I took the subway back down to 14th street.  Ben and Ant headed up to their flat, and Jason and I headed over to Splash for Musical Mondays.

The place wasn't crowded, but it was well attended.  There were some video clips that I hadn't seen before and/or in a long time.  -And there was also some other "entertainment" around the room which just had Jason and I repeatedly shaking our heads in disbelief and semi-disgust.  "Get a room!!!"

But we stuck it out till the very end when they ran the Tony clip from Dreamgirls.  On our previous visits, that clip was shown earlier in the evening, but tonight it was back where it usually is as the last clip of the evening before the tables and chairs are cleared for the dance floor.

And then it was back out into the not-as-cold-as-it-was and back on the subway to our respected home environments.

Like I said earlier, it really was a wonderful day for me.  It was great being back in NYC for the first time in over two months, and it was great being able to spend some time with some good friends.

BK - Congrats on the reviews.

Personally, I'm one of those people who actually likes reading reading reviews.  The good and the bad and the in-between.  I find them fun and funny.  And by reading "all of them", it just creates a sense of balance for me.  -I guess I'm just weird that way.

*And I have to say that the Lestat reviews have definitely provided some giggles for me.

**And as many a show has proved in recent times, good reviews don't necessarily insure the success - financially speaking - of a show, and bad reviews don't always kill a show.  It's all about the word of mouth and the marketing and the advertising budget.

You make some good points DR Jose..... We have been promoting it on the Conn and one of the gals on that board saw the play and was very impressed with.... A big selling point in my humble opinion is word of mouth....

Matt doing a fantastic job is giving the Conn osmething great to talk about also.. His role on Days has been sidelined again and the show has not given any viewers anything good to say for a long time. It is nice ot see the good
